I did not use their services but after what I saw today I would not. Saw one of their trucks in SF blocking the driveway to a complex on Mason for over half an hour. Residents were unable to enter the garage. AN older woman needed to leave and had to have passers-by direct her to drive on the sidewalk and off the curb at the next driveway up. When the driver came back to the truck he unapologetically told the resident who had been waiting that there was no sign, so he parked there. The guy told him he should leave a note with his number on it, the driver just shrugged it off. Another man then talked to him in a very animated fashion. I couldn't hear it, but in response the Impel driver locked the truck and went back inside the complex, refusing to move for the resident still waiting on the street. Several of us called SFPD, but with Pride events and everything they were not responsive. read more

We appreciated them providing wardrobe boxes so we could easily pack our hanging clothes. They were flexible to do as much or as little as we needed; we preferred having them carry the bulky pieces while we took care of boxes and others so we could save a little money overall. read more

Wow, I'm surprised so many reviews are "not recommended." Honestly, my review will echo the numerous positives all the others have already stated and I really hope Yelp doesn't hide mine as well cause these guys work hard and have a great attitude! And most importantly, they get the job done! (Btw, their license is the same as Bay Area Efficient Movers who have awesome reviews, many of which mention Dennis. Check them out in case you're worried like I was about hiring movers with only 1 review.) ______ Dennis is kind, responsive, and does an excellent job with his team on moving day (Max, and another gentleman I didn't catch the name of). They hustle, they are polite, they are conscientious of not letting our cat escape outside, and they are strategic; even when I worried that they had forgotten about another furniture piece in the bathroom (where our cat was waiting while the rest of the move happened), when I reminded Dennis since I was worried the truck might be too full, he assured me that they hadn't forgotten and were just waiting to finish everything else before we had to move our cat to a different room. I was also probably a little too nervous/careful about my kitchen dishes as we decided to pack most of the smaller, breakable items ourselves, but looking back on how things went, it probably would've saved us time and money (and they would've done a better job of it) to let Dennis and team handle these instead of painstakingly transferring my entire kitchen into boxes while they were moving everything else. In reality, I believe my "self-packing" ended up slowing them down. I say this bc when it turned out we needed to move stuff out of our dressers to make them less heavy, these guys were FAST and efficient at getting the contents into boxes and the dresser wrapped up and ready to go. (It would've taken me like 20-30 min to organize and put everything into a box.) They were also very kind to my toddler who we tried to keep with a babysitter, but who was often in the way at the new house, and they were amazing with their dolly technique up and down many stairs; no banging or sudden gravity-forced movements, just expert leverage and resistance to make sure boxes and furniture were smoothly transported (I mean that literally). The only ding I would I say is that the third gentleman didn't speak or know much English; unfortunately, this meant that some boxes were left in random places (I don't think he could read or understand the rooms we labeled on them) and I also think if you have any particularly challenging pieces of furniture to disassemble/reassemble, you'll save a lot of time and money if you do that part yourself (considering that you probably already know how to put that furniture together). In the end though, we were grateful for all of their help, we had a TON of stuff considering the size of our space, and they were the only company we called that included unlimited moving boxes and packing materials in their very reasonable rate. I definitely hope to work with Dennis and team again! ________ Our move details: - 2BR/1BA with ~40 boxes - Lots of IKEA items, but several nicer items too (recliners, sofas, mirrors, TV) - We moved on a Monday (weekdays are cheaper) - Started at 9:15am. Finished loading around 1:30-2pm. (Would've likely been 12:15 if everything was boxed and ready to go.) Unloaded from 3:15-7:15pm, though the last 1.5 hours were mostly troubleshooting the assembly of a bed and large dresser. - We could've probably loaded everything within 3 hours had we been fully packed and beds already disassembled. Unfortunately, we had at least 10-15 larger boxes worth of stuff that they had to pack for us and very narrow hallways which required careful maneuvering. - We also rented a UHaul and drove over our plants and more odd shaped items the day before, in addition to freezer items which did save a lot of time and effort on move day. Knowing what I know now, I'd have done all fridge contents a day ahead and/or try to eat everything in there so there's not much to move. - Also in the future, not taking anything away from Dennis and team, I would've called it a day at 5:15pm (8 hours including drive time and lunch break). They were exhausted, we were exhausted, and things just slow down a lot when you're physically tired. (They were NOT slow at all about moving things up and down the stairs into our new home, but you could just feel the tiredness at the end of the day. I would've preferred that they could leave at a more reasonable hour to grab dinner, shower, and relax; the assembly of our bed and taking off saran wrap on our boxes and furniture, we could've done on our own.) _________ This was our first professionally hired movers and Dennis and team did not disappoint. This was our first time using a moving company, and Dennis and his team made it a great experience. First of all, we were moving out of a small apartment in downtown San Francisco on a narrow neighborhood street on a weekday. I was worried that a big moving van would cause traffic issues, but Impel has experienced drivers who know that exactly how to maneuver large trucks on a busy street. They had a very efficient two man team and wore masks throughout the whole process which made me feel safe. They even had extra boxes and packing tape for me to use which was great since I was still packing some things while they were moving boxes and I happened to run out of tape and boxes. When we got to our new home, they helped us rebuild our larger furniture like our bed and rolled out floor protection where necessary so as not to damage flooring. Looking around on Yelp, I saw that Impel was new on the scene but already had great reviews and decided to give them a try. Our experience was excellent all around! Dennis was very easy to communicate with via text and email. He sent a handy tip sheet for packing (listen when it says don't mix packing things from different rooms!) along with the confirmation email. Pricing was reasonable and transparent (no random charges for extra stairs, etc.). They were punctual, professional, and packed and moved everything with care, as if they were their own. My husband and I were so stressed about moving during Covid times. We did not want to have our extended family all come together to help move because we knew it would be a risk. Impel moving came to the rescue! Dennis and Tim were exactly on time, easy to communicate with, and observed covid protocol the entire time with face masks. They were able to strategize about how to fit all of our belongings into the truck with little direction from us (we didn't know what we were doing), and even wrapped up all of our furniture quite well with blankets and clear wrap so that there were zero scuffs or indication that we had moved at all. Furthermore, our bedroom set and kitchen table required disassembly and reassembly. Dennis and Tim planned out everything, packed up the items we did not have time to get through, and even hung our clothing from a closet we forgot about in wardrobe boxes. When they reassembled all of our furniture in the new location, you couldn't even tell that we had moved at all. I would highly recommend using Impel moving again - they were very professional, very quick, and we will use them moving forward for any of our moving needs. Had a great experience with Impel from early phone calls for finding the right movers to the post move follow up. I had many questions and checks before I booked a company since I have had great previous experience. They were quick with responses and spent tons of time on the phone with me prior to the move. They were flexible without any penalty costs incase my plans changed since that was a potential I was worried about. The movers were prompt and I received notifications ahead of time when they'd arrive. Rodion and Alex were our movers and they were so great. Helpful and communicative throughout the entire process. We were worried not everything would fit but they maneuvered things and made it work. I'd recommend these guys 100%. There was only one thing damaged at the end of it all which was a cheap lamp I had that was on its last leg anyway - so I wasn't surprised about that. This was the least stressful move I ever had. They were very quick in responding when asking for a quote, showed up on time on the day of the move. They were careful with handling our belongings. Furniture got wrapped in blankets, dishes all individually wrapped in paper. One piece of furniture we had was a storage bed which was heavy and bulky.
