Most of the seating is outdoors, which could be tough on a sweltering Key West afternoon, but the interior is heavily themed and they did a fantastic job with the vibe. Yes, prices are a little high, but that's just Key West. The service, however, was great, and the food was exceptional. I ordered the Chuleta de Puerco, and it was genuinely some of the best pork I've ever had. All entrees come with your choice of white or yellow rice, beans, and another side, I went with the yuca. My girlfriend got the Bistec Palomilla medium rare, and they nailed the temperature perfectly. That's a thin piece of meat, so most places overcook it, but it was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Dessert was great, don't sleep on it. The Guava Bread Pudding was unlike anything I have ever had and the Tres Leches was perfect, moist without being overly sweet. To top it off, I had the best café con leche of my life. Here's where things took a turn: At the end of the meal, I poured a spoonful of the Tres Leches directly into my café con leche. The moment I took a sip, the table shifted. A warm energy entered my body, and before I knew what was happening, I was fully possessed by the ghost of Pepe himself. I blacked out completely and woke up in a hotel room three days later. According to a local newspaper clipping on the nightstand, I had somehow won a town-wide domino tournament and consumed enough rum to kill a small pirate crew. 10/10 food, service, and atmosphere. However, I am currently seeking a local exorcist. Pepe is still living inside me and refuses to leave until he gets another plate of yuca.

This is an area of tourism but we do live in Florida and have driven to the keys many times. This time we decided ti bring our family from out of town! What a disappointment this was! It was a party of 11 people. The majority Ordered the breaded fried chicken "Pollo empanisado" The chicken was overcooked but rubber like it seemed to me like when you take frozen chicken and try to defrost fast ... we left the chicken and ate the rice and black beans alone. The plantains were hard and cold . Just terrible! I love Cuban food and the "hole in the walls" are much better than this fancy all decorated beautifully!!! I take good tasty food cooked to perfection over the looks of a place. The manager said she took off two dinners off the bill but it was still over 300 dollars We will never come back here neither I can recommend this place to anyone at least the chicken and plantains. Not to mentioned I asked the food runner if he could pls bring us a few extra plates and an order of plantains on the side and this other rude man said" no!!! He can't do that he is the food runner tell the waitress " Really? It's that a good costumer service to you? You may go and judge this place for yourself and hoping this serves as a critique for them to focus on quality of food and good customer service. Thank you !

Our research told us that this would be a great meal and it truly was. I ordered the pork chunks, which were perfectly fried and so flavorful and tender on the inside. My wife ordered Ropa Vieja which was pulled beef, which wasn't as good, but still quite tasty. Had to bring food back home with us, which we ate for various snacks before we departed. Fast food and a nice hidden gem in the town. Glad we had this kick off our trip.

The restaurant is tucked away on a back street, far from the usual tourist spots, which adds to its charm. The food is authentic Cuban cuisine -- and I say that after decades of living in and around Hudson County, NJ, where the Cuban community is large and vibrant. At El Siboney, everything tastes fresh and homemade, with generous portions and prices that are refreshingly reasonable for Key West. This visit, I ordered the whole fried yellow snapper, served with yuca, yellow rice, and beans. My dinner companion had the Siboney skirt steak, one of the restaurant's popular dishes, served with a choice of sides. Both meals were excellent. Dessert was equally impressive: a delicious slice of tres leches cake and silky vanilla custard that were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Dinner for two, including dessert and tip, came to about $100 -- a great value for the quality and quantity of food. El Siboney remains one of my favorite places to eat in Key West.
