    My meal

Service sucks, they get your drinks then you have to wait and hour to actually say your order. Ambiance is pretty good. Food tastes bland as hell and it looks like they microwaved it.

Well it's just your typical iHop, nothing special really. I got the cheesecake full stack of pancakes (for free!) because it's my birthday tomorrow and I had a reward. Pretty good! Very filling though so I had to take it home.

The other two I had to bring with me!

Anyways, Crack'd Kitchen totally lives up to its namesake, for every single egg product here utilizes (wait for it).....REAL cracked eggs!! This may seem like a rudimentary feature. But when you take into consideration how many short-order breakfast places rely on liquid or processed egg, things like this are graciously appreciated by those of us with a palate above that of a seven-year-old. So, I had an opportunity to try this place out both to-go and dine-in. Right upfront, I will say the food is far superior when enjoyed dine-in style. Given the distance from my house, I can aptly say we'll be mostly opting for dine-in (unless the dining area is hella crowded). For to-go, I tried the Country Breakfast whilst the dine-in meal was one of their sammiches; The Basic, to be precise. Overall, both were little short of greatness in their own ways. Though, I made a few casual observations. As mentioned earlier, this stuff is way more enjoyable inside the restaurant. Ergo, I probably should have reversed which meal I ordered when. Despite that minor setback, I think I actually liked the Country Breakfast more than the sammich. Whilst the former carries decently well as a to-go plate, the latter could have benefited from some seasoning on the eggs. I guess that's why they also offer sandwiches with various special sauces. Not gonna lie....I am slightly curious about their honey-sriracha sauce. One day I shall be brave enough to fancy it. One other complaint I have about the platter specifically: you only get half as many hashbrowns with the meal. For....some reason. Meanwhile, I ordered a side of hashbrowns with my sandwich and it came with six. I would assume that'd be the standard across the board so....make it make sense? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Btw....I should probably mention the only reason I'm stuck on this point is because the hashbrowns themselves are amazeballs! They don't even need ketchup, but comes with it if you fancy that sort of thing. A few other housekeeping deetz: their gender ambiguous restrooms are located toward the back entrance. There is also complimentary water for folks dining in. So, yeah. We'll certainly be revisiting this place from time to time. Perhaps I'll even try a couple of over-easy eggs at some point. Till then, Crack'd Kitchen and Coffee in Salem gets 4 cracked eggs with bacon and beautifully seasoned hashbrowns out of 5.

Today was the latter and my first negative review. We tried out Ellie's for the first time. The eggs were supposed to be over medium and were didn't even make it to over easy. They were super runny and the whites weren't fully cooked. They were more like under easy and the peppers and onions were crunchy / not cooked. We did like the sausage and bacon and the French toast was ok enough but definitely skip the hash browns too. Unseasoned and bland. Add in that the woman seating people seemed to hate her life. It came off rude to many how she was directing people to the back waiting area "I can't have you all here" We are for sure "one and done" and after I typed this all out it hit me they're technically in Methuen but darn it, I am still gonna post it. We tried to decline a GC from the manager as we won't be going back but she brought one anyway. We won't use it.

Mostly booth seating that comfortably sit four, with a couple of two seater tables. The menu is at the table and included all breakfast items. Lots of pancakes and omelettes. A few pre-designed egg plates (meat, toast, breakfast potato and so on), oatmeal and a la carte items. Our drink order was taken shortly after arriving (regular drip coffee, decaf, juice, water) and was quickly delivered. Cream is on the table. Waitress came over pretty quickly to take our order. There seem to be a few regulars who chatted with the waitress and ordered their 'usual'. This spot has been here a few years and is showing some wear but is clean and service is friendly. I wasn't impressed with my choice of breakfast sandwich. The toasted english muffin was floppy. Usually when an english muffin is toasted it gets a bit of structure but not this one. Plenty of cheese on there. The egg is not seasoned when cooked which can be a good thing. Salt and pepper on table to season. The coffee is good! This is a nice neighborhood breakfast place. Got the s'mores French toast with a chocolate frappe and both were heavenly!! Tried my sister's blueberry crunch pancake as well, which was both light and flavorful. When we went back for lunch, however, we found the experience less enjoyable. Both of our waitresses were lovely, but the lunch food was definitely less appealing to us than breakfast. Got a cheeseburger as well as some chicken tenders, which while decent, both lacked uniqueness in terms of flavor. Both were good, but not something I'd crave again. We also shared some loaded fries that lacked crunch and flavor - my mom in particular didn't like their softer texture. Tried some of my sister's chorizo burger though, which was well-seasoned and definitely better than my own burger. Both meals were also decently expensive, (don't remember the exact price, but around 60-80 w/o a tip, with tip it was nearly 100) The ambiance and decor was very charming, with plenty of cute signs and photos that felt very homey and casual. Would definitely recommend breakfast, but for lunch, improvements can be made. Would still recommend for wonderful service + environment though!

While I grew up in Salem, NH - I loved to Los Angeles almost 20 years ago and every year at Christmas time look forward to my parents sending us Farmhouse Roasters Coffee at Christmas time. I wouldn't say we're exactly coffee snobs, but let's just say we like what we like, and enjoy nice dark blends. My wife and I have made it a bit of tradition to buy each other different types of artisan coffee around the holidays from many local shops, brewers, etc... and honestly, I think Farmhouse Roasters Farmhouse Blend beats anything out there. I feel like we're kind of "chasing the high" as we search for different coffees to try, and always come back to Farmhouse Roasters which is super consistent every time. The restaurant is great too, but honestly, we haven't been since pre pandemic so I can't give a detailed review... but it's worth it to simply load up on coffee if you're local or buy online... which we need to do more often.
