We had A LOT to pack and move - family of 4 and three bedrooms! Paul led a 3-person team for my 2-bedroom apartment move. I was very happy with their work! It was my first time hiring movers and Paul made things effortless with great communication about details to understand my preferences. Everyone worked tirelessly to get the move done in a short 3.5 hours, even with stairs at the new location. The rates were competitive and he even accounted for his breaktime / downtime in the calculations for the total hours. The reviews are true. This moving company is hands down the most professional and trustworthy team that I've ever worked with for a move (we've moved 3x in the last 8 years). First, no hidden fees -- it was exactly as we estimated calculated hourly, no travel fees, clear on boxes/equipment used, clear on break time, and when we added in 3 appliances, they offered a reasonable on the spot compromise cost even though the washer and dryer required extra work. Secondly, the third appliance was a stove, which I didn't tell them about in advance, and it turns out is way too heavy for two movers to move solo (which is what we booked). Max somehow found a way to make it work, but we appreciated that he was super transparent and honest about why it might take a second day and 3 movers given the weight and special truck lift required. In the end, they somehow made it work and we got all 3 appliances in -- which essentially saved us booking 3 movers for another day. The team also efficiently but carefully unwrapped everything, and placed everything in its right place, even with my mom fussing about where to put things. When looking for movers, Impel stood out because they were super responsive with getting what I needed even during the holidays. They were also really flexible when I had to keep rescheduling my move. They made me feel very at ease as I was scheduling my move. The two movers I got, Rodion and Alex, were really great! They needed very little direction from me but were really good about asking questions when they needed to. They packed things very quickly and safely, and loaded and unloaded the truck very efficiently. When unloading into the new space, they were very flexible with a few rules the building had. They disassembled and assembled the furniture very well, and maneuvered the furniture into the right places very well. The movers were uniformly friendly, respectful of my stuff, and efficient. Dennis, the owner, did a walk-through of my apartment via FaceTime and gave me an accurate quote that was a couple hundred dollars lower than the other three places I called. We moved four times in the past four years, two of which were across country. We hired a very well-known moving company while moving across country and had a nightmare experience. That being said, we were very scared and very skeptical. We received quotes and spoke to numerous companies in the Bay Area, also, including some very popular ones. We chose impel moving because they were the few that did an in person quote, and also had one of the best values. They arrived a little late, but was moving on a pretty heavy rain day. They got to work very quickly and moved everything in our two bedroom apartment in the rain in record time. Three guys took four hours, and we had a considerable amount of stuff since we are a family of four. They even unmounted a 65" TV and dismantled our complicated furniture with little to no assistance. Obviously these guys knew what they were doing and very professional. They were also communicative throughout the entire process. When they arrived at the destination, they did a fantastic job of organizing, and putting away our stuff in a tiny garage since it was a garage that was also functional, there had to be a pathway through the garage. they were able to pack everything meticulously with nothing damaged and even took photos of the finished product. They were calm, quiet and efficient. The price also was hard to beat, everywhere else quoted two times what they did (at least). For the value they went above and beyond, what you would expect from a concierge moving company. 115% will be hiring them again when we move out of storage. read more
