My fiancé and I used to love this place and came here after being away from LA for the past two years, but we won't ever come back. Firstly, the front door says that masks are absolutely required. However, both the chef and the server were not wearing masks! I was impressed that they cared about safety so much by requiring masks, but was quickly disappointed when I saw no one wearing them. I asked the server for two white sauce, and then he comes back and says I asked for the tamarind sauce. He gives me the requested white sauce, and then HITS ON ME after I had just come with my fiancé. So first he tries to blame me that I asked for the wrong sauce and then he tries to hit on me when I go back in alone without my fiancé for the sauce. Not impressed with the service or the food. First time trying food at this location, staff was helpful and very nice. They let me try a few items before I selected anything. Everything I tried was good. Ended up taking home the coconut chicken curry and chicken tikka masala. Also I have to mention the large portions of chicken in the items I selected. Very tasty. The rice tasted fresh, and the garlic naan was good. This place is great, they have a shopping area, as well as a section where you can eat your food. All looked very clean. There were only two people working here, so it was a bit busy since I ordered so much but it was definitely worth it! Listen to the other review! I just walked out of this restaurant and haven't tasted the food yet. But I want to leave this review because it doesn't matter how the food tastes, because they are dishonest. I ordered the food special which is $8.99 as stated on their menu both inside and outside the store and also on their online menu. When the cashier rang me up on the register the total was $12.06. even with tax it should have been no more than $10 but he decided to add on another two dollars for no apparent reason at all. This is a lack of integrity and I understand that all businesses are struggling which is why I decided to support a local business, but this isn't the way. I repeated the amount back and he confirmed that was the amount I decided that that would be their tip which I would have given anyway. However if you are using a card beware because you would be adding a tip on top of their overcharge, which would end up being more of half the menu amount in overage and tip. Luckily I try to pay in cash at these mom and pop shops. Also my combo included a raita and pickle, however when I got home this was missing. If you are over charging every customer by a few dollars and with holding a part of the meal that they ordered then at the end of the day, a portion of your profits come simply from running a dishonest business. read more

Little did I know this spot has been under my nose all this time and I have been severely missing out. I LOVE love Indian food and Baloo and India Fresh have the best curries and indian cuisines and groceries in town!! Baloo is fantastic at letting you sample anything in his "kitchen" in case you're a first-timer, or have never tried certain dishes. Very hospitable and kind fella. And I'm sorry we didn't meet him sooner. The chicken tikka masala is top notch and huge in portion, and he had me at "the wait will be awhile if you would like the garlic naan, as we make it from scratch" well let me tell you, it was WORTH THE WAIT. Perfect, Crispy, Chewy, and OH SO GARLICKY!!!! Makes for the perfect "sopping vehicle" for your curries and stew/sauces. OMG. I want naan now.... It's like NAAN other there. I remember walking in not knowing what to order and the guy working the counter was extremely nice let me try a little bit of everything. My go to now is Chicken Tikka masala with okra or potatoes and bell peppers along with some garlic nam and boom... magic! Indian fresh is a small local establishment with few employees and food can sometimes take a bit, but don't let the wait discourage you and check this place out.They have a unique taste and it's very satisfying! Well, India Fresh has cured me of that. For nine dollars (NINE!), I got a meal worthy of a king, or at least a princess. And I was treated like a queen. First time here, the extremely hospitable gentleman in the magenta turban immediately provided me with a little plate of free samples. After I almost swooned in delight, I ordered the delicious vegetarian combo (eggplant, dumplings, raita, rice, and the biggest naan ever) and a sweet lassi that was perfectly sweet and tart. I was offered a sampling of their combo items. One can pick one or two item combos with rice and garlic or regular naan bread. So I ordered chicken tikka masala $11.99, small rice $1.75, garlic naan $2.49. The chicken was a little over cooked but in a tasty sauce. Way too much sauce for the amount of chicken or too little chicken for the amount of sauce. Rice was basmati rice and was decorated with a star anise. This is a great little gem right there on Azusa Blvd, next to the Big 5. Family run, it is homey and the food is pretty good. Free samples for the asking, too! It is a small grocery store with a dining area set-up inside. Some things we tried were the 2 curries they had, one vegetarian, one with chicken, rice, bitter melon, and the garlic naan. I also had two appetizers, sorry I can't remember what it was called, but it was potatoey with spinach maybe? and a big round ball, and the samosa. Both were really good and the standout was that mint dip! I was more partial to the vegetarian curry, the rice was excellent as was the naan. I would advise phoning your order in ahead of time if you are in a hurry. This place gets a little busy around dinnertime :) read more
