Solid meal. Instead of a regular appetizer, we ordered the pizza since we heard people raving about it. It was delicious with a nice crisp and combination of sauce (not too acidic) and toppings. The chicken parm had good portions. The chicken cutlets were lightly seasoned and thankfully not drenched in sauce like some other places like to. The chicken was crispy as a result. Spaghetti was Al dente. The ragu Napoletano was a wonderful assortment of meatballs, beef braciole, and sausage. It was a very satisfying savory meal. My girlfriends and I came here on a Friday evening for dinner. It had been highly recommended by many of my patients so I was excited to try it. I knew it would be a little more pricey but I was willing to give it a try based on its reputation! We arrived at 5:30 and were seated very quickly. The restaurant was not very full - there were more people on the bar side which was the only part of the restaurant that served happy hour. Our waitress filled our water glasses and provided suggestions when we could not decide on what salad to share at the table. We ended up with the Misticanza - a mediterranian styled salad with tomatoes, chickpeas, olives, cheese, peppers and carrots, heavily dressed (almost too much) with a vinaigrette. Despite the dressing amount, it was a super fresh salad and a refreshing, light way to begin our meal. We then were served a basket of bread with a small plate of olive oil for dipping. The oil was definitely Italian as it was very nutty and flavorful. The bread had a crusty exterior with a super soft interior, however I felt it would have been much better warm. It was a part of the meal I could leave untouched. We decided to split two pizzas between the four of us. Per recommendation, we ordered the Bianca Pizza and Salsiccia Pizza. The Bianca was a white pizza with oil, ricotta, mozzarella, and parm - this was hands down the best part of the meal (with a consensus at the table)! The Salsiccia was topped with tomato sauce, very little cheese, and coin sized pieces of sweet sausage. The crust of both pizzas were very thin, very Italian like - the white pizza held up better as the sausage pizza was super flimsy and falling apart when trying to eat it. I was not a big fan of the tomato sauce and wished there was more cheese on it. Because we all shared the items among the table, prices were reasonable per person. However, I would not come here for a $20 pizza on a regular basis, though the white pizza may be an exception. The size of the salad was comparable for its price. The rest of the appetizer and entree items were more than I would want to spend on a typical evening out, unless we were celebrating something. The ambiance of this restaurant is unique and kind of cool. It was pretty dark inside, with fake tea lights on all the tables. The light fixtures looked like tree branches and dark wooden beams adorned the ceilings above. There was a section of the restaurant where the walls were graced with fancy wine racks with bottles and more bottles of wine! Overall, a nice date night feel. I would like to bring my husband here someday as we live so close. I also have heard the pasta is made from scratch so I would not be opposed to trying it. We came from Ohio and met friends here. This is a grand restaurant in almost rural America. We have been to Italy, and we relived wonderful food memories here because everything was so similar. This venue is casual or dress up with a comfortable upscale feel. The food was fabulous. We ordered pasta and sides of meatballs. The sauce was fresh and oh, so good. The pizza was crispy with just the right amounts of ingredients. We shared the Italian charcuterie which had tasty meats, cheeses and olives. The service was immaculate. My favorite wine bar to come to for drinks in the Cranberry-Warrendale-Wexford area. I'd change my rating to 5-stars if they offered amazing Happy Hour specials. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The bar area is well appointed with a dozen chairs at the bar, a few high top tables, and some regular tables. Their wine menu includes some nice wines available by the glass ($14-25), you won't find elsewhere locally. A few appetizers or pizza to share and together it makes for a nice girls night out or date night. Not a wine drinker? They also have a full bar including beers on tab. My husband and I came here for dinner on Friday night. We got in around 5:30, and we were asked if we had a reservation. We did not, and the hostess kind of frowned, even though the restaurant was maybe 1/2 full. She offered us a six top in the restaurant or a two top in the bar portion. We sat in the bar as to not take away from any larger parties coming in. We also totally don't mind sitting in the bar! We ordered the Diavola pizza (we're on a mission to try every pizza place in the area), which was basically a salami pizza with a little kick. It was pretty average. I enjoyed the brick oven-fired crust, but it was quite soggy in the middle. There was plenty of salami on the pizza, and I enjoyed the sauce. We were not totally thrilled with the service, as we waited quite awhile after our server cleared our plates for our check. Meanwhile, she brought and picked up two other tables checks. We will likely be back for pasta, as I saw many dishes on the menu I would enjoy; however, I wouldn't get the pizza again. read more

The only complaint we have is that this restaurant is not in Buffalo, NY where we live! Today we were on the way home from Pittsburgh and really wanted some good Italian food. This place is outside Cranberry in a nice suburban area. One of the owners, Bob I believe, greeted us at the door and stopped to check on our dining experience a couple of times during the meal. I like when the owners are present and working during the lunch and dinner hour. My daughter had homemade tagliatelle with marinara and what she claims to be the best meatballs she's ever had! My daughter and I went to il Pizzaiolo for a girls dinner out expecting a wonderful evening and amazing food. We are frequent customers and have enjoyed the food and service in the past. Unfortunately, tonight was extremely disappointing. We had an early reservation at 5:30 and were seated promptly at a table in the bar area, where there were not many people seated at the time. We sat for about 15 minutes before our server came to our table. We ordered an appetizer as well as both of our entrees at once. The appetizer came out in a timely manner. However, we waited a full hour for our meal. Customers that were seated after us were served and left prior to us even being served. Our server told us that our food would be out in 2 minutes, about 15-20 minutes later our meals arrived and we had already been in the restaurant close to an hour and a half. When our meals arrived I expressed in a very diplomatic manner that we had waited an hour for our meals, and instead of apologizing she simply said , " it wasn't an hour. Your order must have been put in behind a larger party " ( they were SETTING UP for the larger party while we were ordering our food.). At this point we just wanted to get our check and leave. My daughter asked for our check we left disappointed. We have enjoyed il Pizzaiolo many times in the past and celebrated special occasions there. We recently went here for a birthday dinner with family. The ambiance was lovely, the waitress was so nice and tended to our needs. However, we had to wait an hour for our food. The bread for dipping was dry and tasteless. You would expect warm and tasty bread at the least. The food was hot. We ordered the rigatoni with meatballs, chicken marsala, and some other pasta. Amazing service , great food and yummy wine. We found a great bottle of wine, it was actually the cheapest in the menu for $68. A bit pricey for my taste but it was very good. I looked it up online when we got home so we could buy some for our collection and it was only $12. I know restaurants mark up bottle of wine and liquor but that's nearly 6x. Came out to this cute spot! The atmosphere is stunning! We started things off with aperol spritz, mussels and arancini! All very satisfying and tasty! Moving on to entree's I got the gnocchi! The pasta itself was amazing, the sauce could of been better. My SO got the lasagna, he enjoyed it very much. Our friends got the eggplant parm which was enjoyed. Lastly, the linguine with clams. I can't say enough wonderful things about this establishment. The food and cocktails are wonderful . But more impressive is the kindness of their staff. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. The hostess and a gentleman, who I presume to be the owner, were so sweet to my not quite 2 year old. They brought over toy cars, coloring pages, and a teddy bear which absolutely made his evening! The food was decent enough, although everything was a little heavily sauced. Unfortunately we had a bad experience at the Wexford location. Service extremely slow. Almost an hour before our dinner order taken. Waiter had too many tables all sat around the same time. When we complained about one of the dinners being heavily spiced to the point it could not be eaten, the waiter alerted the manager. The manager came over, however proceeded to state that the fact the plate was spicy was clearly listed on the menu. We knew the menu did not list this in the description. The manager was very defensive and the encounter was not apologetic in nature. After he repeatedly defended his stance, eventually he stated he would remove the item from our bill. We have never experienced this service, food inconsistency or issues before and have eaten here frequently. We are hoping this was an unfortunate experience that won't happen again. read more

Took my aunt, uncle and mother her for lunch today. I wanted to take them to Off the Hook but they didn't open uni 5:00. I got the carbonara which was horrible. It send pancetta but tasted like bacon, burnt bacon. The sauce was like water and the entire dish had no taste at all. My mom had the pasta with the pink sauce which also had no taste.
