I'm not sure how much they are paying for those overly marketing sounding reviews, but we just ate there and did not have a stellar experience. Slow service, cold or inconsistent food, and gummy arroz con pollo. My family of six tried five different appetizers and two different mains, and the best parts were the plantains, the yucca fries, and the beef empanadas. The beef heart, arroz con pollo, papas huancainas, and chicharron were all of poor quality. It's a shame because I thought I'd be introducing my mom, sister, and niece to real Peruvian cuisine, and this was just not a good example. Won't be back. Based on Yelp reviews, and at my friend's selection for her birthday dinner, we decided to try Inca Social. We made a reservation but honestly didn't need it - there were maybe 10-12 people there at 6:15pm on a Monday night. Décor was trendy, modern but with authentic Peruvian touches in colors, textiles, art. I loved the kitschy big llama by the hostess stand, and little white ceramic llamas on the tables (see pic). Another first impression when we walked in, I didn't see a lot of traditional dinner tables (mostly high tops, so it seemed more "bar" than "restaurant"), but we were seated at a table in the corner that was lovely. We got there early to take advantage of some Happy Hour specials. We each tried the Chica Rum cocktail for $6, which was tasty, sweet but well balanced with a hint of cinnamon despite the berry flavor profile of the drink. We also ordered the Inca Balls (we got one cheese, two ground beef so we could try both varieties) for $6. My friend liked the ground beef ones better, which was surprising since we're both cheese fiends. Although not a HH special, we ordered the Taqueños appetizer because, well, deep fried cheese with an avocado sauce!? Yes please! For entrées, my friend had the Pescado a lo Macho based on our server Darwin's rec. She said it was very delicious and flavorful, all of the shellfish in the dish tasted fresh and well-prepared. I ordered the Picante de Camaron because I had a hankering for some shrimp but was too hungry to just go for the ceviche (even tho I do love a good ceviche!) The Picante de Camaron had a flavorful rich creamy sauce to it, a side of rice, decently sized shrimp and a good portion, and a few slices of potatoes mixed in. I practically licked the plate clean. With dinner, based on fellow Yelper recs, I tried the Passionfruit Pisco Sour cocktail. OMG that was delightful! I've traveled to Peru and had a pisco sour in nearly every town we visited, and this drink was legit. The passionfruit made it really refreshing! It was definitely a craft cocktail in its preparation and presentation with its lovely swirl in the egg foam on top. I agree with the rave reviews! Don't miss it! So a lot of strong positives, but a few minor misses. Service started out great, very attentive. Timing with the kitchen could be tweaked a little. Our initial drinks arrived just a little slowly and came out the same time appetizers did. Eh, I could overlook that because I know we didn't order a simple beer or wine. But then entrees arrived maybe 5 mins after apps when we were still only halfway through them. Even if the kitchen got them out quickly, the servers or food runners should notice we weren't ready for them yet. There was no need to rush or turn over tables quickly on a quiet Mon night. After our first drinks, which went down very quickly and smoothly, we waited an awfully long time for our server to come back and ask if we were ok or needed refills. They were good refilling our water, but the food runners who brought the entrees out could have given our server a heads up or asked us themselves if we needed another beverage. Likewise, mid dinner we could have used another beverage offering. Whether alcoholic or not, I think the server missed out on a larger bill (and thus tip) had he been more attentive to our beverage needs. Lastly, it's about paying attention to the reservation. When I made the reservation on OpenTable, I indicated we were there to celebrate my friend's birthday. After dinner we waited a long time before our server returned to ask if we needed anything, despite the plates being cleared. We asked for a dessert menu, then my friend went to the restroom. I ordered the Tres Leches dessert for us to share, and was a bit surprised that it didn't come out with a birthday candle or a little HBD drizzled on the plate or something. We didn't need a big fuss with a bday song sung by the staff or anything, and I wasn't looking for a freebie dessert, but it would have been nice if they noted the occasion I clearly indicated on the reservation without me having to mention it. As for the Tres Leches dessert itself, it was very very good but I was surprised I didn't taste any hint of mango as advertised in the description. Regardless, it was very tasty and worth saving room for! Fun fact that we actually had to Google after visiting the ladies restroom: the oval mirrors have a tiny glowing circle in the mirror itself that we've never seen before. (See pic) We learned they're for dimming or illuminating a light behind the mirror itself. Very nifty! All in all, a very positive dining experience. No problems finding parking on a Monday night, interior wasn't too loud and we effortlessly held a conversation at regular speaking volume. We would definitely go back for lunch or dinner. This place is great! The decor style is very fresh and fun with lots of plants/flowers/trees and beautifully displays llamas and neon nazca lines along the walls. The menu is reasonably priced and they have a large variety of delicious Peruvian cuisines. For our appetizers we ordered the causa sampler, anticuchos de corazón, and a shot of leche de Tigre. Everything was amazing especially the anticuchos omg it tasted exactly as if you bought it off the street in Peru. For meals we ordered ceviche, chaufa aeropuerto, and a lomo saltado with papa la huancaina pasta. Everything was very very good and the food came out scary fast.. like less than 5 minutes. I got the chicken empanadas, the fried cheese sticks (forgot the name), & arroz con pollo & mango sour. The prices are on the higher side though, so I'll recommend if you have a celebration or looking for a spot to eat on a nice day!!! The decoration inside is also really nice, creates a nice energy. My dish was Lomo A La Huancaina and overall it wasn't a bad dish but the pasta was just just to cheesy for my liking it tasted somewhat like regular Mac n cheese with extra cheese but the steak in the dish was good so I would have to rate this dish a 3.7/5 making it a decent plate. I've only been 2 times and have ordered the empanadas twice I get the half & half (chicken & beef) and they're good + the sauces they put add more to the goodness. Also the food does taste like authentic Peruvian food. The service is fine and the food doesn't take too long to wait at all. The place is a nice looking place. Overall take: Would come back for the vibes and drinks but would not come back for the salty food. My friends and I have been wanting to try out this place for a while after seeing it on social media and Yelp. In my excitement, I went through Yelp to see what previous people had liked and recommended. The Chaufa aeropuerto was popular as well as the Inca balls. Food: Inca balls - we got 2 with cheese and 2 with the meat option. It was a classic fried ball taste and the meat one was more flavorful. They gave 2 sauces as accompaniment and the waiter remarked that the hot sauce was "super hot." We tried it and instantly did not like it as it is just super peppery with no flavor. The yellow sauce is much more flavorful - slightly sweet and mustardy but a good compliment. Chaufa aeropuerto: my friend said it was very bland despite it being made with soy sauce. She put in a ton of the yellow sauce from the Inca balls to make it more flavorful. Arroz con marisco: I was impressed with the amount of seafood! It was a great assortment! I wasn't sure if it would be like paella but it was definitely different as can be seen from the picture. My main complain was that it was too salty. The rice was too salty as well. I was slightly disappointed by the amount of salt. Previous reviews have also pointed out that their dishes were too salty as well. Linguine with beef: my friend had similar complaints of it being way too salty but overall would get it again. I would want to try this dish if I were to go back. Ambience: we went on a Friday night and it was extremely crowded - make sure to have a reservation!!! They have many instagram-worthy picture places including two swings near the entrance! The bar was also pretty! The music is super loud so we were practically yelling at each other across the table even though we were seated towards the back where it was calmer, so be mindful that you may not hear anything very well. read more

I love ceviche and the ceviche here is great! I've also tried their lomo saltado which I really like except when I tried it with their risotto. The risotto had a bit too much cheese and the rice was not a great texture. The rich cheese risotto with the soy sauce flavor of the lomo saltado wasn't a good pairing for me. However I also tried the inca balls and empanadas and they were pretty good as well. I'll be coming back for the ceviche and the LS without the risotto lol and also to try out their other foods :) read more

INCA Social is slowly becoming one of my favorite local restaurants. I've been here four times since they've opened and I've noticed that they have gotten steadily better over the last few months. At first, service seemed somewhat shaky. Slow response times, no smiles, etc. But I left that night leaning on the more optimistic side and tried to consider that this place just opened, let's give them a chance to work out the kinks first. So far, that seems to be the case because each time I go, they seem to get better and better. One thing I like about this place is that the waiters/waitresses always seem friendly an knowledgeable about the menu. They always recommend good options, but to be fair, I don't think you could go wrong either way. The other thing that I really like about this place is that they have a really good brunch. "Bottomless" mimosas for 2 hours which is more than enough time to enjoy your fill. You have to pay $15 per person for the mimosas, and VA law prevents serving "free" alcoholic beverages, so they have to charge for each refill... which to me doesn't really make much sense if we've already paid for... nvm. I'll look up the specifics later. But 25 cents wasn't much anyway. 4 mimosas in and you're already just a dollar in the whole. I think I have more than than stored away from lose change in my cars cup holder. I'll write more reviews on this in the future after trying more out at this place. But I would definitely recommend brunch here. So far, one of the better brunch options I've found in the Dunn Loring / Mosaic area in the last couple of years. read more

I came here with a couple of girlfriends last night and it was a very solid experience. Very festive decorations were displayed for the Halloween season. Our server was really attentive and offered great recommendations since it was our first time here. The cocktails were on point. Passion sour- not sour, on the sweet side. It was SO good. Will definitely order again. The little touches the bartender added were really cute. Beef Empanadas- $8- I can tell the kitchen really tried to make it look tasteful and artsy. The best-kept secret in Merrifield! INCA Social is located right by the Dunn Loring Metro. This restaurant serves Peruvian style dishes is a great place for parties and they have live music every Friday and Saturday night. My wife and I came in for an early brunch and we couldn't not have been more impressed. For drinks we tried the Purple Rain and Pineapple Mojito. For dishes we tried the chicken causa, Mosaic ceviche, arroz con pollo and the Lomo saltado. The portion sizes are huge so come hungry! Our waiter brought our food out to us quickly, correctly, was friendly and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Although new the staff has done a great job of taking care of the facility. At first we weren't sure what to expect, but we couldn't of been more impressed. I think I found my new favorite watering hole in Merrifield. We will definitely be back soon. However the "chicharonnes" wasn't skin, it was just deep fried meat. I mean, call it something else? The "chaufa" (Chinese influenced Peruvian fried rice) was good, but not great. The empanadas were meh. The ceviche was probably my favorite item with a nice liquor, yam, and hominy in it. Very unique! So for authenticity I would give this a 2.5 but I can't hate on the fact the food is good. The service was great except for one person who was a blonde women and said she was going to bring the correct order for my partner. And she never did correct the order. But shit happens! But seriously as a Peruvian, this is not authentic, the fact they are rolling on using "Inca" in the name was odd, as especially this is not food true to those who are of that specific background or who still claim that identity, no where near that region would this sort of food be eaten. BUT idk how important that is to others. For my family it was interesting, but places like these cater to their community And for that, they are doing a great job. They take specific dishes and try and do their own twist with them, great for those longing for a deep fulfillment of fried food and lots of cheese. My main issue was with their sauces. They seemed either watered down at some parts, or barely utilized the ingredients needed to give the true kicks and soul of the sauces. The huancaina, their take on a rocotta aji, it makes me extremely sad that this may be some peoples first experience with peruvian food. These sauces are missing something. It may be good food, it could hit the spot if you're hungry, but this is not our culture, they could do so much more. Maybe its the kitchen staff, maybe its their recipes, but what we all had that day, it just wasn't complete money. I don't want to be an ass and give it a low rating though, because most will enjoy the food, it just doesn't have the spirit of true Peruvian cuisine. They should add North American fusion in their name or info for sure. The empanadas were great! But they made them look like wontons and the dough was different. But good, with the aji amarillo sauce. The causa was very different, the potato base was missing something, but our North American friend enjoyed the deep fried goodness. The yuca they made was fun! But only good with the aji amarillo sauce, not their huancaina. The chicha morada is very basic, it lacks cinnamon and possibly not made with the right amount of pineapple, it lacked sweetness. They served dishes with ketchup, when it usually isn't paired well, but we are in Northern VA. They should try switching the sweet potato fries with just slices or the sweet potato, this is how we do it, and it is because it makes it easier when you place them in the sandwhich, which with pork chicharron is dank and the way to go. Their salsa criolla which for them seemed to be just onions is paired on the sandwhiches and were not the same. Also the most authentic peruvian item here seemed to be the inca kola which is bought. This place just keeps getting better and better! Their service, food presentation, & food quality have improved each time we come back. We came for a triple date the week that they opened, and service was not only slow, but we kept getting the wrong food delivered to our table. Drinks took awhile to arrive, and the presentation of our lomo saltado just seemed sloppy. The aji de gallino portion was also rather small. We came for drinks on Saint Patricks day and the drink and appetizer service was fast which was a great improvement! We came back for a friends birthday brunch and while service was a little slow, the food all came out delicious and the bloody mary bar was a highlight of brunch! We came for a date night last night and were blown away. Our server was very friendly, and even offered to bring samples of a few beers I was torn between. She was patient, checked in on us, and packaged our leftovers with some extra yellow sauce :) Not only that but our food portions seemed larger, and the presentation was beautiful. Ceviche de pescado was a beautiful presentation but someone had a heavy hand with the salt. I prefer my food salty but his was even too much for me. The pork CHICHARRÓN was too dry. I expected crispy skin with some pork attached of course. It was just pieces of pork that was very dry and tasteless. This dish actually needed salt but even after i added it, i couldn't finish it because it was just to dry. I may have to give it another try with different dishes. read more

There are a number of better restaurants serving this dish in the area. The linguine that came as a side option was nearly inedible. It was mushy and had an overly salty flavor. The Inca chicken should have cost about $10 as it was essentially a grain bowl with chicken thighs. This was the most decent dish we ordered, but really over priced. The food, drinks, and vibes bring the most comfort and love that Peruvian culture offers. The food was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The green sauce that comes is like CRACK. The dishes are well thought out and I appreciated that the food quality was above expectation. I did have quite a wait but found that sitting at the bar section was worth while and a great alternative to their cafeteria style seating. There is an option for everyone and may I add a GREAT place for big groups. The drinks are phenomenal!
