Love their food. One of my favorite dish there is the Chicken Tikka Masala. The service is great. The staffs are very friendly.

Some people where I work don't like this place but I finally went for the lunch buffet and go there regularly now. It may not be the BEST Indian food but I like the mix they put out for the buffet. Many times when I go to an Indian buffet, I'll only try the chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. The mix here which includes those items as well as chicken curry and other kabob meats and naan is perfect for me. read more

My friend and I went in the other night for dinner and really enjoyed it. I don't do buffets b/c I always feel like I have to "get my moneys worth" and then I end up being so sick. This way we both had dinner and lunch the next day. We ordered 1) the spinach and cheese Naan and we really enjoyed it 2) Veggie samosas- they were good, a little different than what I had in the past but we liked them. I think it had more potato than usually but to be honest I've only had them once before. 3) Chicken Tikka Masala- the sauce was really good, in my opinion there should have been more chicken for $12 but it was good and we had plenty of food so we weren't needing to eat more but would have been nice to have a little left over for lunch the next day. I will be ordering this again. 4) Eggplant Bharta- this was really good, I loved it. It is more of a puree than chunks of eggplant, I've never had this before so this may be the traditional way it is served. Either way it was delicious. 5)Alloo Gobhi- a Cauliflower dish also very good. I really enjoyed everything very much, the service was great and they were very friendly. The ambiance is very nice though I would have prefered the lights to be dimmer so it didn't feel cafeteria like. They are also on www.restaurants.com so you can get a discounted certificate so you can try it out. We paid $2 for a $25 certificate at restaurants.com so with tax and tip (for the restaurants.com certificate they automatically add 18% which as a former waitress is more than fine by me) the totally came to $28 and change. The customer service is above and beyond here! I've begun frequenting this place because my chiropractor is across the street. When I'm off work, I sometimes haven't eaten yet before I see him. I usually go to the L & L, but ever since Indian Summer opened-- I now always grab a bite there when I get a chance. The owner is so sweet. The first time I came in he gave me a free gulab jamun dessert and offered me tea. The next time he gave me a sweet rice dessert. The food is also excellent! I always get the saag paneer... but all the dishes are excellent really. read more

A little overpriced for what they offer, particularly at dinner time. The lunch buffet is slightly less overpriced.. Nothing there seems as good as similar places around here. Their naan is good, but it seems to be rationed. It is always in short supply, and it seems planned that way, whether the place is filled or not. It does not speak well for the place when my recollection is that the bread is good. Nothing else comes to mind. We go north to Playa Del Rey for better Indian food. read more

This is the third time my fiancé and I have had dinner here and it gets better every time. The eggplant is awesome and we have become addicted to the lamb dishes and especially lamb naan. The staff is very friendly and restrooms are clean and fresh. The temperature inside is nice and warm when it is freezing outside so it makes our meal taste extra good. We look forward to trying more of the dishes..but will probably continue to have the ones we love already. read more

This a great hole in the wall. I ordered the half a chicken lunch special for $7.99 and the roasted chicken was some of the best I've ever had. Juicy, perfectly cooked skin and flavorful. The old location further down Main Street had a wonderful, huge dining room. I am not sure what circumstances caused them to move to this location, which is now just a take-out place. My guess is that (like everywhere else in the SouthBay), the a-hole owner raised their rent. But in any event, I am glad they are still in business, because this place has AWESOME INDIAN CUISINE! The chicken tikka was fantastic, high quality chicken that had great spice to it. My friends who are actually Indian (i.e. born and raised in India) also love this place, so you know it is legit. And the prices are not bad at all for such quality food. read more

I had the chicken masala with garlic Nan. Very yummy!! The garlic Nan was one of the best I ever had and I've been to many Indian food places. It's a small place but the service and pricing is hard to beat. They cater to a lot of delivery as they have just one round table with 2 chairs. Definitely check it out. read more

Tried the lunch buffet and later dinner. The lunch buffet is a terrific deal at $7.95 and surprisingly good. Dinner is even better. If you live in one of the beach cities or north of LAX, it's convenient, easy parking, and very attentive staff. The food is very good and most lunch buffets are not, but this one is. Fantastic! We have been customers for years - This is the best curry house in LA and we have tried several. The food is seasoned to your taste and always fresh and tasty- be you needing it spicy Madras or mild Korma-in short it's the best! Top go-to location for eating at work. Not only do they truly have the best priced Indian food, but they really have consistently the best tasting food. I've eaten at many Indian and Pakistani restaurants in the area, so my comparison is for El Segundo, Hawthorne, Lawndale and Westchester. In addition, the staff is super friendly. My top favs are lamb curry, tika masala and aloo gobi. Gralic na'an and garlic chile na'an are amazing. It is made to order every time I've ever been here. read more

Pleasantly surprised. Came on a whim with coworkers and a lot of the items weren't out yet. We go what we could. There were 2 big parties in there so the food went fast. We were unable to get seconds since they had to make more food. This was on a weekday at 11 which struck me as odd. Spoke to another coworker who says this is common. The food was good and there's a decent variety. Just wish there was more food ready. I did not like the chicken in the tikka masala. It was cubes of dried chicken. read more

The lunch buffet here is cheap but you get what you pay for. Most of the hot meat and vegetable items here were decent tasting. Naan was cold and dry. But what completely turned me off was the Chicken tikka I found when I bit in to a piece of chicken and it was dry and hard. I had to spit it out. Dropped by for dinner on the way back to home tonight. Above my expectation for the price! Service was great. Chicken Tikka Masala, Tofu Saag, Spinach Naan and Regular Naan were all tasty. Chicken was moist, Tofu Saag was creamy and both were not too salty. With two large bottles (Kingfisher and Taj Mahal) of beer, about $40 for two was a pretty good deal. Small place, looks unassuming, but the food was great and cheap for the area. Decor could use an upgrade. A little out of place in Main St, El Segundo. Reminded me of those hole-in-the-wall doner kebab places in Rome. I had chicken masala. The sauce was creamy and it came with two slices of crispy naan bread. I also added a side of garbanzos in green sauce ( forgot the name). This was an excellent and healthy combination with yellow basmati rice cooked to perfection. This is the whole package. I used to come often when I worked nearby, and coming back on a Sat afternoon for buffet reaffirms why I like this place. 1). Consistency. They are on point with the chicken marsala, tandoori chicken, daal, pakora etc...and their naan looks made from scratch. 2) Price - their lunch buffet is 9.95 daily (Sat and Sun). Solid variety for the price. 3) Location - in downtown El Segundo. Need a quick place for a nice lunch before catching a flight at LAX? Location is 10 min from LAX. 4) Ambience - Bollywood videos? Check. Tables with gold tablecloth over red table cloth, with a class top? Check. They used to occupy two spaces but their downsizing their dining room and remodeling makes it an attractive place to eat. Food isn't too spicy, but the chutney has a strong kick, so a bit of that and one is good to go. read more

I enjoy Indian Summer. Sure the buffet menu rarely (if ever?) changes. Sure, it's not particularly cheap. I'll give you that much. But for 10 bucks, you leave stuffed and nothing is sub-par. The tikka masala is made with white meat. I've found that a lot of other similar Indian buffets use the random chicken parts they couldn't use in a la carte dishes in their buffets, so this is a plus. Now, this is kind of nit-picky, but the lids that Indian Summer uses to cover their buffet dishes suck. They don't sit right and they fall into the food themselves, often bringing the serving spoons along with them for the ride. I go here on Saturdays every month or so. Indian Summer is my favorite place to go for Indian cuisine. I've been to several Indian restaurants in the area, including India's Tandoori, Bombay Tandoori, and Annapurna Garden Place, but nothing quite measures up to my experiences with this place. Indian Summer is only second to the (tragically) now-closed Chicken Madras (which then changed to Guru Palace and is now India's Tandoori). I've been to Indian Summer four times now, and I try to make at least a once-a-month trip. The first time I went was a few months back on a dinner outing with my dad. He had seen an advert for Indian Summer, so we decided to give it a try, as it was somewhere we had never known about before. We were a little skeptical at first upon seeing few other patrons in the small restaurant on a Sunday evening, but we were not disappointed. We ordered hot chai tea and coffee to start. The chai was very lightly creamy, fragrant, and evenly spiced; it was even slightly sweet (likely due to cardamom) so I didn't feel like I needed to add more than one packet of sugar. The freshly-brewed coffee was rich and dark, and very fragrant. +1 for beverage quality. For an appetizer, chicken pakoras and vegetable samosas. The tender chicken of the pakoras was well-marinated and seasoned with tumeric and cilantro, and the besan breading was light and fluffy, and not at all greasy. The pastry of the samosas was golden-brown and flaky, and the mashed potatoes and peas were savory. I was expecting chickpeas instead of green peas, but I was not disappointed as the peas were not too sweet. +1 for appetizer quality For the main course, chicken korma and chicken makhani with basmati rice, with plain and garlic naan on the side. I was pleased to see that the rice was seasoned with tumeric, as many Indian places will only serve plain rice. The chicken in both dishes was tender and delicious, and I appreciated that the pieces were cut relatively small to distribute more meat throughout the sauce. Onto the subject of the sauce itself. -First, the korma: creamy and savory. The yogurt and flavors of cashew and spice blended together smoothly, resulting in a delicious copper-colored dish. -Second, the makhani: onion and complex spice with a zingy tomato kick. I had never tried a makhani dish before, and I found myself wondering how I had ever lived without it before. I can't praise this dish enough; it's such an incredible whirlwind of spices and flavors. The flavors of onion, butter, peppers, and (dare I suggest, lest I be wrong) tomato complement one another amazingly. The plain naan was light and soft, with just the right amount of blackened patches from the tandoor oven. The garlic naan was fragrant and quite garlicky, with a reasonable amount of butter (or oil, I wasn't sure which; though it was light). +1 for main course quality We ended up having some of each dish left in the serving platters after we were content, which we placed in a to-go box for enjoyment the next day. The waiter then surprised us with a complementary order of warm gulab jamun (lightly fried spheres of spongy dough in a sweet rose syrup). I had eaten gulab jamun before at Indian buffets, but it had always been chilled and very sweet. I was surprised at how delightful the dessert tasted warm, and Indian Summer's rendition was lighter on the sweetness, which showcased the flavors of rose and honey (which I had never before noticed was the dessert's flavor). +1 for dessert The waiters were very attentive, and pleased to answer my questions about the relevance of the names to the dishes (I learned that korma describes a yogurt and spice sauce, while makhani describes a butter-and-onion-based sauce that is red in color). The price was reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. +1 for service Another visit resulted in trying the shrimp coconut curry, which was sweet and sumptuous with a great coconut flavor, and the vegetable salad, which was light and crisp with freshly-cut vegetables. The past two visits have resulted in a repeat of the first visit. I have only visited Indian Summer for dinner so far, but I hope to make it for the lunch buffet sometime soon so I can try more of the menu items. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Indian cuisine. read more
