Let me start by saying we give everywhere and everyone the benefit of doubt. They have 3 hosts everytime my husband and I come here to eat and never once have we been addressed when walking in. We have to talk to them to get any kind of conversation going to even write our names down, forget about asking how long it will be because none of them ever know and they all just stand there when they could be doing literally anything else to help out. They don't smile. One of them is NOT polite. The last time while here we place a Togo order, waited 45 minutes and they forgot items and everything else just looked sad. Not worth the time or money. Currently it took us 25 minutes to be sat which isn't terrible for a Sunday. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time to minimize wait. We then waited another 15 minutes to even get our drinks and at that they forgot one of the drinks. Food is okay, nothing special. We're just disappointed everytime we come here, so this will be the last. I don't know if they just need more staff or better staff honestly. They definitely need new hosts! read more

I've never walked out of a restaurant before, this place was as close as it's ever gotten. We were sat with three other tables already sat. Waited for almost an hour before we receieved the first portion of our food, which was the wrong order. Watched two other tables get there food before us, including one who walked out for receiving the wrong drinks and food order and loudly proclaimed they were going to mcdonalds. There were many members of the kitchen staff walking to and from the front desk, who looked like they were in a daze. I could let a lot go if it was slammed with a single server and line cook but there was a decent amount of staff. I've lived in a lot of places, large cities small towns and been all over this country and have never before experienced this level of ineptitude before. In fairness the manager did comp the meal after my wife complained but it's hard to look past all the happened. If you are looking for breakfast in Alamogordo go anywhere else! read more

The waiting bench at the entrance had a big hole. At least put some duck tape on it. It was downhill from there. I guess the waitress was annoyed because we moved to a booth. She pressured us to order quickly. No problem, but the food was mostly horrible. The pancakes were bland and not fluffy. I asked for a cup of minestrone soup. Her response was "I don't know if we have any". We asked if they had any sugar-free syrup. Her response was "I'll look for it if I find it I'll get some". When the food came there was no silverware to eat it with. The fries were horrible I should have returned them. I asked what happened to the cup of soup. She said there wasn't any. The meals we order looked nothing like the meau display.Really bad advertising. I asked for extra pickles on my chicken sandwich got two only. And two slivers of onions. No sauces came on the chicken sandwiches or the jalapeno sandwiches just a small dab of mayonnaise size of a nickel. The staff is really nice can't take that away from establishment. I got the cheeseburger omelet. It was mediocre and bland and then I found a hair in it. The waitress, who was very sweet, apologized profusely and took it back to be remade and comped it. I was almost finished with the remade one when I found a huge black pubic looking hair at the bottom of it. Disappointing: The first thing was they were out of ice, NOTHING (jam, syrup, etc) for diabetics, very slow seating, even with available tables, and had to wait for someone to show up at cashier. I have lived in this town for about 2.5 years now, and up until about 3 months ago, we would get great service here. Now, all of a sudden, hands down probably the worst service I've ever gotten. The waitress was completely inattentive to my family and I. We waited for the check for over 30 mins after we finished our meal in a dining room with maybe 10 people total in it. The order was wrong on top of that. It's very disappointing because this was one of our favorite spots to eat at, but now we don't even want to go because it's not an enjoyable experience. My husband and I ate breakfast this morning (7/8/13) at the IHOP in Alamogordo, New Mexico. PROS: The waitress was attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant was clean and inviting. The women's restroom was also clean. CONS: We ordered the chicken fajita omelet and harvest grain pancakes. We asked that there be NO onions in the omelet and understood that there would be some onions in the salsa IHOP places on top of the omelet. When we received our food there were onions in the omelet and the chicken inside the omelet was overcooked and tough. The harvest grain pancakes were also overcooked/bordering on burnt. After eating at IHOP we went to Walmart and ran into a man that had been having breakfast at a table close to our booth. He asked how our food was and I told him it was marginal at best. He said his food was also overcooked. Whoever IHOP has cooking this morning is a horrible cook and should not be allowed to cook and/or a manager needs to oversee what is going out of the kitchen at the Alamogordo, New Mexico IHOP. We've eaten at a lot of IHOP restaurants in many different states and this was our worst experience (regarding food) that we've had in a IHOP. Very disappointed. read more

My husband and I have been to many IHOP's across states... and this one kinda surprised me. The building was immaculate, very clean and modern as if it had just been renovated but the customer service was terrible. From the time we got in to the time we left customers were waiting for a hostess just standing in the entry way because no one was paying them attention (even though it wasn't packed). Additionally, our waitress kind of rushed our order, didn't have much personality and seemed frustrated. The gentleman next to our booth had been sitting for over 30 minutes before anyone asked him if he'd been helped. He was a veteran and came alone for coffee and pancakes. We thought that was just inconsiderate. Onto the food, the food was mediocre. Our coffee was lukewarm and our eggs were "mushy" felt like they'd been microwaved. Not sure if this was a one time deal as we had not been here before but, we certainly won't be back. That was enough for us. Hope someone else has a better experience. read more

The pancake I ate was not as good as I had hoped. I've had many pancakes and have made many pancakes as well, but that pancake was not as good. The table was not at all sanitized. I could see leftover crumbs and a piece of hair that was not mine. Gross. The floor was sticky. I thought maybe they must have spilled syrup ALL OVER the floor. So let me start off by saying that the morning services that we have gone in when the Manager Lisa is working is great. We had been in about a year ago, before she started, and received horrible service. Decided to go back and she really proved that it had changed. Tonight we decided to go in for dinner and it was horrible all the way around. There were literally 3 families inside. We think, "great. This should be a quiet, quick night". The male manager seated us quickly. The waiter at the table adjacent to us ignored us. We sat for another 10 mins before someone finally took our drink order. We sat then for another 10 mins, still no drinks (just 3 them ordered) when the waiter who ignored us finally asked us if we had been served. Maybe we should have been given that courteousy as you watched us wait for 10 mins in the empty restaurant as you finally told the other waitress that we were there and you weren't helping us because we weren't in your area. After about 25mins we finally got our drinks, as we were told, "sorry about the wait". Food overall was less than desired and took over 40 mins to get, without the pancakes our meal came with. We continued to watch our waitress circle the bare restaurant with no pancakes in hand. About 15 mins after we received our food, the tiny pancakes arrived on a BURNING hot plate that I was not told was so hot. I learned the lesson when I reached out for my plate and burned my finger tips. Very disappointing at the level of service and management. We were NEVER checked on by our hostess, at all. When we did get our bill, our hostess charged us for our son's meal (we were there before 6pm) and then HOVERED over me as I filled out her tip. Overall I would NEVER return during the evening. I find it odd that during a time when they are most busy (a weekend morning), their service is on point. It's really fantastic. At night, it's a joke. Dont waste your time. read more

They even have us a discount on our meal because of a miscommunication on the order and for the wait (which wasn't long at all, probably 10 minutes). We come from San Francisco, so a 10 minute wait was no big deal for us but they insisted on making it right. Best service I've ever had! read more

I haven't had many good experiences at this iHop. From food poisoning to waiting 2 hours for pancakes, or just being forgotten altogether, I'm not sure why I ever go back. The seats are awful, the water tastes straight out of the toilet, and I keep getting food poisoning. Definitely don't recommend, Denny's is far better - at least they won't poison you or forget you're there. read more
