Where do I begin. Seems like every ihop has its pros & cons but to review this one........The wait wasn't that bad however a fire a hazard and they are not prepared for a brunch rush. But great teamwork and communication amongst the team during the intense situation. CON we were seated and not greeted by a server for at least 15 mins. She then took another 10min to get water. We decided to order right then before we lost her again. By this time the rush was dying down. It's officially going on an hour and NO FOOD!! then when I finally got my food burnt hasbrowns and over cooked pancakes..... Not to mention i never got the straws I asked for. Lol. My husband and I come here OFTEN on a weekend when we don't want to cook breakfast, or lunch or both when we wake up late. The service and food have always been excellent!!! I'm sorry to see all the bad reviews. Yes the wait has been long for us too, seating and food, but always worth it. My husband loves the pancakes and omelettes. This is a newer IHOP, so it has a decent feel to it. The place is mostly windows, so there is a lot of light and people watching to be had here. I somehow end up in this place, when my husband is looking for pancakes or something on the breakfast menu. I usually get the bruschetta grilled chicken sandwich. They are pretty good most of the time. This last time, my bottom bun was so soaked in the oil from the bruschetta mix, it fell apart. Not impressed. We were way in the back and the waiter did come some of the time. What saved him, was the fact our coupons had expired a week before and what he did next. We had them sitting under the coffee pot. He came rang us up, wished us a happy day and that was it. However, we were still talking and about ten minutes later he came back and said, give me your coupons, I am going to rering your order and give you a free meal. WOW.. okay So, he did just that. He told me they take expired coupons all the time. We wondered, if it was us taking pictures of some of the food because the girl up front was the first one to point out our coupons had expired, and her 'oh too bad' attitude followed.... I was surprised that not much people were here on a Sunday morning, maybe we just missed the rush. Regardless, my party and I got seated right away. Looked like they were going through construction but I didn't mind it at all Our waiter was very nice and outgoing. He took our orders and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Although, the couple next to us got their food first even though we arrived first. Pancakes were good and I love their selection of syrups. Overall good experience. One downside was I could hear the waiters and waitresses talking about what they're doing after work and heard a bit of cursing. This isn't very professional, especially in a family restaurant, but what you expect, they're teenagers. Our waiter was also nice enough to give me a free refill on my orange juice so that was awesome. There is only two iHops in Portland so I rather come to this location than the 82nd one. read more

I'm a big fan of local and unique places much more than part of a big chain like this but I can't hold that against them since I was the one who chose to come here! We just got home and needed breakfast close to the airport. Saw the 'not so great' reviews after we ordered. Thankfully we didn't wait as long as most and our server checked in with us several times. The food itself was just OK, the meat items (bacon, sausage and ham) were a little greasier than desired. When I lifted my top pancake to spread some butter on the bottom one, I noticed the bottom pancake was practically destroyed with the top pancake hiding it. No biggie! This IHOP just opened up, and as I drive past it several times a week on my way home from the super early morning job, I decided to try it out. First off, it's open 24 hours a day. This gets huge bonuses from me as it's hard to find a place where you can eat any time of day, and breakfast is served all day. My favorite. There were barely any other people there when the hubs and I showed up, which is actually a plus for me as I kind of hate people in general. This is sure to change once more people realize this location: A) exists and B) is open. Its a pretty large place though, so I'm sure they can still manage to seat me far from others if I bug them enough about it. While it's no Mother;s or Screen Door, etc. The food is actually pretty decent, and with the size of the restaurant coupled with the current low traffic it's in and out of this place before you'd likely even get seated at the more popular breakfast joints in town, plus the prices are low while the portions are huge. read more

The place was empty... A single table already sitting when we got there. Stood at the front door for nearly 10 minutes before someone greeted us. Once seated the server seemed frazzled, and loudly told a busser to come get our drink order. We ordered two hot cocoas... But never got them. Didn't even get water, actually. We asked if we could just order right now and the gal said we could. My young daughter and I ordered a stack of hotcakes and a side of bacon... Making certain to tell her we were sharing the large portion. Food took an awfully long time, especially since it was a simple order, right off the menu with no substitutions or anything. When the food did finally arrive the bacon was brought first (super thin (see through!), puddle of grease on the plate with it) and then a few moments goes by before someone dropped the pancake plate at the table as they rushed by without even hesitating to ask if we needed anything else... an extra plate would have been nice, at the least... or my cocoa. No one came back by the table to check on us and ask if everything was all right. In fact, we thought it was quite strange that with (at least) 8 employees in the place we literally did not see or hear a single one of them for the entire time we were eating. When we were finished with our food we waited... and waited... and waited more for someone to come back. Just as I was getting up to go to the front counter and request our bill I saw our server come around the corner and get on the computer. Heard her mumble under her breath and then disappear... only to reappear a few moments later with our cocoas. I pointed at our nearly empty plates and said "Sorry,we dont want them now. We have been finished eating for some time and need to get to the airport for an arriving plane". She "harumped" a bit with an exaggerated sigh and walked away. But never returned with our bill. I finally just went to the front counter and asked the gal that came out if we could pay our bill, as we needed to go. She said she couldnt do it and had to go find our server. She picked up a phone and asked someone something, then turned back to us and asked how everything was (A first for the evening!!). So I told her. "We waited a long time to be sat, the pancakes were extremely dry and the bacon grossly oiled, we never got our ordered drinks, let alone some water, no one checked on us and we were going to be late getting to the airport at this point while we are waiting on their employees, again". At this point our server finally made an appearance. She came to the front counter and said not to worry about the bill she was going to take care of it for us, and then walked away. No apology, no explanation, nothing. And still only one other table in the place besides us... I certainly wasnt expecting a gourmet meal, people... its IHOP. What I did expect was some friendliness and at the very least a glass of water with my ultra dry and hard to even swallow pancakes. Notes to Management: 1. There is NO NEED to employ at least 8 people in the front of the house on such a slow night... some of them could have been sent home early to save some funds from the company coffer being spent on them hanging out in the kitchen and doing nothing constructive. 2. With those saved funds from sending people home early when they arent needed you should think about hiring a group who is more attuned to customer service and has some pride in what they do, and the want to take care of their customers appropriately. 3. Having the back door (next to the parking lot) blocked off and with yellow caution/danger tape around it makes the place look like an active crime scene... we almost didnt even come in because it didnt appear to be open for business. read more

I never thought I'd sing the praises of IHOP in a Yelp review, but here I am, doing just that! It was my mom's husband's birthday, the day before Father's Day. They had just flown into PDX, and I surprised them by showing up at the airport and taking them out to dinner. Cascade Station was totally packed, naturally. We were waiting for a table at Famous Dave's, but mom's husband was getting impatient (hello, they said 40 minutes and it's only been 20!), and suggested we walk across the street to IHOP. Insert eye roll here...but we did it. It was his birthday, after all. If he wanted to spend it there, so be it. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waiter, Jeremy, who provided some of the best service I've ever had throughout the course of the evening. He was attentive, kept the refills coming, and was a genuinely nice person. Our food was fresh and came fast. My stuffed french toast platter totally hit the spot, and kudos to Jeremy for offering turkey bacon. The price? Reasonable, of course. Although I'd never admit it to the birthday boy, I think we enjoyed ourselves more at IHOP than if we'd waited for our table at FD's. If I'm in the 'hood catching a flight, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in for a quick bite here. read more

Family took us here because they like it. Sunday 11:30 AM we arrive.. its crowed we wait 15 minutes to get a 5 person booth. Not bad for a Sunday Brunch time. 10 Minutes later 11:55 we get asked for drink order 10 Minutes later Drinks come and meal order is taken. 25 minutes later no food!!! Ask another staff person about our food as our waitress as MIA.. 12:35 Sorry your meal will be here in 5 minutes (IE they never had the order or it dried out under the lamps in the kitchen, 5 minutes is what it takes to cook breakfast. 12:36 we said good bye to our family and headed back to hotel to check out before deadline that afternoon. It's an IHOP so all expectations start there. The basics should be what are expected right? A greeting when you walk in, show you to your table, take your order, bring your food, check in, bring your check. Easy. This IHOP absolutely crushed step 1. The nice young lady smiled and showed us to our table. It all went terribly wrong from that point forward. We were seated at the very back where there is an exit only door and the floor is tile, not carpet like the rest of the restaurant. I have seen cleaner and less sticky floors in the men's room at sporting events! Absolutely disgusting. To add insult to injury we had the absolute displeasure of having a filthy trash can being pushed THROUGH THE RESTAURANT and through the exit only doors letting in a gusts of 42 degree air. Gusts in not an exaggeration, our napkins and menus nearly blew off the table. Of course, the poor fellow wheeling the filthy trash can through the restaurant had to get back in and we were once again greeted with the cold gust of air, the very loud sound of plastic wheels on sticky tile, the site of a trash can and the painful reminder that we made a poor choice. We had plenty of time to discuss our experience, so far, as we waited for someone, anyone, to acknowledge our existence. It was not busy and there were plenty of open tables when we arrived. Finally, after close to 15 minutes our server showed up. He was a nice young man and it was clear that he was doing his best. "Are you ready to order or do you need more time?" Do we need more time? I could have read your menu AND War and Peace by now even with the gusts of air and loud trash can encounters rolling over a sticky floor! We ordered. Nothing complex, just two simple requests: 1. No whip cream and 2. Fresh strawberries as opposed to the strawberry compote. When the food finally arrived it was mostly right, except for the whipped cream and strawberry compote!! To be fair, the compote was on the side and whoever delivered the food politely explained that they do not have fresh strawberries. Sigh. The food was fine. We had to flag down a grey shirt, as far as I can tell the folks in the grey shirts have the power at IHOP, to ask for our bill. Finally, 70 minutes later it was our turn to open the exit only doors and let in the gust of very cold air. read more

Terrible. Waited 10minutes before asking for the server to come to our table, took another 40 minutes for the food to get served (there were only 2 of us). We both got egg meals, she didn't offer any ketchup or hot sauce, we had to ask. My dad's country omelette had barely any ham in it. He got the "fresh fruit", it was sent back, looked old. My Tuscan scramble was fine, potatos were bland and the onions were not cooked. The server did comp our coffee, but still charged my dad's extra gravy rather than changing it to the side. It wasn't busy when we first got there... I wouldn't want to be there when it is. Only reason we stayed was because we were both hungry and waiting for traffic to subside. After reading earlier reviews of a server adding a tip, we paid cash. Wish I would have started a stopwatch when we first got there. read more

First, let me say, that you cannot go wrong with the food at IHOP. It is always delicious, and their menu is so big, I have a very hard time deciding what to eat. The reason I am giving this review only 2 stars, is the service. This is not the first, or fifth time I have eaten at this particular IHOP. With the exception of one visit, the restaurant has been practically empty every time, and service takes forever. There were four of us, and we had to wait about 5 minutes for anyone to even come up front to greet us, and sit us at our table. My manager had to get up, and find a waitress to request more coffee; we had been sitting there for 20 minutes without our food, and without coffee refills. Then, when they waitress brought our food, she brought my French fries....no ketchup. I waited for 10 minutes for her to come and see how everything was, and to ask for ketchup. She never came. One of my party actually got up, and went to a dirty table and took the ketchup off of that table. The waitress didn't come back to ask us how everything was, until we were finished. I love IHOP, but I just don't think I will ever go back to this one. The service is so horrible; each and every time I am there. I will go to Red Robin across the street, where I always get excellent service. read more

I'm so bummed. This place went down three stars for me. I had such nice experience in the past with this location but my recent visit was poor. I was waiting for my friend to get off work at the airport so we decided to meet up at this IHOP. I let my server know that it's going to be awhile until my friend arrives so she got my coffee. She came up once more I think to ask how I was, told her I was still waiting, so she nodded and left. I waited until my friend showed up which was about an hour later. My server never once returned. We sat with out menus closed for fifteen minutes and saw a different server and the manager walk by, giving us confused looks. My server was no where in site and I figured if she was going home she would have to transfer her table to another server. However she showed up, and even looked at me, and then never came back. My friend and I were drumming our hands on the table and just decided that it wasn't worth it. I got up and went to the hostess stand to pay for my coffee. The manager came up, surprised and asked if I only had coffee, and I said yes. She looked over at my table and noticed the menus and apologized and said they would cover my coffee cost. As a server I've had customers stay in my section for hours and hours and I always accommodate them no matter how long. I've found that at this location you get the best service between 7am-4pm. When it hits dinner time and night time things start to go downhill. I'll be back next time because this is the only ihop in pdx that has ok food. read more

Took another 10 minutes from being seated to being able to place a basic order.. which took 45 minutes to arrive. A manager approached our table asking specific questions about our server and our experience... our feed back resulted in glares from the server after the manager spoker with her... The manager proceeded to deliver a plate of french fries as a gesture of appology, which was kind, wasnt really a good match with our breakfast items. Great service on our last visit. Servers were attentive and dealt well with a toddler and his associated messes. Service was quick--we were there during an off peak time. It is pretty new inside and has a good open feel. Food was reasonable, no complaints here. And it is supposedly open 24 hours. read more

Bad service.... Great FOOD We waited 10min after being seated for our server. After bringing our water we waited 15 minutes for him to take our order. Waited half an hour for our food. He did not give us any refills on our water. When we were done waited 10 minutes for him to take our plates. Thinking he's gonna bring our check back. We waited another 15 minutes till I decided to get up and ask. Host said to wait for our server. Waited 5 minutes till I walked in the back to find him talking story. I asked for my check and just paid for my food. I still gave um a dollar. And that is really low bad tip. Because I know being a waiter is a hard working job. So I always make sure I tip good. I would have tipped him a lot if he came refilled our waters. Or apologizes for the inconvenience. But he did not. Sucked as a server. The food is really GREAT. BIG UPS TO THE CHIEFS. The worst service ever and the food isn't much better! Jose at the front desk is extremely rude and not helpful at all. My mom came in here and told Jose she had a daughter and 2 kids that were going to be in, in about 10 min. When I get there I get to the front and say my mom is here waiting. Jose replies I don't know who that is he then points to the waiting section and shrugs his shoulders. I say, well maybe she was sat at a table. Jose replied I don't know what she looks like you walk around and find her. I find mom my sitting at the table and proceed to tell her how rude Jose was. She tells me when she got in she explained she was waiting for me and my kids Jose must have forgot in 7 min or was just absolutely rude and hates his job so he didn't want to do it. Then the waitress gets to the table and she couldn't crack a smile to save her life. Food was mediocre. Waiting for the food for 30 minutes was unacceptable. Waiting...waiting...mind you I am at front desk where i am waiting to be greeted and provide a name for one person. No counter eating at this location, no worries. Like i said half empty. Waiting....waiting, being seen by 3 employees...waiting, waiting, no greeting or acknowledgement of hello be right with you. You know the polite stuff. Oh finally 2 come up when 2 more people enter. No acknowledgement again, not even to the 2 others standing behind me. They start seating the 3 small groups waiting. Then finally a direct look at me. No hello or smile but, "There is a 5 minute wait." Mmmmkay. I say "Good Morning! (Not difficult) Just one please." Reply, There is a 5 minute wait." Ohhhh kay i am thinking sheesh, just said that and wait is fine. Still no smile or gretting. Sounds silly but what a way to be greeted, very nice Manager training their staff here.
