My wife and I randomly discovered this little place a few weeks ago and have totally fallen in love with it. We have only eaten their vegetarian rotis but as a meat eater, I don't miss eating meat when I eat their food. We've only had take-out. The construction of their rotis is quite good. If you want to save 1/2 for the next day, it is just as good; it does not rip apart or become so soggy that it becomes a stew. You can easily miss it as you walk by as it is small, but make an effort to stop by. You will hardly go broke as their prices are more than reasonable. read more

If you love spicy Indian food, you have to eat here! For their dishes, they offer a 6 point spice scale and it is actually very spicy. We ordered the vegetable pakora, butter chicken roti, and the lamb biryani. Even though this place is small, the food has a lot of flavour. The majority of their customers order their food to go, but the lady who works there provides service regardless. Price is fair and their portions are quite big. We would recommend this restaurant hands down. read more

I haven't experienced a lot of roti, but when it's this good, who cares?! The butter chicken roti will knock your pants off! Saag paneer is a close second. Various spice levels to meet anyone's preference. I'm Korean so i can handle my spice, and medium to spicy was enough to feel the heat but not burn my taste-buds and yet still sooo tasty. Gets better with every bite. For most, i would recommend starting medium (which is still quite spicy) and working your way up because let's be real, you'll be back for more. Service is friendly and quick. Take out is good with adequate portion sizes for leftovers... And still good the next day. Enjoy! read more

The Indian Roti Kitchen is an all-in-one-roti-roll kind of place. The plates include a large roti with your choice of filling. Options are what you would see as entrees in a traditional Indian restaurant--tikka masala, aloo gobi, daal, etc. The flavors are very good, a definite plus. However, for us, being that everything was wrapped up together, burrito or calzone style, our plates were a bit one-dimensional for our tastes. The portions are large at a good price--a perk for most, I'm sure. For us though, when every bite of that large portion is the same, the dish can become slightly boring over the course of the meal. Clearly the main issue we had was that the style in which the food was served was not our preference. That aside, the cuisine is authentic and tasty, with friendly service. read more

So, this place just opened shortly before the end of 2013. They don't have a website, or any social media presence. You could call that...authentic. I figured I'd give them a little Yelp help. This is going to be a short review, as I've only been there once, but I did dine in - and was happy with what I got. Portion sizes are big - at least the roti. It was evident that the roti bread was made in house, and it was great. It was light, fluffy, and made an attractive roti. The filling was authentic. I couldn't complain - though, I was left desiring a little more vegetables. Perhaps I'll just do a vegetarian roti next time. One thing that also speaks to their authenticity is their "pickles". I had some of these East Indian pickles growing up - and again for one of my best friend's weddings - and they're not for everyone. Try at your own risk. They're hot, like, really hot, and will give your stomach and run for its money if you don't know what you're getting into. I'd go there again for sure. I'd order takeout too - roti is great, and theirs could easily become 2 meals. What you see is what you get though, if you've walked by. This place is tiny so not ideal for a sit down meal, they only have three tables and one is used for takeout bags which is kind of ridiculous but there you have it. The food is amazing! I had goat saag roti and it was so much food, I took half of it home and reheated it the next day (still super delish) I would go back, but pre-order it and take it home. read more

From what I've read, I was prepared for the "roti" here to be a flour tortilla, but I thought I could get past that as long as the filling was good. Well, I tried their Aloo Gobi Roti and there were no flavours of Aloo Gobi. Instead, it was very tomato-y with a strange overpowering heat. I enjoy heat, but not heat alone for the sake of it. I didn't request a spice level, nor was I prompted to select one, as I ordered online. But this was like drinking Sriracha straight with no chaser--yes, I said Sriracha. For whatever reason, it had a flavour resembling Sriracha. I'm sure it wasn't--it couldn't be, right? But whatever it was took over the dish in a wholly unpleasant way. Maybe I just ordered the wrong item or ordered it at the wrong time (near closing), but I won't be trying them again. read more

If you're a food snob, you won't like this place. It's bland and the texture is not appetizing. The vegetables were almost raw even though the curry was boiling hot. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. But it did seem very popular for take-out. The phone was ringing off the hook. And people were coming in constantly to pick up orders. If you want delicious Indian food go to chutney villa on Broadway. Also, I'm a vegetarian so i can't speak to the meat dishes. read more

They started out as an amazing pickup spot with consistent quality and fresh ingredients, but as it often happens to popular cafes they became sloppy over time and the last two times i've ordered from them ingredients were missing from my dishes and they tasted old. Every roti I've had here has been amazing. Incredible value, great selection + 5 spice levels to choose from. Lamb Saag roti is especially amazing. Everything made fresh and with fresh ingredients. We ordered take the following items for take-out at dinner. Spice level of 2 (out of 6) were spicy enough. Equivalent to 3 chili peppers at Thai house. 1) Lamb biryani - good flavour, not too much lamb. 2) Chicken curry with rice - good flavour 3) Button chicken with rice - a bit bland, sauce was very light in colour and not much chicken 4) Shahi shrimp roti - outstanding. Great sauce and flavour. Shrimp was not overcooked. Definitely would order again. 5) Aloo gobi roti - good flavour, fresh potatoes and cauliflower. Conclusion: The rotis were more tasty than the rice dishes. The portions were large. We will definitely be back. read more

This place is a great little spot for fast, inexpensive indian food especially if you like a bit of heat. Faves would be the lamb curry roti and the saag paneer roti. I consider myself moderately tolerant of spicy food (I.e. I can eat most korean dishes comfortably, but numbing-hot szechuan hot pot gets a little dicey), and I like level 3. The top level is 6, so choose wisely. The pakoras and chaat are also very tasty additions, although the size of the rotis guarantees you'll need to share and you will probably have leftovers too. read more

I have to say this is by far, the best Indian food I had in Vancouver. The potion is huge! I tried the spiciest level and it really satisfied my taste buds! Ordered the Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Curry, it didn't disappoint us! The meat are chunky and I heard you can substitute cauliflower instead of potatoes but will try it next time! Awesome awesome awesome!!! Hole in the wall, right near my place, and I had never seen it before. Found it on Yelp, and decided to try it. The venue only has two tables, but somehow we got a seat right away. However, in the time we ate there, maybe 30 people came in to get take-out, and for a good reason. This is the only place I go for roti... I get the chicken Madras. No spicy but if you like spice by all means. The service is very pleasant. I wish they had longer hours though. It's a bit pricy for a student but absolutely worth it. 15 -20$ per person I usually spend 10$ or less on eating out enjoying great cheap eats =] read more

It's good and efficient for what they do. Nice lady working in the front. It's not fancy food but it'll satisfy you when you want some curry or butter chicken wrapped in a really well done wrap. Good for takeout or eat in. It is quite spicy though because they are big portions, a level 4 had my mouth burning a bit at the end and I can eat very spicy foods. read more

Top notch. Decided to pay a visit yesterday as I had never had a Roti before, and was craving some Indian food. The small restaurant was not drab, clean and nice on the inside. I ordered a Saag Aloo Roti to go. The kind lady at the front said it'd be about 15 minutes (accurate). I was surprised at the weight of the package. The Roti was incredibly delicious, spicy but not too hot. Wonderful flavours and aromas. Very large serving size. I'm a mid 20s male and trust me - these are generous servings. I ate about half of the roti and put the rest in the fridge (which was later consumed that evening). Will be going back soon to try one of their non-vegetarian Rotis. If you like Roti, this is a great place to load up on one! Big big rotis await. I ordered a Chicken Korma Roti (rich cashew based korma sauce), a Baingan Bhurtha Roti (eggplant, sautéed with herbs and green peas) along with a side of vegetable pakoras for 2 and that was a lot of food. Could get away splitting one roti between 2 people! Very tasty food and the staff/owners were very cheery and happy to describe the menu items. They were even going to let me pay next time I came in when my credit card wouldn't go through the first 2 attempts.
