This was the best Indian food we have ever had. Service was great. We had no problem finding parking.

Came here for Indian food and it was a 10/10! My husband and I ordered the butter chicken, cheese garlic naan, tandoori chicken, and mango chutney. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and the flavors were amazing! The only small critique I have is that we were given bottles of water rather than water in glasses, but other than that, everything was wonderful. We will definitely be back! read more

My fellow Yelpers did not steer me wrong-Indian Flavors was ah‑mazing! The menu is huge, with something for everyone. It did take a few minutes to get seated even though only a couple of tables were occupied, but it looked like the two servers were juggling multiple roles. We started with the vegetable samosas, which unfortunately arrived hot on the outside but cold in the middle. Our server handled it immediately, and when our new order came out it was piping hot and absolutely delicious. He apologized more than one, even at checkout, and you could tell he genuinely cared about making things right. My chicken tikka masala was great- a little on the sweet side, but still very tasty. My husband ordered the vegetarian assorted platter and loved everything, though he said the spice level was straight-up Hades. If you're craving an authentic taste of India, give Indian Flavors a try. You won't be disappointed!! read more

This isn't in a particularly scenic area, but I stopped in seeking a different set of flavors than you'd find elsewhere in Wilmington. Oddly, they had a picture of a chole bhature in their window, but it was not on the menu. When I asked about it, they nonetheless produced the fried bread and chickpeas I requested, along with a variety of accoutrements that really make the flavors sing, including lemon, fresh onions, and some salty pickled vegetables. It was an impressive creation, even if the bread was very fried. A mulligatawny soup was hearty. I didn't need the starchy appetizer they brought for free, but I went ahead and ate it. Their chai, also not apparent on the menu, was sweet and spicy. I am more inclined to seek Indian food in the Triangle than around here, but the food I got was high quality, and there was an abundance of choice. read more

My friend and I had lunch here the other day. I've been wanting to try it, as I read some good reviews. I ordered the Punjabi Saagwala curry with chicken. It had leafy greens and onions. I ordered it medium spicy, which was delicious. The chicken was so tender. My friend ordered the Vindaloo curry, also with chicken. It had potatoes. I had a taste and it was also delicious. Both came with white rice. It was a small portion and not enough to go with my leftovers. Our waiter was the only one that took care of several tables. We did meet the owner, who asked if we enjoyed our food. We found the dining room to be very warm. When I went to the restroom, there was a noticeable difference - much cooler there and near the bar area (nice bar!). Their prices are on the high side compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to. Some of the appetizers are on the pricy side. With the price for lunch ($15 plus $4 to add the chicken), we didn't want to order an appetizer. That would have turned into an expensive lunch. I did see their dinner Thali menu (served from 4pm to 10pm), which looks to be a much better deal than ordering a la carte. That may be the best option on a possible future visit. read more

We went here with a local and weren't disappointed - this is the authentic and delicious meal we sought. We each had different curries, with different spicy levels, and our waiter was very accommodating and informative as we honed in on the selections and seasoning. We started with lamb samosas,; they were crispy shelled with a flavorful and generous ground lamb stuffing. Our curries were each different and sumptuous, my wife's lamb was very mild and my chicken wonderfully hot. I've been wanting an authentic Indian meal and finally found it. The dining room is colorful and characteristically appointed, and provides a casual elegance that fits the top quality of their food. We supped slowly, enjoying good conversation and excellent food. Full disclosure...Indian Food is not my favorite cuisine. With that said, I have had many Indian meals that have been quite good, even excellent, which is saying a lot as I am admittedly quite picky. There were four of us and what struck us immediately was the atmosphere. Sadly, there is none. The walls are painted an odd shade of green, the tables are weirdly cut in half but can't be pulled apart, and most importantly, the lighting is more of what one would expect at a McDonald's. I'm not sure why so many restaurant owners don't realize lighting is probably the single most important element in establishing the mood and atmosphere of their restaurant, and is worth spending both time and money on. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. We didn't realize they didn't have a liquor license, and in the big picture that didn't matter, except their drink choices were essentially smoothies and not much else. I ordered the mango lassi, my husband got the sweet lassi and our friends just ordered water, which is served in a lovely coppery pitcher and goblets. For apps we ordered the mango shrimp, which was by far the star of the evening. The sauce was amazing and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. Our friends ordered the chicken samosa, which while a bit on the dry side, benefitted from the delicious tamarind sauce. For our mains I ordered the seafood talli and my husband got the mixed grill. Our friends wisely decided to share the mixed grill, as portion sizes are quite large. Since garlic nan is a favorite of mine, we ordered that as well, but sadly they were dry and overcooked, not fluffy as we've all come to expect. The lamb in the mixed grill was everyone's favorite part, but they all agreed the rest of the dish, particularly the chicken, was very dry. As for my dish, I ended up taking most of it home, and while I have no major complaints, in fairness I believe my lack of enthusiasm is connected more to my lukewarm attitude about Indian cuisine than any particular issues with the dishes preparation. I did ask for some tamarind sauce to take home and was charged $1 for what amounted to about 1 oz which I thought was a little petty, especially since my friend had asked and received extra sauce and wasn't charged. I would say if you're a big fan of Indian food and don't care about atmosphere, give them a try. They seem like good people and I'm sure will do well, but none of us will be rushing to go back. read more

The service was mixed the wait staff was friendly and helpful, but my Lamb biryani didn't come out until well after my son's meal and he had almost already finished it. The onion stuffed naan was not good (thought it was going to be green onion and not what seemed like half a red onion per naan. The lamb samosa was good. My son's Tikka Masala was good but my lamb biryani was not and I like biryani. On top of it the dish is $25 and I literally ate 3 bites packed it up got back to my Airbnb and threw it away. read more

In order to make the food taste good, the chef added too much of oil and made it super unhealthy. Sev puri was tasty. But they need to go light with oil. Was feeling uneasy by evening because the food didn't go well with my stomach. Please put less oil in your food and spare people from getting cholesterol issues. read more

Ate here for lunch a little after noon on Saturday. They just opened so there was only one other person eating at that time. Kind of a hole in the wall, but seats were comfortable. High chairs are available. No changing table in the private single bathrooms. We had garlic naan, vegetable pakora, vegetable Samosas, butter chicken, goat (bone in) biryani and mango lassi. I liked the cute little copper tumbler cups and water pitcher. Waitress asked if we wanted ice or not in our cups for the water. Garlic Naan wasn't buttery, but delivered on garlicky with fresh garlic. Vegetable pakoras were great, deep fried crispy, and tasted even better with the green chutney (a little spicy) and I'm assuming tamarind chutney. Samosas were two huge pieces, a little spicy. Good with the chutneys. Butter chicken was good, creamy, not super rich. Served with plain basmati rice. Chicken pieces were big though and needed to be cut smaller for bite-size. Goat biryani rice was tasty with yogurt and fresh lime. Goat was a little bit gamey though. Mango lassi was very good, refreshing, delicious mango flavor, cold, sweet and creamy. Helped soothe the spiciness from the food. Service was attentive and food was made pretty quick, 5 to 9 minutes for appetizers and about 16 minutes for entrees. I LOVE trying out new restaurants in Wilmington! Today was one such lucky wonderful day- a girlfriend called who wanted to try this new restaurant that opened just a few days ago, Indian Flavors! I love Indian food, so I was beyond excited to try it. And boy was it a phenomenal experience! The entire team was so extremely friendly and so excited for us to be there. The restaurant is back in the corner of a strip mall of various stores and restaurants, so take the time and don't over look this one! When I arrived, my friend had already been seated and was chatting with the owner of the restaurant. He was enthusiastically telling us about the menu items and which were his favorites. Our waitress came over right away and got our drink orders. We ordered waters and sodas, and the owner insisted we also try the mango lassies, which were SO good!!! We decided to try the vegetable pakora (eat it with both sauces!), the Chicken Drums of Heaven (AMAZING!!!- they also wrap the drumstick ends with foil so you don't get insanely messy, and they're massive drumsticks!), and the lamb seekh kebab (massive portion on a huge sizzling skillet, super delicious!) for appetizers. For our entrees, my friend tried the goat vindaloo, which was pretty spicy- she loves spice, I'm a massive wimp, she loved it, I loved the flavors and then my mouth lit on fire. If you're a spice wimp like me, ask for a side of yogurt- it will save you!! I ordered the tandoori mixed grill which was another insane amount of food! I had told our amazing waitress (Riddhi) how much of a spice wimp I am so she had the kitchen make my entrée super not spicy, and it came out perfect! I also ordered garlic naan because.... Always garlic naan! It was really tasty and a great portion size. By this point we were beyond stuffed (I took 2 boxes of food home), and another amazing woman working at the restaurant told us we couldn't leave without trying the rice pudding...so we did. Super delicious as well! Overall, every single item was incredibly delicious! Everything comes with mint sauces, and I got yogurt as well to help with any level of spiciness. The owner told us that they try to aim for 7/10 spiciness in general, if you want really spicy, ask for 10/10, and I'm a -5/10 spiciness so make sure to ask for that if that's what you need. Absolutely recommend, I can't wait to go back and try more. Every other patron loved their meals too (we were totally eavesdropping), and another table was recommending other dishes to us as we were paying our bill at the counter. I give it four stars because the food is really good. They have a huge menu with many Items I've never heard of, and they all look deelish. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired, and the music is super loud. I'd say the main criticism is the sauces and chutneys are really watery--they don't stick to the food when you dip it or spread it on, and being watered down makes them less tasty. This was some of the best Indian food I've ever had!! Even though I came too close to closing, the service was impeccable and I enjoyed every bite. I got korma, because I love it. But this dish had many vegetables and paneer, and it was bright and delicious. I also got garlic naan and the portions were very generous. I finished with a mango lassi which was rich and the perfect finish for a hot summer day. Every time I come to Wilmington, I will come here for a great meal. The food was good and it's nice to have another choice for Indian food in Wilmington. The ambiance and decor have a lot to be desired. The restaurant windows and front door are covered so you can't tell if the place is open or not. It's not very welcoming. The interior is not very pleasing & hip hop videos were playing on the TV. Why not Bollywood music or something to please all generations? And sadly, the bathroom needed some attention- trash overflowing and dirty floor. read more

Don't let this "Hole in the Wall" restaurant fool you. This could be a quick place to eat or a nice dinner out! It's early afternoon on a Sunday, I'm wondering why this place is not packed? Food is phenomenal! Knowing what I do about Indian cuisine, I already knew what I was eating. They are very polite about customizing food to your taste. Not that many restaurants offer that. I'm the type, to try a culture, eat their food the way it is. No alterations. It has never let me down. I highly recommend this place. As soon as you pull into the parking lot, it's a straight line. We went the day after Valentine's Day so there were still cute decorations and the napkins were folded in to cute little hearts. The table gets its own pitcher of water for everyone at the table so you don't have to wait for refills. This is important if you get anything spicy. Service was great as everything was bought in a timely manner. The food was great. The appetizer of vegetable Samosas were delicious (not pictured as they were too delicious to not eat immediately). The appetizer comes with 2 Samosas it also comes with 2 dipping sauces, both have some heat but were great. The Tandoori Chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry or chewy at all. The Chicken Vindaloo was excellent (be prepared for the heat). Very well marinated and not dry. The Naan basket was very good. We chose garlic, butter, and chili naan. Be prepared for the heat on the chili naan as well. I consider this the best Indian restaurant that Wilmington has to offer as of now (we have been traveling to Raleigh anytime we wanted good Indian). Definitely worth the price! Wow, all I can say is wow. The food was delicious and more importantly, authentic. The tamarind sauce was the best I have ever had, and I have eaten Indian food over the globe (except India). I craved the aromatic when I was pregnant and still enjoy it. The chicken korma was amazing; slightly sweet, slightly spicy and creamy. The food was amazing. My husband ordered the three curry dinner which included an amazing butter chicken. I ordered the vegetarian three curry dinner and had a mixed vegetable Korea, a creamy tomato based paner curry and a spicey chickpea curry. All the curries were chefs choice but each unique and well prepared. We took enough left overs for another dinners. There is enough to share the three curry dinners. They include a dessert which wa a delectable tapioca pudding. It was creamy and just sweet enough. The nan was fresh, hot, and with just enough of a crunch to make you want to eat a whole basket. Our server,Rocky, was knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient checking with us several times to make we were satisfied with everything. We were a party of 11. When this was communicated to someone who claimed to be the owner, we could sense that he didn't want us to dine there. His immediate response was "We are short staffed, and we can't make a table for 11. No one is there to clean the tables"(Red flag 1) . We compromised and wanted to still dine separately as 3 families. My wife asked to clean up the table (respectfully), when she saw another staff person come in. The guy who claims to be the owner was offended by that and confronted us all saying she was not respectful, and she was showing attitude. (Big Red flag 2). Regardless of how stressful you are as an owner or a worker, you need to be respectful and patient with your customers (especially so in the service industry). He didn't even have the courtesy to hear what she had to say (Red flag 3). I hope no one else had to go through this painful experience. People go to these places to eat, not to fight. read more

At very least a napkin with finger food like this. A bar menu should accompany set up. Food was delivered well and was good temperature. Paying check was not done well. We got take out cartons, did I mention generous servings?, but no tab to the table. After 10 minutes I went to counter and paid, pos displayed the total and itemized for about 10 seconds. A New Gem in Wilmington - Absolutely Unmissable! I don't hand out 5-star reviews lightly, but Wilmington's new Indian restaurant has absolutely earned every one of them. The menu is a perfect mix of beloved classics and creative chef specials. I started with the samosas - perfectly crisp, golden, and bursting with flavorful potato and peas - paired with tangy tamarind chutney that I could honestly drink by the glass. The service was just as impressive - attentive without hovering, and clearly proud of the food they were serving. The owner even stopped by our table to check on us and share a bit about the recipes' family origins, which made the experience even more special. Wilmington, you've been blessed. This is the kind of restaurant that makes you want to bring friends just so you can order more dishes to try. I'll be back next week, and probably the week after that. read more

This was my first time trying Indian Flavors and Bar. The service was friendly (I picked up.) The naan was OUTSTANDING. I ordered the chicken korma. The texture of the chicken (seemed like it was boneless thighs) was very tender. One thing that I found slightly off-putting was the amount of sweetness in the curry. I know that the curry usually contains sultanas, and I discerned a couple, but it still seemed much more sweet than I am used to. I prefer a slightly more savory curry. I also found the dish quite spicy, but to be fair, I did not request a milder spice level, and I'm not very spice tolerant. It was still good, and we finished it. Spice lovers would probably not find this hot, and I just had some tongue burning sensation and a bit of a runny nose. It was definitely still edible. All that to say, I probably wouldn't order the korma again, but I would definitely try other dishes. Everyone in the restaurant who was dining on site seemed very satisfied as well. read more
