Tonight we met friends for dinner, surprisingly they don't offer bread! I read a review that said plenty of gluten free option, I'm celiac and I have to disagree! I had the salmon to be safe. I felt compelled to leave a review after having dinner there Friday, June 17th 2022. Our table was waiting for our party of 9 as promised, no waiting! Impressive right... WRONG!! Our waiter was downright rude, the place was so noisey that you couldn't hear the person across the table from you, the food was immensely salty (three of those salty diners were inedible), portion size was minuscule, and also NO bread with your meal. In addition to the above comments, I found it offensive (not to mention ILLEGAL), to round one's bill UP to the nearest dollar. If you know good Italian food, stay away! read more

When it comes to Il Mio, it's all about personal preference. The atmosphere is somewhere between a loud crowded up scale bar and a packed New York City restaurant. It's hard to hear and you're pretty much shoulder to shoulder with everyone else. While the seating is comfortable enough, with it's high top tables it has a bit of a bar louie feel. Because of these things I wouldn't recommend it for a date night or special occasion. That being said there are other aspects of this place that make it still worth going. They have a nice list of wines and cocktails of varying prices, and the food is absolutely delicious. For an appetizer we got the arancini, which we both loved. They come three to an order and have a light crispy exterior with a creamy warm soft inside. While they do have meat in them it's not a huge amount so it doesn't overpower the other ingredients but rather compliments them. The flavors are mild and satisfying. I had the pasta special which was linguini with shrimp. There was a generous portion of shrimp that was perfectly cooked. The meal was packed full of flavor. I couldn't stop eating it. My husband had the linguini and clams. Again it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Additionally the portion of clams was generous. Definitely worth the price. For dessert we got the chocolate lava cake and the s'more dessert to split. I have to say while the dessert wasn't bad it certainly didn't wow us like the first two parts of the meal did. They weren't bad just very average. Our server was great. She was super busy yet friendly and attentive. So all in all. It's a good place depending on what you want. read more

Not a great first impression. The 3 hostesses were standing there doing nothing. We were looking to catch a few apps and drinks at the bar. The hostess was like "I'm short" you can go look yourself. We decided to try Il Mio, a new restaurant near us in Clarendon Hills. We ordered 'to go'. Not only was the food spectacular, but the place earned my loyalty FOREVER!! First the food, the flatbreads, the pastas, and the Eggplant Parm were out of this world! And second the service, the server handed my wife the wrong to go order, and NOT ONLY did they tell us to keep what we have but they personally drove the correct order to our house and also gave us a gift card for a future dinner. I this was our first time at Il Mio. it's a lovely restaurant, wonderful atmosphere, and we had heard the food was delicious. We took my daughter and son-in-law for her birthday, and the four of us had drinks, two appetizers, entrées, three desserts and dessert coffees. Everything was beyond our expectation! Our bill came to a little over $350 without the tip! As we were sitting there, finishing our coffee and chatting a bartender (and I know this because I saw him working behind the bar) walked over and asked us,"since you are finished if could you either move to the bar or leave!" He said that they needed the table free! When we were leaving, there were only a couple of people standing there! I thought that this was beyond rude, and for an expensive restaurant it was uncalled for! That's a part of working in the restaurant industry! People are socializing, and are chatting as they eat! We literally were sitting there for maybe 10 minutes beyond our meal! We were there for almost 2 hours which I thought was pretty average for a family going out and having a nice meal together. I would never return to this restaurant just because of the way we were treated! With tip our bill was over $400 and they asked us to leave or move to the bar?! Shame on them! We had a reservation for 13 people, from toddlers to grandparents. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, and they did a wonderful job bringing kids' meals with adult appetizers and drinks. Not easy, but they made it appear so. The food was excellent. Everything was as ordered and delicious. I especially liked the orecchiette dish, but everyone liked what they ordered. Have been to other restaurants by Rich Ciota, but this is a great place for friends and date nite.Het the grilled octopus, flatbread margarita for appetizers, then had the sea bass and linguine with white sauce. Amazing! We love il Mio. I live in Chicago but my sister and brother-in-law live in Clarendon Hills and it is a MUST that we visit the restaurant when we're in the suburbs. The atmosphere and food are fantastic, it feels like a downtown spot. We especially love the calamri, meat/cheese board, brussel sprout salad, and pretty much any of the flatbreads because at this point we have probably tried them all. My sister also eats gluten-free and she gets the Caccio Pepe with GF noodles. It's still equally as fantastic. 10/10! read more

The chicken pepperoncini is delicious but since it takes a bit of time to prepare I think the chef is shortcutting the cooking of the chicken. The last two times we ordered it the potatoes and peppers have a dark carmelized look and taste, however the chicken did not, and almost seemed steamed! read more

My first time at Il Mio and it was a wonderful dining experience.. Starting with being greeted by the manager with a big smile and then directed to our booth of great comfort. We were given plenty of time to review the menu and she was diligent in presenting out drinks, the best and biggest Vodka and Tonic I ever had, it was great. The appetizers were tender and tasty. Then came the food it was perfect I asked for no salt and tender broccolini and it was delivered to our table just perfectly, no salt!!! My dinner guests we equally as impressed and totally satisfied. All I can say is don't miss dinner at Il Mio's it's worth the drive, I came from Glenview to try this restaurant, worth the wait and prices were great too. Try it as soon as possible. We were never seated. Had a confirmed 6:30 reservation on Tuesday evening. It was my wife's birthday. We arrived on time and checked in. We were told it would be a couple of minutes while they cleared our table. At 7:00 we told one of the three hostesses that we were leaving never to return. At no time did any one of these ladies update us on the status of our potential table. If you enjoy being ignored in an environment where the noise level exceeds your comfort level this is your go to. Needless to say we have no opinion on the menu. We never saw one. read more

I have to say we had a very mediocre meal here. Well, the service was excellent. The prices were astronomical you did not get a lot for your money and the food was just meh. I don't understand getting water at your table, but not having ice in it. It doesn't make sense to me to drink warm tapwater. That said, I thought the calamari was the star of the place. I might come back here to get the calamari, even though it was expensive about four dollars more than I usually pay but it was quite good and the aïoli and red sauce are both excellent. That's about all the positive that I could do. The meatballs were dry and not very tasty. The sauce was a bit acidic for my taste. The seafood pasta did not taste that fresh so I honestly can't recommend this place. The clientele here were what I would call yuppies, rich people. Perhaps that's where it was located but I did not see working people here. unless you have a lot of money burning a hole in your pocket try somewhere else maybe it was a bad night maybe it's just me, but I will not be patronizing here again read more

Other parties the same size who knew owner with reservations after us were seated as we continued to wait. At 630p we walked out as the 6th party to come in after us was seated.
