I saw the advertisement for the Halloween themed hot chocolate and was excited to try it but when I ordered the waitress came back and said "we ran out of hot chocolate." I'm not sure how a breakfast place that only serves water, coffee or hot chocolate runs out of 1 of its 3 main drinks, especially considering how hard they are advertising the Halloween themed specialities on billboards and their menus. Stayed at a near by hotel and decided to stop on for breakfast. Service was good, and waitress was polite and courteous. I ordered a cup of coffee but when it came I noticed the mug was dirty with lipstick on it. That kind of grossed me out. I did eat the omelette which was pretty good. We've been here 3 times. The first time was after they opened. Food came quick, it was hot and good. Second time took almost 45 min to get food and another 15 to pay. Food was okay. We thought maybe we caught them on a bad day. Third time we waited over an hour for food and so did other guests. There are probably 40 tables in there and there were only about 8 filled. Half of the people were there before we came. Manager said they were slammed all of a sudden. No 8 tables in 90 min is not slammed. Food was coming out wrong, cold, nasty. Half my meal was inedible. Waitresses were trying very hard, restaurant was pretty clean. Manager is not good at her job. Will not be back. We ordered food from here. Pancakes, tradiotional egg combo and my girlfriend got turkey dinner. This food shouldnt even be given out for free, its STRAIGHT OVERPRICED PRISON FOOD. Unfortunately i have to give a star but wouldn't give any if i could. Bad customer experience for first time visiting the restaurant. Went with my family got taken back to the table and waited 10 minutes for a waitress to come and take our order or at least offer something to drink like the usually do. while waiting still, 2 couples (Total of 4 ) got taken back and the waitress took their order and they got their drinks and all. Waited a little bit more to see if they would at least acknowledge that we were there but nothing so I got up with my family and left. My point here is if you are going to bring people back to their table as they come into your restaurant they should be served in the order they come in, not in the order the waitress says so. Terrible service. The food took over an hour to be served then when it came out, almost the entire order was either wrong or food was burnt. AMAZING SERVICE. Try to go on a morning when Chrissy is serving. She answered every question, as soon as the pot of coffee was empty she delivered a fresh one before I took the last sip, everything was neat, clean and organized. We have eaten there several times but it's not on our favorites list. Their service is extremely slow even when a friend of mine and I went there one evening when very few were around and we had to wait like forever for every little thing. We would up eating there often in a four day period because other places were too crowded to get in. Each time we were seated the tables were soaking wet and we had to get them to come wipe the water off. They also kept forgetting to give us silverware. The waitress we had with a "photographic memory" kept forgetting what we ordered and took forever to bring it. read more

Really don't understand the negative reviews here, it's an ihop, and one doesn't go to ihop expecting five star dining. You do, however, get good breakfast food and excellent pancakes. The cooking is just fine, and being newer this location is one of the cleanest and most well kept ihop's that I've ever been to. We've been there twice and will go back! read more

I want to love this location so much as its basically in my backyard, but after today's experience, I just can't. The only reason they get two stars is because the servers are fantastic. The kitchen, however sucks. My husband and I ordered the Split Decision which consists of eggs (which we got scrambled), bacon, sausage, French toast and pancakes. The French toast and the pancakes were good, but the rest was not very good at all. The sausage was practically swimming in grease, the bacon was so stale tasting and hard that I nearly chopped a tooth and the eggs were overcooked. Oh, and did I mention that at 9 am it took over a half hour to get our food? We've dined at several Ihops (mostly in VA) and this one doesn't even compare to the worst one down there. We specifically drove 45 mins to get to IHOP; the closest one to our home. When we arrived there was only one table, a birthday party of about 20 people who had already eaten. There was no hostess at the front desk so we had to wait, once she came to the lobby and seated us waitress came over and took our drink order and told us that another waitress would be taking over for her shortly we waited 15 minutes for our drinks which were milkshakes. 5 other tables of customers arrived shortly after. Our order was taken then the other tables. Their order they all arrived. 33 mins after our order was taken the table behind us received the food, the table across the room received their food, a third table received their food, then the table right next to us who had also arrived after us received their food. We still had no food. The table next to us who had ordered after us started complaining, their food was cold, it was hard, & it was dripping with grease. They actually held up hash browns that were made into a square patty, we could see the grease running off. The waitress said she would have their food remade. All in all, 3 of their 4 meals had to be remade; we still had no food. Their waitress looked over at us and told us our food was sitting in the kitchen and she didn't know why they had not been brought out to us. As we were gathering our things to leave, a waitress came out of the kitchen with our, food walked right past our table and back into the kitchen with our food! I told the hostess I was done, I was leaving, we had already been there for over an hour with no food too show for it. I would pay for my milkshakes that we have drank, but I was leaving. She kindly did not charge me for my milkshakes but never apologized for their bad service or never getting our food. read more

Don't waste your time. My husband, daughter, and I were there today and it was practically empty. I was thrilled because that should mean our service would be great but I was wrong, so wrong. It took our server nine minutes to greet us and she told us she was so busy. Doing what is what I would like to know since she definitely was not on the floor. We ordered everything immediately, two meals, an extra plate, that's it, no special requests. The table behind us, which has a different server, leaves shortly after we order. This table is cleaned and re-seated within a few minutes with two adults. They have their check before we have our meals. I am constantly looking for our server or a manager. Why? It's been 25 minutes since we ordered and there is no food in sight. Our server finally comes out and tells us our meals will be out shortly and half apologizes for how busy they were. Um, what?? She walks off before I have a chance to ask for a manager. I'm about to leave and walk to Cracker Barrel when my husband says "holy crap I think it's coming." It's now been 36 minutes since we ordered. Four pancakes, four strips of bacon, a slice of ham, and two sausage links are sitting in front of us. I'm so hungry I don't care how the food tastes but I would like a refill on my water. It never comes. My two year old is finally sitting and not cranky. We eat. The bacon leaves a lot to be desired but everything else was good. Not that anyone asked us or ever refilled my water. Our check arrives and I take a photograph of it. Why? She didn't put our order in for 25 minutes after taking it. No wonder everyone was being seated and eating before us. She had one other table, a single dude. That's it. Recognize that 25 minute thing? She put our order in *after* telling us it would be out shortly. What the heck was she doing??? I pay our $21 bill and leave her less than ten percent. My husband, who knows 20% is the minimum you get with me because I served for ten years, was stunned. I would've loved to tell a manager my experience but not one existed in this place and if our server couldn't refill a water how can she find a person? Don't waste your time, don't waste your money. I'm very grateful Cracker Barrel is right there, they had my business before iHop arrived and, after today, they're going to keep it. read more

I dined here today with two friends. As we entered, a hostess held the door open. Good first impression. The lobby was over crowded with staff. Upon requesting a table for 3, the hostess who initially greeted us said nothing. Then, another hostess asked us to follow her. We were seated at a table with two rolls of silverware. Our server, Sammy came by after a few minutes and rather than make any pleasantries, simply said, "Hi, my name is Sam. Can I grab you guys something to drink? Coffee, soda, etc.?" She returned with our coffee and water after no less than five minutes. I've worked for corporate restaurants where the servers are trained to have drinks on the table in three or less. Five is pushing it. Our food order, however, came out relatively fast. We were never given a third set of silverware so one of us grabbed a roll off a nearby table. The breakfast items were up to par but the turkey dinner left much to be desired. As we ate, a family of four was seated nearby with two children under two years old. Ten minutes went by before they were even greeted. Meanwhile, our check had arrived and been paid before we even finished our meal. I felt terrible eating my meal as I sat waiting for the other table to be acknowledged. There's no excuse, especially considering the small children present and the abundance of staff congregating in the lobby. I would not have been surprised had they decided to take their business elsewhere, but finally, someone stopped by to see if they had been helped. I hope IHOP at least comped part of their check for the initial lack of service. Also noted was our final interaction with our server, who returned the check book and credit card without saying a word. Not a "thanks" or "have a nice day," or even "please come in again." Another staff member cleared our plates as we finished. It is understood that this is a casual dining environment, but there are key points no matter where you are that should never be missed. Bottom line: If you go, do not expect prompt or standout service, and if you have small children, you may want to bring your own snacks and drinks to satisfy them until you are finally acknowledged. read more

I've been three times. Although I love IHOP, this location is horrible. The service is always slow here, but what prompted this review was having to walk out. We sat at our table for 30 minutes before finally leaving because a waitress had not even taken our drink order yet. It's not like it was busy either, half the tables were empty and there were at least three waitresses walking around. This restaurant is always uncomfortably warm too, in both summer and winter. I was excited to see that an Ihop was coming to York, because the closest one was almost an hour away in Lancaster. They opened it without making a big production out of it, and I feel like nobody really knew they were open until the last few days. It was extremely busy in the establishment, and a complete lack of organizational skills meant that the entire restaurant was nothing but mass chaos. When we were being led to our table, the staff kept cutting us off, even getting in front of my 77 year old grandmother who has limited mobility. They sat us in the very back of the restaurant, which was a very far walk for my grandmother. I understand that it was busy, but it's not acceptable to seat an elderly person who can barely walk in the very back. I want to add that the tables are so close together that I doubt anyone with a wheelchair or walker could get through. If you're handicapped or disabled with limited mobility, you might not want to come here at all. Our waitress, Jennifer, rushed us the entire time we were there. She was nice enough and smiled the whole time, but you could definitely tell she was just trying to get us out of there as soon as possible. She gave us the check 2 minutes after we got our food, and kept coming around while we were eating in an attempt to get the check. She wasn't very good at keeping our coffee pot full. This was very annoying because the pot is only big enough for 3 cups of coffee. There were 3 of us there so it was drained quickly. She also took approximately 15 minutes to bring me a glass of water. When I asked for water, she got snippy with me for not asking for it before. The only reason I didn't order it to begin with was because she left the table before I could. The waitress got the manager over to our table because my grandma thought one of her items was missing. The manager was extremely rude to my grandmother when she misread the menu, and was very short with us. She could have explained it in a nicer way, but it seemed like she didn't really care. When we were sat at our table, there was no original syrup on the table, and it wasn't brought to us until we asked for it specifically. How do you run a restaurant focused on pancakes without making sure all tables have syrup? Speaking of pancakes, mine were extremely cold. The rest of my food was good. I would have told the manager about my cold pancakes but I got the impression that she wouldn't have helped so I didn't bother. When our food came to the table, 2 waitresses came to bring it out and brought out something we didn't order. When we said we didn't order it, they gave us rude looks and sighed in annoyance. They also mixed up the plates because they didn't ask who ordered what. When a waitress came to take our plates, she made us hand them over the table to her and wouldn't take them herself. I'm going to try coming here again when the hype dies down, but they definitely have a lot to improve on. The entire staff was extremely unprofessional. read more

This place is as average as you can get. Nothing special but not bad. First impressions when walking in was about 4 to 5 employees hanging around the waiting area not looking too busy at all. The one employee spent about 10 mins to clean 4 small windows which was kinda ridiculous. Food is pretty straight down the middle average. But for 8.99 I was quite full at least. Service was average as well. Had to ask for silverware so that's a minus. This place is still new so hopefully they work out some of these problems but with the menu they have it may just remain an average breakfast restaurant. read more

My son and I stopped for breakfast on Saturday morning. It was very busy, we were greeted right away and seated in just a few minutes. Our server was very pleasant and professional as was the trainee that accompanied her. Our breakfasts were delicious, we were surprised we were served our meals so quickly since the restaurant was so busy. Just went there with a party of 8. We all needed separate checks. Staff very courteous and helpful. I had the strawberry and cream cheese pancakes, fantastic!! I didn't care for the strawberry orange juice and citrus soda(gave me heartburn) so I asked for a Dr Pepper as a refill and did not get charged for drink change. Food was prompt. So firsts things first, our waitress gave us horrible service. It took 10 minutes just to get our drinks. Then to top it off she takes our order down. 20 minutes later they bring out 2 completely different meals for me and my friend. So they offered to take care of the problem ASAP. The manager did. She brings out the RIGHT order, so we start eating then my friends stops and points out multiple pieces of hair in her hash browns and eggs. So i checked mine and found the same. I called over management and told her we would offer to pay for the drinks but we're NOT paying for the meals. She said she would take care of everything and that was it. No apologies. No offer for the next meal or anything. So we got up and left. I 10/10 wouldn't recommend ladies and gentlemen. read more

Our waitress was excellent Samm and the Mgr on duty Esteban was also great. He checked on us and they were both very genuine. The food was good the eggs perfect and bacon crispy. Toast was kinda cold and the red velvet crepe was a bit to sweet for me. Samm made sure our coffee was full and despite how super busy they were she had a smile the whole time. Biggest problem is the tables are so close together I'm glad we had a booth. Although the booth tables aren't that big it is only built for 2. I saw frustration on some servers faces but they all smiled and pushed on. The people at the front desk were definitely not happy no greeting or have a nice day when leaving. I am fully aware this is IHOP and should expect mediocre overall. But sometimes they aren't even sufficient. We've gone probably five times since they have opened. None of them flawless. The food is always what you pay for, but service is awful. We go because the kids love it and it's four minutes from my home... The last time Was probably the last... We waited 10 Minutes to be greeted, food came out relatively fast. We ordered an appetizer, which arrived ten minutes after our entrees. When I asked the girl who brought our food, her response was "well, I obviously couldn't carry it all... And obviously am not your server". Thanks Sammy. Great customer service. But if you're running food, shouldn't you know what's on the ticket? Not even upset that the app was forgot, but the snotty remarks are unnecessary! When it did come, no apology, or any acknowledgement of the mistake. Worst customer service! It's non-existent at this place. Called to place a to-go order, the server taking my order answered the phone with a lazy "hello", then when I was done with my order, I said "thank you" and she just hung up on me! My husband went to pick up the order and wasn't greeted when he came in. He had to walk up and "bother" a busy associate messing around with the register and had to wait at least a minute until the guy finally looked up and said "I can take your payment".. without even asking what he needed help with! To top it off, there were at least 4 employees standing around at the hostess/register station, and none of them knew which to go order was which. Get new management and new employees! read more

I went for a salad. Used the app and placed an order for pick up in 30 minutes. I arrived before my pick up time so I don't count that wait time. I waited 10 minutes after my pick up time for a salad. At one point the hostess? came out to say it would be just a few minutes and she happened to be holding an empty container that looked just like what my salad ended up coming out in. I assume she made it. Service was slow as I watched a few others come in and wait and wait to be seated. Not that the place was crowded, just that there was no host in the entry area but there was a wait to be seated sign. There's a sign on the door saying they're hiring so maybe this is a case if they were short staffed that night. Anyways, I ordered the salad because it has avocado on it and was very disappointed to get back to the hotel to find out there was no avocado. You might be asking why did I go to IHOP for a salad - it's within walking distance to my hotel. Next time I'll walk the opposite way and head to Cracker Barrel. read more

Follow up to my previous review. Everything was as good as it was the first time. Food is better than expected. Service remains at an excellent level of professionalism and enthusiasm. I'll keep stopping in to see if they can stay consistent at this level. This WILL be my final try with this location. Our waitress seemed to be on some kind of drug, she never checked on us once my daughters onion rings were cold we asked another waitress to get ours. When asked for hot onion rings she stormed off cursing we could actually hear her. My chicken Cobb salad was completely created with whatever was left in the back. A ton of mushrooms in which don't even come on it. Chunks of big lemons. No blue cheese crumbles because "they never have had them" the description says it comes with bacon, blue cheese crumbles AND tossed in ranch. I had to get vinaigrette. I'm sooooooooooo tired of this BS IHOP I'm SO livid that this is the FORTH horrible experience and always pay for this crap!!!!! Revamp the whole crew, menu manager just keep the coffee if you want this place to stay standing. Sad to see IHOP this way!!!!!! read more

Typical good iHop food, but food takes forever to come out. Servers are competent and courteous and hustle so I keep returning hoping it will get better. They seem to have a lot of turn over. My last visit was at dinner time. The young lady serving us said she had been on since breakfast, over 12 hours, which I didn't was allowed for minors.
