Nothing Indian about this kitchen. Literally luke warm garbage. We ended up being the only people in the restaurant last night. Server and her assistant were both very awkward manager or owner whoever just leaning in the bar making jokes with the girls the whole 45 minutes we were there laughing loudly to come to our table and whisper at us. Food sucked you could tell everything was microwaved/reheated over priced small portions. Chicken tikka Marsala tasted like boxed sweet tomato basil soup with cold chunks of chicken breast thrown into it. Nann may have been cooked properly at sometime if it's life . Nothing was fresh. We didn't even have the food. And with the attitude shown by either the owner or manager I wouldn't want to either. We got there and the first thing they asked was if our kids were well behaved. We thought it was superb! We've had Indian food both here (US) and London and this ranked right near the top! Cute little place in IW shopping center (next to new Sprouts). Hubby and I had a much needed date night. Owner Neel was very personable and helpful. Had the Samosas, Manglalorian Chicken, Mint Chicken, Sag Paneer, Garlic Naan and a delicious French Sauvignon Blanc. Took home plenty for dinner tomorrow night. Would definitely recommend! read more

The food, the food, the food! My husband and I love Indian food and this was among the best we've ever had. Perfectly spicy with a well balanced flavor, no ingredient was overpowered by any other. The owner was wonderful in communicating that they are newly opened and it would take awhile for our food, but it was just a short wait and was well worth it. The unique buffalo mozzarella cheese naan is a must! Get it, you will not regret it. Beyond the food, the beer and wine selection was quite large, the location has plenty of parking and the music playing was a great selection. It really felt like a high end dinner option. They also have to go options and seemed to be pretty busy with those, as well. read more

Craving Indian food? We were in this place was awesome. There's not many great choices in the desert but this is my new favorite. When we pulled into the parking lot, we could smell the rich spices and just the aroma got me hooked. The chicken tandoori was uniquely balanced; you can the tomato expression and a hint of exotic spices. The dueling flavors made it so good. The chicken tikka was also delicious and the paneer was exceptional; creamy but just right and flavorful. The cheese naan was so yummy. The mistake I made was going there when I was starving. We ordered a lot of food and we ate nearly everything. I read reviews about the portion size and I have to say, they appeared small yet they were very filling. I think as Americans, we want and expect humongous portions. But we should recognize that when we dying out with people that are from other cultures, we should expect just enough to satisfy our pallet. We really shouldn't criticize the portion size. Another thing to remember is that this restaurant is in Indian Well, One of the most prestigious areas in the valley, therefore you should expect to pay higher prices. If you are a true foody, this would not be an issue because the value is in the flavor. If you expect freebies like steamed rice and papadan, go somewhere else. Food is served a la carte! Last but least, remember this is a very challenging time for restaurants so be patient, understand their staffing short and the excessively long long hours that they are working to make you are well served. What a fabulous addition to Indian Wells. We have dined at Indian Kitchen several times and each visit seems to get better. The food is expertly prepared and the flavors are complex and delicious. You must try their Vidaloo and Mangalorean sauces, amazing samosas and naan....Wow! Their wine and beer selection is extensive, service is attentive and friendly and they play great jazz! What an amazing meal and wonderful service we had! My hubby ordered his fave, chicken Tikka Masala which was phenomenal and I went for Neel, the owner's favorite, Mint Chicken which was a great flavor combination so fresh, and a side of Raita. All the flavors were on pointe, enjoyed conversation with our server and the owner. Service was above and beyond, which is rare these days. And to top if off we had homemade apple pie a la mode! Delicious Indian food in the Coachella Valley! The service is slow but worth the wait. We came right when it opened on New Year's Eve, and it took a good 40 minutes to get served despite being the first customer. Ordered the Chana masala, onion naan, papadam, and malai kofta, and they were all super satisfying and filling! The rice doesn't come with the curries so we ordered a side for $5 enough for two people to split. Indian Kitchen is a wonderful gem in Indian Wells--wish it were closer to Palm Springs. read more

Living in the desert, I often get asked where folks can find good Indian food (I'm of Indian decent)...Let me tell you, this place has great food! It's on the pricier side, but as a fellow restaurateur- I totally understand why. Great ethnic food is hard to find around here. This place is legit! The just right portions are rich, flavorful and spiced just right. Don't let all the "rules" dissuade you... the owner wants a certain vibe and that's ok. You can always do take out and eat the delicious food in the comfort of your own home too. But, the space is inviting and staff are great, eating here is just as delightful - especially for a fun couples night out. We have known the owner for many years and adore him. We've known that was his restaurant but it's a long drive down the hill so we never made time. Friday night it was time. We were there at 5:00 exactly. It was already starting to fill up. The servers are so nice. It's a casual relaxed desert atmosphere. My favorite!! Started with a "surprise us" appetizer. Yum! My favorite of the whole meal. Great beer and wine selection. We each had something different and shared. We ordered two different types of Naan. The one with cheese. Oh yum. Finished the meal with BREAD PUDDING. HOLY COW!!! They do a huge take out business. No children. My favorite NO CELL PHONES. We actually had to talk to each other YEAH!! This place sucks! The two times that I've been here I've been super disappointed. The food is not authentic Indian. It's Indian-ish. The food feels very heavy and lacks flavor and texture. I have now tried four stews, the fried cauliflower, the rice and the bread. The fried cauliflower was a huge disappointment because I was so looking forward to them. They were caked with batter and deep fried to a burnt crisp. The rice is undercooked, and the bread was just OK. The stews were terrible. I don't understand why they can't figure out how to make authentic high-quality Indian food. The server wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu and I think based on her suggestion, I ordered the wrong item. I think the servers need to be educated about that food items on the menu. A couple of desserts we wanted to order weren't available because we were told they weren't made. There's just a lot of things about this restaurant that could be better. Having moved from Los Angeles 12 years ago , have tried a few in the desert and have been very dissapointed until Indian Kitchen opened in Indian Wells . If you love Indian food , this is the go to new restaurant . The owner Neel is ever present and charming , always making sure his guests get the best service, attention and fabulous food. Staff is professional, friendly and courteous as well . Restaurant has a wonderful selection of wines and specialty beers. Restaurant is classy, intimate and reflects the true nature of his background and experience. Great menu with lots to choose from . I have tried several dishes and they have all been amazing, but the highlights for me are the Tandori Chilean sea bass as the portion is most generous, and the Chicken Mangalorean , ( both to die for ). Appetizers of vegetable samosa , the naan breads are all wonderful , but my favorite is the cheese Naan, with smoked mozzarella from Italy . With signature sauces to compliment his dishes and beautiful presentation the owner Neel shows off his expertise and passion for food with all of his dishes and recipes . Must try it for yourself , as you will not be dissapointed . Leave room for dessert because the dessert menu will have you wanting to order one of everything . Quite phones, no children under the age of 8 and no stroller policy is a plus as this is a very quaint restaurant with a quiet and romantic atmosphere that I enjoy very much . What amazing food!! Tonight we ordered take-out from this wonderful new Indian restaurant in Indian Wells. As vegetarians, we are very familiar with really great Indian food, and this wonderful new little gem did not disappoint!!! We had the Chana Masala, Saang Paneer and Cauliflower Fritters for an appetizer. We were completely blown away!!! Often when ordering take-out, the food is just not the same as dine-in, nor is it hot! Our food was hot and amazingly delicious! We highly recommend the Indian Kitchen! It is also very fairly priced. AVOID this place at all costs... we had a HORRIBLE experience! First of all, the chair was probably the most uncomfortable chair I've ever sat on in a restaurant. (Tells me they want you to leave asap!) We ordered wine, an appetizer and naan and wanted to share an entree. (We weren't very hungry at this point.) Best Indian meal I've had in a long time and for sure best in the area. I had the chicken Mangalorean upon the recommendation of the owner (pair any protein with this sauce) ... well spiced without being overly "hot". I enjoy heat but this was so good more heat was unnecessary. The ingredients are clearly top quality, prepared with care utilizing great recipes... not even a hint of grease or oil in the sauce. I see some negative reviews about price and portion size which I get but if you appreciate quality I doubt you will be bothered. read more

My wife and I visited this restaurant last week and were beyond sorely disappointed with the experience. The owner/manager was rude, certainly disagreeable, and after we were served with an initial appetizer, samosa, we tasted it and to our total surprise and disgust, it was full of ice granules and had never been heated. There was no apology whatsoever and the manager mumbled with an air of haughtyness, "I'll get a new order or you can leave if you prefer. At his implied suggestion, we got up to leave in total disbelief. Insultingly, he charged us for two cokes which we had not drunk. We have eaten in Indian restaurants all over the world and were looking forward to trying the Indian Kitchen. We would have stayed if there had been any resemblance of "our mistake, please stay and we'll insure that your dining experience will be a good one." My advice to other desert people looking to enjoy quality Indian cuisine ........Avoid this poor excuse of a restaurant! read more
