It's National Pancake Day 2025. I was expecting it to be a madhouse here, but I was seated right away. People were coming and going ppreet efficiently. I was asked to make a donation to Feeding America before being seated, since they're sponsoring the day. I was seated near the front so I couldnt see how big the restaurant was. I like my pancakes well done, but this is the first time I've gotten pancakes here where parts were a little crispy. The butter and syrup helped balance it out. On a friday at noon, we decided to visit IHOP on Route 27 in Franklin Park. Maybe 10 other customers were there. Had to wait about 10 minutes to have someone at least take our drink order.Ordered decaf tea with lemon and an iced tea. We were brought regular tea with half and half milk. Trying to get our waitress, another one asked if she could get us something, and was told they do not have decaf tea , so we asked for lemon and was brought milk. After placing our order, burgers without buns , we were brought dried out burgers with buns. While eating, we were constantly swatting little black flies/gnats. Never did a waitress come to see if we needed anything else or is anything was all right. Another waitress brought us the bill. I asked to speak to a manager, of whom came to our table and could care less about our concerns. HE said that when we returned we could have a discount...do you really think we would come back???!! We paid the bill, as HE had no customer care and left. STAY AWAY!! You would think , since you never see this place having more than 20 people in it, they would try to up the service and the attitudes..NOPE! Besides the bad service the food was just as bad. The IHOP on Route 1 in North Brunswick is a much better choice! read more

Very disappointing experience from the moment we were seated. There was a horrible smell & we had asked to change tables. The hostess told us it was from some kids eating popcorn. The smell was not that but smelled more like dirty mop water. After being reseated none of the utensils were clean. I had a fork that still had someone's left over eggs on them. Who can argue with IHOP's pancakes, they're fantastic. The only problem is there's no one here to argue with. IHOP may just have gone AI and robotics one better and staffed their restaurants entirely with ghosts and poltergeists since there's seldom any visible staff inside. As soon as you're seated, everyone disappears. If the batter's made maybe I'll slip into the kitchen and grill a stack or two myself... This IHOP is less than 5-minutes from our home. It's a newer IHOP so it does look cleaner and more updated than other IHOPs we've been at. I think it's weird that their kids meals don't have a choice of juice beverage included without a surcharge. Service is okay and food is cooked as requested. read more

This was good for an IHOP. Not that I don't love IHOP, I just never find them to be a 5 star experience. The server was nice and the place was pretty calm and clean for an IHOP at 2pm on a Sunday. My favorite part, which applies to all IHOPs, were the newer additions to the menu. By the IHOP Creations. I had the pancake sliders which were breakfast sandwich with pancakes as the bun. I love this place. The food is good. I can never finish my whole meal, the pancakes fill me up, and they are so good. The omelettes are amazing and I get them just the way I like them. I like this IHOP and it's my default breakfast place when I am too lazy to be a foodie about it. Comfortable and simple. This IHOP is actually busy most of the time. Usually when I come there is a short wait of like 5 or so minutes. Service is usually good and I can't recall a bad experience personally. Most chain restaurants are usually a three in my mind. Just standard fare. So it's not bad I'm giving it three, it's just standard place and nothing bad really. We had the worst server we have experienced (almost for the feel of being prejudiced as observing her behavior with other tables it was clear she could be nicer). She had way too many rules than I have heard of at other iHops. When we got to the restaurant, there were 2 other tables. 20min later our food totally cold (eggs, pancakes, potatoes, everything). It took another 20 min to get the attention of our waitress. When we complained to her we were told they were now busy and we needed to wait a long time if we wanted to replaced the food. We had a lovely experience at dinner. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Our order came out quickly and correctly. It tasted great too. I would definitely recommend this restaurant! Was here on Friday morning with my wife and daughter. Seated promptly, and looked over the menu. Waitress comes over a minute later asking if we were ready yet to order. Said that we needed a few more minutes. She seemed a little put off by this since we had just sat down and started looking over the menus. She then asked if we wanted anything to drink, wife, daughter, and I said coffee would be great. A minute later, she brings the coffee, asked if we were ready yet. Figured go ahead and order since she seemed a little bit annoyed that we didn't order the first time. We ordered our food, and 10 minutes later, we get it. The food was really nothing to rave about. We finished eating, and we get the check. We were charged for 3 cups of coffee instead of the pitcher price! Not sure of this, but she must have decided that since we didn't order right away, she decided to charge us more for the coffee! I've been to other IHOP's, and never been charge for separate cups of coffee before! And the place wasn't even that busy while we were there! IHOP is a solid 3 stars. This location is a couple of years old. I've been 3 or 4 times. This last time I visited on a Saturday morning. The wait was about 15 minutes. As with all breakfast spots, be prepared to wait on the weekends. I got the smart and fit omelette, I think it was called. I got hash browns instead of fruit as my side. I still felt healthy as I walked out. I was very happy with my choice. Sometimes I'll go for the 1000 cal + choices but this time around I was happy with my healthy option. The coffee was also on point! The service was a little slow this past time but that is expected with a fully busy breakfast diner/restaurant. No complaints. Typical IHOP fare. I think One star is too high of a rating for this particular IHOP. I was there last night with my granddaughters who were so excited to have the elf on the shelf pancakes. Not only was my experience awful due to the fact that the restaurant was empty and it took 15 minutes to get a seat, it took a half an hour to get our food, but the quality of the food once it arrived was poor. My pancakes were crunchy. They were probably old. But the worst part of my experience was the fact that my grandchildren got to listen to awful profanity, cursing, yelling, screaming and laughing from the kitchen staff. The F word was loud and clear. I looked for someone at the front desk to speak to you on my way out, but there was no one. And, there was no one there to greet us when we arrived. Well. What can I say. We chose to come to IHOP because of an Entertainment Book coupon on the mobile app. The Entertainment Book is a well established company that cannot offer coupons willy nilly. So for IHop to claim they can't honor the coupon because we didn't print it, when it's clearly a mobile coupon, is ludicrous. To me, and I'm sure others in this situation, this is fraud. Advertising through the Entertainment Book to lure customers in and then not honor their coupon. In the end. They should have just had good customer service and honored the promo. Instead. My kids love iHOP, so had to try this one few times. What I can say is, being a family restaurant they don't have friendly wait staff; specially a middle aged guy. Every time comes with an attitude in his face as if he is doing a favor serving the food. Unfortunately I get him every time I visit there. I even complained few times too with no use. New IHOP on Route 27, Franklin Park, NJ. Opened about 3-4 weeks ago. *Absolutely horrible service*. Food served very long after ordering. It was received cold, no appologies from staff. Not all items brought with food (never got my garlic bread with meal, daughter didn't get her cole slaw with meal, my wife never got her broccoli with her entre). Waiter said he was replacement for that table's waitress...prepping us for problems. He wasn't prepared to serve table (didn't know what for soupmy of the day was, didn't know vegetables for the day). Another waitress took forever to replenish my unsweetened Iced Tea. The replacement was the sweetened raspberry which I originally reminded her I couldn't have. I took one taste and immediately had to shout to her about the problem. She could have killed me. I'm diabetic. The entire wait staff didn't have an inkling of showing any interest in pleasing the customer...the woman manager only did after I went to the kitchen to track her down...and still, after seeing all the problems, didn't appologize nor acknowledge the problems. Owner of the place made me do a tapdance to get any sort of comp. He said "but you ate the food, right?" I told him I did out of frustration that it came so late (three quarters of the way the rest of the table already ate...my chicken was served room temperature, the mashed potatoes were actually colder than that; I had them prepare a fresh order for me which took about 15 minutes to make while I watched my family eat their meals and await the items that they didn't yet receive) that I was about to throw up from the aggrevation. He only comped me a small percentage because I started shouting. No interest in seeing a problem resolved to customer satisfaction. In the time my family was there, three couples had arrived, waited and left before being served. Stay away from this new IHOP on Route 27 at the Franklin Park, Kendall Park border at all costs.
