My best friend and I were in desperate need of some girl talk, and after driving around for 20 minutes we decided on iHop. Our waiter was manning the whole floor and considering the area he was covering I would say that he did a good job. My order: Silver dollar pancakes, bacon and cheese eggs. Her order: strawberry cheesecake pancakes, eggs, hash browns and bacon. Oh, and we both ordered salted caramel hot chocolate l, pretty but they were entirely too sweet!!! All of our food came out pretty quickly and it was yahoo good! We would definitely come back because we had a whole section to ourselves and we were able to talk and catch up. October 31st Sunday. My girlfriend and I went to IHOP for breakfast. However we called IHOP first, then asked if we need to make a reservation. The IHOP employee answered the phone stated " no we don't make reservations". When we arrived there was a couple waiting ahead of us and the host advised us it would be a half hour wait. We said ok and waited until called. During the time we were waiting to be seated there was a party of 7 that immediately got a table, then a young couple came in and they too were immediately seated. Others were hitting there glass trying to get someone to come so they could pay. Went up front and were told to go back to there seat to pay. I had absolutely zero complaints about this location and surprised to see the rating so low. Service was great, food was delicious and served on time. Everything tasted freshly cooked. Was surprised to see such low/average reviews for this IHOP, because our experience was fantastic. When you come on a Sunday morning, it's going to be a madhouse so that's to be expected and our wait was very reasonable considering. We had some of the best and friendliest service we've ever had at an IHOP (been to many across the country). They were awesome, very accommodating and all smiles. The food was great, everything came out together, hot and fresh. The cinnamon roll pancakes are insanely good. Just got to Portland and this IHOP is a convenient two minute walk from the hotel near the airport. Holy smokes! The dominant rating for this 24 hour IHOP at Cascade Station is 1 star. What? Are we talking about the same IHOP? I first noticed this place when driving to IKEA. It's about 3 blocks before you get to IKEA, on the right. I've eaten here twice - once at odd hours and once for breakfast. Sure, you can debate which is better - IHOP or Denny's - and it won't matter. What matters to me is that this is a very nice IHOP and I'm echoing another Yelper's comment that this is the nicest IHOP they've been to. I would agree with that. I'm going to go with 4 stars. The location and the facility, for being an IHOP, get 4 stars. The service gets 4 stars. On both occasions, seating was immediate, the order was promptly taken, the food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, and the caliber of the service was very good, especially the first time when being waited on by a guy who had a goofy and much appreciated sense of humor. The food is standard IHOP, so it gets a reliable 3 stars. I believe this tips the IHOP at Cascade Station over into 4 star land for Yelp purposes. We stopped in, with a group of about 15. We rearranged an area so we could all talk, and took over the server's time. Though at first, they seemed taken back, the staff rallied and came through. But having tired of the same breakfast buffet of the Hyatt, decided to walk over as it's pretty much right next door. I actually had great service. Our waitress was very attentive and happy. Sorry to all the others that had bad ones. I will say there were about 3 other surrounding tables that were not cleaned for most of our breakfast meal. She was not the one assigned to that. Apparently a new hire was left to do that duty. Me and the kid split a crepe combo. 2 banana nutella crepes came with scrambled eggs, hash-browns and your choice of meat. She opted for the sausages. She ate the crepes and said they were "moisturized". Wth is that? But that's the word a 12yr old uses. I think she means wet or soggy? I make crepes all the time and they are not moisturized. Lol. The hash-browns were very flaky and loose. I'm use to a crunch with some of it sticking together. Not here. The eggs were actually ok. All in all, I still like IHOP, but will go maybe once a year. Please, please - don't go here! We thought we would try this place because our regular breakfast restaurant wasn't open yet. Should have waited. First off the waitress, though probably not her fault - she seemed to be a former drug addict (and after all it is a disease), started explaining that the service was bad because she had a rough night. Very professional. Then when we finally got our food my wife's crepes were doughy and cold and my omelet was just warm and the hollandaise sauce had been overcooked and was curdled. So we took one bite and paid for the food and left. The only positive thing was the intestinal cleanse that took place afterward. What a joke. Bad experience start to finish. We were sat in a section with a large loud party. There were plenty of open seats elsewhere. When they left it was quiet. We were the only ones in the entire section. That said, they sat the next group in the adjoining booth. My seat was bucking the rest of the night. We ordered food. I asked for 3 eggs over easy. I got 3 eggs over raw. The whites were mostly runny. I ordered red potato hash with onions. I got diced regular potatoes, no hash. When I asked where the hash was they said there is no hash even though that's what it's called and we know it is deceptive. He said others have complained but they don't write the menus. How about training the staff to mention this when people order it?! No responsibility taken by the manager. No ownership. No compensation. No make good. Just a cheesy smile and it is what it is.
