I had heard good things and the menu is interesting, but we had a pretty bad experience. Food took forever, was served cold, and was mediocre. Bar was super slow. Our waitress was sweet but helpless to fix the issues. It seemed like they were really struggling--understaffed and poorly managed. I may give it another try in a few months to see if they've been able to fix the issues. Very disappointing though, and everyone in the restaurant seemed to be complaining of similar issues. They preemptively gave us a discount knowing the experience had been poor, which was nice is them. Hopefully they get back on track soon. read more

We went on a Friday evening and I would say the overall experience was fairly average. Server was nice but definitely wasn't the best service I have received. We ordered a variety of fries, Mac n cheese balls, a skewer, and a pad Thai to share. It was an interesting order, but we wanted to try a bit of what people were excited about. I would say most all of the items were okay but nothing really exciting on the menu. The skewers were below average and you can easily find a better chicken pad Thai in Winston. Some of the fries were good with the sauce that came with them, but I would say a little under on the seasoning. The Mac n cheese balls were good, but nothing out of the ordinary. My family was craving Asian food so we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. The server was very friendly and we were even greeted by the owner, Pim. We all thought the food was very well proportioned and so delicious. I ordered the drunken noodles, my wife the Thai Beef Salad Bangkok style and our teenage son the pimento bacon burger. Our waitress was nice and the ambiance was laid back. The food was a miss. The quality of the hamburger meat was really good but the burger lacked flavor although there was a lot going on. The wings were dry. We also had a salad and it was disappointing. The spring rolls were fried poorly and had no flavor. Honestly the food here is joyless. We were very disappointed. Our dishes went back basically full but no one asked what was wrong. However, when we pointed out the spring rolls were fried poorly they gave us new ones. There didn't appear to be any strong or experienced management on the floor. One of the workers soaked the women's bathroom floor with water and a customer slipped. I have to say I've been here numerous times always order the same thing and there was four of us and the waitress brought out four samplers where we ordered one and when she brought them out, acknowledge that she messed up, told her that it was incorrect that I didn't order four of them She said oh I'll take care of it. To start off, it was a difficult decision to conclude if the overall rating should be a 3 or 4. When visiting the restaurant, the same woman was our host and server and while she was kind, the service was quite slow. It took quite a while to get straws, refills, and our check. While InDemand did just begin to offer a dine in experience, not all that visit the restaurant are aware of this and of course would expect prompt service. As far as the ambiance, they did a nice job adding certain décor to give the restaurant it's Asian fusion vibes. We tried an array of items including two of their loaded fry options, Trailer Park and Crab Rangoon Loaded. Both loaded fries were unique and had good flavor, though they were lacking seasoning. After adding some salt and pepper, they were much better. Thinking back, we ordered the Seoul Hot Chicken bao buns, but we may have received the Korean BBQ bao buns instead as the sauce was quite sweet and not spicy at all. The bao buns were the absolute best thing ordered though. The buns were soft, and the chicken was large and still so crispy even being dosed in sauce. The California burger was just okay. Not bad, but not great. It lacked flavor and needed salt and pepper like the fries to elevate the flavor. While we were not blown away, we want to return to try their other dishes such as the tossed wings & chicken tenders, meat skewers, fried mac & cheese bites and their coming soon options including garlic fried rice! read more

Scavenging Yelp in hopes of finding a new, interesting place to eat led me to InDemand. An interesting menu of both Thai and America food, the pictures of the food drew me in. Arrived and was glad to find easy parking. After looking over the menu, I went with a carolina burger and poutine fries with onion gravy. Once the food came, I picked up that burger and could not put it down! Every bite was packed with awesome flavor. The bacon jam with the caramelized onions combined with a juicy burger just made my taste buds shout 'long live InDemend'. The fries dipped into the onion gravy took my moment of extacy to the next level, pure bliss! Great customer service (thanks Nicole), cool beer selection, and amazing full flavor food. They forgot the dressing on one, the dressing on the other was bland and overly salty. The chicken was poorly prepared and unseasoned. The cashews were stale. Ended up, throwing it away and having grilled cheese sandwiches at home. Maybe we ordered wrong. But I doubt it, The place didn't even seem to have a food vibe, it felt like some sort of a chain restaurant. The people who work there seem nice, but other than that, I have nothing to recommend. This is Hops - the prior burger and fries restaurant in this space- with a few Asian fusion additions that are ok but do not hit the spot. The staff was very kind but overly apologetic. Wait time was normal for dinner hour. Chicken karaage flavor was good, but portion size was much much smaller than expected. The peanut sauce it came with had good flavor but was too thick to be an actual dipping sauce. The skewers are TINY. The pork belly was tasty, shrimp were a bit bland, and the shishito pepper was like cardboard. Tried a few of the bao, and it was OK but the spicy chicken and barbecue was almost indistinguishable. Again, each order was smaller than expected with 2 small bao per order. Very few veggie options. A side of broccoli was supposed to be oven roasted but it was steamed. Had the kale salad and it was overall fine but I wished it had been dressed first and the kale softened. Besides the small plates the rest of the menu was basically the same burgers and fries as Hops. That part of the menu did not adapt. This seems to be changing as they have a sign up that says there will be a noodle bar in the future. But I don't think I will come back to try it. read more

I had been once before and the food wasn't bad but they had new restaurant issues then, with slow service, etc. This time was stellar.
