hokkaido milk with matcha warabimochi which
    Jin H.

Knew I had to come back to Indigo Cow when I was back in LA, this time in the Echo Park location. Just as good as I remember, super creamy and a true milk forward taste that's hard to find out here. Tastes just like the milk soft serves I had in Japan! A lot of similar soft serve places that have milk flavors just end up tasting like vanilla or are too icy, but Indigo Cow has perfected their recipe. For Mother's Day they gave out a free topping, so I got to try their matcha warabimochi which had a great soft squishy texture. Will be getting that topping more often! Love that this location is walkable to the Echo Park lake.

Indigo cow is some of the best ice cream I've had in LA! The ice cream consistency is so smooth and not too heavy. Also, the mochi toppings seemed so fresh and paired really well with the ice cream! Love the matcha put on top! Would highly recommend !

Been here twice and I'll keep coming back for the mochi. Most places that serve ice cream won't have this kind of mochi when it comes to texture and freshness. The warabimochi and regular mochi are truly top quality, far better than any I've had at a dessert shop in LA, and best of all, they're not sweet. I think the MBR is the perfect topping combination because you get the texture of the mochi, the nuttiness from the Kinako powder and the subtle sweetness from the brown sugar syrup. I can see why it's their best seller, because on my first visit they were completely sold out of it!

Indigo Cow is a popular Seattle walk-up window known for its rich, creamy Hokkaido-style soft serve, made with milk imported from Japan originally from Seattle, WA. I chose milk & matcha flavor with M.B.R. Added on for $2. Best soft mochi, nice subtle sweet brown sugar syrup & roasted rice powder are earthy taste that I love. Umami! Nice clean with bathroom on site! Service is great as ordered the wait for your name called. I will definitely go back because of the taste & quality. I think it worth $ on this yummy soft serve.

I don't expect it to be this low rating imo but here's why: - The ice cream's shown cost around $9 and it's very little. This ice cream is extremely creamy for anyone that likes "extremely" creamy texture, for me I could only eat 3-4 spoons max because I get tired of it. - Service: The employee dont know how to do sundae order so the ice cream be standing there and melts while she figures out. The line is long but theres only 2 girls working. Summary: The costs + the taste + service not worth it in my opinion

I've been looking forward to trying Indigo Cow for a while now. The Hokkaido soft serve is out of this world. It's so creamy and pairs so well with their bestselling MBR toppings, including brown sugar, mochi balls, and soybean powder. I was also eyeing their matcha offerings too. The staff are polite and courteous. With late hours, this is a great spot for friends and late night hang outs. Though, there might be a line sometimes, it moves rather fast and the staff handles the crowds well. Regardless of what you get, this soft serve is one of the best in Los Angeles.

rly unique flavor! came all the way from sd for this wouldn't say it's particularly worth coming back for again tho parking is a bit rough at this location worth if u live nearby for a dessert after a dinner tho

Didn't know that this was a Hokkaido ice cream/soft serve. We found great street parking right in front and ordered the original milk flavor with the dark chocolate hard shell.   Friends ordered the matcha warabimochi that I guess sells out fast.   I did enjoy the creamy and light flavor of the soft serve. I felt somewhat healthier because of the Japan-sourced milk and how simple it was dressed.

hokkaido Milk soft serve in small cup

Food - 5/5 - I have a deep love for Hokkaido milk, so when I heard they had Hokkaido milk soft serve here, I was on a mission to try it. I ordered a small cup and I think that is the perfect amount considering the fat content of Hokkaido milk. The soft serve was just sweet enough and the milk flavor really came through. I was very happy with the creamy texture and flavor profile. I recommend stopping by if you have the chance and just getting it plain if you like the milk flavor. Price - $ - It's pretty average pricing for the most part. Expect $6 coffees or matchas and such, but I did find that the plain Hokkaido milk soft serve was more decently priced than expected. For a small cup of soft serve, it was about $4.50 before tax. Service - 4/5 - The server is pretty quick and very friendly. I just finished getting my receipt sent and she had our soft serve ready :) Ambiance - 4/5 - Very simple decor and the shop is quite small so there is seating but not a lot. It's very quaint though. Location - 1/5 - It's basically only street parking so be prepared to walk. It is located on a lively street though, so there's plenty of eats and stops to look at, but just be aware of the parking situation. ____________ **Note: Location rating does not affect yelp review, this is just for informative purposes of other patrons only.

    Small Matcha with mochi
    Mariam I.

The soft serve looks delicious but it's disappointing ice cream--which has a low bar to begin with. I got a small matcha soft-serve with mochi and everything was mid: the matcha flavor was meek, the texture of the ice cream was icy (not enough milk/cream content), and the mochi was simply not good. I was excited about this place but would not recommend, especially given how expensive it is and for a very small quantity ($8 for small, 1 mochi topping).

Small swirl soft serve with MBR topping
    Vicky H.

Simple yet delicious. The Hokkaido milk gives the soft serve deep flavor while staying relatively light as a dessert. I added the MBR topping and it was delicious!! The rice ball, brown sugar syrup, and roasted soybean powder were all present and paired so well with the soft serve. Small store with some bench and chair + table seating options.

Chocolate and hokkaido milk swirl with Belgian chocolate wall ice cream
    Kristy H.

Love that this location has chocolate ice cream! The one in Sawtelle has matcha instead of chocolate, but I think the swirl of chocolate and Hokkaido milk is such a good idea, even though it costs about $0.75 extra. I'm a big fan of the Belgian chocolate wall too! Also, this location has much more indoor seating and is more spacious than the one in Sawtelle. Parking can be harder though, but there is a parking lot behind the building with a pay station.

    Anna H.

I had high expectations for Indigo Cow after it blew up online, but none of the textures hit the mark. The soft serve for both Hokkaido milk and matcha flavors was too soft for my liking, and the matcha was also very icy. The mochi was too soft, even atop the cold soft serve. At this price point, I expect higher attention to detail. The matcha warabimochi was more appropriately chewy and the flavor of the Hokkaido milk was good. With no shortage of amazing soft serve spots in LA, I don't think I will be back.

Honey Affogato: 4/5 I usually go for items with caffeine and I wanted to like it more than I actually did. It was cold and refreshing at first but the coffee tasted a little too bitter towards the bottom of the cup. Dear Chocolate: 5/5 No notes other than, it was perfection. My friend mixed the chocolate well with the soft serve, and she liked the consistency and texture. It wasn't too sweet for her either. She also did not add the sea salt Sweetie: 5/5 The honeycomb "chunk" is chewy and had a more natural taste to it, if that is what you're into! Combined with the lightness of the soft serve, the Sweetie is a solid choice for the people who are looking for sweets that are not too sweet. Overall, this is a great spot for a sweet treat. This is a premium ice cream shop with milk/cream imported from a Korean dairy farm, as I was told by the gentleman who served me. Service was fantastic and informative. They offer about 6 flavors at a time and you can taste before choosing. All are delicious so it's difficult to choose. The texture is very silky and creamy, not too airy. I absolutely loved both the Korean Coffee (strong coffee flavor) and the strawberries and cream which is one of the better strawberry versions I've had. You can get it in a cup or cone, with many enhanced cone styles, and an included topping of crushed oreos, fruity pebbles or sprinkles. The outer walls are pink, just asking for a colorful photo with your ice cream.
