My husband and I went to Indian Haweli for the first time last night. OMG. Believe it or not, the best Indian food we'd had ever was from a takeaway in Edinburg, Scotland. Until now. We were greeted warmly and drinks and crispy uri dahl (I think) was brought out with with two dipping sauces. YUM! We ordered the Aloo Tikki and Samosas as appetizers and were immediately impressed. They were deep friend and crispy but not greasy at all. Good flavor. We ordered basmati rice, garlic and plain naan, chicken tikka masala and chicken korma, both mild. Each was divine; perfectly seasoned and piping hot. The naan was flavorful and generous in size. Dessert was a shared rice pudding. Very delicate in flavor, not too sweet. Service was constant and attentive without being in-your-face. We get so tired of super-pumped up, Valley Girl waitresses who only care about tips. It's so obvious here that the wait staff and owners care about the quality of their food and the happiness of their customers. We'll definitely be back! read more

Visited the Resturant for lunch buffet but towards the closing timings(2:30 pm) so I feel this could be the reason most of the food was either stale or hard or dried up completely . The only food which I liked was chili chicken which was spicy and slightly fresh! Veg samosa was so bland that they literally filled boiled salt potatoes with pars as stuffing... Rice had gotten crunchy but upon my request they served fresh rice to our table towards the end. The lunch comes with one naan per person... Since we had no rice to compliment our food with, the 2 provided got done quickly, as I asked for more they told me I'll be charged extra for more naan!! Point is, if they cared for customer service would have offered half a naan with fresh rice , since we were not able to enjoy rice of the buffet... I came to Indian Haweli for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised and a bit nervous to find that there was a $7.99 lunch buffet (nervous because buffets can easily go very wrong). Excellent customer service -love small/independent bussiness drive! The owners really trys to get to know you. They will go out of you way to help you decifer Indian grocery items. Food is OK though. This was my first experience eating at an Indian restaurant. It was good and fun to experiment with new taste profiles. We had seen the good reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try for dinner. We had the chili chicken (loved it!), Chicken Tikka Masala (I'm not a fan of curry so it wasn't one of my favorites), Chicken curry (which I loved--didn't taste like the traditional curry I'm familiar with). We all loved the appetizer samosas. Loved them!!! We liked the sweet tamarin sauce that came with it. We also ordered the Mango Lassi which was perfect to counter the spiciness of a couple of the dishes (we order medium). We were suprised by the mixed veggies. We didn't realize they were going to come swimming in curry sauce. All the previous reviewers were correct the Garlic Naan was to die for. Incredibly yummy!! A must order. read more

Well, finally went back for the first time since the change of ownership. Place looks the same, which is good. The menu seems to have expanded, which is good. Prices have stayed the same, which is also good. The service was a little slow and the young male waiter seemed to be new to serving. He was very nice but just needs to be a little more attentive (ie notice dishes piling up, empty water glasses, if the food is taking a long time maybe stop by and check in, etc) The food was a mixed bag. The vegetable pakora appetizer was as it always was, very good. The white wine came out warm which was solved by requesting some ice cubes. For my main course I always order the Chicken tikka Masala. It's one of my favorite dishes ANYWHERE. Or at least it was. It used to be a delicious thick, creamy sauce and last night it was watery and relatively bland. Very sad about this. Spice level was good (SPICY) but that didn't save it. May go back to try something else, but instead of Haweli being my "Go to" Indian restaurant, I will now need to search out something that has the potential to be better. Shame. read more

I am unable to comment on the ambiance or service since I got a take out order, but the food was pretty good. We ordered the chicken korma and the chicken tikka masala and they were both delicious. Ordered both of them with Medium level spice and that was the perfect mix of spicy but not overwhelming. We've been going there long enough to know the owners, Dale and Karen, who are very nice and personable and always greet us by name and make you feel welcome. If there was an option to rate Indian Haweli 6 stars, I would gladly have clicked that box. I have eaten at over 50 Indian restaurants in Los Angeles. It's my favorite food. When I had the chance to try out Indian Haweli, I was shocked to discover that the BEST Indian food within 50 miles of Los Angeles was indeed in Simi Valley. Hands down, the chicken tikki masala is their best dish. There's not an Indian restaurant around that can compare with what they offer. Their chicken chili is amazing, as well. I have eaten here over a dozen times during the day, at night, on the weekends, and they never fail to treat me like a friend. Everyone that works there is remarkably welcoming and friendly, too, and all my friends love the place. The prices are very reasonable. It's a clean restaurant. They have a grocery store connected to it on the other side - in case you want some traditional Indian cuisine to prepare later, as well. This is a great, traditional restaurant to try if you are in the area. read more

Surprised at the excellent quality AND how empty the restaurant was early Sunday evening. There WERE a number of take-outs going on, though. Sorry we don't get to Simi that often, but will be sure to make a stop when we the opportunity arises. Our group of 4 had a variety of dishes, chicken curry, lamb korma, lamb do piaza (sp?), saag aloo, and a tandoori-roasted eggplant dish (name something like barta bentha) + garlic naan + rice. It seemed like a lot of food, and we INTENDED to take more home, but we gobbled up almost all of it. Every dish VERY tasty. Good news! I went back to give it one more chance from my previous review 2 months ago. The food is now good again. I have been back two times and all is good. Thank you to the owner. They definitely made improvements. Even the service has improved. The only complaints are that the Samosas need improvement as they are very bland( yuk) and when I went for the buffet late in the afternoon like around 2PM many of the food items where sitting out for a while and were running low or out completely( I had to ask for them to refill the items I wanted thus I had to wait). read more

When I lived in Simi I used to go here all the time. Their service and food was always my favorite Indian spot to go to. They were always kind and caring. They also would always be surprised when my table and I would get the spiciest level there and eat every last bite. Of course all of us were pretty much crying from the heat by the end. :) Food is always packed full of flavor and not once have I had a bad experience with them. My water glass was NEVER empty. At one time they ended up leaving a pitcher of water at our table as a joke. Sure made me laugh and they still made sure they were filling our glasses, not us. What service! Recently while I was work, I remembered this place and decided to get delivery from them. I am SO glad I did! It was delivered within five minutes of the estimated arrival time, was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I am not a big fan of lamb, but here I could eat it forever! complete disaster!! My favorite restaurant is now under new management! The service is horrible I cannot stress that enough. I ate there today and watched the waiters telling customers they had to use the same plate for their second trip to the buffet?!? The food is terrible nothing like used to be. An old man stands at the buffet stirring the food and hardly put any meat in the meat dishes he waits for customers to ask for it. This restaurant will not stay open with these managers.
