Ordered to go because I love me some breakfast. This was generous!! I ordered the Big Steak omelette which comes with mushrooms, tomatoes, hashbrown and steak. So generous! Then I also got NY Cheesecake pancakes as my side. These were soft and fluffy and it came with glazed strawberries, whipped cream, butter and syrup. I could not get enough of these pancakes. Food: The food came out fast and it was nice and hot! We did 2 three stacks, 2 orders of hashbrowns, a side of fruit, and two egg whites Drink: chamomile tea which is delicious! The server also brought out lemon and honey which is great. Service: ADRIAN was polite and attentive. He asked all the right questions with follow-ups to ensure we had everything we needed. He really made the experience a 5 star experience. We need to hire more Adrian's! Ambiance: it was around 8am on a Thursday so it wasn't very busy. Love their dark Belgian Chocolate Pancakes. I usually order beef omelette (mushrooms) with chocolate pancakes. But the only drawback for this outfit is customer service. 1. It takes almost 5 to 10 minutes to get seated even when there is no line + it's half empty. 2. This has been three times in a row now, that I have told them that the chicken in my omelette is raw. Even after informing them that I want well done. I usually keep coming to this outlet because this is close to my house. But I guess I will try other outlets now. read more

As you can guess by the always-full tables and parking lot (even at 11 AM), this is a popular IHOP, and deservedly so. There's no point in commenting on the food since it's standardized franchise fare, but no server here has ever messed up my order, everyone seems friendly, and they always have enough staff to keep things humming along. The line moves quickly. I think it's because this branch has good management. One time I expressed disappointment about a promotion on IHOP's website not being honored here, and the manager reached out to apologize and offer a free meal, even though it seemed like the fault of IHOP corporate. Ordered on Sunday morning for pickup. The guy over the phone was super friendly and was able to take my order quickly. Our food was ready in 15 minutes. I got chocolate chip pancakes which were delicious and exactly what I was craving. My boyfriend got the Dulce de leche pancakes which he enjoyed (too sweet for me). Considering that this isn't the most uppity location, you would be surprised at the service you receive. I come here frequently with my family because it's so close to our home, and my kid loves their smiley face pancakes. Each time I've come, the staff is on top of it and always fully accommodating. One time I caught them counting the amount of people in my family through the glass window to prep the menus/utensils in advance! That's just one example of how great the staff is. This is quite a small IHOP branch. I was in the neighborhood and was starving so decided to go here. Parking lot is pretty small and can get full easily, there were also many people sitting outside which gave me the impression that they were waiting to be seated but I realized later that they were simply sitting there, passing time. We decided to do take-out -- party of 3 around 11:15 AM on a Monday, expecting it to be a little on the quiet side. Instead, the iHop was completely full, which is great for them :) The upside: the food came with lots of ketchup. The downside: the food was undercooked despite the long wait and lacked flavor. :( We ordered a pancake combo with hashbrowns on the side and a country burrito with french fries on the side. The fries were really just potato squares that didn't have any salt or seasoning at all. We also ordered a pancake combo which came with 2 strawberry banana pancakes, hashbrowns, and eggs. The pancakes were actually really good, but the hashbrowns were raw and the eggs didn't taste like eggs. There was absolutely no salt in the hashbrowns or the eggs, and there was zero flavor between both of them. Also, we were promised bagels, but they were never included in the meal. Overall, the best part of the meal was the ketchup packets. All being said and done, the staff was really nice. The person who took our order was a little nervous, but with a little more confidence, he can do great! read more

However, at this particular IHOP, be prepared to wait 5 minutes to get even water or any type of service after being seated. I walked out last time... too hungry to wait for the servers and cleaners to stop running mouths and chit-chatting about the latest hot gossip or about customers and actually run the IHOP. Also, it was not very clean... likely because nothing was being cleaned due to that individual who was supposed to be cleaning having the latest "news" to share. Cozy little Ihop located in downtown SJ. I can here around 10am on a Saturday morning and the parking lot was a mess, no worries though. I was able to find a spot right away on the residential street across the street and avoided the circling nightmare. Walked right in and got a table for Two. Other people with larger groups were waiting so I happened to luck out on the timing. It was a complete packed house inside and the table we were sat at was divided in two so that another family was on half, which I didn't really mind. Service was fast and friendly and the food was good. Nothing special but I left full and satisfied. I ordered the pancake breakfast with the Mexican tres leches pancakes, totally recommend. Those who are regular followers of my reviews know I am not a big fan of IHOP (Previously IHOB). However, a good friend of mine recommended this location on 1st Street, San Jose. Let me tell you-it is like going into the past and experiencing the way IHOP was 30 years ago. The first difference is how clean this old style A Frame IHOP is. Every employee works together, very friendly, and the food is OUTSTANDING. The Chefs, Marcelino, Isreal, and the rest really care about the product. The pancakes, eggs, fish, turkey and other dishes are cooked to perfection. If something is wrong, they make it right! My regular server, Julio, is the most professional server I have ever experienced. Many times he is a trainer, so I get the new hire (and of course I ask lots of questions). All employees are clean, neat and uniformed. Unlike other restaurants, it is well staffed. One final note-I like how each server takes care of handling the check instead of having to wait in line at the cashier. The owner of this store has it together-dont change anything! The restaurant always has customers, regardless of time of day. There is no doubt it is the employees, food and team spirit this restaurant conveys. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this IHOP! read more

Favorite late night IHOP location. Well, meanly because it's in the way home after a night of bar hopping in downtown SJ! Service has always been on point during our visits. We are usually seated right away and our orders taken in the first five minutes. Since we usually get the same thing on every visit, we get straight to the point. Great service especially from Angelica. My second time at an IHOP, believe it. I ordered the Berry Berry Brioche French Toast. Two (but I got three) slices of rich brioche bread dipped in lightly sweetened vanilla butter, grilled to perfection. Topped with blueberries and glazed strawberries, then crowned with powered sugar and whipped topping. I liked it. Took the whipped cream off though. IMHO this place is better than the other fast food a couple blocks down. Love the crepes here. Portions are not huge just enough. This place is no doubt busy especially during the weekends but doable. This is def my second choice after Boldknights. Parking is small but you can park across the street. Service is always good. In fact they are regular staffs here. That says a lot about the place. So the staff knows their stuff! Coffee is as good as it gets in a place like this. read more

Tables have gone unclean for some time. The food was as expected, good. But the customer service is very poor. The wait staff is not polite. Well it has been a while since I visited the ol IHop in downtown San Jose. I used to eat here throughout my childhood, while a teenager and as an adult as I grew up. My recollection of IHop was always fond memories of a busy crowded restaurant with the wafting smell of pancakes and bacon in the air. I would frequent IHop for their quality of food and consistency of their ample servings and great tasting buttermilk pancakes. Well things have changed. I do not like to write negative reviews so don't get me wrong the staff was accommodating and the food tasty yet I had to write a review as the world has changed overnight since the pandemic and restaurants are cutting back. I do not want to complain, so I am writing to comment on how the food is now. At first glance the menu was pricey and the portions are minimal. It appears that corporate headquarters put out the we need to cut back memo and hopefully customers will not care. Well I care, I would much rather enjoy an overpriced breakfast somewhere that has generous portions and appreciates the revenue. I do not want to be critical yet even my father said it, and he is a senior and was a bit disappointed. He said it himself, he remembered the buttermilk pancakes being MUCH larger and rich with buttery flavor. I don't have much to say other than I hope that all restaurants take note that consumers are more shrewd and do care about quality and portions for the value of their money. And yes those are my father's pancakes set aside and falling off his plate because he wanted to inspect them and simply pushed them aside in disbelief. read more

There's a charm to this IHOP. I drive past this location 5 times a week, and I have always been keen to visit. This morning was the day. After taking my car to a local mechanic, I wanted to stop in somewhere to grab a coffee & possibly breakfast. And recalled IHOP being a couple of blocks over. It was a perfect choice. The quaint, small-town feel, without all the sleek modern touch most establishments aim to make. The coziness immediately relaxes your senses. The food and service were also excellent. Great establishment, and I can't wait to go back to try some of the holiday items from the menu. read more

Yesterday I was at the Milpitas IHOP for AYCE pancakes for that you have to order one of their combo breakfast and since they were closed today I chose this location instead and they're opened 24/7 which is great unfortunately the interior it's quite small a bit outdated and parking is not as large as the one in Milpitas. Aside from all of that I got here quite early in the morning only a few customers and I was seated right away. Wonderful staff very attentive and polite can't say anymore than that. Going over the menu I order the smokehouse combo eggs, hash browns, two jumbo sized sausages and two buttermilk pancakes. Waitress was so kind as she brought my meals and refill my glass as need be. Like the one in Milpitas they have AYCE pancakes and I must had four plates with different types of syrup. I haven't been to an iHOP in many years. Many. Maybe 20+. My expectations were low to none, but i was lured in by "pancake day" and ordered my free stack plus bacon and an egg, over-easy. Coffee, of course. I was blown away by the super rapid service, despite the crowd. I was seated within 5 minutes, despite a lineup, my order was taken immediately, and it arrived in less than five minutes. Wow! The team of ihop was friendly and competent. So, I've had better meals, but not for the price and not as quickly. The cakes were surprisingly fluffy and nice. The bacon and egg were just as I like them. The egg over easy was not ruptured or over cooked. The coffee was decent. Not coffee house great, but not some nasty or watery thing, either - and they bring a pot of it off the bat. So, I'm adding ihop to my list of quick semi-slumming decent choices when in this part of town, especially if I'm in a hurry. You should too! read more
