I told the girlfriend to hit the gym near DT so we can grab a late breakfast at the Immigrant Son Caffe. The wait for 2 was a bit over 30 minutes but it's a Sunday and it's our rest day so, what the heck, we had time to kill. The wait was totally worth it because the food was delicious. I had the breakfast lasagna just because I've never had a "breakfast lasagna" before. Our server assured me that it isn't cheesy at all (I don't care for the American lasagna because it's too damn cheesy). The girlfriend went for the Aunt Anna eggs Benedict because her name is Ann ‍. Brunchin before a beach day is my favorite way to spend a Sunday! Placing our food orders was fast and efficient and they answered our questions and made recommendations accordingly. Plenty of parking available, and we sat in their outdoor patio area. It has a cute vibe as you sit there sipping on your mimosa and people watch. I ordered the bacon flight which was AMAZING. Brought my daughters here. Planning to spend some time at San Buenaventura State Beach nearby, and was looking to collect seashells and see the tar (really, it bubbles up there). Looked for a breakfast spot that would be ok with my *picky* eaters (and not Denny's). Found this spot and took a chance. SOOO good, and really cute. Romantic as all get-out for couples. I think it's *that* brunch spot around here. I had the poached egg avocado toast. Lovely. Not Italian, but very So Cal. My oldest had the pancakes (perfect) and my youngest had the cinnamon brioche French toast. Her first time having French toast at all . The gamble paid off . She loves it. I loved the bites I stole . Also, expertly pulled espresso shot was on the money. Miguel and Jasmine served us - super friendly and helpful. Jasmine taught my kids the trick of crumpling the paper on your straw and adding drops of water to make it grow like a snake. Made their day. And when my oldest tasted the microscopic amount of lemon that escaped into her water, the owner personally grabbed us a second glass in, like, ten seconds. Bonus: on our way out, we were each gifted a freshly crisped waffle cookie (sorry, I missed the Italian name) made from the original recipe of the owners grandmother. Immigrant Son indeed! Holy deliciousness! We went up to Ventura to cool off and escape the valley inferno, we were planning on eating somewhere else but after walking around decided to check out Immigrant Son. Sooo glad we did. They were about to close at 2 pm but the girl behind the counter was super sweet and said the'd serve us. You order your food, pay then sit down and they'll bring it to you. We ordered the breakfast lasagne, and carbonara pasta, a cappuccino and strawberry pastry. Lets put it this way... it was lasagne-love at first bite! Before our 2nd bite that we were savoring, we had already made plans to come back next weekend, but this time we'd each get our own lasagna instead of share both dishes. With Italian food it's all about the sauce, which was outstanding, but with each bite, it got better, and when you think that can't happen anymore, you cut into the egg yolk and oozes out into each bite...pure heaven. The carbonara was ok, buttery, cheesy, garlicky goodness. I liked it a lot but wasn't in love, felt like something was missing. Or maybe to be fair I was all about the lasagne I didn't give it a fair chance. But I accidentally dropped a rigatoni in the lasagna plate and ended up enjoying it more that way with the sauce. The staff were all super duper attentive and sweet and just as we're feeling the love, the manager/maybe owner? Walked around and handed us and other customers chocolate chip cookies! Let's start with.. it's owned by a real Italian. The decor on the inside is all Italian influenced, they do have American wines as well as Italian choices and the menu combines the best of both. Wickedly good deviled eggs if your deviled eggs fan. The best Cortada I have ever had in my life and they have a milk. A real espresso machine Italian of course. The concept of ordering your food outside and then having it delivered to your table is very unique, you get to pick where you sit, you can sit outside under umbrellas and picnic tables or you can come inside and there are booths to sit in if you prefer. Real Italian flavor, a friendly, and service oriented staff, the dressing on the salad is homemade and the best I think I have ever had. And they have gluten-free options. So they should be able to take care of you no matter what your food choices may be. read more

From the moment we walked up to the podium to inquire about wait times, we were greeted with the warmest welcome and seated immediately. We were invited to sit at the hosts dad's table, and obviously the best table setting in the house-my daughters felt honored to sit there! Our server was Miguel and he offered exceptional service, was kind and very attentive to me and my daughters, always with a smile and made sure we were comfortable and patiently answered all our questions about the menu. Our meals were beautifully plated, and everything was delicious. I had the poblano omelette, very tasty and filling. Came down to Santa Barbara to celebrate mine and my boyfriends bday. On our way back we decided to stay the night in downtown Ventura. We ended up coming for brunch. This place totally DID NOT disappoint! This was a good choice to go to after being stuck in my quarantine bubble for over a year. Met up with girls for breakfast Sunday morning. They had the line out the door in the middle of (Downtown) Main Street, but the line was moving quickly. Due to Covid, they are having people wait in line, and when a table is avail, you go up to the counter, place your order and then get seated. The hosts were friendly and walking the line to pass out menus and give you the schpiel of the menu and greet you. Indoor seating was available, as well as in the indoor (semi-enclosed) patio area. Again, because of Covid, picnic benches on risers were set up for a more safe, outdoor dining sitch. They have their system down. Once we got seated, the waitstaff instantly greeted us, took our order, and in a minute our drinks were served. Awesome mimosas for the WIN! I highly suggest the pineapple mimosa. No more than 10-15 minutes later our food was served and the presentation was ON POINT. I had the eggs Benedict. Totally delicious, a great light start for the day. The staff were the best. Continuously came to greet us and tend to our beverages and water refills. I believe the owners were circulating tables that morning welcoming people and checking in service too. I can't wait to bring my family there to try the rest of the delicious eats on the menu! read more

Blown away by the quality of the food and great customer service. I heard great things about this place and it's always nice to be impressed even after having higher than usual expectations. Every plate all tasted great! I have always wondered what it would be like to eat pasta for breakfast and the Breakfast Carbonara knocked it out of the park. It had what I wanted: pancetta, a delicious sauce with butter and garlic, with a bit of egg. Melt in your mouth good. It will be hard for me to try anything else after having this one! My wife had the croissant which is freshly baked and that just delicious! Gooey cheese and egg on a fresh croissant? What more can you ask for! We washed it down with a Vanilla Latte and that was also very tasty. Perfect balance of coffee and sweetness. That meal was more than enough to fill me. But my curiosity demanded that I try one of my favorite breakfast items: buttermilk pancakes! And with no surprise, they delivered! Light, fluffy, and a hint of sweetness to them, I at my half quickly and without stopping ha ha ha ha. They were a perfect dessert to end the meal. Also didn't mention that the fruit and strawberry jam were of high quality. Honestly, everything we had was so good!! One thing that is often overlooked is the customer service and I am happy to say that everyone that we encountered was friendly and happy to help. DEEE-LIGHTFULLY DELICIOUS MORSELS on Main Street Ventura! Pretty impressive 5* yelp rating for our neck of the woods, too! Let's say we check out the goods here, shall we? In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Ventura has reorganized downtown Main Street traffic flow, to help all the small businesses lined up here. Immigrant has taken advantage of this opportunity and set up a sweet outdoor dining area that allows for safe distancing while eating. There's even big umbrellas to protect against the Gold Coast sun during the day, UNLESS it's windy (watch out for those Santa Ana winds!!). Masks required, hand sanitizer readily available. Alessandro, Noel, & Jody are the owners, and are wonderfully pleasant, friendly, and helpful. We did brekkie on Saturday and the wait wasn't too bad (35 min today, 12:30p) even though this eatery was hopping! It's counter service so once they call your name, be ready to order! Off to our assigned table and a surprisingly short wait to get our food. Oh yeah, LET'S EAT! BACON FLIGHT: If you are working that KETO diet, this is the perfect appetizer for you! 5 flavors: smoked applewood, jalapeño, pancetta, Parmesan & Garlic, and Honey sesame. All pretty tasty, but I think our faves were jalapeño and the parm garlic options. BUTTERMILK WAFFLE: Perfectly light, crispy yet fluffy waffle. So SO GOOD! Added blueberries to top it off and they provided a nice dollop to evenly distribute it all over the waffle. If you enjoy waffles like me, this is a solid option! PARMESAN POLENTA: Wifey's choice! This cornmeal dish was smooth with a nice texture, almost similar to grits, but thicker, and not grainy at all. Added a poached egg and sautéed garlic shrimp to enhance the dish. The egg was oozy liked she liked it and the shrimps were large, plump & juicy, with a sense of garlic. She'd definitely get that again. B.L.T.C: Served on a croissant, sammie was smple, but completely enjoyed by my Light Eater son! Nothing left so I didn't get to sample the creation unfortunately. Based on what I saw, he savored every bite by the speed at which he devoured it! lol CROISSANT SANDWICH: Our youngest's choice for breakfast today, scrambled eggs and Brie cheese on a toasted HOMEMADE croissant. Added prosciutto cotto because he has to have ham on everything! Big sandwich, typically he devours these from Jack in the Box but he met his match here. He did happily admit that this was WAAAY better ;) WEEKLY SPECIAL: HOMEMADE FOCACCIA BOWL with BOLOGNESE. THIS here... was DELICIOUS! We topped it with a Burrata cheese ball, which gave this a much more creamier texture. The bread bowl was light and fluffy, and really easy to cut/pull apart. Add to it, an AMPLE portion of sauce and pasta, and it makes for a really satisfying dish! This family recipe bolognese... I WANT the recipe!!! GIOVANNI OMELETTE: Big boy's choice. Within the large sized omelette was Prosciutto cotto, diced pancetta, sautéed onions, garlic, Brie and added mushrooms. His only complaint was that he didn't taste the garlic, but that didn't stop him from inhaling it! He still gave it a thumbs up and the "rub my tummy satisfied" sign! EASY RECOMMENDATION! Service is really QUICK, yet the eats here are prepared with such skill and precision that there is definitely no compromise in flavorful impact! The 5* rating is well deserved imho.
