In-N-Out was a must visit while in TX. So we ventured over to get some food. We ordered a Double Cheeseburger meal and a Cheeseburger meal. I'm kind of bummed there aren't any other options as we had to go to another food place to feed our third person. Nonetheless, we ordered our food, and it was served relatively quickly, even being in lunch hour. The presentation was very nice. The flavors were great. I asked for extra In-N-Out sauce for the fries, and my little enjoyed some as well. There is seating inside and outside. Large parking lot and a drive-thru for convenience. The staff was super nice. Someone gave it one shake too many. All is forgiven because it was still delicious, and I remain blown away by In-N-Out's consistency across cities and states. I could tell it was ultra fresh. The meat and cheese was piping hot like a crabby pattie and the lettuce and tomato was so cold, making the ultimate balance. Goodness. I'm not always proud to be an American, but this was a solid moment for the books. It's the fries I can't get past. They always taste dry to me. Like dehydrated potatoes. I've tried them well done, with cheese, and animal style. I can never finish them and that says a lot coming from someone who will eat a potato in any form but raw. I stopped getting them altogether now whenever I stop in for a burger. I do like their Flying Dutchman item from the secret menu. It's a great low carb option that consists of two slices of cheese sandwiched between two burger patties. Get them with grilled onions and spread sauce on the side and it's even better. The protein style is also tasty. It's a lettuce wrapped burger with all the fixings and is very filling. If I had to choose between In-N-Out or Whataburger it's going to be WB hands down. Their burgers are bigger and tastier and there's more variety to choose from. Milkshake? Sonic has them beat with their ten thousands flavors. Fries? Any other fast food chain has better fries. I will say the staff at both In-N-Out locations I go to are extremely nice. Came here the other day, the food was great as usual, apart from the fries they always suck. The cashier was very cheeky though, I ordered my usual for my husband and I - two burgers, an order of fries and a shake. I then asked for a water cup and she gave me a regular soda cup. Decided to give In-N-Out a second chance. My original review gave them a mere 2 stars and I feel like I should give them another star. Here's why: I've never been able to figure out the love this place gets. But I think I have worked it out. I'm comparing it to the wrong places. If you just look at franchise places, Wendy's McDonald's, Burger King, or places like that then yes, In-N-Out crushes those kinds of places. I still don't think they can hold a candle to a Kincaid's or a Burger Street of course. But those are local businesses and they are offering a different experience. So anyway, I stopped by the closest In-N-Out after a doctor's appointment the other day. I decided to eat in rather than just hit the drive-thru this time and it was much nicer that way. I tried a double-double and got some sauteed onion added. This burger was enjoyable. Much more so than the first time I tried them, hence the adding of a star. I also appreciate that this place employs some enthusiastic and friendly folks. The man who took my order was so charming, so upbeat and eager to help that his positive attitude was infectious and it made the whole experience better. This set the stage for the rest of my experience. I ordered my items including items from their not do secret menu. They understood what I wanted and repeated what I ordered correctly the first time. I drove to the first window to pay and I was again greeted with a friendly voice. She started off repeating my order before I gave her my card to pay. Drove to the next window where I had to wait for awhile since they prepare everything to order. Here again I was greeted by a young man. The first time I entered this place I was picking up lunch for a friend. I had never been to In-N-Out having been raised in Houston (if it ain't tacos you're screwed). I was impressed with the staff and the Keep It Simple Stupid menu. It was like they were saying "No you cannot have a taquito, or an egg on a bun, we DO HAMBURGERS!!" and I like that. They do one thing, they do it well, and the do it inexpensively. (They also manage to start their employees out at like $13 an hour...listen up tightwads!!!) My combo meal comes out quickly, Nice fries, Nice sweet tea but brother can you spare a patty? The meat patty was on the small side true but what was served to me was pretty legit.
