This place is amazing!! Everything we ordered was fantastic!! We ordered the Veg Somosa's, Shrimp Manchurian, Chicken Korma, and Non-Veg Thali. 10/10!!! Took photo after we already started eating.

Stumbled across this new place on my morning walk. Went back at night to pick up take out. Was greeted by the owner along with his wife. Very welcoming, absolutely great people. It's a nice cozy spot tucked in the corner of a shopping mall right off Manchester and Osage. Easy parking. I've tried just about every Indian cuisine in LA, needless to say I now have a new favorite.

My husband and I were delighted to discover Spiceland after our favorite Indian restaurant in El Segundo closed. It had only been open for 3 days on the night that we went. We ordered the lamb rogan josh, tandoori chicken and saag paneer (medium spicy level) which were all delicious, but I was particularly blown away by the garlic naan; so crispy and buttery! The chai tea reminds me of the many cups I had in India and at the homes of my parents' friends. The mall it's located in has an odd layout, but there is plenty of parking and the restaurant was easy to find.

Blue awning way in the corner!

YUMMM!!! What a great way to end the work week! It's been an insane week at work. I always pass by…read morethis place on the way home. Tonight I gave it a try for the first time. Score! For drinks I had the cucumber mint lemonade. It's their newest drink. So delicious! It's cold, refreshing, and delivers a burst of flavor in your mouth. A must try! For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself. I would just go to bed, wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it, then not be able to go back to sleep until I finished the rest because it would keep calling my name from the kitchen. Hahahaha. I didnt get to see the inside because I got it to go but I'll let you guys know in an update. The staff there is great and they seem like a very nice family. As I've always said, I'm a huge supporter of family businesses. I'm soooo happy I gave this place a shot. I am not only coming back, I'm definitely going to have them cater some of my parties. Enjoy!

Al-Noor could so easily be a 5, you hate to see it, but hopefully they can turn a couple moves in…read morethe kitchen and reach stardom. I'll start with the good: all the curries are fantastic. They're thick, they're flavorful, they hit you with the right spice. Normal spice is a white man's medium high so they got their base down which is more than half the battle. They cook the Paneer just right. And really enjoyed the Bartha! That The not so good: the chicken is way overcooked, I don't know if it's breast or thigh, but it definitely tasted like a dried out breast. Possibly using the tandoori and just dropping it into the gravy, but a perfectly cooked chicken thigh would take the chicken tikka masala to the moon. Second, the Paneer portion size was a joke. Maybe six cubes in the whole deal. Needs to be at least double. I'm ready to try again you gotta protect your meats!

Beetroot and peas cooked with a blend of spices and coconut. I love beetroot and have never eaten it cooked like this, it was a joy to find a new veggie dish :) I also ordered the Aloo Gobi which was full of spice and heat and the veggies were cooked to perfection. The Sambar and Milagu Rasam soups were amazingly tasty, both full of chillies, and spices, and very, very moreish. An absolute symphony of spice on the taste buds. Daughter shared the soups with me, and had her usual double order of crispy potato and pea filled samosas (she keeps half for lunch next day), along with the savoury bone in goat curry, her fave. Can't wait to visit her again so I can have another Indian dinner with Southern Spice. I already know what I want to try next....egg curry and Medhu Vada :)

I personally thought the flavor was really good, though it's worth noting that my South Indian friend who came with me felt the food was just okay. The main downside is that the overall selection is a bit smaller than other Indian buffets I've been to. Normally, you can expect to see a goat or lamb dish, but they only had chicken options available for the meat. Even with the slightly limited selection and missing lamb, it's still a satisfying meal and a good value for the price. If you're in the mood for a solid Indian lunch buffet, it's worth a visit.

Mee tomyam: the lemongrass shined through and even though I was eating this soup during the summer it was quite nice. One reviewer described the place as "barren," and honestly, it is quiet and low-key. But that's part of the charm for me. Not every restaurant needs to be another overly curated, gentrified "hip" spot with hip signs and then charge an arm and a leg for the food. Something is refreshing about the tranquility here, a calm place where you can actually enjoy your meal and conversation. The place is also very clean. The owner is also incredibly friendly, and I enjoy chatting with him. This place has soul. My rating is solely on the food, consistent with all reviews. More importantly, the food delivers solid value, especially given that everything is halal, and the menu blends Malaysian, Burmese, Thai, and other Southeast Asian influences. Kueh Teow Goreng - 3/5. This dish is essentially the Malaysian/Indonesian cousin of Pad See Ew. The noodles were well-balanced in flavor - savory without becoming overly salty - and the beef was tender and paired nicely with the dish. The rice noodles are fresh. While it didn't quite reach the smoky "wok hei" heights that make the best versions unforgettable, it was still satisfying and thoughtfully prepared. Goat Curry - 3/5. I also tried the goat curry, which I enjoyed quite a bit. They use the right cuts of goat meat: tender, bone-in pieces that add depth and richness to the curry. The spice balance was good and comforting without overpowering the dish. I do wish the curry had a bit more tang and heartiness to push it to the next level, but overall, it was flavorful and enjoyable. The naan served alongside it was fresh, though I personally would've liked it a little fluffier. Overall, Mutiara Food & Market serves good, honest food at affordable prices. It may not be flashy, but it offers something increasingly rare: comforting halal Southeast Asian food in a peaceful, unpretentious setting.

If you love Middle Eastern-inspired flavors, you need to try Bombay Pizza House. I had heard great…read morethings from reviews and even had family member recommend their pizza, so we finally decided to give it a shot. For our first visit, my daughter suggested the Tandoori Tikka Pizza (Tandoori Chicken). We also ordered the Halal Chicken Wings, Garlic Naan, and a small salad. Right away, the smell when you walk in is incredible, and the staff greets you immediately, which made a great first impression. Now for the food -- the pizza was delicious with the perfect amount of toppings. The sweet and tangy BBQ sauce really brought everything together. I personally would've liked a little more cheese, but the crust was cooked perfectly with a nice chewy texture. The wings were another standout that both my wife and I really enjoyed. Slightly crispy on the outside while still delicate and moist inside, with a mild heat from the spices that wasn't overpowering. The naan was decent with a good garlic flavor, although it was a bit thin for my preference. The salad was fresh and delicious -- we always appreciate having plenty of vegetables with our meals. Overall, definitely recommend checking them out. Next time we're planning to try the Butter Chicken Pizza.

First time customers deserve better:…read more My husband and I visited for the first time recently. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, and our server invited us to choose any table. She immediately brought over two bottles of water and asked if it was our first visit. We said yes. She went over the menu in some detail. She did not ask if we wanted a drink, nor did she mention that the bottled water she had already placed on our table would be added to the bill. We ordered the lamb tikka pizza and the bhindi masala. The food was decent, but not remarkable. Portions felt a bit light for the price. The pizza crust was more like a crunchy pita, and the toppings were sparse. The okra was decent. Overall, I'd give the food 3 stars. The reason for my 1-star review is the way the restaurant handles water. We were automatically given bottled water before we had even looked at the menu, and at no point were we told there would be a charge. When the bill arrived, we discovered we'd been charged $1.50 for each 12-ounce plastic bottle. We had three, for a total of $4.50. This isn't about the money. It's about transparency. In most restaurants, water is provided as a courtesy, so presenting bottled water immediately to first-time customers without mentioning a charge feels misleading. If bottled water is the only water option available, that should be clearly communicated upfront. To make matters worse, there's a prominent sign stating that outside beverages are not allowed, which presumably includes bringing your own water bottle. After paying our bill and leaving a 20% tip, we suggested that first-time customers be informed about the water charge when they're seated. The response was a shrug and, "It's in the menu." Maybe it is. But if you're going to place bottled water on the table before customers have even opened the menu, the courteous thing to do is mention that it isn't complimentary. A simple heads-up would have avoided the entire issue.
