I'm not sure what's going on with this location but this was my second visit in 30 days and I had issues on both visits. My first visit was slow service and they made my food all wrong, they gave me pork and I don't eat pork. The second issue was on Nov 30, my son and I visited and there was a black hair in my son's side of bananas and strawberries. I had checked my food and it was fine. I told the busboy and he went and retrieved my server I think her name was bre or Breanna, she apologized and remade his whole dish. He was hungry so I gave him my food and I waited until they fixed his food. They brought the remake, no more hair and I just took the food to go. Our waitress had ONE other table. Just one. With two people. We were a group of two adults with three kiddos and we had to FLAG her down repeatedly for various items. The hostess or someone I can presume is as such, kept talking to her and stopping her before her trips back and forth. Incredibly sad showing for an IHOP. Walking in, my guest and I expected it to be busy. However, simply getting our name on the waiting list was a chore. The woman at the registered asked me a combination of what my name was and how many were in my party about three times and thought it was hilarious when she tried to spell my name. Quite unprofessional. Next came our seating. The seating area is quite claustrophobic, and this mini divider that we had between our table and the one next to us was so loose that every time the rowdy group of people next to us bumped into it, it would spill some of our coffee and water on the table. As we were seated, we sat there for about 15 minutes until one of the cooks pointed over to our table and noticed that we looked a little annoyed that we hadn't been helped yet. The table next to use waited just as long. Our food came out after a while, and it was nothing worth waiting for. Burned bacon, burned on the outside and under-cooked on the inside hash browns, soggy rubbery eggs, and luke-warm pancakes. Got the bill. Paid with a card, then my card disappeared for a while. Saw the waitress walking around with the card for a few minutes which is very wrong to do. All in all, quite a poor showing at this IHOP. Most of the time while I was looking around waiting, most of the servers are standing near the kitchen and not in the dining room, so I feel like that is majority of the problem. So there was a domestic violence in the restaurant this morning about 12:45am. The wait staff witnessed it as they were delivering food as this husband got in his 12-year-old son's face and absolutely berated him with f bombs and calling him a loser! The whole restaurant could hear it. The wife had to get in between the father and son so the father didn't strike the son. We got up to leave and I told the staff you need to call the police. Nobody called the police so we called the police, they came up addressed the situation and we went back into the restaurant. We were then asked if we were the couple involved in the altercation. International House of Pancakes or IHOP is one of those restaurants where you can get a lot of different stuff but it's main draw is that it's open 24 hours. However, Jeffrey B. and I ventured in the daylight hours to the local IHOP because we got a BOGO coupon in the mail. Free meal? We're all about it. This IHOP is located at 12 Mile and Woodward. It's near the Shrine of the Little Flower. This is the most awkwardly laid out IHOP ever. The door is the middle of the restaurant and you walk into this convergence of the hostess stand, entrance to seating areas and the kitchen entrance. Needless to say it's always a traffic jam. In the seating areas, the seats are close together and in an odd configuration. The food at IHOP doesn't really seem international. Sure they may have a Denver omelette and a crepe and a blintz, but it's still pretty American. The food is pretty expensive for what it is. For example you can get an omelette for $9 when you could go and probably get an identical or better omelette at National Coney Island for $4.75. Then there are strange dishes like "Tilapia with hollandaise" which didn't appeal to me at all. The real draw is the pancakes. They are fluffy and golden and have a good flavor. You used to get hot maple syrup served with them. Now all the syrups are laid out in a caddy on the table. The choices are old fashioned (maple), butter pecan, strawberry and blueberry. There was a boysenberry one that they used to have but it wasn't there this last time. Also, you used to get coffee on the table in a carafe but the waitress said that they weren't supposed to do that anymore. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. The food was hot and was cooked well. The place seemed pretty clean. Overall, I think there are better and/or cheaper breakfast options than IHOP. But this place was ihopping when we were there, so they must be doing something right. It wasn't the most amazing experience, but I'd go back with another coupon. read more

From there on it was a series of employees feeding and talking among themselves, using cleaning products near and over the food being taken to the 2 tables and a 60 minute wait for my simple take out, which they got wrong. Once I got home and we looked at the mess I not only paid for but tipped for as well, we had to dump it in the trash. I did complain on the website for all the good it did! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! First of all the parking lot and restaurant was empty on a Saturday evening, that should have been my first clue. The restaurant is not clean. The bathroom was filthy. The floors were nasty and the eating utensils were dirty. I had to ask for plastic utensils. The cook was eating, touching his face and scratching his head while cooking. The chicken strips and fries for my kid were both greasy, some of the fries were done some were not and the chicken strips were overcooked. I ordered the spinach omelette and it was overcooked and the spinach was raw. My side order of turkey sausages were cold but cooked so they were probably made earlier in the day.
