### Review I think those who gave negative reviews are shallow! I believe this restaurant has transcended the definition of gourmet! I came here last week from California to attend a friend's graduation ceremony at Cornell University. We stopped here for a meal on the way! We ordered two chops, and they were incredibly delicious! I think this is the best Italian food I've ever had. It was my first time at this place... The highlight of my visit is about the time I took off my ring while washing my hands in the restroom. This ring was a gift from my late grandparents for my coming-of-age ceremony, and I've worn it for six years. It holds immense sentimental value for me. I immediately contacted the restaurant's Instagram, and the owner, Scott, responded promptly and warmly. Because the next day was Sunday and the following day was a holiday, I had to wait two days for a response. Luckily, on Tuesday, Scott personally messaged me to inform me that my ring was still there. He promptly arranged for the manager to send it to me via express mail. I can't express my gratitude enough. They even refused to let me pay for the shipping or offer any token of appreciation! Their only request was for me to visit more often in the future. I believe a restaurant isn't just about food, but also about virtues! This has gone beyond the original meaning of a restaurant. It is a wonderful place! Excrutiatingly loud. This review is from two months ago, but friends have visited since and said nothing has improved. The food is good. But to sit at a "quiet" table (which meant a screen behind one side of it) and not be able to hear anything - and I mean ANYTHING - that my spouse said is just not acceptable. My ears were ringing for two days afterward. I can't begin to imagine how damaged the wait staff's hearing is. The sad thing? The food was quite good. But we won't be back again until I read that the noise levels have been mitigated. Fabric on the walls and ceiling, partitions, rugs on the floor ... there are so many ways to do it. I've read reviews of Il Figlio at several other sites and so many pointed to the same issue: good food, but excrutiating noise levels. I don't understand why management isn't doing anything about it. Being a huge Italian foodie, I really REALLY wanted to love it here. Sadly, it fell a little flat for us. The decor is lovely - but not what I think of when I hear "Enoteca"- which is more of a cozy, warm and quiet vibe. It looks and feels more like a brasserie. And it's very, very loud. Not somewhere I'd come for a romantic dinner for two - but definitely for a fun group! The design is bit odd and from where we sat (first floor, near the front door) I sort of felt like I was in a lamp showroom with the industrial sized lamps looming over the dining room. The wine and food were good. The bread, grissini and ricotta spread were nice, but I would have preferred just top quality EVOO for the bread. We ordered the octopus appetizer to share which has a good combination of flavors, but the octopus was definitely overcooked, rubbery and visually unappealing. I think they beat the poor thing to death before cooking it. Our pastas were both delicious! I had duck papardelle and husband has squash ravioli in cream sauce. The portions were just right. The wines were good with generous pours. We chose the tartufo for dessert, which was basically a three-scoop tower of ice cream drowned in chocolate sauce - not really anything that interesting or complex, and not worth $10. The service was very good, if a bit chaotic in the beginning - several servers came to take our orders initially. But everyone was friendly and attentive. It doesn't come close to my other fave Italian gems in the HV, so not sure I'd rush back. Maybe for a pasta take out order. read more

We brought special friends from Fishkill to Il Figlio for their 50th wedding anniversary & the dinner and service exceeded our high expectations! We took the servers advice and went with the wagu steak which melted in my mouth. They were very respectful of our request to leave out certain sauces and double up on the asparagus. Wife had the angel hair pasta with truffles that the manager personally graded on it when it came out. Our guests had the steak and salmon that they split and loved it. We all shared a tiramisu cake for dessert. The service was friendly and exceltional. Our neighbors who moved here from Manhattan highly recommended this place because it reminded them of high end restaurants they dined at in the city. What can I say?? By far one of the best restaurant if not the Best in the Hudson Valley. The restaurant in itself is absolutely beautiful, the service is number one, the drinks I just love love. Now for the food the many choices as well as their special are a culinary delight. Just a small complaint it's kind of noisy, but than again no one is 100% perfect. My daughter and I visited II Figlio Enoteca on a whim, not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at the friendly welcome we received and static once we tried the food. We dined at the bar. They had a wonderful specials menu of about 5 to 6 items plus an extensive regular venue. We decided on the squash blossom appetizer and the Seabass entrée from the specials menu. It turned out to be one of those dining experiences that stays in your memory forever. The food was exquisite and the bartender wonderfully friendly and accommodating We live in Newport Rhode Island so unfortunately it will be a while before we get back to the Fishkill New York area but when we do we will most certainly not miss the chance to eat at II Figlio Enoteca again. read more

One of the best fancier restaurants in the area! The decor is immaculate. We have been here twice now and will definitely return. The first time we came, the service was quick, but the second time (shortly before Christmas) was noticeably slower due to holiday rush. Make a reservation before you come! You will be given complimentary bread with a ricotta spread that is divine. I recommend ordering the burrata and grilled Spanish octopus as appetizers. The octopus is literally sensational. For main courses, the gnocchi, tagliatelle, branzino, and daily specials have all been incredible. The dark chocolate sformato for dessert is also lovely. Very tender and fresh with a different twist with chick peas. Ordered there app special bruschetta on toast. Ripe cherry tomatoes with a ricotta spread. Very enjoyable We ordered pappardelle with duck Ragu. This was a great dish so much flavor and blends so good. Wife ordered agnolotti which are little pillows of clouds stuffed with green peas and ricotta. Very special dish it's was so amazing. First time visiting this place, Bread was surprisingly cold, wasn't expecting that. I think it would be much better warmed. I was in a hurry so only ordered appetizers. Meatballs from the special was very good and burrata was alright. Definitely enjoyed the meatballs more. They could have been a little bit hotter though. Server was great! Sabrina answered all my questions, was very straightforward and polite! Was a little struggle getting a table and had to wait a little bit to order. My seat was also placed in a spot where there was a lot of walking back and fourth from customers and staff. I had a lot of bumping into my chair. This was our first time dining at this restaurant. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday and wanted to take her somewhere she hadn't been. I made the reservation online where I also informed them we were celebrating our daughter's birthday. So when we got there, the first thing they asked was if she was celebrating her birthday. The menu has something for everyone. I had the gnocchi, my husband had the lamb, and our daughter had the duck. Everything was delicious with generous portions. There was a lot to choose from on the dessert menu too. My daughter had the pistachio sformato and I had the sorbet, both of which were yummy. And my daughter's dessert even came with a birthday candle which I thought was a nice touch. Please keep in mind when you dine here that you are required to order appetizers and dinner at the same time. We indicated to our waitress that we did not want to be rushed through our appetizer, but that didn't happen. We were just about finished with our appetizer and our dinners were brought to us. Our table was pretty crowded with glasses and dishes and when I asked our waitress to please remove my appetizer plate, she clearly was annoyed with my request. A note to the owners of the restaurant: please train your waitstaff to clear the used appetizer dishes before delivering the dinner. I would like to say that all of our dinners were very good, but ordering everything at the same time is a turn-off when the customers are rushed. We've been to Il Figlio a number of times now, as it is the successor to what was our favorite Italian spot in the HV (Il Barilotto). As has been noted elsewhere, the idea that this cavernous, 2 story space is anything resembling an 'Enoteca' is incongruous. But still, given the place's provenance, my hopes have always been high, and why I have given it so many chances. The reality is, in my opinion, that only a little of the magic from Barilotto has transferred over to the new space. Everything is good, don't get me wrong...I've never had a bad experience at Il Figlio. It's just not the kind of meal that leaves you with the feeling of, "Oh wow, I've GOT to go back to that place." There are certainly positives and negatives that we experienced during our visit . We made reservations to sit upstairs and as other reviewers stated , it was quite loud even at 5PM. They brought over bread which was amazing and came with a ricotta cheese spread . I purchased a 46.00 bottle of wine and the waiter came over and screwed off the top. Ughhh, for that price , I would like to experience the opening with the cork . That just really bugs me for a nice restaurant to have screw top bottles of wine . We ordered a salad to split and it was quite small but the dressing was really good . I ordered a pasta dish that was excellent and hubby ordered the steak which was awful . Ordered medium and it came out very rare and super tough. We drove 11/2 hours to try this place so that was quite disappointing. Also, we just barely finished our salads and they were putting our entrees in front of us . I felt rushed at that point and no time for the salad to settle . The restaurant's decor is great but they have sound attenuation/noise issues as others have pointed out. The first step to remediating this issue would be to turn the volume down on the music. The wait staff was knowledgeable but very soft spoken so hard to understand the specials with the sound issues. They have a very good wine, beer and spirits selection. Food -- let's start with great bread and whipped ricotta. The menu has a wide variety for all tastes if you like mild. I had the puttenesca which was over risotto instead of the hand-made noodles they kept mentioning in the menu. And they need to offer a spicier/fra diavallo option. All the issues are fixable at which time I'd give a 5 star rating. read more

We went on a recommendation of a local. The atmosphere was very nice and elegant. Our waitress, Julie, had lived in Italy and pronounced everything very well, was super sweet and knowledgeable, and didn't rush us at all... Italian time. The bread was very fresh and so food with the spread. We got the Burrata as well and the grilled veggies really set off the flavor. I asked if there were any house made pastas and there are several. I went with the spinach cavatelli and hubs got the NY strip. It was like an explosion of flavor in my mouth. I don't usually get dessert, but I decided to only eat half so I could try a desert. I had the pistachio sformato... it was like lava cake met gernache, met crust, met Klondike. The richness and mixture of flavor with the little red wine I saved was like heaven. Gorgeous new space. Interior decorating is really nice with a robins egg blue. There is a second floor area. We didn't expect the decor from a restaurant in a strip mall. We sat at the bar met the owner who also helped us choose a bottle of wine. The staff was all very nice. We got fried squash blossoms and pastas. Yum! Portions are huge! I picked this place because of the reviews on the food but was very pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful the ambiance was. The decor was perfectly modern and glamorous. My girlfriend and I felt like we were dining in NYC. The two levels allowed for space so you could still feel intimate. The food was absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful dining experience at Il Figlio Enoteca. From the delicious multi colored beet salad to our main courses, each dish was a wonderful blend of fresh ingredients and unique combinations. The duck pate was truly amazing. My husband's grilled octopus was the best he said he has ever eaten - and we have lived and travelled all over the world. I love duck, however I had never tasted duck ragu served over penne pasta before. It was an amazing blend of flavors. Unfortunately, I have celiac disease so I couldn't sample his octopus appetizer, however, I did try his steak and it was pure perfection. My only negative comment would be to be a bit more careful serving people who have celiac disease. The duck pate was served with regular bread -- despite my informing the wait staff of my medical condition. Luckily, the charming glass jar, containing the pate was closed, so we were easily able to rectify that situation. I would recommend having some gluten free crackers (or flatbreads) on hand. They are available at most grocery stores. Luckily, I had gluten free pretzels in our car so I used them to enjoy the pate which was, as I mentioned above delicious. I made a reservation for my sister's birthday with a weeks notice. The day before I had some cocktails and met with the manager to explain it was a special dinner and I indicated this also when I made the reservation online. The restaurant was full the night of our dinner and we were seated upstairs between two large parties and the service station where dishes were cleaned off. Our party was only three yet we could not hear each other during dinner. Our server was very nice but had to shout over the noise to tell us the specials and take our orders. We had cocktails prior to dinner and then an expensive bottle of wine with our dinners. Once we ordered dinner it took awhile for our food to be served, the dishes were not hot and my steak as tough as leather. Since our server was all over the place we decided to make the best of it so we wouldn't have to wait another 30 minutes to eat. At the end of our meal our server asked if we wanted dessert, I was astounded that no instruction was followed that it was a birthday and the restaurant could not even provide a cupcake with a candle on it before we would order dessert. Overall the birthday dinner was miserable, a bad located table for three, very high noise level, mediocre food and no restaurant interest to making this a special night, yet the evening before the manager said she would take care of everything for our special evening. My wife and I visit the Hudson Valley frequently alone and with groups of friends, we will certainly not come here again. I heard back from the owner of the restaurant and his responses were insulting like I was expecting something for nothing. My response was if he looked a my bill he would have seen the wine bottle I ordered was one of the more expensive wines on the list. I recently celebrated my son's birthday at this restaurant, expecting a memorable dining experience. However, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth, despite the UNsweet gesture of a NON-complimentary scoop of ice cream! When my wife made the reservation, she specifically mentioned that we were celebrating our son's birthday. After we finished our meal, the waiter discreetly asked me, while my son was away in the restroom, if he should add a scoop of ice cream. I casually agreed, thinking it would be a nice touch. However, I was taken back when we received just a single scoop of ice cream with a candle stuck in it, and to add insult to injury, we were charged $4 for it. It was quite a surprise, and not a pleasant one. I mean they couldn't just add a measlie brownie or piece of cake. I have gone to Athena gyro around the corner and they have given me deserts for free for no reason! Needless to say I will never go there again. The food was just ok. People just make a big deal because it's a new place. The food was just average. I have to admit that the interior design was nicer than normal for restaurant in the 845, but that isn't saying much.
