Got the Hokkaido soft serve with the matcha sauce and warabi mochi which was really good. The ice cream was really creamy and they don't skimp on the toppings. It was around $9 for a regular with those toppings which is pretty pricey but I think most places are pricey in Sawtelle. Service was really good and my order came out very fast but it wasn't too busy. I think it's worth trying but note that it's tough to get parking and the only seating is a bench outside.

Stopped by this location after grabbing dinner nearby. I was hoping the Hokkaido soft serve here would taste similar to what I've had in Japan. My husband and I tried the Hokkaido Milk with MBR (mochi, brown sugar syrup, roasted soy bean powder). I liked the overall flavor, but the soft serve was not creamy enough. The portion seemed really small for the price. Service was okay. We had to wait awhile to order. Only one staff member was taking orders and preparing them, while two others were working on their store display. Considering the value and overall quality, I'd rather go elsewhere that serves more soft serve for the same price.

Stopped by for ice cream. No samples though! Got the matcha centric. Comes with three pieces of matcha covered mochi. Quite creamy and satisfying.

There's a reason why the line goes out the door for this one. Hands-down the best hokkaido milk ice cream I have ever eaten and swirled with the matcha, it was simply perfection! The flavors are strong but not overly so and the sweetness was just right. Lots of people but service is efficient and we got our ice creams within 10 minutes of lining up on a Sat night. Parking is crowded; found street parking for free on LaGrange St.

I've been missing hokkaido milk since coming back from Japan so this hit the spot. We tried the yuzu and black sesame flavors but honestly I wish I just got plain to really taste the flavor of the hokkaido milk. The toppings taste good but they kind of mask the flavor of the ice cream itself.

Stopped by around 4 on a Wednesday and noticed the store was empty. I was helped after a couple of minutes. Service 4/5 Pretty straight forward service, doesn't offer samples of the ice cream :/ I ordered the sweet potato crème brulee with Hokkaido :) 4/5 The sweet potato is delish! I thought it slightly overpowered the milk flavor ( or the Hokkaido flavor is lacking). I've been to the indigo cow in Seattle and I think this location is much better! The texture and taste of the Hokkaido milk is stronger and creamier here, however still nothing as close to cremia. I do wish the milk flavor is stronger, but this is still delicious! Vibes: 2/5 No seating inside. Just a grab and go joint. However clean nonetheless. There's a metal stool outside. Parking: Parking can be found underneath and they do validate for 30 minutes!

The Vibe: Strictly a grab-and-go operation. Small, efficient, and focused entirely on the product. The Standouts: Hokkaido milk soft serve with warabi mochi. The contrast between the creamy, cold dairy and the chewy, nutty mochi is elite. It is not overly sweet, which lets the milk quality shine. Elite Tips: Known for using genuine Hokkaido milk, which gives it a much richer fat content than standard soft serve. Perfect for a post-meal stroll through Sawtelle. They share a parking lot/structure with Alfred's. There's also plenty of street parking on Corinth and Tennessee if you don't mind a short walk.

Matcha Soft Serve w/ Matcha Warabimochi topping | Sawtelle - Los Angeles, California

Hokkaido dairy is famous for being exceptionally rich and creamy. Indigo Cow imports milk and cream from Iwase Farms in Japan to make their soft serve. I was having lunch in Sawtelle, and I decided to stop here for dessert afterwards. You can order their signature milk flavor, the special seasonal flavor, or a swirl of both flavors. They have a small list of toppings to choose from. I got a cup of matcha soft serve topped with matcha warabimochi and drizzled with matcha sauce. Sweet with a nice earthy flavor, though a little icy at the bottom. Matcha used to be a permanent menu item, but it looks like they will rotate it out occasionally. Check the seasonal flavor option before you go.

Was so excited to try this spot out since I grabbed lunch right next door, it was a nice short walk over. I really wanted to try Hokkaido Milk swirled with Matcha. Unfortunately, they don't have Matcha on the menu anymore. They only have Hokkaido Milk or Pistachio. Seems like they changed the menu for quite some time, they even changed the 3D lettering on the wall menu. There's still Matcha Sauce or Matcha Centric topping but no Matcha soft serve. I chose Hokkaido with Matcha Sauce and M.B.R (Mochi +Brown Sugar Syrup +Roasted Soy Bean Powder). Hokkaido was quite creamy but a bit sweeter than I expected. All the Matcha sauce and brown sugar syrup sank to the bottom of my cup and it made it way too sweet for my liking. It ended up being just ok.

After a great lunch at Kyoto Wagyu Tonkatsu Ten no Meshi, I was craving something sweet and ended up at Indigo Cow. With so many food options in the Sawtelle area, this seemed like a perfect spot to finish off the afternoon. I ordered the matcha swirl soft serve, which was creamy, refreshing, and not overly sweet. I especially loved the cone - not sure if it was psychological due to the color, but it seemed to have a nice roasted flavor that paired well with the soft serve. I also liked the décor. The clean white, minimalist design gave the shop a bright and modern feel. If you're already in the area and looking for a lighter dessert after a meal, Indigo Cow is worth checking out.

After snacking, eating, and drinking for the entire day, my friend and I ended our food exploration with ice cream after dinner last Saturday. Indigo Cow is located a prime spot in Sawtelle surrounded by many restaurants, and the area was really lively and busy when we were there. We got a small cup of the swirl (Hokkaido milk + matcha soft serves) to share. The guy working gave us a stingy amount of ice cream; for reference, my friend has gotten soft serve here before and has gotten a much larger portion. That aside, I enjoyed the subtle sweetness of the milk ice cream but the matcha was too sweet and the flavor was pretty weak. Overall, I'd probably be a regular if I lived in Sawtelle, but as someone visiting, I'm definitely checking other dessert spots before coming back.

Matcha Centric Hokkaido Milk Ice Cream

This Japanese ice cream spot was really good, among some of my favorite ice cream spots here in LA. I got the Hokkaido Milk ice cream and made it Matcha Centric which came with matcha, warabimochi, matcha sauce, and matcha powder. It was such a great combo. The Hokkaido Milk ice cream was soft and not too sweet. It was a great base to soak up the matcha flavoring. The matcha flavoring was tasty and the ice cream had a strong matcha flavor which I liked. I also liked how nutty it was. The warabimochi was also yummy, it was soft and chewy. Overall, a great ice cream combo. It was on the pricier side of $7 for a small ice cream cup, but the quality was good. When I visited, the AC was broken so it was pretty warm and stuffy inside. However, this was a grab and go kind of shop so it wasn't too bad. The staff working at the time I went weren't very friendly to me and my friends. I would recommend this spot as one of the better places to get dessert in the Sawtelle area!

Well made ice cream and lots of chocolate toppings. I'm a chocolate fiend so was very happy to see they had the chocolate wall available. Added that to the yuzu and brown sugar topping. Was delicious on this hot day! Would def come again.
