My wife and I visited this restaurant last week and were beyond sorely disappointed with the experience. The owner/manager was rude, certainly disagreeable, and after we were served with an initial appetizer, samosa, we tasted it and to our total surprise and disgust, it was full of ice granules and had never been heated. There was no apology whatsoever and the manager mumbled with an air of haughtyness, "I'll get a new order or you can leave if you prefer. At his implied suggestion, we got up to leave in total disbelief. Insultingly, he charged us for two cokes which we had not drunk. We have eaten in Indian restaurants all over the world and were looking forward to trying the Indian Kitchen. We would have stayed if there had been any resemblance of "our mistake, please stay and we'll insure that your dining experience will be a good one." My advice to other desert people looking to enjoy quality Indian cuisine ........Avoid this poor excuse of a restaurant! read more

I called to inquire about making a reservation. The person I talked to on the phone was helpful but told me they aren't taking reservations due to limited staff. A few hours later, The owner of the restaurant returned my call, which was good customer service, but proceeded to tell me they don't allow minors because they've had problems with people failing to control their children in the past. He said they don't want kids running around the restaurant, which is fair, but he asked me straight up whether my kids are well behaved. I told him "usually," but we didn't need to inconvenience him with my children's presence. I understand that businesses can do whatever they want, but I thought it was kind of rude. I'm curious whether he has any kids of his own. In conclusion, don't bring your kids to this restaurant. I'm giving it 3 stars since I am required to rate it even though I have never been there. Absolutely tastebud frenzy experience. From the mint chicken and rice pilaf/onion nan flatbread to the chicken tikka masala. Homemade pistachio ice cream and apple pie was a scrumptious bonus. I was really looking forward to having an Indian restaurant in the area because there scarce in the Coachella Valley but I was very disappointed in this restaurant. The food was greasy, overly salty, pricey with small portions. Plus they charge for rice! I was in a group of four and we all thought the food was not good. SUPERB food, and very spicy, which we had requested. Chicken Tikka was incredibly generously portioned, Lamb Vindaloo was fresh and delicious and tender and the Eggplant was fantastic. Raita on Garlic Naan was great too. Ordered though UberEats and the driver forgot one of our entrees. I called the restaurant and they already knew which main dish had been forgotten and the owner immediately offered to deliver it to our home. He arrived 15 minutes later and had also added some other wonderful treats to the delivery. So, it was not only outstanding food, it was outstanding customer service. Well I called and asked if they were taking Togo orders and the man said yes I said I'd call back after I looked at the menu. I did call back and women answered this time and she seemed a little lost the entire order. She said maybe two words the whole time and there was a ton of awkward silence. I asked if the tikka Marsala and the madolorean chicken came with rice, she said "no" I said how much is a side of rice and she said maybe 3 or 4$ I said can I have two. She then asked my name and then said maybe 20-30 minute wait. When my husband went to pick up the food she sat there quietly just looking at him, no words (I believe it, I just experienced it on the phone) and then he paid. The total was 54$ that was crazy because when he walked out it looked like he was carrying a bag of pastries. There was nothing in the bag. The chicken manadlorean has a horrible burnt taste ( we found charred Serrano chili's in it) the tikka Marsala is very yummy that's what earned the second star. The portions are tiny. We're still hungry and the rice was supposed to be white rice but because they added 6/7 peas on top they called it pilaf and charged more then what was told on the phone. Over all I'm disappointed in the portion and the burnt dish. I'm going to let them work out their kinks and hopefully try them again. This could totally be a great Indian food pace based on the flavor of that Marsala but man what a let down. read more

Expectations exceeded! I am a San Francisco food snob and very rarely am I even satisfied with the quality of restaurant food down in the valley east of Palm Springs. But this place delivers. I ordered standards for comparative purposes and all were a little different from standard, in a very good way. The chicken tikka masala was more tomato-y and spicey than normal but still creamy. Dal was soupier and had black beans & was more flavorful than I'm used to. Naan was top-notch, very buttery and soft with the slightly crisp outermost layer you rarely get. The peas on top of the basmati rice were fresh, not frozen - yay! I got the "Kitchen Samosa" which is kind of like nachos - 3 veggie samosas, buried under a delicious chick pea sauce with cheese. Did not expect to like but it was fab. I got to-go but seating area was very attractive, as was the bar. The staff I spoke with were very nice. Photo is not attractive, but I shot it as an afterthought. read more

the food is a full five stars; I ordered for pickup, so i can't comment on service (except that the order was correct and ready when I arrived). Looks like a pretty good wine selection - should be posted on the website. Personally, I prefer a full bar, but I get it... Weaknesses - $30 for lamb vindaloo - delicious but excessive pricing, Equivalent chicken dishes ~$10 cheaper. In fact the uploaded menu doen't even list prices. Additional cost for rice (w/some spice/peas added). Samosas were perfect. Lamb as well. Chicken tikka masala surpisingly spicy (in a good way) but felt like the chicken was pre-cooked separately. Sauce was delicious. Breads were terrific. We need a good indian restaurant in this end of the valley. Check it out. read more

I have to agree with the foodies that this is as good as it gets. Hands down this is the best Indian food in the valley. The downside is the cost $$$$. Would I go there again? Absolutely. They were upfront with the difficulties they were experiencing, impacting our slightly extended wait time. The night we visited, they turned away 6-8 tables due to internet related issues. I don't know how many call-in orders they lost. We were the lucky 3 tables that got our orders in before the problems began. They re-opened when we were leaving. The service was excellent. read more

Horrible!!!! Disgusting service. They say no strollers to get away with it legally - but they said no kids allowed in the restaurant. That is discrimination. Vile and horrible mean condescending owner. Stay away. We didn't get greeted, he looked at the kids (no babies - all teenagers) and the sent us away like we were appalling creatures. You don't want a crappy person cooking and serving you food. There are better Indian places. Last night we had an wonderful experience at the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the owner and staff were very attentive. I had called earlier and was told they were short of staff, but we never felt it. There were 3 of us and we shared three dishes and ordered a few appetizers which were delightful. Don't miss the cauliflower appetizer. The best I have tasted. Don't miss out on a wonderful experience. Be patient and kind, and you will be treated well.
