This place is expensive for a close equivalent to Denny's. There were three of us that cost over $80 with tip. The coffees are over $4. The food came without a lot of waiting, and it tasted good at least so, there's that. The waitress was nice and checked in with us at first but didn't come around when we wanted refills on coffee. It's pretty loud in here (it was pretty busy but we only had to wait a minute for a table). Lots of talking over the dishes and silverware being rattled behind the half wall where the waitress pick up food and coffee etc. Not a great place to have a quiet conversation but good for the food- we had strawberry French toast, strawberry waffles, and an omelette. I honestly don't know why this place has such a low score. Their food was so good and I got curbside. Everything was cooked to perfection! And this isn't the first time. Ordered bacon and avocado eggs benedict with crispy hash browns--and the egg yolks were perfectly runny . Classic fluffy french toast were just as they promised. The breakfast biscuit sandwich with scrambled eggs and American cheese plus crispy hashbrowns. Pumpkin pancakes have such a strong harvest feel to them and so many fall spices. This was my first time, taking my daughter to IHOP, I myself and not been there in 11 years. I had always had decent experiences in the past but sadly today my daughter ordered the five silver pancakes from the kids menu, and she only received 4. The hashbrowns were burnt on the outside, but undercooked on the inside. The waitress was nice. It was pretty busy, so the service gets a pass in this case, but we did have to wait quite a while in order to pay and leave. We will definitely not be coming back again. We would have been better off. Just getting breakfast at McDonald's. IHOP is underrated. Do you remember when IHOP and Denny's were the breakfast ("brunch" was not even widely used I feel) moguls? I still enjoy a standard IHOP meal from time to time, but I think the quality has gone down and the service is hit or miss. My most recent visit was spur of the moment! I had a specific craving for sirloin steak tips and eggs, which comes with pancakes on the side. First of all, this meal is almost $17 now. I do not feel like it is worth $17 and it is amazing that though the price increased, the portion decreased. I even added a side of bacon, but the bacon was a little sad too. This was the case when my family ordered several meals from IHOP during the middle of quarantine last year (when outdoor dining was not allowed yet) -- all of our meals were so small. What was frustrating was that I ordered two meals to go for my family, but when I got home, one of them was incorrect. Instead of the spicy poblano omelette, which comes with steak and avocado, I received the spinach mushroom omelette. Also, before I forget, the lid for the omelette was not placed properly. My friend had to keep trying to fix it because it was a little defective. I called the restaurant and the waitress remembered that I ordered the spicy poblano, so when I told her I received the wrong omelette, she apologized. I appreciate the apology and she was very nice while we were dining it, and maybe there was miscommunication, but ultimately I had to inconveniently drive back to the restaurant to pick up the correct order. I still had to wait once I arrived, and I could hear the waitress worriedly asking about the spicy poblano omelette. I asked to speak to the manager, which I rarely do, but I was super disappointed. The manager comped the omelette, without hesitation, which was a decent offer. When I gave my sister the brand new omelette, she mentioned how only half of the omelette had steak and how it didn't look too appealing, which only added to the disappointment. Unfortunately, my recent experiences were not very pleasant, but if I ever feel the need to eat sirloin steak tips and eggs, then I may just come back. read more

It was nice to see the receptionist sanitizing the waiting area. The iced tea was very good as was the hot black tea. My only issue, and it's small, was the whipped butter shouldn't be hard. I've come here so many times, and have always had a good experience. The good service and great prices delicious food, has us returning for more. We've been here pre-covid, during the pandemic, and will continue dining again when they open. During the shut down we have ordered delivery, we've done takeout, and even patio dining when the interior was closed. The food has never disappointed us and has been made to order and tastes good. We have tried many of their pancakes and haven't found one we didn't like. However my favorite pancakes so far have been the grinch pancakes and I always get their smokehouse combo. I like the flavor in the sausages they use, the hash browns are always just right and the eggs are made however I like. I prefer ihop as to dennys or other breakfast chains. I just like their variety and options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. However I usually only get breakfast items here, since I can eat it any time of day. =) read more

Four stars for the food and a resounding FIVE STARS for our server, Patty, who was terrific, absolutely terrific. We usually go to Family House of Pancakes on the west side of Chula Vista and IMO, they have the best pancakes anywhere, Today, however, we decided to try IHOP and we were both happy with the decision. We were seated quickly at a clean and spacious table and less than a minute after we sat, Patty came to our table. She was sweet and friendly and brought our drinks very quickly and, by that time, we were ready to order. My husband had decaf coffee, a Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. It was accompanied by eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I ordered the "Split Decision" breakfast consisting of two pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage and a slice of French Toast along with a glass of orange juice. There was more than enough food and my husband ended up helping with mine since I couldn't eat it all. Something that I really liked was that when Patty took our order, she asked if we wanted our bacon "crispy" or "regular" and I thought that was a really nice touch. The cooks got our food exactly as requested and we both agreed that we'll go back again. The shining star of the day was Patty, she was super nice, efficient, attentive and an overall pleasure. I know IHOP is known for its drunken late night food but I took a chance on getting a quick meal and I honestly wish I hadn't. The waiter was very sweet, and attentive but the food was horrible. The scrambled eggs were cold, hashbrowns were greasy, and pancakes were the only barely edible items. It's really sad to see this family resturant fall so far from what it was 10 years ago. Much better than the Chula Vista Dennys, but not close to The Broken Yolk down here. I spent $24 plus tip this morning for a large omelette with a $.99 up-charge for "red skinned potatoes" that had been "cooked" in the microwave after being poured out of a 100-pound burlap sack. Although a little better than the ubiquitous slab of uncooked frozen shreds moved directly to the griddle, these upsell potatoes were not especially appetizing or tasty. Shift manager couldn't say why wi-fi was down. He volunteered that there had been no wi-fi at this IHOP for more than a year. Yep. I'll be ordering a $8.99 breakfast special at The Broken Yolk in Chula Vista for a long time. So -- I don't expect to ever sit down to breakfast at Dennys Chula Vista again. The Broken Yolk will be my #1 breakfast/lunch spot in Chula Vista. Once I get back to center city San Diego, Perry's and the Hob Nob will be my mainstays. DZ Akins? Only reason I tolerate this place is because my kids love the pancakes. Service here is repeatedly slow and devoid of customer service. They always, ALWAYS, blame they are busier than normal but they are a breakfast joint... of course you are busy @ breakfast time (here's your sign!). What irritates me enough to post this was the order I placed this morning. I order online for curbside thinking it would be easier and my kids can sleep in. Pick up 8:08 and I live 3 minutes so I respond I am on my way @ 8:04. Arrive and post I have arrived and they respond, we see you and will bring your order out. 10 min go by and nothing, so I call the number on the curbside sign. Automated response "sorry we are currently busy and cannot come to the phone". Call the main line and get the same thing. I go in, now have been waiting for 15, and they can't find my food. They have the ticket but the line cook does not so now they have to make it. She said sorry we are really busy which was BS because they were not. There were @ least 5 tables open and no one waiting outside so that BS does not fly. Now 25 min waiting she brings me my order with no discount of any kind for making me wait almost 1/2 hour for freaking pancakes!!! Get home and the two orders of winter wonderland pancakes have 1/2 spoon of the icing, barely 1/2 ounce of they blue icing making up the "winter wonderland" and 4 freaking small marshmallows. WTF!!!! My kids were so disappointed. It is pancakes and not rocket science!!!!! To the lady in the Steelers jersey shouod get customer service training or go behind the line because your people/customer service skills are pretty bad. read more

Best service hands down the waitresses are all very friendly and very nice to my family they treat everyone with the best service possible even when it's busy. I appreciate the fact that they come back and ask if you need any else or how is your meal. I went in and had the pancakes with an egg white fajita omelette I got a Chile Serrano with a lime on the side I was very pleased with the presentation and the taste was beyond delicious. The rating of 4 is because I'm not a fan of the coffee but I love dark coffee and the coffee is very light and Just doesn't do it for me.
