I used to love going to IHOP but the prices for what you get are so outrageous that it's not even worth going anymore. None of the food had flavor, for starters, and I almost lost my mind when the bill for TWO people to eat came to over $60. For IHOP. It's basic breakfast food that isn't special at all. We didn't have enough add-ons to make it even close to worth that price....I could have eaten at a nice breakfast joint with fun ambiance and gotten alcoholic drinks for this price. The ambiance isn't welcoming and neither are any of the employees. They all clearly hate their jobs and don't want to be there. That will be my last time willingly going to an IHOP to eat. I think she had some regulars there, as she seemed so comfortable. I enjoyed my early morning milkshake with the chicken and waffle combo. I added a bit of hashbrowns to get some potato as a side. I have always loved going to this IHOP I went around 10:00am and they seem to be short of service. My waitress was a little brusk, however it was maybe because of her running around giving service to several tables. I still enjoyed my seating area. Now, the orange juice they served tasted like medicine and even though it had pulp , it was still questionable. I ordered the chicken and waffles, but I think this will be my last time. You know, we've been more than a handful of times and haven't really been disappointed anytime we've gone. The food has always been consistent, the employees have, for the most part, always been nice and friendly and on it with the refills and the checking up on the table. I don't think, in the 10-ish times we've been there, we've ever had an issue with the order coming to the table incorrectly. It's always been clean but there is an issue I have about what I saw once, and I'm sure is just a common occurence. One employee was clearing a tables and wiping things down. Unfortunately what I saw was that the same rag used for cleaning the bench seat then got used to wipe the table down, without so much as a rinse. I found that kind of gross. I don't even know where to begin, but let me say this: I've given this IHOP multiple chances to redeem itself, and every single time, it's ended in complete disaster. The most recent visit was the final straw. I ordered their mac & cheese--EIGHT DOLLARS for what was literally microwaved Kraft mac & cheese. You can make better at home in two minutes for a fraction of the price. Not only was it gross--tasting like it had been reheated three times--it also made me VIOLENTLY ILL. I'm talking intense food poisoning: vomiting, diarrhea, chills, nausea--you name it. I've been to urgent care because of this IHOP before. Last time, the vomiting was so bad, I threw up 60 ounces of bile and food all over my driveway. It got on my shoes, and I was so dehydrated I almost passed out. And it wasn't just me--this wasn't a one-time thing. The food here consistently makes people sick, and it's clear they don't care about food safety or quality. On top of that, the staff doesn't seem to care about hygiene. The tables were sticky, the silverware had spots on it, and I'm pretty sure I saw someone wipe their hands on their apron and then handle food without gloves. It's an absolute disaster zone in there, and the kitchen probably looks like something out of a horror movie. IHOP is supposed to be a place where you can get decent pancakes and breakfast. To be honest I always order something from the breakfast menu no matter the time of day. Many options to choose from, salty, sweet, or savory, it comes out hot and plenty of it. I like that they leave the coffee pot on the table for you so it become self serve and you never have to wait for a refill. They have a full menu to choose from and happily will cook any of it any time of the day, so order that cheese burger for breakfast if you like. read more

Stopped into the HOP for today's $.58 short stack in celebration of their 58th birthday. I wasn't entirely disappointed being that my tab was under $5 including tip. I opted for a blueberry stack which was a $1.99 up-charge today...small change. Nathan was a very efficient server; he even got all of my order alterations down to a tee. I appreciated his effort. I don't come hear this often but every time I come it is pretty good. It also feels like I go there on Christmas Eve or day every year. So when I go there I have big expectations. And every time they deliver. It is not the best restaurant in the inside. I say this because it isn't really that clean. There is also lots of cracks in the corners of the buildings. Basic IHOP food. If you have eaten at one that filled you up and tasted like breakfast, then you have a good idea what this one is like. It's easy to get to from all the big hotels out on this stretch. So if one of them is where you find yourself, I would give an A-OK to this location for your breakfast. We had very fast service. By the time I left at 9:45ish they were filling up thought. I ordered the California Scramble (Flavors that are as light and bright as the California sun. Creamy, fresh avocado slices, sweet, summery salsa. A blend of rich cheeses. All of this atop fluffy scrambled eggs, with hash browns and two buttermilk pancakes.) The only thing I was not thrilled with was the salsa. It was very obviously out of a jar but all of the other meal components were good and cooked as I requested. It's IHOP. I met a college friend for breakfast yesterday. Holy cow was this place packed! I arrived a bit early, put my name on the waitlist and found a seat. When my dining partner arrived, we had a brief wait before our table was ready. Considering the crowd, that was really fast. Our server was delightful. I got an entire carafe of decaf and a glass of water. Dining partner got a diet cola. Dining partner ordered banana pancakes with nuts. What a beautiful plate! Not only were bananas sliced on top of the pancakes, they were slices of banana IN the pancakes. A generous sprinkling of pecans, a huge dollop of butter with syrup on the side. She enjoyed. I got eggs benedict. What a HUGE plate of beautifully prepared luciousness. The eggs were perfect. The Canadian bacon completely covered each English muffin half, and the Hollandaise sauce was rich and hot. The hash browns were crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. Just perfect. When I think of IHOP, I think of servers who are so busy that they hardly have the time to ensure that your order is correct let alone appetizing. That said, I must give the IHOP in Chesterfield its due. My wife is pregnant with twins and we have been to IHOP twice in the last few weeks. Both times we had an excellent server who was friendly, courteous, and attentive. We had brunch on a Sunday with the usual post church crowd, and a late dinner around 10:15. Over the years, I think I've only ever been here between midnight and four AM. It used to be a reliable location - if you had been to a 24 hour chain restaurant before, you were getting what you expected, or on a lucky night, a little more. Things have gone decidedly downhill. By chance, I've been a couple times in the past few weeks (my normal late night timing) and though it's a small sample size, I'm going to focus on the last visit. I know it's just another IHOP, but someone's got to look out for the nighthawks in my neck of the woods. The management and/or owner acknowledged me at the front of the restaurant and proceeded to maintain a disturbing glare, finding both the menu and the table without ever taking his eyes off me. I'm not attractive enough to warrant this kind of attention, I promise. There is some good news - The adolescent who served all the tables (four, I think? a decent load for that time of morning) was not only on top of his game, he was on top of everybody else's, too. I heard him running the show from outside the kitchen, and I really don't think I would have gotten my meal if he hadn't been there. It turns out that might have been preferable, but he could honestly put "managing an IHOP" on his resume. The biggest problem with frozen food is: if you have a terrible/sleepy/disoriented cook, it can stay that way. I didn't send back the popsicle hash browns because I already heard three corrections made to the orders while I was there (all nice catches by the utility player) and also because it was 3am at an IHOP, and I sometimes pick my battles. Creepy, greasy, frozen. I didn't expect much, and somehow got less. Fellow nighthawks in St. Louis / St. Charles: you can afford to drive a little further in any direction. read more

We had written this place off two years ago because of the terrible, slow service. Decided to give it a try again and it seems nothing has changed. Our waiter was new and most of our poor experience was not his fault. Drinks were brought out quickly but 30 minutes after we placed our order we had to flag him down and ask how much longer. He told us the kitchen was backed up and there was "a hold on tickets" meaning our order hadn't even been sent to the kitchen! We should have left then. We watched a table that was seated after us get their food before us. We finally received our food an hour and fifteen minutes after we ordered! We were complained to the cashier (manager?) he didn't even say sorry but rather "That's the way it's been here for 5 years". Lol okay, maybe do better then. NEVER AGAIN! read more
