I enjoyed their chicken appetizers but was so unhappy with the rest of my meal. The service was nice and atmosphere was good yet my ramen was disappointing. They mixed up my order with someone at my table because we both ordered pork ramen but in different flavors.( there was only 2 of us and We didn't switch back because we already ate too much before we realized) even while eating my ramen I was unimpressed with the flavors and lack of depth. Just salty with no underlying profiles. Instant ramen has a better flavor profile than the one I was served. What really ticked me off was that somehow, they managed to burn my noodles?? That's in a broth?? The bottom of my small and overpacked bowl had burnt and crispy noodles which were all stuck together yet soggy noodles on the top. It ultimately made it impossible to eat half of it. I also ordered kimchi on the side which was a +$3.00 charge for the smallest sized sauce container? I was a little upset because the kimchi was clearly not stored properly. It was rotten and tasted off which really stuck out to my tastebuds and nose(I'm Asian and grew up eating kimchi, Its obvious when it's gone bad) not okay if I'm paying for and consuming it. I have yet to return since my not-so-amazing bowl of tori paitan ramen, with an off-flavored broth and tasteless, chewy smoked pork loin. This is easily one of my favorite go-to places in the city! They sell various types of Asian rice and noodle (udon, ramen, pho) bowls, some appetizers, and also sandwiches. They offer a mix of Asian flavors (Japanese, Korean, and also Vietnamese?), but regardless of being a sort of fusion type of restaurant, their flavors are so on point! Generous portion and great for the price too! The first dish I tried was curry rice. The curry was not spicy, and it has a rich, creamy feel that just goes so well with rice. The toppings are all fresh and well cooked. It is such a comforting meal! The other time I had their seafood kimchi ramen! OMG! It's SO good! It has the fragrance of kimchi, a spicy kick (but not too spicy), and a touch of acidity that is so refreshing and keeps you coming back for more. The noodle has a bouncy, QQ texture. Generous and delicious toppings! Even though I'm not usually big on ramen, I actually love this one. And I know it's not a typical, traditional ramen flavor I would usually find in a Japanese restaurant, but it's DELICIOUS! Definitely recommended. Got the spicy tori ramen with pork and spicy pork udon. I thought the ramen looked a little undercooked but I was surprisingly wrong! It was the perfect chewy texture and not mushy at all. I preferred the ramen over the udon. It had more flavor and was a little richer, though both were good. I wish the soups came out hotter. It was lukewarm and cooled quickly before we even finished, and we're fast eaters. The prices for the ramen/udon are okay but the rest of the menu seems overpriced. I tried one of their punches and it was $4 for a small cup full of ice. What little punch I did have was refreshing. Dining in is like Panera; order first at the counter and pick a seat after. Gets a little tricky when it's extremely busy. All the tables have signs that asks you not to take it if your party is less than 3 people but the only other option is sitting bar style, elbow to elbow next to strangers. My friend and I ordered the spicy tori ramen with pork, the spicy pork udon, and smoked salmon potato salad. Order at the front, find a place to sit with your number and someone brings you your food. I was quite surprised how fast our food arrived.  I really liked the smoked salmon potato salad. It's very strong and delicious. I liked the spicy tori ramen more than the spicy pork udon; the ramen was just more flavorful than the udon. I thought I was going to get Japanese style fatty pork slices, but instead, the ramen had lean cuts of pork. The ramen was chewy and the bamboo shoots added extra bite as well. The soft egg was a little overcooked so that the yolk was half hard/half runny and it was flavorless. Otherwise, presentation of the bowl of ramen is gorgeous and overall very enjoyable meal. Really cool Asian fusion place with a nice chill location, really glad I ate here on my short time in Michigan over the weekend. Had the unagi-don and was extremely satisfied with it, loved the taste of the bbq glaze sauce on it and on the rice. He ordered one of the ramen dishes (the spicy one) and he loved it! Even though it was very spicy it still had amazing flavor. I ordered the golden curry with added tofu. That tofu was AMAZING! I love that it wasn't fried and it was flavored extremely well! The curry was so flavorful and the veggies throughout were perfect! The portions are great here, I had so much left over to take home, and nothing seemed outrageously priced. Our waiter convinced us to try the dessert( didn't take much convincing, honestly) which was a tofu custard with strawberries. If you haven't had tofu custard RUN to ima. WOW! I really liked Ima... but everything is really salty. it's a very casual setting, you place your order at the counter and they bring your food and drinks to you. We chose to sit next to the kitchen (we like watching our food being prepared). All 4 of us chose to get ramen... they have a huge selection if you don't want pork based soup! My brother got a vegetarian option, I finally ordered a nonpork based ramen broth (I don't like pork). The spicy is not spicy for us, the vegetables are decently fresh. I'm really surprised this place has such good reviews. It definitely wasn't bad, but I wouldn't call it good. I had the udon, my husband had ramen, and my daughter had the buttered udon with veggies. We also got a pickle plate. My husbands ramen was probably the best, but we go to quite a few ramen restaurants and will say that it was one of the most mediocre we've had. My udon was missing mushrooms it was supposed to come with (husband got them in his so definitely not out of stock), and it lacked flavor. It was much better when I added chili sauce. My daughters had a good inch of melted butter at the bottom, so it was extremely greasy- and the only taste we could catch was nutritional yeast. The pickle plate was odd. The cucumbers and the cauliflower were okay, the kimchi was alright, the mushrooms weren't even pickled. The biggest issue we had honestly was the fact that these two adult meals, one kids meal, and one appetizer were all small portions. Perfect portions for one meal, actually. Except the adult meals were $20 each, and the tiny pickle plate that had very few vegetables and two mini sauce cups of kimchi was $6. We spent over $50 on a very small amount of food that just wasn't great, which was disappointing. We have no interest in going back. Edit to add: reading reviews here and on google Im noticing a lot of "I didn't know what I was ordering" or "I had never had ___ before!" So it looks like most of those good reviews are coming from people who dont know what ramen/pho is SUPPOSED to taste like. Service Not the best ordering experience. It was our first time here and we are unfamiliar with the kind of food they offer. The cashier was the gentleman with the English accent. He spoke quietly and the music was loud so it was hard to hear him and a bit difficult to understand due to the accent, but I had to basically pull answers out of him about menu items and how to customize a bowl. Not sure how to describe it but it didn't fit the location or food style of the restaurant. Not a big deal though, I suppose. Just a note. Food We ordered the udon with chicken and another with ginger beef. The bowl was delicious! The sauce had such a good flavor and was served very hot in temperature. The chicken seemed blah and pre-packaged. So don't except juicy chunks of freshly cooked chicken. Also, the menu description said it would be sesame chicken but it looked like plain boiled cubes of chicken. Anyways, it was delish. Price $15 out the door for each udon bowl. Kind of expensive. It is a big bowl. But that price doesn't include any side or drink. I think maybe the price is a tad bit too high. Vegan options are super bland, atmosphere & staff are exceptional, and non- vegan options my family had loved. The vegan udon I got the tofu was bland had no seasoning would have been greatly appreciated to have it marinated (yuzu, miso, brown sugar, etc), the bok choy was still raw even just torching it would have helped, the thyme should have just been an infused oil cause the actual thyme was still raw and I had to spit it out, not much thought into a broth very generic, some garlic confit could help the dish as well. Very disappointing experience. Called around 9:30pm to see what time kitchen closes, they said 9:55pm, I asked a question and then they went silent after, so I hung up. Fast forward 10 minutes I walk in and host was speaking with a tone full of animosity & sass.
