The food quality is HORRIBLE. We ordered the Spicy Poblano, as you can see from the picture, the avocados had many black spots. The manager was nice enough to replace the avocados only to receive hard and unripe avocados. Additionally, we ordered the Vanilla Ice Coffee and it was dosed with syrup. Manager also replaced that with Hot chocolate. The chicken tasted like it just came off the Sysco truck and went on the grill. The hashbrowns were burnt and had a terrible aftertaste.

This has probably become my favorite IHOP ever, and it's not just because it's the only halal IHOP in New Jersey (though that's mostly the reason). The quality of the food is very good, the restaurant is clean & well-maintained, and the staff are friendly, prompt, & energetic (which can be hard at 5am). We got there at 4:45am and we were seated quickly. This IHOP has a distinct halal menu filled will sweet & savory options (all cooked on "halal-only" grills); if that's not enough then you can request if items from the normal menu can be made halal. We ordered a few items, like the Crepe Combo (Strawberries & Cream) and Chicken & Waffles. The crepes were sweetened right, and the chicken was flavorful. We could also try some halal turkey bacon, a rare treat. The coffee and hot chocolate rounded out the meal well. Despite how crowded it was, the food arrived without much waiting time. Our waiter made sure we were taken care of, and he did it with a smile. I also admired how nice this IHOP branch looked, both inside and out. By far the best-looking one I've been to. Overall, I can't wait to come back, and I only wish more IHOP branches could become halal.

This is my favorite iHop in the area. The food is great, the service has always been wonderful thanks to the lovely staff. Special thanks to Linda whom has always made my late night, early morning breakfast dining experience wonderful. I suggest the classic Belgian waffle, with melted butter, and strawberry syrup... You will not be disappointed.

Halal IHOP | A Breakfast Dream, the Halal Way Finally tried the halal IHOP experience and wow--it really lives up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was unmatched. I came with my family for the first time, and both the manager and the owner personally came over to greet us. We connected instantly--super kind and welcoming people--and they made sure we were seated at one of the best tables in the house. Our server was just as attentive, checking in with us often and making sure we had everything we needed. Even with the place buzzing, the staff made it feel personal, and I noticed that same level of care being shown to every table around us. Now, the food: Oreo Milkshake & Cupcake Milkshake - thick, creamy, and just the right kind of sweet. Dubai Pancakes - rich, beautifully stacked, and full of flavor. Definitely a showstopper. Strawberry & Banana Pancakes - fresh and classic. Veggie Omelette - a great savory balance to the sweet options. Steak - cooked just right and definitely hit the spot. The atmosphere had this warm, family-friendly energy that made the whole visit feel like more than just a breakfast outing--it felt like a true experience. If you're craving a halal twist on American brunch favorites, this spot checks all the boxes. Already planning the next trip back.

This is a great place if you want something basic for breakfast. I had the scramble egg bowl which is basically somewhat like a breakfast sampler just in a bowl all mixed together. It was a lot that I took some to go. Can't ever go wrong with coffee although nothing to magical about it. Pancakes were good but I've had better. Again it's iHop I'm not expecting anything to spectacular . Service was fast, JT was friendly and ensured our meals came out on time. Ambiance was good for a Wednesday morning. Very slow but quick service

This IHOP has a halal menu! All food is cooked in a separate grill. At this time they offer halal grilled chicken and Turkey bacon meals plus majority of the pancakes, crepes and French toast. It's nice because the food comes out with a halal toothpick sign so it doesn't get mixed up! I'm not too devout where I would request the separate grill, so I am hopeful in the future with enough demand there will be halal steak and other options. My southwest chicken burrito was amazing I've never been able to really have one in a chain restaurant before. Service was great as well. The women's bathroom was but no biggie. It's spacious with a lot of seating as well.

The interior was a quirky mix of hand-painted nautical scenes and a shrine to -- who I presumed was -- a wildly successful collegiate wrestler, Mean Gene Mills. "Do you like spicy food?" a voice piped up from behind me. "Yeah, sure." I replied, turning to see a sprightly older man sporting wide glasses and a leather jacket. I'd noticed him earlier rolling up on a three-wheeled motorcycle as I approached the place, parking it neatly around the side. "I'd go for the Chili Dog and the Big Kahuna," he suggested with a grin, adding, "The chili's not spicy but it's damn good." As it happened, I'd already ordered a pair of chili dogs but I nodded appreciatively. "I'll have to try the Kahuna next time." I said. The man introduced himself as the owner and brother of the locally lionized Gene the Pinning Machine. I could see he was proud of his brother's legacy and this hotdog spot he seemed to view as a hobby. "I'm in real estate mostly," he explained. "The hotdog stand is just for fun. I always wanted a spot by the river, saw this place and snapped it up." And he spoke of it like a hobbyist. He told me about his sausage guy up in upstate New York who hand-makes the dogs, sausages, and casings fuel his culinary creations. While some joints boil or fry their hot dogs, he opts for a series of convection ovens--air-frying them. A quirky and distinctive twist I haven't seen before. It's that hobbyist's eye, as I am saying. We chatted a bit longer before he ducked behind the counter to check in with the kids working the line. He greeted each one with a warm chummy hug and their faces lit up at the sight of him. It was clear from the easy banter that he's a boss who's genuinely well-liked. Now, about that dog: An air-fried hot dog feels a little out there--like baking one, you'd figure it'd dry out. But honestly? It wasn't half bad. Crisp on the outside, yet still decently average on the hot-dog-o-meter. Definitely a step up from the boiled variety. The chili, though? Hands down, phenomenal. That, along with the sausage, comes from his guy up in Syracuse -- the same one crafting those hot dogs. Is it worth hauling a box truck to upstate New York for? Hard to say. But it's absolutely worth my five-minute drive to Woodlandd Park to eat. The prices feel right in line with what you'd expect from a boutique roadside spot like this. The interior's compact--think a pair of small tables and a counter. Out back back there's a small deck with a few tables and chairs overlooking the river. Could be a sweet spot when the weather's kind. The menu is substantial with the addition of an ice cream bar, all Gelotti which is a North Jersey staple. The hotdog is a pretty humble food-stuff, if you like them then you won't be disappointed here. It's worth a stop for lunch if you're ever in town.

I went back a few days after my first visit because they were THAT good. When I walked in, I was greeted by the owner, Wayne Mills. We had a lovely conversation about how he opened Lover Dogs and how Lover Dogs has been his dream retirement. On the walls, there are photos of his brother Gene who was a renowned wrestler in the 80s. Wayne gave me a tour of the outdoor patio and the downstairs area that he plans to expand for breakfast/brunch. The patio area overlooks a nice view of the Passaic River. After the little tour, I ate my all the way hot dog. Lover Dogs hot dogs are air-fried which I thought was very unique. The chilli sauce is out of this world. Super flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Wayne explained that he spent a long time perfecting the recipe and worked with several people to develop. The hot dogs are Hoffman brand which he discovered when he visited his brother many years ago at Syracuse University. It was really nice to see Wayne pay homage to the previous building owners with a framed collage on the wall. I am a local history nerd so I really loved seeing all of the old photos dating back to the early 1900s. Please visit this awesome local business!

There is outdoor and indoor dining but since it was blazing hot out I opted to stay inside in the cool AC. Came for brunch on a Sunday so had to try their sangria. It was really refreshing and perfect for a warm day. For entrees, we ordered the short rib hash, chicken and waffles, and the steak and eggs. I had a little of each, but my favorite was the short rib hash. Great flavor and the sauce was fantastic. The steak had a perfect cook on it, and the fried chicken was crispy and flavorful as well. The server was friendly and extremely attentive. He recommended a good dessert which we ended up splitting. When in doubt go with the chocolate brownie Esther vanilla ice cream !

We didn't have a reservation, but they were still able to seat us in the dining room as long as we could wrap up before 1:30, which we appreciated. I wasn't super hungry so we shared the crispy cauliflower and lamb ribs from the appetizer menu. The crispy cauliflower was excellent -- hot, actually crispy, and not drowning in sauce which I really appreciated. The lamb ribs came over labneh (a yogurt base) and the first plate arrived with the lamb cold. I asked our waitress if that was intentional and she said only the labneh should be cold. They immediately replaced it with a fresh order and handled it really well, which I appreciated. Great service recovery and overall a really enjoyable brunch spot with a lively atmosphere.
