Last week, we stopped in while we waited for the the snow to calm down. The place is really well decorated and peaceful, and I think there were sound dampening artistic fixtures on the ceiling. The vegetable Korma was missing main ingredients such as cashews, major spices etc. The rice provided along with the main dish was dry and was not cooked properly. Tried out this new place yesterday and its truly awesome. Their Chicken fry was a thing of beauty ! I tried their lunch special Chicken fry( Poricha Kozhi n Chappathi) and honestly from past experiences at umpteen NY Indian restaurants was just expecting something decent.. something between a Fried Chicken and Tandoori .. but boy was I surprised!! Their Chicken Fry was the closest I have tasted to the authentic "thattu kada" chicken fry you get in Kerala ... the meat was well marinated in.. i believe .. awesomeness .. and fried to perfection ! This is the real deal ! Another thing I noticed is they have Indo-Chinese on the menu as well.. and its great to have a good mix of options among North Indian, South Indian, Kerala and Indo-Chinese cusinies. This place has quickly become my favorite place to get Indian food in ALL of Westchester, and I have been to quite a few of them. They do not hold back with their spices, something that distinguishes India Cafe from its competition. In addition to the usual tikka masala and naan breads that most people enjoy, India Cafe offers dishes that are rarer in these parts. My favorite dish of the moment is the Kerala chicken curry, made with coconut milk and fragrant with curry leaves and mustard seeds. My mouth is watering just thinking about this dish. I've also had their biryanis, crispy dosas, and vadas, all of which are excellent. Although their dine-in and take-out space has been on the smaller side, they've opened up a new restaurant space next door with a buffet. Same great food. I hope to try everything on their menu and my only wish is that India Cafe would open for breakfast on the weekends. (Hey, sometimes I tire of the old eggs, bacon and pancakes routine.) Thus, prior to placing my order via Eat24, I called the restaurant to make sure my order would be delivered when I needed it. I was assured that delivery would take 40 minutes. I allowed 50. It took 75 minutes for the food to arrive. The bread I ordered was missing. I called the restaurant and was told to check the bag. Really? I think I am capable of opening a small shopping bag and locating the few items contained therein. Bread was ultimately delivered after we had finished eating. Moreover, and of greater importance, my guest and I thought the food was ordinary at best. I'll overlook anything for good food. Great indian food. I've ordered from india cafe multiple times and never been disappointed with the food. Great quality food and generous portions. My favourites at india cafe are paneer Tikka masala, methi paneer, masala dosa, samabar, onion kulcha, naan and many more (pretty much everything vegetarian on their menu). The vegetarian lunch buffet usually includes 2 subzis, dal, an appetizer, roti/naan, rice and a bottle of water. All this fr less than $10. The subzis are very authentic and taste like homemade food. The South Indian food here is phenomenal!! I'm not sure about delivery but the food is soooo good. Most Indian restaurants have the typical north Indian food such as the tikka masala, etc which this restaurant also has but the South Indian food is really authentic! They serve what is already ready at the counter so there is barely any wait time. The food was too much for me to finish and was pretty good. However, I felt nauseous afterwards.
