I know many people here hate chain restaurants but this IHOP is really nice in my opinion. Each time I have been in the staff have so friendly and prompt. I have never had to wait to be seated or overly long for food or drinks. They have an abundance of booths which I think are pretty much the comfiest thing ever The menu has all the normal diner fare both for breakfast and entree. I typically shoot in for breakfast and love the biscuits and gravy or the chicken fried steak. The prices are fair and the portions obscene. The Chicken fried steak is 11.49 and the size of a dinner plate while being served slathered in gravy. It comes served with two eggs, hash browns, and a side of pancakes. Just ordering it feels adventurous! The best part is it is delicious and I have had many a chicken fried steak in Seattle. Often they come out a wee bit soggy but not here! IHOP is a hit or miss kind of place. IHOP is very popular in Houston (where I'm from) and I've been to several different ones. This particular one definitely holds its own as far as accomplishing what an IHOP is all about; fluffy, sweet pancakes and enough food to to send you staggering away. I have eaten here quite a few times for breakfast and have always been pleased. The restaurant is relatively small and is usually packed on Sundays. Thankfully, the staff is very efficient in getting you seated and are always very friendly. They are a big reason for me to keep coming back. The restaurant has a small parking lot, so it might be difficult finding a spot if you need to park on the street. The food is really what is either going to draw you in or make you dry heave at the thought of it. For me, I love the fluffy sweet mounds of joy that IHOP serves up as pancakes. The food overall is in the same realm as Waffle House and Denny's, so it's basically diner food; greasy, heavy diner food. Is it unhealthy? Yeah.....but so worth it! Indeed, IHOP is my guilty pleasure. This place should be attended if you are looking for a cheap, filling meal. I bumped it up to a four star since I love the pancakes but, like I said, it's diner food, so don't go if you have a weak stomach. read more

Uhm... It's ok. Worth a visit once every other year or so... We went just to revisit old times, bring back memories, do something "different". Food is cheap. Lines are long, always - but they seat you quickly enough (10-15 minutes). Takes way longer after hours though - beware. They seem to always make mistakes on their bill... so always check it. Service is good. Pancakes are nice... fluffy. Lots of syrups to choose from. Crepes are nice... toppings are very sweet. Eggs are cooked in butter... what more can I say? Good. IHOP is a chain restaurant, yes. However, all locations are different. This one, right next to Seattle U, is by far my favorite! I have been here several times with my boyfriend. Being that he works nights, sometimes this is the only place open that we like. Lost Lake is down the road , but good luck hearing each other over dinner. Either way, we have been here in the morning, afternoon, evening, and late night. Every time we have been met with wonderful friendly faces and delicious food. I usually order off of the breakfast menu, and I've yet to be disappointed. Eggs are never dry, bacon is never overcooked, hash browns are even and delicious. Not to mention their pancakes, which goes without saying, THEY'RE AWESOME. Aside from the usual diner fare, this location offers great service. We have had several waiters while dining here, and every one of them has offered a good experience. In the morning, when they are busy, waiters are prompt and polite. I've never had to wait an excessive amount of time for refills or food. In the late night, or during a lull, the waiters will really take time to offer the best service. I went to IHOP tuesday specifically for their anniversary .58 cent short stack of pancakes. So I get my order in, my meal comes in decent time, I had to remind the food runner about my milk, they make good pancakes, and I really like the Boysenberry syrup. The scrambled were from liquid, not great, they have a taste to them, and when I'm getting charged $3.29 for them, I should be able to get fresh. The thing that really steamed my kettle was the $3.29 they charged for the glass of milk. Absolute robbery. The meal ended up costing me almost 8 dollars. Never again. read more

If you know what to order, this can work as a cheap, all-day breakfast place. Don't get the hashbrowns - they suck. The choc pancakes suck. Bottomless coffee is weak brown water. But one of my fav things in the world is sunny-side up eggs with sourdough toast... And that works great here, though I won't make any claims about whether they use unhealthy fats here. Pancakes are acceptible, the syrup isn't real maple, and don't get fooled into ordering the eat-all-you can pancake specials they do from time to time, as you really can't eat that much - you're better off ordering what you really want... If that's plain pancakes the go for it. Service is great and friendly and unpretentious, big pluses in my book. You'll be eating with the not-well-to-do crowd, another plus in my book. We decided to get a late night snack around 1am the other night. Definitely didn't disappoint! I ordered the stuffed French toast with strawberries and my daughter ordered the steak omelet. After we placed the order online, it said only 15 minutes which is unheard of! We headed straight there and the food was waiting for us. We only live ten minutes away. The staff was friendly and the man who gave me my food was very nice and told a funny joke. When we got home, I split up the food so we both could try each other's food. The omelette was huge!!! Enough for three people and deliciously flavored, the hash browns were cooked to perfection. And oh, the French toast! Yes, the French toast was to die for. Deliciously filled with cream and strawberries with sauce to add on the top. My daughter said it might have been the best breakfast she's ever had and I have to agree. We are foodies and very picky. Everyone seems to hate this place but me. It's busy and it's small, the bathroom makes me feel like I'm on an airplane but they're nice and the food is consistent. Maybe I'm just too easy to please, And maybe I've just been here so many times over the last 15 years that there's an unfair bias from all of the positive memories that IHOP didn't really have a part in; but when you give me a half gallon thermos of coffee to start things out I'm pretty patient. Didn't really like the location - and like most fast food, my fond memories of eating the crepes and the patty melt in college have faded. The service here is good and the staff is very prompt. The manager seems very militant. My low review is just more a reflection of my dislike for fast food rather than knocking this specific restaurant. I also had to sit at a small table and try to eat multiple plates of food on a table too small for it while the booths were all taken up by coffee campers. I like to go to this IHOP after a late night out or at the end of a late night. The place is always packed but the staff tries their best to get you seated and your order right away. My test to see if a greasy spoon restaurant like this is good is if my coffee cup is ever empty. If it's empty then the wait staff need to step it up a notch. My cup has never been empty here. The only reason why I'm giving this a 1 star is because they are open 24-7. Never have I seen a waitress be so rude every single time my fiance have come in. The very last time I came in a waitress named Mari was extremely rude to a customer when they tried to move seats so they could have enough room for their things. They nicely asked if they could move and she caused a scene by giving them ATTITUDE about how they could see that she was doing something and that they needed to stay out of her way. He again said he was only trying to get another seat and apologized but she kept going off about how they needed to step back and sit down. The entire restaurant including the chef's saw all of this. I was ordering at the time and calmly said she didn't need to be so mean and that she is always rude to someone whenever we come in. She snapped back and told me that I was wrong and stared me down. I told her that she was going to be rude to the wrong person. She said I was threatening her and that I needed to leave. I said I was waiting for my food and that I knew better than to threaten anyone in such a sad world. One of the waiters and the customer that was yelled at said she needed to calm down and that she was being rude. My fiance and I cancelled our order and told them we weren't coming back to a place that treated their customers so terrible. The man came out to thank me for sticking up for him and God Bless. Not only does this IHOP deliver in convenience and delicious and dependable food, the service and staff here are amazing. They are always very kind and patient, especially considering the kind of folks they serve on a daily basis (a mix of drunk/hungover college kids and the colorful population of Capitol Hill.) I know there's good hard working people at IHOP. But here was my latest experience. I put an online order at 1222pm. An email said it would be ready for pickup at 1233pm. I got there about 1235pm hoping to bearing home some lunch for my wife during lunch hour. I tell the cashier my name and she's says it will be ready soon. After twenty minutes and seeing about three people who put in their take out orders after I got there get their orders, I check in again and she realizes something is up. It looks to me like the online order wasn't given to the cooks, I'm not sure. I get my food finally at 125pm. Just an insincere "sorry bout that" and that's it. My lunch hour is up, I'm late for work, and I can't eat my lunch or bring it home to my wife. I call as I'm driving just to understand what happened. The manager was defensive and unempathetic and no apologies. All that would have made me happy is a sincere apology and maybe an explanation of what happened, maybe they can make sure it doesn't happen to someone else. The level of customer service sets the bar high for other local haunts. Very clean, very fast, very friendly.
