This place is so underrated. The vibe is old, rustic classic elegance. While Locanda and Piatti's may get more traffic this small establishment deliver amazing service and delicious food. Even on a dead night, the manager and server both showed me attentiveness. The arugula salad while simple to make is always a hit. I even make it at home or at least as close as I can get to it. Their pasta selection is both traditional and varied. Pasta always al dente and the sauces full of flavor. They didn't skimp on the shrimp either. Antonio is the man! Surprised I haven't reviewed Incontro yet! It's a hidden gem in downtown Danville. The patio is by far my favorite of any restaurant in the local area, and now that the weather is warming up it's my favorite spot for a late afternoon drink with friends. Although, it is fun to sit by the outdoor fireplace on a cold night with a good drink! The food is consistently good; I wouldn't call it "amazing" or creative, but it's consistent and it's good, and that in itself can be considered amazing for a restaurant ;) What stands out more than the food are the drinks- this is typically where I recommend for a night cap or meeting for a drink with friends. The ambiance is cozy, and the patio has fun people watching. The service is always attentive, which has become a lost art in such a tough hiring market-- they are doing something right to have such great talent, with a few waiters I've recognized for the last three plus years. On the latest visit, I was impressed with how attentive and aware the manager was- the restaurant is cozy and intimate, but very spread out with multiple rooms and a multi-level patio that wraps the building. She knew exactly what was happening at each table, and how to better everyone's experience. Impressive, kudos! We had a 7 pm dinner reservation a couple weekends ago. It was our first time trying this restaurant and also visiting Danville. The street parking was all filled up by the restaurant so we turned to the back side of the block where we found a small lot for the restaurant and a much bigger parking lot across the street. The restaurant was filled and busy for dinner. We were quickly seated at a table against the wall. The ambiance and look of the restaurant is quite nice. Each table seems to have little coat rack stands for hanging jackets and purses; a nice touch that I don't often see. The service was overall great our waiter explained the specials and gave us time to look through the menu. We were given a bread basket, standard - nothing astonishing. We ordered 3 items: Truffle Fries, the Gemelli, and Mostaccioli. The Truffle Fries were reminiscent of those at fast food restaurants, but the truffle flavor made it unique and a nice appetizer. We didn't wait too long for our pastas to arrive. The Gemelli was hearty and filling but the Mostaccioli was the most memorable. The Gemelli features lamb sugo which was flavorful and soft. Our favorite was the Mostaccioli because of the cream sauce. It was super flavorful and was much more unique than the Gemelli. Overall the service was wonderful and the portion sizes are great for how reasonably priced everything is. read more

Most of downtown Danville lost power on the 4th of July. A few places we approached said they were closed due to power loss. Hubby walked up and asked the bunch of 3-4 idle worker guys standing outside if they were opened. They gave us the most stank look ever and ignored us and seemed to think it was funny. I was about to say something to them when a girl at the host stand welcomed us in. It was HOT out so it was nice to sit inside with the AC. They had a special 4th of July brunch menu but we couldn't order from their regular menu, so boo. -fritto misto: (5/5) portion was generous and good for us 4. Great flavors on the calamari , shrimp, and veggies. -hartz salad with chicken (3/5) Chicken breast had good flavor, good portion but it was dry. The salad was very good. The service was very good. All of our selection of foods we ordered was excellent. For an appetizer, we ordered the Truffle Fries. The Potatoes, Parmigiano cheese and truffle oil gave a very earthy flavorful starter. For dinner, I ordered the Shrimp alla Griglia which consist of grilled shrimp with fregola pasta, garlic zucchini, lemon and parsley. It was the first time I had fregola pasta, which looked like risotto. It was very good. The overall flavor was savory and authentically Italian. The House made Lasagne consisted of lasagna cooked in a beef ragu, bechamel, with and mozzarella. Very tasty and flavorful. Another selection we ordered was the Pappardelle Al Pesto. The pappardelle was covered with house made creamy pesto and shrimp. Another excellent dish to order. Fresh house made bread is served with your meal. The bread is excellent too. Antonio (and his assistant--sorry I didn't catch his name) provided exceptional service throughout the evening. Came here for the Mother's Day Brunch. We had reservations at 12pm and were seated very quickly. It wasn't too busy inside the restaurant so it was nice not to feel rushed through our meal. They were offering a 3-course brunch menu. I had the wedge salad, Halibut, and Nutella Crème Brûlée. I have 4 stars for the food as I wasn't a fan of the saffron risotto. Halibut was delicious. Nutella Crème Brûlée was ok. Staff was very friendly and give them 5 stars. They had a live musician, but being inside we weren't really able to hear or enjoy the nice day. I decided to spot light this absolutely gorgeous restaurant. The dude and I walked right by it the day before we dined here and I fell in love with the outdoor patio, the welcoming vibes, the 4th of July decorations and overall princess place plus do I have to say ITALIAN CUISINE was totally up my Princess alley. I decided to make a reservation for 7/04/21 on 4th of July surprisingly there were so many openings around 6pm! Yay! We easily found parking. We recommend park at The Supermarket Lunardis nearby - free! Plenty of parking. We arrived exactly at 6pm and was seated up the stairs kinda like on someone's beautiful front porch. It was pretty empty when we came and we seriously had the whole deck to ourselves for the whole hour -SPOILED- I can get use to that. Anyways, it took a while for our server to get to us...the dude and I just took in the atmosphere and observing Danville at its finest. The owner maybe manager? (I apologize sir) took our drink order. I got the Strawberry Lemon Drop it was pretty tasty but I thought it is to come in a Martini glass? Still good - 7/10 would recommend if you are not feeling wine. Our sever bought us bread...bread and the table was pre set with Oil and Balsamic vinegar. I hate that I am gluten intolerant as I cannot eat a lot of bread (as long as it's sour dough this bread wasn't) so I did have to watch my intake! The bread was probably my favorite item here 8/10 as they didn't toast it. Toasting it would have changed from good to great! It was still good paired with the oil and vinegar. Sooooo Yummy!! We ordered our food which I really wanted the chicken Marsala plate but the dude and I compromise. I would get a pasta dish and he would get the Chicken Marsala. Let me tell you!!! Best Chicken Marsala I had 9.98/10, chicken was tender and juicy, the sauce was bomb dot com! Rich and flavorful, mash potatoes were well seasoned and creamy, the spinach was paired perfectly. Super tasty dish! The dude and I LOVED it!! My dish on the other hand was piping hot (huge plus) but needed more flavor compared to the Rich Marsala so I was underwhelmed 7/10 not the best, not the worse either! It presents a lovely picture but didn't live up to my princess expectations. My pasta wasn't gluten free (they offered it to me! Yay!) the only kind they had was Penne and I wasn't in the mood for that on the 4th. Absolutely a wonderful dining experience and I highly recommend this town jewel. Everything from the perfection of service, to the lovely atmosphere is enticing. We enjoyed brunch for Mother's Day and the pace and timing of the offerings were perfect. For staters, we had the Caprese which was so very fresh with perfect tomatoes and a mild rich and delish burrata. I had the very moist and delicious chicken chicken with creamy perfect mashed potatoes and crisp fresh green beans for my entree. Hubby had the amazing ravioli which he describes as melt-in-your mouth amazing. I recommend requesting some bread to gather all of the beautifully prepared sauce left. My FIL had the amazing crab Benedict. Wow!!my MIL raved about the perfectly cooked halibut! We all tried MIL's risotto which was creamy and nice with a heavier saffron and lemon note. I forgot to mention the CAFE LATTE WAS OUTSTANDING! We all enjoyed our coffees in fact and I wish that I would have asked what type of coffee and espresso they provide. I have been to Incontro around 6 times and I always leave with 3 stars in mind, meaning that it's not bad, but also not memorable. The ambience is nice (I like dining in restaurants that once were homes), but the food is strictly mediocre and prices are higher that I'd expect for this quality. Overall the best whole experience was fine. Some things we ate were good, some could be enhanced with a few changes. We'd consider returning but this personally wouldn't be my first choice. To start the drinks we had were really not worth it. The pomegranate lemon drop tasted like just some juice with simple syrup and they up charge for Tito's (or course didn't say anything for $4 more). We also had the espresso martini which is essentially just bitter coffee. Next time we would get wine since the bar drinks are subpar for the area and using a base like Segrums. For appetizers we had the Arancini which was decent, Carpaccio lacked luster, a light citrus dressing would have helped perhaps, and the tuna tartar was the best. The Caesar salad need more of the anchovy like taste to it and a little fresh cheese to go on it. The best salad could have had less arugula and highlight the beets. The crab Cappelini was overall good but could be a bit lighter on the cream sauce and needed some fresh pepper. The Pappardelle al Pesto was also a bit heavy on the pesto but otherwise good. The gnocchi was again a bit heavy with cream subtracting from the flavors as was the Mostaccioli which could have use more fresh herbs instead. The lamb special was overall nice. As for the desserts the Tiramisu' was my favorite however the coating on top should definitely be lighter. The Panna Cotta All' was a bit heavy and would have benefitted from the sauce being drizzled over it but was again not bad. The Crème Brûlée was not as smooth of a texture but still enjoyable. The Bourbon Panettone was good, texture of the bread pudding was a little tough but blended well with the sauce. The Cannoli though I have to say was the worst one I've ever had- the ratio was so far off with the pastry to filling ratio. It was so crunchy. The filling tasted much to sweet like pudding mix. And the chocolate on top did nothing to the taste and did nothing to complement the attempted lemon flavor. For the environment- we appreciated the parking in the back and ramp access. The restaurant however is so unbelievably hot. There is no heat movement. It's hard to enjoy eating a plate of pasta when sweating with no air-movement in the other room. Overall the service was good- waters refilled, extra silverware as needed. Shame we didn't get offered any fresh pepper or cheese to go on our plates but it seemed that was sporadic. Again overall it was a decent meal but there are some things that could be improved upon. read more

Lots of places in downtown Danville require reservations esp on a Sat night especially if you want to eat before 8pm so keep that in mind. We sat outside, people who sat inside made reservations. I met up with some friends tonight at Incontro since outdoor dining has reopened. This was my first time but my parents highly recommended it. I had made a reservation in advance and requested the fire pit table which they accommodated. It kept us nice and toasty while we enjoyed our meal! I also noticed that they had plenty of standing heaters around the restaurant so no one for cold. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer which was a huge portion and very delicious. I was excited to order the pesto pappardelle pasta which was phenomenal! We finished our meal with the chocolate ravioli, which was good, but I will say it was on the smaller side portion wise. We also got the Arrancini, delicious sauce and tasty, but not my favorite~ the smoked mozzarella was a bit too smoky for me. The spaghetti and meatballs had an amazing sauce with decadent meatballs. And the linguine and clams was perfectly light, noodles cooked Al dente with delicious focaccia to sop up any sauce from the pastas!
