My fiancé and I love this place due to it's ambiance and location, as it's close to where we live. The interior of the restaurant is just comfortable, got a real warm, fireplace vibe. The food is good and they offer seasonal specials which are decent and affordable. We usually dine here 3-4 times monthly so think we are pretty good judges of Maggie's. My only callout here is the inconsistency in service. Sometimes amazing and other times unpredicable. Our average bill is around $50ish plus tip, for 2 people. The management needs to step up their game when training the servers, set them up for success. Our most recent visit we arrived right at opening (12 PM) for lunch. We were the only 2 seated at that time. Our table was in the back and right next to us were 3 employees who were rolling silverware in napkins. We heard their entire conversation about their weekend long before we were even greeted. They need some direction on professionalism and that comes directly from their leadership. We had a good meal overall! Server was very nice once he spotted us tucked away in a corner - we ordered cheese curds app, Fresh Basil pizza and Maggie's favorite (vodka pasta). We ended up taking the pasta to go as our server totally forgot about the pasta dish - he felt bad and offered dessert (lava cake) while we waited for it to-go. I came here with my service dog, and immediately when we entered we were not even greeted, we were immediately told no pets allowed. I stated my dog is a service dog.The manager said only certified service dogs are allowed. See the issue is, there is no certifcation for service dogs in the united states. I told the manager to look up the ADA (Americans with disabilities act). He said " that doesn't matter the owner will fire me if he finds i let a pet in" I told the manager my service dog and I have the right to be here. He said He needed to see paperwork, So again I explained there is no paperwork in the US, and the 2 questions your legally allowed to ask are 1. is it a service dog and 2. what tasks is the dog trained to perform. Then the manager asked what service does the dog provide. I said your legally allowed to ask the 2 questions I just told you, so are you asking what task my dog provides? He said yes, and I told him my service dog performs deep pressure therapy and crowd control. Then he proceeded to tell me I needed paperwork and "other peoples service dogs have paperwork". I told him not letting me and my service dog inside was discrimination and against federal law. If your going to have your staff enforce a rule, atleast educate them properly and have them be professional and polite. It is ridiculous to enforce something you aren't educated on and do not understand. Discriminating against me and my service dog is disgusting. I highly recommend not going here. This is one heck of a great local pub food restaurant. The atmosphere is great for families, parties, and the like. The food was delicious! We like our burgers rare and told them mooing please, and that exactly how we got them! The meat was tasty and juicy. The cheddar cheese was perfectly melted and tasted great. We did takeout from here a few days ago and were definitely impressed! I loved the pastrami sandwich. It was crispy and juicy and really just perfect. My fries were a bit cold when we got home, but could be warmed up of course. My husband enjoyed the grilled Kebob and a side of chicken soup. All very tasty as well! Walked in on a Saturday night and the place is packed. Hostess said it's about an hour and a half wait. We were in the area to see a friends band so we couldn't wait that long Fortunately a couple was getting up at the bar and we grabbed seats. The bartenders were super friendly and very attentive. I got the ribs on a recommendation of my friend. They were nice and tender and had good flavor. Not smoked like a BBQ joint but a solid choice for sure. I have a love-hate relationship with Maggie's. I don't particularly have a complaint on their food quality, however everything is just mediocre. Nothing is very memorable. My daughter however really loves their fried calamari and French onion soup. I also don't understand all the good reviews for their burgers because honestly, they're really not great and I can make a better burger at home. I like Maggie's because it's convenient and menu options are ample. But there is nothing on their menu that I can honestly say is great. I'm also not into their dark dingy and antiquated ambience. I always pass by but have never actually went inside until yesterday. I heard so many wonderful things about this place so I decided to try it out myself. The menu is very extensive with something for everyone it was very hard to choose but I settled on the osso buco with mashed potatoes it was absolutely delicious! The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and the mashed potatoes were perfect. My husband and son shared a chicken Parmesan pizza which we had to send back because it was not cooked all the way but when it came back the cross was nice and crunchy and well done.
