I usually go to the Carmichael location to get my dogs food but came here instead. First off I'm have to say the staff is friendly and helpful. I came to buy the Chicken Soup for the Puppy soul. I buy the 18lb bag for my now 3 Yorkies. I get to the register and noticed the bag was expired so I look at the other large bags and guess what all the dog food is expired! WTF?! So I asked the cashier if I could get 3 smaller bags to equal out to the bag that I wanted. The cashier asked the manager if I could get the other size bags since all the rest are expired the manager asks if would just expired food and he would give me a 25% discount. Really?! Why would I buy my dogs expired food? Would you eat expired food? So, I said no thank you and proceeded to leave. The cashier came to me and said she would sell me the smaller bags of food to equal what I would have bought. I went ahead and got what I wanted and cashier even gave me a discount on my purchase 8-). The only reason I am giving them 3 stars is because the cashier went above and beyond to do the right thing for a customer. read more

Incredible Pets keeps the East Sac furry friends happy! This is my go-to neighborhood pet store for my kitty's needs and I'm a frequent flyer here since my feline is my #1 priority (sorry fiancé)! I appreciate that the employees are very friendly and helpful. They always greet me when I arrive and ask me if I need help. [Side note - one employee was overly "friendly" and overly enthusiastic about raw diets. She tried to push one on me for my cat and I told her I didn't like raw diets. She then proceeded to inquire why - she couldn't just accept a "No thanks." So, I had to get a little feisty and I said, "Because I'm a vet and I've been educated extensively on raw diets." That left her open-mouthed and she backed off. People don't like the "pushy" style FYI! That's been my only negative encounter here and it certainly hasn't stopped me from continuing to visit]. The store is always clean and organized, so that I can navigate easily to get in and get out. They have a great selection of feline products and toys for the kit kats! They do have a rewards program too. I've opted out of this because you will get the coupons mailed to you when you accrue so many points and I know that I'll never remember to bring those coupons in (but, I'm sure it works great for those who remember!). I've been coming here for the bast 4-5 months. I used to be an exclusive Western Pet and Feed person. But I switched. My cats were having skin problems, and one has a weight problem. So the doctor says. While Western Pet and Feed were really cool, they were really expensive. So, what prompted me to write this. I'll tell you. Last night, I am in desperate need of cat food. My kitties are meowing up a storm for their cat dinner!! I got out of work late and high tailed it to Incredible Pets. They close at 7:00, it's 7:01. The door is locked, but the lady sees me, and says she already closed the register. I bed, I only need one thing and I know exactly where it is. First she was going to give me free samples to take home and come back the next day for the bag, but then she said, " it's OK, I'll just ring you up and re do the books." Honey, I didn't get your name but you are awesome. Thank you for doing that. I also have always had so much help there, and the prices can't be beat. Also they have a cat treat that has really helped my cats with their tartar problems. No other place I have seen carries this stuff. AWESOME! read more

For some reason I always looked at this place and thought "pretentious" but I really have no reason for that. It is the exact opposite. I got sick of other pet stores in the area, chain stores, specifically, which will not be named. Everyone here is super welcoming without being overbearing. There's always someone around to help, or even just offer to help, which is sometimes better than the actual help. Just knowing someone is nearby in case I drop a pallet of cat food on myself is worth it. Speaking of pallets of cat food, they offer discounts if you buy in bulk! And, it seems like every employee I've spoken to also has a pet, which I think is great. So you know, shop here. Because it's cool. read more

The Short: Had to go get the dogs updated on their shots and the mobile vet was here. Wandered inside to check it out and was pleased with a local option. The Long: After taking my dogs to the mobile vet I went into the store to check it out since I was always in the area, but never actually stopped in. I found the store to be well laid out and there were a ton of specials and sale items to be found. The staff what little I did interact with them was very helpful and friendly. In fact while I was standing in line for the vet outside some one of them came out and handed everyone in line a coupon for a discount. I realize it is just to get people in the door when they are right there, but nice none the less. Although I did not buy anything this particular visit I was happy to find an alternative to the monster chain pet stores that are carbon copies of one another. I'll be checking this out in more detail when the need arrises. What works: Friendly staff and reasonable prices What to improve: I'll get back to you on that one read more

I've been using Incredible Pets since I got my two cats well over a year ago. They've got a great selection of cat litter, from your standard Tidy Cat to highly earth friendly, biodegradable kitty litter, and I always end up stopping by the kitty playthings in a (usually futile) attempt to get my lazy felines up off their haunches. Luckily they have a whole display of 99-cent toys for impulse buys that won't break the bank. I like that they're serious about offering a variety of catnip and its methods of ingestion. I go for the 1 1/3 oz. bulk tub of "Cosmic Catnip" so my cat can stick his whole head in it for a supreme cat buzz. They're also eco-conscious and carry a selection of earth-friendly pet goods (I was eyeballing the biodegradable food dish the last time I was there). They have a rewards program that occasionally bestows a $5 discount upon you whenever you hit a certain amount of money spent. It's a good day when my cats can scratch quality discounted kitty litter over their indiscretions. They also offer pet vaccinations on the weekends, which I haven't taken part in, but I've made full use of the "I'm going to stealth-pet your dog as I walk past you at the front door" method of critter interaction. Yes this place is expensive but for quality goods, that is what I expect. If your pets are your babies like mine are to me, they deserve the best! They have a wide variety of prime goods here for your doggies and kitties. From food to leashes to even chinchillas, there is enough in this store for you to look at that you will be occupied for quite a while. Sometimes I come over here after work just to see what they have in stock for my beloved pets, some things I want that I didn't even know that I needed until I seen it (plushy squeaky duck toy...so adorable for my German Shep). I am in love with the bunnies and chinchillas they have here, I wish I could take them all home. The fish and birds look happy too, I am thinking about adopting a few fishes and I will defiantly buy them here over the cheap-die-in-one day fish from Walmart or Petco. I am biased though, since I hate Petco (uneducated staff, messy store, poor groomers and trainers). Since my Shep is so big, the staff even let me get an extra packet doggie food that they give for free, just to make sure. So nice! Sure this place is 15-20% higher than other stores, as Francesca said, but its convenient place with great customer service. They have so much to offer you, including a pay by weigh treat station, a dog wash area, affordable pet clinic on Sundays, a wide variety of new babies to take home with you, feeders, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and my favorite, they are very clean and organized. Very bad customer service here. I have shopped at this place exclusively since they opened and recently bought a feeder rat and mouse. My reptiles will not eat the feeders and the store manager Chris started out saying he would take them back and then said he wouldn't. I have been an exotic pet owner since childhood and I have never had a pet store sell me feeders and not take them back when the reptiles won't eat them. Now I am stuck with some animals that I don't want and can't take care of because I'm not prepared to house a rat and mouse. I will not shop here again. There are other places who stand behind their products and know that sometimes reptiles are finicky. I will give my business to Pet's To Go. They know how to treat their customers. read more

I asked the clerk for 6 frozen adult feeder mice. He went to the back room, put them in a paper bag, and I paid for 6 adult mice. When I got home, 3 mice were pinkies, 2 were hoppers, and only one was an adult. I guess it's my fault for not looking inside the bag and seeing what I actually was purchasing, but I am pretty disappointed. Okay, so first off, I have to admit that the only purchase that I've actually made here was a $0.99 flea comb. But I go in here frequently to visit their birds. I know, it's maybe a little odd, but the employees are always so darn nice! On one such bird visit, an employee gave me a dried chili pepper to feed one of the birdies as a treat. How nice is that?! Another time, I was in with a friend who was looking for sun block for her dog (owners of pets with mostly white fur can relate). They didn't have any, but they wrote it down and said they'd talk to the manager about getting some. A separate worker gave me awesome advice about flea control, never pressuring me to buy a thing. First time I stopped in here was simply out of curiosity. The store was clean, the people were friendly, and all the animals they were carrying looked healthy and happy in their little environment. The second time I came here (today) was because every Sunday they have a vet mobile come to give vaccinations and shots to dogs/puppies/ and cats. I brought my 9 week old puppy here for his shots and all the people were very nice and friendly but we were short a buck to pay for the fee. My boyfriend walked inside to buy something cheap to get cash back. When he walked out he told me that a one of the ladies that worked there (Vicky) gave him a dollar so he didn't have to buy anything. I thought that was not just nice but very friendly. That simple little gesture will get me to come back for more then just my puppy's monthly shots. So good job Vicky, and thank you for the dollar! =) read more

Easy parking. Wide selection for cats, dogs, fish, rodents and birds. Knowledgeable staff. Amazing, at-random deals. Problem - they have shopping carts in addition to hand-held baskets -- which are very useful when buying those 25+ lbs of dog food, BUT there are no sloped entrances to the parking lot. You either have to risk damage to your cart and someone's car or you have to abandon the cart and lug your purchases to the car. Poor planning. read more

My fiance and I stopped in here the other day to pick up some treats and poopy bags for our doggy Roxy, and we were pleasantly surprised with this store. It seems as though they carry a higher quality of food, treats, and toys than other pet stores we've encountered. I love the bulk treat section, which I believe is $3.99 a pound for any of the treats. Next time we come in, and there will be a next time, we plan to do a mix-and-match bag of treats for our Roxy. We left with the poo bags, a bag of organic treats that Roxy loves, and very heavy-duty ball (this is key, Roxy tears apart EVERYTHING) that she hasn't stopped playing with since we brought it home. This is a great PetCo alternative that has a wider array of higher end dog and cat food as long as dehydrated/fresh dog food. The prices can get a little steep here compared to PetCo or some of the smaller feed stores in and around Sacramento but the employees here are super friendly and it is one of the sites for VIP PetCare's low cost vaccination clinic on Sundays from 1pm-230pm. I usually stop by to pick up some higher end wet food for my cats or dogs or to grab a quality sweater for my pup during the winter. Another awesome plus of this location is that in the front of the store near the entrance, there is a double sided rack that offers free sample sizes of dog and cat food. When I was trying to figure out what type of brand I was going to switch to after feeding my dogs and cats Core for most of their life, I relied heavily on the samples until I found one that was both friendly on their GI tracts and on my wallet. read more

I do. I really like this place. I like the service, I like the selection, I like the quality of the dog and cat food, I even like how they take good care of the animals they sell (the fish and herps look absolutely amazing, AND they carry Paradise Fish.) But the prices are high. I guess you are paying for premium service and a seriously high impact variety of foods (they have the dried kind you add water too for vegan pets even, if you need that sort of thing...) And they have a HUGE selection of the super premium/no filler dog foods, like taste of the wild and blue and a bunch of others. Unfortunately, these all gave my puppy diarrhea, so I switched him to a different cheaper brand (rice and chicken puppy nutro naturals, not that much cheaper, but he needs a bit more to fill him up.) I still like petco, but in a pinch, this is a lovely store. And you get to take samples when you leave, so I use those for training treats. Highly recommend if you want to shop in a pretty primo pet store. read more

Not only did we have fun looking at all of the mice, rats, snakes, turtles, tortoises & birds...... This is a great place to take kids! I don't have any, but it was fun to take the ones I had all week! I was also very impressed with the service. The store had someone to help where ever you turned.... And they were so patient with all of the kids in there.... I even heard a customer say her gecko died that she purchased and the worker said, take this one! WOW, customer service and they are nice? I have a rabbit. And my rabbit is a picky eater. He loves Timothy Hay, but only eats about half of the hay in the mass produced hay blends like Kaytee and JoJo's Best. I went to visit my parents in San Jose one weekend and stopped at their local feed an supply store and found a 25lb box of hay from Oxbow Farms. Bertie loved it. He at it all. And after months of searching I finally found it here in Sac at Incredible Pets! And then when the girl told me I could order a 50lb box, I knew I'd never shop at another pet or feed store again. I'll admit, like most other reviews, it is more expensive than giant chain stores and feed stores alike. But when Bertie eats all $15 worth of hay, instead of leaving half of it, my wallet is a lot happier. All the staff are super friendly too. Always a plus! read more

However, we encountered a rude customer who saw the muzzle and she started using harsh words to attack my dog. But the staff was very nice and even apologized for this rude lady. Cool little (little in this case = not a box store chain that is huge = I assume it's locally owned and it has a full store that's rather big for being a local pet shop) shop with friendly employees. Well stocked on dog & cat food with variety and healthy brands. Small basic selection of freshwater community fish. No salt and no discus or cichlids. A bit pricey on reptile supplies, but they mostly have you covered! Although I didn't see any heat mats. Maybe I missed them. A few small animals including a conure, another bird, rabbit (properly cooled with plastic drink container filled with frozen water), a corn snake, a couple bearded dragons, rodents, etc. Worth a stop if you're in the area! Pretty big, very well stocked and organized with a ton of brands ranging from holistic, organic, main street labels, etc. Staff were super nice, friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. Incredible Pets is a great alternative to the enormous PetSmart and Petco-style stores. The employees actually seem to like animals, and they have lots of free food samples for cats and dogs when you make a purchase. If you prefer premium pet food brands with fewer junky ingredients, this is the place to go for sure. They have a ton of holistic/natural cat and dog food. If you have parrots or small pets, you'll be glad to know that they carry a lot of loose food in bins so you can get as much as you need and cut down on waste. They also have a great selection of bird and small animal toys. I also like that Incredible Pets has donation boxes for local pet shelters like the SPCA and Happy Tails. It's good that they make that small (but important) effort for their local community. read more

Five weeks ago on 1/26/19, my husband and I got 2 baby rats and we love them! Lexi, the woman that helped us, was very nice. Fuzzy and Woody are very friendly, smart and curious after starting off a bit timid since they were so young when we got them. They were born 11/27/18. It was nice to know exactly when they were born. These are some of the gentlest rats I've ever had. They come right up to me and allow themselves to be handled easily.
