My friend and I recently moved out of our fully furnished home with way too much stuff (it's me, I'll admit it) into a 2 bedroom apartment. Dennis and Tim were great on communicating their arrival and worked very meticulously to wrap all of our items or re-wrap what we did to ensure secure transportation and no damage to any of our items. They have a 3 hour minimum and we definitely needed that and more. I've moved a lot and have used cheaper movers or even faster movers but what I appreciated from Dennis and Tim were the level of care. I had an extremely awful experience with Impel moving today. They are the slowest movers I have ever hired. I have moved 7 times in SF and this is the first time that it took them over 7 hrs to move me, it was unbelievable how slow they were. All these reviews are fake. I also fell for them and they turned out to be pretty bad. My apartment is 500 sqft and I was slammed a bill of over 1000 dollars with extra packing materials I didn't even ask for. Obviously I tipped lesser and the movers freaked out and they didn't see their own fault. Horrible horrible experience and this is after yesterday when they were supposed to show up at 2 and they told me at 3 that they would arrive at 4. Please save yourselves read more

Honestly guys, if you are moving, use Impel! These guys were super professional, quite fast, and took care to help me move on a scorching hot day. I was quoted $1200 to move by the first moving company I called despite having mainly only boxes and no large furniture or other items. These guys helped me move my old furniture to the curb for trash pick up and moved all my boxes on a ninety plus degree day in under 3 hours, for a whopping $420. I saved $800 by calling around. Had a team of 3 come and help us move from our 2 bedroom apartment to a new place and it look only 3.5 hours (albeit we had a few things we didn't have them take/we moved ourselves prior to them coming). Nonetheless, we were super impressed at how quickly they moved! As a comparison, two years ago, we had different movers (a pair of guys) who did our move in 7 hours and we had significantly less furniture/items than we did back then! You can imagine our joy in seeing that they were done before 1pm and that we actually had time for the rest of the day to unpack/get things sorted. Loved moving with Impel! Hired them to help with a move from a 2-bedroom to a home 30 minutes away and they were amazing. Starting off with clear communication and upfront pricing without hidden costs, everything exceeded expectations! The movers were punctual, organized and really efficient yet detailed with what they do. You could see the team was striving to move us as quickly as possible but still took care with all the items. The three movers barely paused a minute to rest on the clock during our 6-hour long move. When they did take a break for lunch it was off the clock, I appreciated their professionalism with this. Max & Emil helped me move 1 bedroom locally within San Francisco and did a great job! They supplied boxes, were very careful with fragile items, and even fixed a leg on a piece of furniture for me upon arrival to my new spot! They were personable, friendly, helpful, and clearly skilled and I would recommend Impel to anyone. We had some challenges early on with parking (in San Francisco) but Max got creative. Because they had to park a bit farther away than we both would have liked, the move took a little bit longer than I would have liked but better safe than sorry! I had a slight misunderstanding about scheduling but Dennis was able to schedule a team same day to help me with my move from SF to Napa. Max and a helper came and was able to move all my furniture in 2.5 hours! They wrapped everything up diligently and moved through my confusing building maze with ease. Just moved over the weekend with the great help from Impel Moving! All I can say is that they are top notch movers and I would definitely have them move us next time. My wife was very skeptical of hiring movers b/c friends have told her that some movers take their time. Impel doesn't! They are fast and efficient!! They were quick to respond on Yelp messages and were clear about what they offer. As for the moving team 5 STARS!! Tim was their lead along with 3 other guys. They were super courteous. They looked at what we needed to take and they started right away. Most of our furniture was wrapped in moving blankets and plastic wrap. They really took care of our furniture and we were so pleased. The last time we moved, our movers broke our TV Stand. This won't happen with Impel! They also used what look like a new moving truck. Impel are great and friendly people with great rates. Overall, my move went off well, even with some challenges from the building- and they were very responsive and exceptionally timely. I also love that they were technology forward for things like timing the move, checking in, etc. The 2 things that keep me from going to a full 5 stars is first that they don't offer a buy up for full insurance (and are not listed on a marketplace to even buy it through a 3rd party), and secondly the way they pack ends up costing more for going into storage. Full Insurance: I won't know what's broken until we move it to its new home- but we already saw a glass cabinet break, so I know I'm going to come out on the losing side. Way they pack: Moves place to place are likely fine- but for my items going into storage, they used large / wardrobe boxes to move lots of smaller items... then at the end of the move said they needed those boxes back?! So, they would have to keep the labor rate going and unbox what they just boxed, rebox everything, then charge me for the newly filled boxes (or pay 4x the large box cost for the wardrobe boxes they'd used). This ended up with me paying for some wardrobe boxes, and a chunk of items l are just sitting on the floor of my storage unit... that I now need to go and box up. read more

The guys were great at carefully wrapping and moving my furniture, but the best part was that they then loaded my pod *beautifully* it was like magical tetris pieces. they took great advantage of the space and secured everything so it would not move (i provided the straps). Highly recommend! Dave was very responsive and made it easy to coordinate our multi-stop move from San Francisco to San Diego. His team did an excellent job packing all of our belongings and protecting our furniture. Unloading was just as easy. The crew unwrapped and setup our furniture exactly where we wanted it and took away any boxes we were able to unpack before they finished. The estimate on the packing materials was lower than the actual final price, however, the total cost was still less than a competitor so I was happy to pay for it. read more
