My husband and I came here on a whim on a weeknight and we were definitely impressed! We didn't make a reservation, and luckily we didn't need to. The ambiance is calming as soon as you walk in. I love the decor. We were pretty hungry, so for an appetizer we ordered the arancini balls. We had arancini at our wedding and always have to try them to see if they are just as good - they were! For entrees, I got the Paglia E Fieno and my husband got the Linguine Vongole. We were both so happy with our food! Mine was definitely a creamier dish, which is what I wanted, while my husband's was more on the lighter side, which is also what he wanted. The only down side was that the clams were pretty small compared to pictures that we saw online. It still tasted great though! Now that we know this place exists and is closeby, we will 100% be back again next time we're craving some pasta! read more

Have been about 10 times over the years, so needless to say one of my favorites. Beth was our server who was fun and had good energy. I had a Negroni to start and order a bottle of Montepulciano for the table. We had a charcuterie board to start and with the great bread and wine we could have stopped but we ordered gnocchi, eggplant (huge) and rigatoni and lemon cake to take home. Our second time dinning here! The experience was just as wonderful as the first. We were warmly welcomed and brought to our table. We loved being seated toward the back and seeing that part of the restaurant despite previously being seated by a booth in the bar. Our server was just wonderful. We're helpful with the menu. We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, I started off with a blackberry Hugo spritz and my other half with a aperol spritz. Both were refreshing and very tasty. We decided to skip a appetizer but gladly accepted the bred and olive oils they served. Also very tasty. My other half got the shrimp pasta, which had the best sauce. I stopped here two weeks ago on my birthday actually for a quick cocktail and lunch after a work conference in Cranberry. I sat at the bar and had excellent service from the bartender- the receipt said her name was Beth! She made me a fabulous cocktail- an extra dirty Bombay martini, my absolute favorite drink! I had the misticanza salad which was alright, the best part about it was the fresh gorgonzola! I wish the roasted peppers were warm. Also had some fabulous bread and oil. What has happened to this place. Il Pizzola used to be one of my favorite restaurants but after take out yesterday it will be a long time before we return. Let's start with a pizza that was so thin and wet on the bottom we had to cook to make it eatable. Then there was the ravioli in a watered down sauce, undercooked and basically horrible. Ordered a Caesar salad with no olives, but guess what it came with! And the dressing container was smashed and all over the place. Lastly, the side of bread was so dry it had to be thrown out or toasted to eat. How does anyone let this get out of the kitchen? On top of all this their prices have gotten so high it's not even reasonable for this type of restaurant. You can go to Domenico's on 19 in cranberry and get a much better dinner at much better prices. I really hope this place improves and they really look at their prices and determine what type of establishment they want to be. read more

I was staying in the area for the evening and really craving some good Italian, so I came here and they did not disappoint! I sat at the bar, since I was solo and the bartender was decent in taking care of me, she had to balance other tables in the bar area, as well as bar guests and making drinks. I took many of her suggestions and they came out quite well. Started with their wedding soup and it was incredible! One of the best I've had in the area. Plenty of chicken breast chunks and several nice sized meatballs in it! Next up was their salad and again, incredible! The dressing was so tasty and the entire salad was made with fresh ingredients. I then ordered their Ragu for my main course - it was really good! It came with a sausage, a braciole, and a meatball. The meatball was really big, tender and tasty! The braciole (the main reason I ordered this dish) was just ok, definitely thick with meat, but slightly on the dry side. The sausage was good. The sauce was nicely done and flavorful and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Overall, I'd recommend this place and I'll be back for really good Italian! read more

I'm giving this one 4 stars based on a scale that is imaginary, but I think pretty fair. Il Pizzaiolo is good, but on balance expensive. It's not a pizza joint, but if you're going, go for the pizza. I got the salad with salmon and really, how great can a salad be. So, no harm, no foul there. +/-0. My son got the Cavatelli Rapini which was good (though somewhat of an acquired taste). +1 star. My daughter got the gnocchi which was overcooked, so it was mushy. That's a -1. My wife got the Marinara Pizza which was outstanding and worth the money for +2 stars. Smokey and slightly sweet. Maybe it was due to the fact that I liked the marinara sauce overall which was not too acidic and also not too sweet at the same time, which is hard for a restaurant to get right. +1 star for excellent service on a busy Mother's Day. +0.5 star for a nice, varied menu with lots of great looking choices. +0.5 star for very nice ambiance and cleanliness. We were there on a Monday night places packed. I had the chicken parm, she had the shrimp Diavola. This place is great. We totally lucked out finding it thanks Yelp. Great family vibe going on here from the staff to the patrons. We are from out of town and tell that plenty of families were regulars coming here. Owner came over made sure that we are having a nice time, great personality, chatted us up for a bit. We let him know that we appreciated the restaurant and could tell they put a lot of love in it. He disappeared for a few minutes and came back with his homemade lemoncello. We all had a drink together and cheers'd and chatted for a few more minutes before he had to start closing up. The restaurant was very busy but our table was ready when we arrived, about 10 minutes early. Service was prompt and timely, but not hurried. The food was excellent. We started with drinks and I got the spritz Hugo which was perfectly refreshing! I believe my fiancé got a beer and mentioned their good selection. We started with the arancini which was great. It came with two kinds - one with a yellow rice and some sort of meat inside and the other was white rice with cheese inside (my fave). I got the chicken parm which is my fave to order from an Italian restaurant and it was perfect. The chicken was so juicy and tender. If the spaghetti wasn't made on site, I'd be surprised because it tasted like it. My fiancé got the margarita pizza and it was delicious! Reminds me of the pizza I had in Italy years ago. My family had a great first experience at Il Pizzaiolo. We are not usually in Warrendale, but I know friends have raved about this place. We were in Cranberry for a birthday party so we decided to stop by for dinner after. We arrived on a Sunday at 5 pm with no reservation and were seated right away outside. They have a covered patio and it was an unseasonably warm day. It really felt like we were on vacation since we were somewhere new to us and sitting outside in November. Our waitress was amazing. She gave great recommendations, made conversation, and was really friendly. We ordered a bottle of amarone della valpollicella and arancini to start. We got a mix of cheese and beef arancini. They were pretty good, but a little bit dry. We were interested in ordering the appetizer plate of vegetables, but were glad when our waitress informed us that they were cold/room temp veggies. Instead of another app we each ordered a pasta dish for dinner. After asking our waitress for her suggestion, I went with the pappardelle alla funghi (pasta tossed with assorted mushrooms, white wine, pancetta, cream, and parmesan reggiano cheese, topped with fresh cracked black pepper). The pasta was perfectly al dente and the cream sauce was to die for. I never order a heavy pasta with cream sauce, but I was so hungry and this sounded amazing. Next time I want to try my usual favorite - linguine with clams. My mom loved her tagliatelle bolognese and my dad loved his veal manicotti al forno. The food was hot and fresh, service was great, and they had a solid wine list. We would definitely make the trip out to Warrendale again just to eat here. read more

We visited Il Pizzaiolo in Warrendale and couldn't have been more pleased with our dining experience. The restaurant is upscale but has a relaxed welcoming vibe that makes you feel like family as soon as you arrive. All the staff were very professional and our server Elizabeth couldn't have done a better job. The menu is real Italian fare with many dishes not found in most Italian restaurants. Since we were there in the afternoon we ordered Misticanza salads with a wedge of Gorgonzola and a wood fired Margherita pizza made to perfection with authentic Italian San Marzano DOP tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, extra virgin olive oil, and fresh basil on a Caputo 00 dough. All in all, it was a real pleasure from start to finish. We will absolutely return. read more

We have never been to this location and learned more about its authentic flavor upon arrival. Love the decor with three different type dining areas which I thought was very tastefully and beautifully done. Oh, there is outdoor seating too but chilly today! We were greeted promptly and with a friendly smile and seated where we chose. Laura was our attentive, informative, friendly, professional server who also happily took fabulous pics of us when asked. She described all the pizzas which I have never seen done before anywhere! She also described the wines and offered tasters to decide. During our lunch stop, Hope stopped at our table to make sure all was well. She's the awesome GM. I must preface I am 100 percent Italian and a food snob because of my upbringing. However we love love it here! First time we had pasta e fagioli and it was amazing. It was an app size but was way bigger than we expected. We ordered the pizza with prosciutto and arugula which was excellent. Had to take some of it home for later because we were full from our app! Atmosphere is superb and warm. Service excellent. We were out Friday nite looking for a Mexican restaurant (Cinco de mayo). Every Mexican themed restaurant was completely booked. We stopped at ll Pizzaiolo, Watrendale, hoping to get dinner? We were greeted and seated immediately. The servers were quick, knowledgeable and friendly. The food/drinks outstanding! Lasagna, veal Marsala, sea bass and pasta bolognase. The tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basil was fabulous, could've been a meal in itself. Added a slice of gorgonzola cheese but don't think it was needed as the salad was plenty flavorful with a nice vinaigrette dressing. For my entree, the Tagliatelle Bolognese was AMAZING! Pasta was cooked perfectly al Dante, and the bolognese was meaty, tender and very flavorful - this is a winner! Friends ordered the Gnocchi and Ravioli, both filling and enjoyable. Unfortunately II Pizzaiolo used to be 5+ star Neapolitan, especially the Mt Lebo location. Started going downhill when they only offered in-house made mozzarella instead of imported DOP buffalo mozzarella. Ron should have learned from past ventures but apparently he didn't. I've been a customer for 20 years and will consider other options until I hear of changes. The last several times we visited the pizza dough has been considerably different. Thicker and more doughy. The sauce is really the only part that's maintained the standards they used to set in this area. Very disappointing. I used to see him regularly in Mt Lebo. I have yet to see him in the two locations up North in 100+ visits. read more

The pizza was pretty good and it's a very pretty venue, I will give them that. But my compliments end there. Service was among the absolute worst my family has had in the entire city. The waitress was not very polite and would often offer us things like more bread or water and just never return. At that point just don't offer it? The pasta my mother got was atrocious: It's like they shot a squirt of oil onto the dish from across the room and called it a day. Absolutely no flavor. The ambiance was good but never in a million years is it worth the price. I would highly recommend going to any of the other places in the plaza.
