This is a hole in the wall kind of Indian Food. There's no frills about it. They have a beautiful Naan Oven where the new owners Jay and Kim took over about two months ago. The chicken Masala is the must try here and of course the Naan. You can't skip on the lamp curry or the paneer saag too. For $17-$19 you get a complete meal of one protein, one side, naan and a soda. Trust me that's like eating two meals when it's all said in done. I was able to visit inside their clean kitchen and witness their cooking process. Jeez there a lot of work involved but so worth it to wait for the piping hot food. So if you're in the neighborhood give this small mom and pop a shot and see if it's worth your time and money when you're flying out of LAX or live near by.

What a Turnaround! Indian Summer Grill is Back and Better Than Ever! I had left a 2-star review in the past due to some disappointing experiences with previous owners, but I'm thrilled to say that Indian Summer Grill is now under new ownership--and the difference is night and day! The new owners are incredibly kind, attentive, and truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The food has also gotten a serious upgrade. Everything ordered was bursting with flavor, fresh, and clearly made with care. You can tell there's pride in what they're serving now, and it shows in every bite. If you had a less-than-great experience in the past, like I did, give them another shot--you won't regret it. Major props to the new owners at Indian Summer Grill. You've completely turned this place around!

First time trying Indian food so I was recommended to play it safe and get butter chicken or the chicken tikka masala which are very popular. When I got there my first option was the butter chicken but unfortunately they ran out so I went with the tikka masala. The serving was so big lots of chicken lots of sauce and lots of rice all very flavorful and creamy it was a good experience for my first time trying Indian food so now Im excited to expand into more options. O and that garlic naan is made fresh right there and it is just so soft and hot and garlicky which I loved

1 protein 1 side combo plate: Chicken and Saag Paneer. Medium spicy. (Not shown: naan)

I live in El Segundo and it is just an excellent place for lunch. Their naan bread is insanely good. They make everything fresh as far as I can tell. They're always very nice and grateful. Some recent improvements to the interior. Highly recommend for your next Indian food craving.

Exceptional service & food. Owners are kind but when you ask for spicy, they definitely know what they're talking about. Also with every a la carte entrée you order, you get free, naan bread, rice and a drink. 10/10 with flying colors. Don't sleep on their Mango Lassi!

Tried for the first time recently, the service was great and staff was friendly howeverrr the food itself was actually pretty terrible. It was actually inedible im never one to complain but it was just money thrown in the trash .

Solid spot for good Indian food! Takeout only, no frills type of place but it's great. Good food and super friendly staff and clean! Great Veg Samosas and the Tamarind Sauce was excellent. Chicken Combo plate is real good. Masala has nice layers of flavor that run deep! Chicken could have been more tender but it was good. The Grilled Veggies were awesome....nice and fresh and slightly crisp and seasoned perfectly. Lots of Rice! Had a bite of the Veg Masala and that was great too...real good smoke flavor! This place is on its way to a 5.Star rating....

Chicken tikka masala bowl - lots of rice, lots of chicken, lots of chunks of spices to unpleasantly bite into, and practically no sauce.

I've been going there for many, many years. Even after moving away from El Segundo, I stop by this place for my favorite Indian food whenever I'm nearby. Today is the first time I've been disappointed. The place reeked of cigarette smoke, like someone was smoking in their tiny kitchen or right out back. It was nauseating. The only person I saw working was super grumpy and barely said a word to me. The food tasted good. It always does. But one of the great things about chicken tikka masala is that rich delicious sauce that you dip your naan into and my bowl had very little. Not enough to dip a corner of the bread! The chicken portion was generous but also very, very dry. So the dish was begging for more sauce. Also, I kept crunching on big hunks of spice like star anise or cloves - it's a pretty potent and unpleasant thing to bite into. Next time I'm in the area, I'm not sure Indian Summer will be one of my stops. They seem to be going downhill... certainly very far from the days of tablecloths and outstanding service when they were on the other side of town.

6/26/23. Good portion + flavor. Tikka, saag, rice, naan. Express lunch post run. Day after ZNP trip with sweet fh. $12.

Holy crap, Batman. I just discovered a hidden gem. $12.00. Express lunch. Tikka, saag (the real star of the meal), naan. Best post run meal ever. No nonsense. Order. Be respectful and wait patiently as you watch the chef freshly bake your naan. Samosas also freshly cooked and will take 20 min. You're welcome, enjoy. I'll be back. Come support!

I personally thought the flavor was really good, though it's worth noting that my South Indian friend who came with me felt the food was just okay. The main downside is that the overall selection is a bit smaller than other Indian buffets I've been to. Normally, you can expect to see a goat or lamb dish, but they only had chicken options available for the meat. Even with the slightly limited selection and missing lamb, it's still a satisfying meal and a good value for the price. If you're in the mood for a solid Indian lunch buffet, it's worth a visit.

For drinks I had the cucumber mint lemonade. It's their newest drink. So delicious! It's cold, refreshing, and delivers a burst of flavor in your mouth. A must try! For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself. I would just go to bed, wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it, then not be able to go back to sleep until I finished the rest because it would keep calling my name from the kitchen. They're thick, they're flavorful, they hit you with the right spice. Normal spice is a white man's medium high so they got their base down which is more than half the battle. They cook the Paneer just right. And really enjoyed the Bartha! That The not so good: the chicken is way overcooked, I don't know if it's breast or thigh, but it definitely tasted like a dried out breast. Possibly using the tandoori and just dropping it into the gravy, but a perfectly cooked chicken thigh would take the chicken tikka masala to the moon. Second, the Paneer portion size was a joke. Maybe six cubes in the whole deal. Needs to be at least double. I'm ready to try again you gotta protect your meats!

The curry had a real kick, and I think milder would pair better with rice for smoother sailing. Overall, the food met our expectations. Interestingly, the momos actually tasted better the second day, the sauce felt more balanced after sitting overnight. We'd order from them again. Not a top-tier, must-save spot, but solid and dependable. My only real complaint is the garlic naan, $4.50 for about 1.5 smaller pieces felt skimpy. At that price, two full pieces would feel more reasonable. Naan is kind of foundational, like an Italian restaurant being stingy with bread. It just leaves a slightly off first impression.

Right away, the smell when you walk in is incredible, and the staff greets you immediately, which made a great first impression. Now for the food -- the pizza was delicious with the perfect amount of toppings. The sweet and tangy BBQ sauce really brought everything together. I personally would've liked a little more cheese, but the crust was cooked perfectly with a nice chewy texture. The wings were another standout that both my wife and I really enjoyed. Slightly crispy on the outside while still delicate and moist inside, with a mild heat from the spices that wasn't overpowering. The naan was decent with a good garlic flavor, although it was a bit thin for my preference. The salad was fresh and delicious -- we always appreciate having plenty of vegetables with our meals. Overall, definitely recommend checking them out. Next time we're planning to try the Butter Chicken Pizza.

First time customers deserve better:…read more My husband and I visited for the first time recently. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, and our server invited us to choose any table. She immediately brought over two bottles of water and asked if it was our first visit. We said yes. She went over the menu in some detail. She did not ask if we wanted a drink, nor did she mention that the bottled water she had already placed on our table would be added to the bill. We ordered the lamb tikka pizza and the bhindi masala. The food was decent, but not remarkable. Portions felt a bit light for the price. The pizza crust was more like a crunchy pita, and the toppings were sparse. The okra was decent. Overall, I'd give the food 3 stars. The reason for my 1-star review is the way the restaurant handles water. We were automatically given bottled water before we had even looked at the menu, and at no point were we told there would be a charge. When the bill arrived, we discovered we'd been charged $1.50 for each 12-ounce plastic bottle. We had three, for a total of $4.50. This isn't about the money. It's about transparency. In most restaurants, water is provided as a courtesy, so presenting bottled water immediately to first-time customers without mentioning a charge feels misleading. If bottled water is the only water option available, that should be clearly communicated upfront. To make matters worse, there's a prominent sign stating that outside beverages are not allowed, which presumably includes bringing your own water bottle. After paying our bill and leaving a 20% tip, we suggested that first-time customers be informed about the water charge when they're seated. The response was a shrug and, "It's in the menu." Maybe it is. But if you're going to place bottled water on the table before customers have even opened the menu, the courteous thing to do is mention that it isn't complimentary. A simple heads-up would have avoided the entire issue.

The noise level was higher than I expected. It was due to several families appeared to have run into each other and they were all standing around having loud conversations while being oblivious to other guests' personal space. As far as the food, the menu looked enticing offering upscale dishes with ingredients like truffle. Good concept; unfortunately the execution was a fail. The truffle mushroom kulcha had no truffle flavor; not even the 2 slices of truffle on top. The crust was quite tough; so much so that it was difficult to cut even with a steak knife. My jaw was sore after chewing on the crust for a while. The calamari was also quite tough and chewy. The purple potato ragda patty was the only dish I thought was decent. The black truffle jhinga biryani special was also completely void of truffle flavor and a bit overly salty. Then when the check came it had a "Surcharge Fee" of 3.5% without any explanation. It turned out to be a fee to help pay for the kitchen staff. This hit one of my pet peeves. Why is it not the restaurant's responsibility to pay their staff a fair wage? We are already paying for the meal and a 20% tip and they just sneaked in a mandatory "surcharge". While it was just a few dollars it was more of an issue of principles. Why not just be honest and have the guts to raise the prices of the dishes if they can't afford to pay the staff a fair wage?

It would be much better if the fried stuff was served on the side for the customer to add like when I have samosa soup. My family of Burmese food enthusiasts now likes to cite this restaurant as a bad place I had us eat during our trip to LA.
