Our daughter Alex had the birria tacos and carne asada fries. The tacos were tasty, though a little on the small side, but the carne asada fries were fantastic. Umai! (I am a Rengoku fan; if you know, you know.) I highly recommend it. Our other daughter, Sam, ordered the birria grilled cheese and elote fries, and both were really good. Her cherryade was especially refreshing. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed, though the dining area and patio felt a bit bare. A few plants outside and inside would really warm the place up and give it more character. The music was pretty good with indie hits in there. I also tried the Old Fashioned. It was definitely strong, which I appreciated, but it felt like it was missing a touch of sweetness or something to round it out. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, and I'd absolutely go back and try more on the menu. Their waitstaff was top-notch and really were on their game. The restaurant has good ingredients and solid ideas--it just feels like a few flavour balances could be dialed in a little more.

The waitress was nice, but evidently didn't know that when the food isn't good, you aren't supposed to be charged for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered a steak and they burned it!!! And I don't mean that it was a little charred!! It was tough, and inedible. It was supposed to be a Whiskey Steak, but there was no gravy or sauce. To replace it, the waitress offered me another steak, but I had no confidence in their cooks, so I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken. Unfortunately, the cooks didn't bother to season it, NOT even with salt and pepper! So, it had no flavor!!! It is hard to mess up chicken, but they did!!! I must say the french fries were good. For some reason it took a long time to get my food, BOTH TIMES!!! Evidently, while they were burning my steak, they were also cooking other folks' food and sending it out quickly!!! I saw several folks arrive around the same time that I did and some after I got there, and they got their food very quickly!!! I can NOT recommend this restaurant!!!
