Friday night dinner at IHOP--can it get any more festive than that? I think not! We had my breakfast-loving dad in tow, and whenever he can get breakfast for dinner, he's all in. So, we decided to try the new IHOP in Manawa. When we arrived around 5 PM, there wasn't much of a crowd, just a few tables with customers. We did have to wait a couple of minutes to be seated, but no big deal. Once seated, we were greeted by our server, who, bless her heart, had the worst case of hiccups. She could not get rid of them no matter how hard she tried and had to chat with us through the whole thing. She had already worked a full shift earlier in the day, so honestly, she deserves a medal for keeping it together! The restaurant itself had a clean and inviting atmosphere with cheerful pastel-colored chairs, which definitely added to the light, fun vibe. It was fresh, bright, and a pleasant place to enjoy a casual meal. We ordered drinks (coffee, iced tea, and a Diet Pepsi for me...(living on the wild side) and started looking over the menu. It had been literal YEARS since I've set foot in an IHOP, and I couldn't remember why! I was trying to pick something, but, as usual, I ended up second-guessing myself. My dad got the classic breakfast platter of eggs, bacon, and sausage. My husband went with the steak omelette, and I picked the House Scramble from the House Faves section because it seemed like a smaller portion, and I wasn't that hungry. It was a bacon, egg, and cheese scramble with hashbrowns. My husband promised I could try some of his pancakes when they came out, so I opted to skip the pancake route (WHY can't I just stick to my first choice?!). The food came out. My dad wasn't super impressed. He ate it but said he wouldn't want to return. He did, however, enjoy the coffee. My husband had no complaints about his steak omelette. He said it was hearty and filling. My scramble looked fine, and the hashbrowns were cooked crispy just as I ordered. But when I cut into the scramble, the cheese and eggs were mushy, grainy, and a bit gritty. I couldn't eat it. My husband tried it and said it was fine, but I wasn't having it. He ended up taking it home and finishing it the next day. I did enjoy the hashbrowns and half a pancake, though. That pancake was so good--light, fluffy, hot, and slightly vanilla-flavored. Everything I love in a pancake! If I ever go back, I'll definitely be sticking with pancakes. After all, it is in the name, right? Overall, it was a decent experience with friendly staff, a clean atmosphere, and cheerful decor. If I return, I'll keep it simple and just order the pancakes! read more

They set us back in a column between the 2 loudest tables in the place we couldn't have a conversation because they drowned our voices out. I ordered pancakes, they were very good. My boyfriend ordered and egg combo. His eggs were very scaly, they brought the toast out 5 minutes after the rest of the meal with no butter. It was not a good experience. read more

The food that I got from here(take out) was really good. The staff here are so kind and when I sat there, waiting on my order, I kept seeing folks that came in and the staff already knew them in person. When you have a very large group of regulars, that says a TON about the food and service. On this trip(I'm trying new things every visit) I got the French toast, two eggs and crispy bacon and the ham and cheese omelette with 2 pancakes. What did I think? The French toast is definitely a winner. I'm not sure how they make it, but the taste is rich and has some unknown flavoring that makes it the best French toast I've had. As for the ham and cheese omelette, it was sooo good, thick with melty cheese(quite a bit of it) and just a very good filling meal. The staff are WONDERFUL, helpful and work as a really good team. The place is clean, lot parking. Average prices. I even met a former Ames resident, who is a regular there, while waiting for my order. IHOP opened a few days ago in CB. We stopped on a Saturday evening for a meal. We both ordered the same breakfast. Chicken fried chicken. Am not going to write anything critical of the waitresses or service in general. This was probably their first busy evening. I will say the waitress was sincere and obviously nervous. She was unsure about how much to talk with us, and had to repeat trips because of forgetting. Without meaning to we confused her with requests or comments. BUT This will improve for all of them working there. My review is centered towards the actual food. Keep in mind EVERYTHING they serve EXCEPT bacon, eggs, pancakes etc are frozen. The piece of meat seemed to have been deep fried, it tasted pretty good though. Pancakes could have been cooked a little longer. My wife's pancakes didn't arrive at the table till she had almost finished her dinner. This is where a more experienced waitress exerts herself in the kitchen to get them out much faster. We both ordered scrambled eggs, they tasted like they had been poured from a container. It had been years since my last meal in an IHOP as that last meal was really bad, it was one day traveling across the country I discovered an IHOP to eat at. They didn't appear to have changed their basic goals, which to me seems to be a clean place with a positive attitude for a family. Quality food is probably a secondary priority. There might be disagreement on this, but buy better quality food and cook it better. OH, be are that these meals were both just below $20 with a drink. This was the middle of the menu. Recommend this place? Can you get a better meal of pancake and chicken fried chicken better and cheaper else? They aren't selling high or even middle quality. We waited five minutes to be seated and weren't greeted or acknowledged. After being seated, we waited ten minutes and the waiter looked at us several times. After ten minutes we got up to leave. The waiter said well oh well then. We were there for my son's birthday. No one around us had food, the hostess clearly had no training and they were way too overwhelmed as staff members. This was my first time at an IHOP and I was let down. To start off, the chocolate milk, you could not really taste the chocolate so it may as well of been white milk. I ordered a French toast and just like previous yelp reviews it was room temp and just bad until I added syrup Next up the service, we sat and sat for over an hour watching people get their food before us. Overall the workers just looked like they didn't care about us. The ambiance actually wasn't half bad. The music was very peaceful; I went to the bathroom and was surprised with a very nice and cozy bathroom. It was a little hard to find but once I did I was not let down. read more

Really tried to cut them some slack since it's newer. But the service was so bad. Waitress came back every 25 minutes? My toast was also hard as a rock no joke I would have injured my mouth had I taken a bite. I wish it was better because it's a convenient 24/7 place but I can't justify going back. read more

Food was okay, service was alright, to start off I ordered a Dr Pepper but they didn't have any I was told it was being unloaded from the delivery truck and I would get it once it was unloaded ended up getting a lemonade instead. I did order the combo breakfast and if I'm not mistaken it comes with eggs hashbrowns sausage , bacon & pancakes I did let my server know I didn't want bacon if I could substitute it for sausage but wasn't given the other two. I ate my eggs hashbrowns and sausage first & pancakes last, once I was about to eat my second pancake I realized it had little metal shavings on top so I left it we did inform our server but she acted like she didn't see it until we pointed out that their was more then one so she grabbed the plate took it to the back and came back saying we can give you more pancakes , no apologies or anything just a I can give you two more pancakes. An apology would've been greatly appreciated or a little discount would've been nice. read more

We went for breakfast when they first opened and it was miserable; the food was mediocre and cold and we waited an hour to receive our food. But we know openings are difficult, so we chalked it up and, last week, returned for breakfast. It was very uncomfortable. When we walked in, there was a line of people in black uniforms standing directly facing the front door... you could barely reach the hostess to check in. I could only wonder, "Don't these people have anything to do?" Then we had to walk past the line of black uniforms to go to our table... it felt like we were being inspected! This time, our food was GREAT; kudos to the cooks! Our server was friendly but WOULD NOT leave us alone. She approached the table and interrupted our conversation at least 12 times; I lost count. And I HATE the digital checkout process, especially when she had difficulty, made comments to that effect, and made us part of the uncomfortable process of ringing up the check. AND I HATE having a machine stuck in my face to leave a tip. We will not be back. VERY weird and uncomfortable way of doing business. read more

Service- Took forever to ask us what we wanted to eat and didn't know which drink was which. Kept saying they'd come back but took 15-20 minutes each time. Refilled drinks very quickly though. We visited IHOP in Council Bluffs Iowa today. It was not real busy. We were greeted and seated promptly. The waitress took our order. My husband and I both had pancakes, eggs and I had bacon, he had sausage. A gentleman brought our food to us. It was all cold. Not even warm enough to make the butter on the pancakes soft. The butter was hard and cold, the eggs and pancakes were cold. The waitress stopped by after we had eaten about half of it and asked how it was. I said our food was delivered cold. She commented that if I had told her sooner she could have had it fixed. I probably would have said something sooner if I had seen her sooner. She brought the bill and asked if we needed anything else. I said no, we were finished. She said well I hope it's better next time. Pretty sure there won't be a next time. read more
