Small Hokkaido Milk with M.B.R. (Mochi, Brown sugar syrup, Roasted Soybean powder)
    Prath C.

We came here on a Saturday late night for an ice cream treat and thankfully it is open until 12am on Saturdays. There's not a lot of sitting space and it is definitely more of a pick me up location. The server was also very efficient. We got the Small Hokkaido Milk with M.B.R. (Mochi, Brown sugar syrup, Roasted Soy bean powder) to share between 2 people (but 1 person could easily finish it as well). The ice cream was very creamy and not super sweet, which was a great combination with the Brown sugar syrup and Roasted Soy bean powder. The mochi was also very soft and chewy. Overall, it was great combination and will be back to try other combinations from the menu when I'm in the area next.

I've definitely gotten the Hokkaido milk OG flavour, but this time we added double mochi balls! FYI they are less like Japanese mochi, and more on par with Taiwanese Tangyuan balls! So tasty. Will def return. Also my friend and I shared this so it was the right amount (sometimes when I eat Hokkaido milk ice-cream by myself, my tastebuds get used to flavour so it loses the creaminess. Not so when shared!) Sharing a larger size with a friend is def the way to go!

Hokkaido milk flavor was today's choice. The waffles are made out of charcoal powder making them a nice black color. The soft serve ice cream comes from grass fed cows raised at Iwase farms in Sunagawa, Hokkaido. They have delicious toppings such as mochi, brown sugar, roasted soy bean powder combo. Fruit sauces, and other seasonal flavors. I'm lactose intolerant and for some reason my gut tolerates this ice cream. Atom wanted shaved ice next door he missed out!

A perfect sweet treat for those who like milk flavored desserts! Hokkaido milk style ice cream is definitely harder to find in the US, so I was excited to try this spot. The ice cream was smooth and had a subtle milk flavor which I liked. It could have been creamier, but I still enjoyed it a lot! The wait wasn't long at all and it is located in a bustling street in Sawtelle with lots of other restaurants nearby, making it a great place to drop by for dessert.

Stopped by this location after grabbing dinner nearby. I was hoping the Hokkaido soft serve here would taste similar to what I've had in Japan. My husband and I tried the Hokkaido Milk with MBR (mochi, brown sugar syrup, roasted soy bean powder). I liked the overall flavor, but the soft serve was not creamy enough. The portion seemed really small for the price. Service was okay. We had to wait awhile to order. Only one staff member was taking orders and preparing them, while two others were working on their store display. Considering the value and overall quality, I'd rather go elsewhere that serves more soft serve for the same price.

Parking can be limited. Typical LA issues. We parked a block away. We were the only customers and service was quick and friendly. We got the Hokkaido milk with matcha mochi and the creme brûlée. Creme brûlée was better of the two. Hokkaido milk definitely in there but the flavor was more mild than in Japan.

Got the Hokkaido soft serve with the matcha sauce and warabi mochi which was really good. The ice cream was really creamy and they don't skimp on the toppings. It was around $9 for a regular with those toppings which is pretty pricey but I think most places are pricey in Sawtelle. Service was really good and my order came out very fast but it wasn't too busy. I think it's worth trying but note that it's tough to get parking and the only seating is a bench outside.

Another popular Japanese sweet treat shop that opened up in Sawtelle; tasty to eat especially in this hot weather but I think I have disappointed myself in expecting it to be as creamy and similar to the Hokkaido milk ice cream in Japan. The flavor is subtle which is normal, but I definitely wanted a creamier texture. Perhaps with toppings, it would have been more enjoyable. Service was quick, glad to have this in LA.

Stopped by for ice cream. No samples though! Got the matcha centric. Comes with three pieces of matcha covered mochi. Quite creamy and satisfying.

I think I overdid it with the matcha ice cream and matcha toppings, even as a matcha lover so be warned. But the sweet potato crème brûlée ice cream was SO GOOD. Would come back just to get that again.

I've been missing hokkaido milk since coming back from Japan so this hit the spot. We tried the yuzu and black sesame flavors but honestly I wish I just got plain to really taste the flavor of the hokkaido milk. The toppings taste good but they kind of mask the flavor of the ice cream itself.

Recently, I visited Indigo Cow for the first time. I went to the Sawtelle location on a Saturday at around 3pm and it wasn't too busy, so the service was minimal and quick. The shop's small with only an outdoor bench for seating, and it's decorated cleanly inside with a colorful mural of Sawtelle and merch for sale. I chose the Hokkaido Milk soft serve with M.B.R. in a small cup (~ $7). The Hokkaido Milk soft serve was nice & light. I would've liked more from the M.B.R.; the Mochi was a bit hard, and I could've used extra Roasted Soy Bean Powder to balance the sweetness of the Brown Sugar Syrup. Although the shop experience was fine and the treat was tasty, the overall price, quality, and quantity will likely result in an occasional return visit from me.

Any ice cream and a charcoal cone with mochi and red beans. Service is quick and ambience is quiet. There's no place to sit so you buy, order to go.

Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.
