    New work-friendly space

Had to run errands close by and needed a quick place to work. Would normally not think of IKEA as a place to work but I remembered how good their coffee was and how their desserts never disappoint. I was excited to see that there was a new area that felt like it was "laptop friendly". I grabbed my free cup of coffee (with IKEA family card) and my slice of chocolate cake. Wifi was excellent, ambience wasn't too loud , seats were comfy and plenty of elbow room. I'm definitely adding the IKEA bistro to my list of go-to spots to work and eat!

This review is for the bistro. Always so full of people and long lines. We go anyway. We always get the meatballs or fish. This time though on their menu is a chicken chile verde. I got it and actually this is the second time I did. We visited another time and got it that time but they run out of rice. This time ordered again and all components are there. The yummy and perfectly cooked chicken, rice, black beans, and yummy fried plantains. This is my favorite special on the menu and for sure will get every time we visit the bistro. It's a special so I'm sure will not be there all the time. Always an adventure at Ikea. Thanks.

I haven't had Ikea Swedish Meatball in a decade!

As IKEA Family members, you get 50% off adult entrées at your local IKEA store's Swedish Restaurant every Tuesday until 10/31/24. I think each month they change the day of the week for 50% off entrées. During the summer months, it was on Fridays. You can check their websites for monthly specials. It's not gourmet food but it's a great option if you're on a tight budget and want a fun night out with friends and family. It's a counter service restaurant and you don't need to leave a tip. The Swedish meatball is a must try. If you don't want the mashed potatoes and peas, you can get meatballs by itself. My son likes the chicken stripes and fries. The pulled pork is not bad too. The best part of eating at the Cafe is you can walk off some of the calories by browsing at the Warehouse after.

This review is for the downstairs Bistro, not the upstairs Restaurant. I usually stop in for the $1.75 frozen yogurt either in a cup or cone, vanilla, strawberry, or swirl. They also have hot dogs, pretzels, cinnamon rolls, and pizza! From the grocery section, I've also picked up frozen Swedish Pancakes packages to enjoy at home. If you like their Swedish Meatballs, Salmon, etc. you can totally pick those up too, even the lingonberry jam! Also the dessert Daim cake! Kiosks for self-service ordering, not much of a wait when I go. Sometimes they are closed midday and kiosks are off or menu items grayed out. Some seating near the exit by the registers.

50% off warm dishes on Fridays so we had dinner at IKEA. The line was quite long Friday evening. I ordered their plant balls plate and asked to substitute the peas with fries. They do charge you additional for the substitution which we were not aware of until paying. Everything was warm and delicious. I love their regular cut fries and the variety of condiments available. So glad they have a great amount of vegetarian options available! Affordable prices and decent portions! Will be dining here again next time I'm shopping for furniture!

3 stars for the value. This is like a high school cafeteria style fast food option. The prices are great. Food is mass produced. Food is decent considering the price, but not a must eat. There are other options with great pricing also. 4 stars Swedish meatballs. Rating is mostly due to the price. It's like a good microwaved meal. Tastes good considering the price. 2 stars Mac & Cheese. Mac & Cheese was bad. The flavor was strangely bad. Peas were dried out. Yuck.

I've done multiple reviews on various Ikea locations. Their french fries are bar none my go to place for them. They had pork shanks before the deadly plague of covid hit and have not had it in their menu since. That pork shank was pretty good and the only place you could get it at a restaurant or otherwise. Getting back to their fries, I try to time it when they make it fresh off the deep fryer and if the chicken tenders are coming out the same time, wow double whammy good. I don't have a clue as to why their fries are so much better but I will continue to visit them when I'm near a Ikea for theirs fries.

I came here to do a little shopping, I haven't been to the bistro since it opened so I figured I would try it out... I was starving so it was the obvious choice... I tried the meatballs, mashed potatoes and veggie medley, toast and the veggie patties. The customer service was good, the gal behind the food counter was super friendly! I was able to find a table by the window, although those seats were a bit messy, I missed the wipe down crew. The meatballs were just so so... covered in the cranberry sauce it was better.. the mashed potatoes were surprisingly decent.. but the veggie medley left a lot to be desired... it tasted like a bunch of veggies boiled in water and then put on the plate. Super bland couldn't really taste even the veggie taste... no seasoning at all wow super not good. The toast and veggie patties were the best part! The ride home after eating this however was not pleasant, I had the worst cramps... I don't think I'll be partaking in the bistro for another 10-15 years or if I did I would just get the veggie patty and toast lol!

I've eaten at the Ikea Bistro a number of times. It's cafeteria style food, but it's actually pretty good. The Swedish meatballs, fries, and veggies are all pretty tasty. My favorite is the almond cake which really impressed the first time I tried it. There's also a variety of dishes like salmon, salad, and vegetarian meatballs that should appeal to most palates. My only criticism is that few items on the menu aren't super fresh because they sit out a little too long sometimes. The tends to be a line around lunch and dinner but it moves fairly quickly. The dining room is clean, modern looking, and the prices are great. If you sign up for a family rewards card, they'll give you free coffee.

Great food for a great price...what's not to love? I can get hangry so I love being able to shop and then stop for a bite without having to leave the building. And my family appreciates it, too. LOL! Of course, my go-to is the Swedish Meatballs. The meatballs are doused in a yummy gravy served with mashed potatoes and peas and a side of their tart lingonberry jam and it is absolutely delicious! My son and I decided to split a plate and a dessert since the portion is a pretty good size. You can get a 16 meatball plate which is what we did and it was a lot of food. We had the strawberry shortcake for dessert and it was equally delicious-sponge cake layered with pureed strawberries and cream. We really should have gotten 2 slices, hahaha. Since I am IKEA family member, I got a free coffee and I have to say, it was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had at a restaurant! I was truly impressed. Next time I'll have to ask if they sell it in the Marketplace. And even if you aren't hungry, it's nice to have a place to stop and take a break. I love the cafeteria style set-up and really the only drawback I can think of is that sometimes it gets super crowded and it's hard to find a table. Other than that, IKEA Bistro is definitely a win for us!

Compared to IKEA of Emeryville or East Palo Alto, I prefer this one better in that it's located in a big, less congested, and open area with a big parking lot (like Costco style) with plenty of available spaces without the under ground parking structure (sometimes confusing to enter or exit for East Palo Alto & Emeryville). Been visiting this location many times already since it first open a few years ago, but forgot to write a review. Have also visited a couple of times during covid-19, and it's always great to see them taking all precautions for everyone's safety as priority. Had to write a review this time because first time ever to see such a long line at this location on this Labor Day weekend! Must have been at least 100 people standing outside in line winding like an anaconda. After standing for at least 45 minutes it was nice to see IKEA staffs passing out mini water bottles and 2 flavors of delicious Electrolyte Freezer Pops! Also, sure helps a lot to stand outside at 100+ degrees hot under tents set up for shade with a few large Power Breezers blowing cool air onto everyone. Sure miss their food court with them delicious Swedish Meatballs, variety of salad or dessert dishes, and beverages during this pandemic!

It's not fine cuisine but it's better than fast food and more affordable. The Swedish meatballs are a guilty pleasure that I have enjoyed for years and the chicken strips are delicious too.

As other reviews have mentioned, the cashier at the front didn't come across as very friendly and had a RBF. She had a pretty serious demeanor and gave the impression that she didn't really want to be there. It's not a huge deal and I understand I'm not at like some Michelin star place, but I do think the customer service could be improved. One thing I also noticed was that the customer who ordered behind us received their items before we did, which was a little annoying. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back, but if I'm in the area again, I'd be willing to give some of the other menu items a try.
