She also has very reasonable prices which is always a great thing especially if your getting hair extensions the upkeep can get pretty expensive, however with Janet her labor prices are a flat fee with no hidden or inflated surprise fees, and the hair quality is amazing. Cool decor, friendly staff, but bad hair cut. I got my hair cut here after purchasing the Living Social deal as well. The staff is very accommodating and the salon had a bohemian spa vibe, which was really cool. The hair cut was mediocre at best, definitely not worth the regular 100 price tag, or the $40 living social deal. You'd probably get a similar cut with a stylist at fantastic sams or supercuts without the frills of cucumber water or hot tea. I asked Janet for long connected layers, but my hair ended up uneven with blunt layers on top. She probably spent 20 minutes cutting my hair, 10 minutes washing/conditioning, and 20 minutes blow drying. I felt like the same amount of time was spent blow drying/styling my hair so it wouldn't look so blunt and uneven... read more

Great experience Living Social led me to Indo for an awesome deal for cut, deep conditioning, full highlights and blow dry You really should read the directions in the confirmation email. Also bring some change in case you meter park. Note that thursday is street sweeping and you will get a ticket from some bitch lady that sits in her car next to yours to make sure you leave when no sweeper is in the vicinity. $63 Its so airy and indie/hippie in the salon itself. Feels comfortable and the asian lady statue didnt freak me out as much as i thought. There was also Maxi.. A cute ass dog that loves begging with her round eyes. She kept me company... Or maybe my freaking delicious muffin company every time Quinn stepped away. Reception was super friendly as expected in WeHo Quinn gets my thumbs up. Shes really cool and friendly. I was only there for a little under 2 hours but it really flew by The cut- QUICK!! Couldnt have been over 10 minutes but not an uneven straggler to be found. Amazeballs. Color- i got ómbre instead of highlights. My hair is daaaark brown naturally so she lightened it up as much as she could Deep condition- maybe my favorite part. Quinns hands are magic. My scalp massage felt phenomenal and the product smelled so great. Like many others, I purchased a deal from LivingSocial "Shampoo, Deep Conditioning, Blow Dry, Cut, and a One-Process Color." I scheduled my appointment and read some reviews here where other LivingSocial users were complaining how the "one-process color" is downgraded to a "root touch-up." I went to my appointment hoping that wasn't the case for me. However, it was. Though the owner was very friendly and nice, she didn't even bother to explain how the "one-process color" is really just a "root touch-up" and proceeded to instruct her assistant color only the roots of my hair. I had previously read about this on Yelp (thank you, fellow LivingSocial/Yelpers), so I asked, "are we not coloring all of my hair?" The assistant, seemingly confused, asked the owner about it, and she pretty much just asked "are there enough colors left? No? Just try to spread it out a little more and leave it on for longer." I asked if the colors will blend in nicely with my already dyed hair and she gave me a very vague answer. Overall, the experience turned out to be just ok since I opted for the same color family and a trim for the haircut. However, I felt cheated because whether or not her intention of "one-process color" had been "root touch-up" from the start, common conceptions of "one-process color" is for the whole head. If this was the case from the start, the deal should've been explained or stated clearer. And if the owner decided to downgrade the service being offered because she couldn't afford to do so, then she should've considered that from the start and not offer the deal as such as it will only lead to bad reputation and no returning customers due to this. I apologize if I seem to be ranting. But please do consider more transparency to the customers to the future so that these incidents won't happen again as it appears I was not the only one who experienced this. 2 stars for the friendly owner/staffs and decor. read more

I waited a few days to yelp since my initial reaction was anger when I realized what had happened. I don't hate the cut but cutting 21 inches; an overshot of 11 inches is just ridiculous. I felt robbed since it'll take me a couple years at least to get back the extra 11 inches I did not authorized. I needed a haircut; ideally about 4-5 inches. However, if I cut 8 inches, I could donate it. My hair is super thick and frizzy and the weight of my hair is the only thing that controls it. It was a hard debate, but I decided to let go of 10 inches. I found Indo Salon on yelp and Quinn had lots of great reviews. I found a deal on lifebooker and made an appointment with Quinn. The appointment process was easy and Quinn was actually very nice and cute. I told Quinn that it took years to grow my hair and I finally decided to let go of 10 inches which was a hard thing for me to do. Quinn indicated that a 10 inch cut would still leave me with long hair. Apparently shoulder length hair is long to her and she can't measure. I wanted the bangs she had and she can't even mimic a cut that she had on herself. Styling now takes a lot longer since I no longer have the weight of the hair to hold down the volume. I can't even tie it up in a bun which has been my default hairdo when I'm running late. Like I said, I do not hate the cut, however, cutting 21 inches when we discussed 10 max several times is just unforgiveable. I did tip generously before I realized the butchery! Needless to say, I will not be going back to a stylist that does not hesitate to just chop away without hesitation. Maybe it's because I got a lifebooker deal versus the regular $85 price tag; just an assumption on my part but I have no other explanation that would be nicer for such a huge discrepancy. PS. I purchased a Living Social Deal a while back and came in for an appointment with Pedro. It was definitely the worst customer service experience of my life, which might I add, is pretty bad for LA. He was extremely rude and obviously very upset that I was booked for an appointment at 6 pm on a Friday evening, which was actually offered to me and not something I requested. I have shit to do on Fridays too. Worst part about it was? Although he wouldn't tell me straight to my face, he loudly expressed what an inconvenience it was for him to the client currently sitting in his chair. There was only a mirror between us, so obviously I could hear his disdain clearly. His attitude towards me resulted in me walking out without my hair done. Unfortunately, I have already learned the hard way on getting a haircut by a bitter hairdresser and refuse to have it happen again. I chose to take a loss in the $50 I had already paid through Living Social and will never return again. Not even if offered free haircuts for life. I understand that with the Living Social deal they were probably extremely overbooked and overworked, however, this is no excuse to treat a new client the way he did. read more

Indo salon is like a little haven off the beaten path where you can relax, get pretty and feel like you belong to a private secret society. The owner, Janet, is warm and extremely talented. She also surrounds herself with talent... I know because I have been going to Gabi, who aside from being super cute and sweet... has made my hair gorgeous! She helped me find the perfect shade of blonde (which is much harder than it sounds)... and I freakin' LOVE her blow outs! I feel like a playmate whenever I leave her!! I also referred a friend of mine to Gabi for the Brazilian blow out and it is INSANE!!! My friend has curly frizzy hair that she used to spend a full hour blowing out each day (What a waste of life!)...and now, she can roll out of the shower and just brush it and it's straight, shiny and glorious! Quinn made me pretty! She wasn't scissor happy and truly listened to what I wanted. So many stylists believe that they're in charge of my hair because they're 'professional' but Quinn really made it clear that she was there to make me happy! Thank you! I'm giving 5 stars because this was a solid experience. Notes for the owner, however: -front-of-house staff could be a bit nicer. -You're too expensive. I've lived in LA my whole life and seen so many overpriced places come and go. The good deals are the ones that stick. People with high incomes don't like to get ripped off - only tourists think they're supposed to pay top dollar. There is a high-end salon in Beverly Hills who charges almost half of what you charge, and they have almost all the city's high-end clientele because of this. You do great work, but I came to you on a Lifebooker - the fact that the full price for my basic trim (the cut took 2 minutes - very simple) and blowout would have been over $100 is a little discouraging, as I'm not sure I can pay that when it's $50 down the road from me, although I do like you guys. Consider lowering your prices to be a little more competitive and then you won't even need Lifebookers to bring clients in. Just food for thought! read more

I went here to get a haircut & deep conditioning treatment after purchasing a Deal for them on Living Social. The overall experience was great, and my stylist, Quinn, is fabulous! The location is a bit hard to find (they have moved to 7931 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90046), but when you find it you will completely forget that you are in the middle of Los Angeles. Once inside you will find a tranquil salon/spa. They were so patient with me. I was a bit late for my appointment because I went to their old location and then got lost trying to find their new location. I called them about 3 times because I was walking around and couldn't find where they were. The girl who answered the phone was so great...she came out to look for me. Not only were they understanding about my late arrival, but they offered me coffee/water/tea/whatever I wanted to drink when I arrived. Aside from the fantastic customer service, I love love love my haircut. Quinn was able to keep my length while adding style and movement to my unruly hair. Okay... INDO Salon is a GIFT FROM GOD! I bought the living social deal and got an appointment with Janet, who turned out to be the owner. The deal was awesome, for $50 bucks I got a haircut, root touch up, and deep conditioning. WOW! Now that's a deal! The deep conditioning was fantastic, the girl that did it gave me the best head massage ever! Then on to my haircut...I asked Janet if she thought that my hair would be able to do a long thick and choppy straight across bang...because I had always wanted to try that look but had been told my hair wouldn't do it. I was just asking because I was thinking to try it out in the fall. She looked at my hair and said she thought it would be really cute, and then asked if I wanted to do it now. It got me thinking and I was like screw it...let's do it! It was the MOST FUN thing I have ever done! I was such a much needed change, and she gave me the best haircut ever! They were exactly as I imagined! I have never gotten so many compliments in my life! Janet you are my savior! She is super rad, super sweet, and awesome with hair! Then I came back the next week to get the Brazillian Blowout with Raquel. Raquel was great too...super cute and sweet! She did my hair outside which was so cool because it was a beautiful day! After the blowout...it is life changing! My hair is SO MUCH BETTER! I can actually let it air dry now and it take's me like 10 minutes to do my hair....and I have really really long hair....when it used to take me 45 minutes. I LOVE this place! Awful. I bought the livingsocial deal for a single process color and cut. I came in to my appointment and was greeted by a stylist (maybe owner?) who asked what I needed done. I reaffirmed I needed a cut & color (which I made an apt for). She went on to tell me they didnt have enough hair color to use on me and that I would have to pay extra bc of my long hair. My hair is long but not excessively long or thick- they just wanted more money. She then went on to tell me that they sold over 1000 livingsocial deals and they'd lose money if they used too much color on everyone. She then tried to pass me off on a someone else and dry cut my hair prior to color to save the color. I felt very uncomfortable and told her I needed a refund & then I left. I was so disturbed by the service I received. I was treated as a second rate client bc I had bought a coupon they had sold me! It was a huge waste of time for me to go. I left and drove to Juan Juan in Beverly Hills. I received a gorgeous color & cut, paid full price and it was worth every penny. read more

It's not actually a typical Los Angeles salon bc it's located in a residential area... and it's in a residential home. Yep, you heard me, it's a house turned salon... which is kind of cool because every room is has a different vibe. **TIP-- it's at the corner of the street, behind ANOTHER house and a TIRES sign. But Indo itself is YELLOW. -Parking in LA-- enough said :( -Janet is AMAZING!!! Be sure to request her because she seems like the only one with quality and consistent reviews on Yelp. She will sit down with you before your appointment and ask you what you want to do with your hair. I purchased a Living Social coupon for the wash, blowdry, cut, deep conditioning treatment and one-process color. I had no trouble getting an appointment, because I booked in March for a late-April appointment. However, when booking my appointment, I was told the one-process color is only for root touch-ups, not full color, highlights, or anything else. I was offered a hair glaze as an alternative. I had no trouble finding street parking and the somewhat hidden location. (They e-mail you very precise instructions the day before your appointment and it's not hard if you just glance at Google maps beforehand. They are no longer located at Havenhurst, their new location's address is on Santa Monica Blvd, but the actual salon is accessed through a side street and alleyway.) I arrived for my appointment with Quinn, who was great about explaining the hair glaze. She persuaded me to go with a red hair glaze, which wouldn't change my base hair color (dark brown) too much, but would revamp my old formerly-red, now faded brown highlights. She applied the glaze and left while it soaked in. She returned not too long after and rinsed it out, then applied the deep conditioner. At this point, I was left laying back in the sink while she gave another client a complete haircut and blowdry. I suppose this gave the conditioner time to work, but I laid there for over 30 minutes with no service whatsoever. In fact, another stylist eventually came and rinsed out the conditioner while Quinn finished up with her other customer. However, once I was in the chair, Quinn was very attentive and listened patiently as I showed her a couple photos and explained how I wanted my hair cut. She did a great job of keeping my length, while adding layers that really helped spruce up my straight hair. She also did a good job cutting my side-swept bangs and was responsive when I asked her to cut them a bit shorter. Overall, she worked quickly with precision and definitely knew how to achieve the look I wanted. The blowdry was great - she applied just enough product to keep everything looking good and even sent me outside with a mirror to see the red glaze better. I was very happy with the outcome, my highlights were back to a dark red and the glaze really added a pop of shine all over. Indo Salon is a nice, secluded getaway and I am happy with my haircut. The only reason I gave it four stars is because without the Living Social coupon, all of the add-ons like the glaze and conditioner would have been way out of my budget. I will likely go back for a bangs trim and maybe a haircut if I can afford it! read more

Oh my goodness, a hairstylist that actually gets it!!! I have never been happy with my hairstylists until I met Quinn!!! Not only does she actually know what "big hair" means but she cuts my hair perfectly. She always gives me a cut that won't require me to blow-dry, flat iron, curl, etc. It's a perfect cut for every purpose. Quinn truly listens to my needs. I can describe what I want and, whether or not I make sense, she gets it!!! I will never again endure the terror that comes with going to a new hairstylist and that's one less anxiety for me. The good: I found them through Lifebooker so I obviously got a huge steal on my haircut, which is definitely a plus. My cut was with Quinn, who gets the bulk of the reviews on here. Quinn is very friendly/chatty/etc, and is also very good at blow dries and gives amazing scalp massages. My wash, deep condition, cut, and blow dry were done very efficiently and only took about 45 minutes. The meh: Only street parking--was fortunate to find a spot right outside. Could definitely see this being a problem if the residential areas were packed. The meters aren't too expensive. The bad: Quinn's inch perception is way off. I told her I wanted 4 inches off and she showed me on my hair her version of 4 inches... which was almost twice my 4 inches. I would've believed her had I not measured my hair at home with a tape measure. Sensing a length issue, I told her to forget the inches and just have my hair end mid-boob. As I was leaving the salon, I told her my hair was shorter than I anticipated but she told me that it just looked short because she curled it slightly with the round brush. After I came home and washed my hair, I was not happy with how short my hair was. I measured it with my tape measure and it's 3-4 inches shorter than mid-boob. She cut off twice the amount that I wanted cut off :( With all of that said, I am giving this place 4 stars because the haircut is not bad and looks very healthy, fresh, etc... It was one of the best cuts/blow dries I've gotten in LA but it'll take at least 3 months for my hair to grow the missing inches. read more

Went here today to use up my Living Social voucher for a much-needed haircut! The address on everything related to them is wrong -- they moved recently and are now just north of Santa Monica Blvd on Hayworth. It is now in a really cute yet hard to find little salon tucked inside an old cottage behind the One-Stop Auto Shop. Park in the driveway if you can't find street parking, as this is a permit-heavy area. Haircut turned out wonderfully and everyone here was very nice. My only complaint is that when I called this morning to confirm the appointment I had made earlier in the week, they had no record of me ever calling. And when I initially tried to schedule an appointment, I couldn't get a hold of anyone for days. Giving this place an A solely because Jillian S. I don't know the other women, but she is the only one I want doing my hair. She has color corrected my hair so much after I try someone else or it fades badly. She actually also gets me out of their in a timely manor. No one likes being worked on for 4 hours!! I've never been a sucker into paying extra for extras like a blowout or treatment after color, but you have to try it from her. My hair never feels as soft and healthy as Jillian can make it. She is a color chemist! Each time she's listened to me so intently and made me feel like she actually cares about getting it perfect- she takes much pride in her work and it shows! I was ready to give up because after buying a deal coupon there; I could not get an appointment. I tried 4 times and I was ready to give up. I know several businesses that smartly beefed up their staffing to accommodate the additional traffic. On the 5th try, I was able to get an appt that worked for me. The place is hidden- it's great when you're in it; it's private and airy and has nice light. But it's impossible to find and when I booked the appt, they gave no indication of the hidden aspect (behind a business, entrance on a side street, no sign and the address is Santa Monica Blvd) But I like the salon and I plan on going back. For these deals, they give you the 'newbie' and though she was a bit slow and her hairdresser bedside manner needs some developing; I liked my haircut and it was nice not to have an ultra chatty hairdresser. . She was also very accommodating (upgraded my service with no extra charge) and emphasized the customer service. I'm betting, hoping, my update will be a 5 star. read more

I'm an old friend and client of Janet's and I moved out of LA about 3 years ago. Janet used to do my girlfriend's hair perfectly and she can translate anything you want from a photo, and if it won't work for your hair, she'll tell you. Here in Vegas, we've been through about 7 stylists. We finally found one who can cut, but bless his little queen heart, can't focus for any more than six seconds, which has just made us miss Janet even more. While she's cutting you, she's focused entirely on you. Not on the 6 other people they booked in your slot. I have dreadlocks now, but for years I was tormented by LA hair stylists who couldn't do anything with my naturally thick wavy long hair. They would either chop the crap out of it because "I just LOVE cutting hair this thick!" or do almost nothing and still charge me $150. When I finally found Janet, it was awesome. Not only is she a rocking cutter but she's one of the best colorists in the city. Oh - they will also do crazy rockstar stuff if you want that - colored extensions, very intense color, extreme looks. Janet and her team are super creative and can create just about anything you dream up. For five years with my band in LA Janet did all our hair and makeup and everything looked amazing for our photo shoots. She's worth every penny. I miss very few things about LA. She's wonderful! Quinn totally understood what I was looking for, gave me a beautiful chocolatey color while retaining some of my highlights. Her scalp massage was the best. The cut is just gorgeous and the blow dry va va voom! My boyfriend took one look at my iphone pic and said 'Hope you're ready for a night cap tonight because you look hot!" I purchased the Living Social for haircut/condition/blowout and am very happy with my experience. Quinn gave me a great haircut and style. I had been growing out my hair for seven months and was super nervous to finally sit down and make some (small) changes. I lost about an inch and got some layers and shape - and it ended up looking exactly how I wanted. Added bonus - the little house it's in is so cute and a very relaxed space. You don't feel like you're on Santa Monica blvd at all. They give helpful instructions on how to find them when you make your appt - otherwise it would be really hard to find (despite the address, you enter off Brighton down a small alley). Didn't know where to get my super long, thick hair cut out here, so a friend suggested I check out deals on Lifebooker. That way, if I ended up at a bad place, at least I wasn't out a chunk of money. However, I still checked reviews, and chose to try Indo Salon. It can be a hard place to find, but they send an email with exact directions. Parking on the weekend is horrible, so give yourself plenty of time. My cut was with Quinn. She's super sweet, listened to what I wanted, and gave me a great cut. She used a minimum of product for the blowout, which I appreciate, and my hair looked beautiful. What that girl can do with a blow dryer and roundbrush is amazing. I mentioned a couple of hair "goals" and she made some recommendations. We also discussed some fun "natural" color options for next time. Yet another victim of the lvingsocial scarlet letter, it took me almost four months to even GET an appointment that would work for me and the salon. I'm not one to address places in a negative fashion. However it has been just one too many occasions where this salon has been extremely disappointing. If it weren't for my stylist I would have stopped coming here months ago. I come here every 3 weeks for color and my appts are never less than 1.5-2 hours. On visits they have not had toilet paper or tissues - not ideal when you really needed to use the bathroom. Then the salon had run out of conditioner - what hairdresser place runs out of an essential product for the services they provide! As for the music - most of the time it is this hideous hard core rap playing that makes me wish I had ear plugs to have to endure that music for over an hour. Maybe the owner should consider a mixed array of music that is comfortable for all clients. And reconsider the volume level also. The cherry on top is the temperature with the AC either not working at all or barely working. Today I honestly thought I was going to pass out the salon was so uncomfortably hot with nonworking AC! When this salon split up with their owners the salon honestly went downhill from there. Fortunately there are many other salon options in SCV and my stylist made the best decision to leave this salon so I no longer need to be obligated to come here. Good luck for any who decides to go here. Reconsider your options out there! read more

I'm saddened to have to write a negative 100th review but it must be done. I had an appointment for Saturday afternoon. Got great email directions so I wasn't lost at all. Got there 5 minutes before my 3pm appointment. Friendly greeting, and from there, it was wait, and wait, and wait. I literally waited over an hour, past 4pm before getting my hair washed. Then, my hair was literally cut in 5 minutes, with blow dry another 5-10 minutes. The cut/style wasn't even good, I'll have to grow my hair out to look decent because right now, it's in a ponytail. My stylist certainly had an attitude, one minute he's all standoffish, the next, he's smiling and friendly. It just wasn't worth $40 let alone the full price of $105. Thank God I only paid the Livingsocial amount. Normally, if the cut was great, I'd tip minimum of 20 to 30% but in this case, I only gave 15% on the full price amount of course. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the lady at the reception was very nice and friendly, even tried to get me to purchase future cuts for 30% off, but I was totally put off by the lack of service from my stylist. I guess they don't care about keeping new clients because I really CANNOT recommend this place to anyone. Too much attitude, too little customer service. read more

I've never been able to find that special person I can trust to go back to, that hair stylist who really listens and delivers. All that has changed since going to Indo Salon and having "Heather" cut, color and style my hair. She is an absolute gem. Heather is a sweetheart who really takes her time in perfecting her finished product. I never feel more confident than I do when I'm walking out of Indo Salon after Heather is finished with me. I am SOO happy to have finally found my salon home with Heather doing me right!! I'm proud to say Heather is my forever hair stylist! I found their deal on groupon and made an appointment. The deal included cut, deep conditioning, one color process, and blow dry. Quinn is amazing. I had a lot of grow out and grey hairs and the color is just beautiful! I am trying to grow my hair out and decided on bangs and a trim with some style added. She listened and did exactly what I had in my head. It's just perfect and I have so much movement in my hair. Everyone is so welcoming and the bungalow is serene. I have extremely curly hair so I've never actually had a style. Well no more worries for me! Gabbi is AMAZING! She gave me a Brazilian blow out and I am in LOVE with my hair and her skills! It's softer, way more manageable, and I'm even wearing my hair down straight out the shower now (something I NEVER did before). And the way she styled it...I felt like I just walked off a photo shoot! Completely amazed is all I can say. If anyone wants to look and feel like the hottest chick on the block, SEE GABBI! She's super nice and friendly, but doesn't talk too much which is a huge plus when the blow dryer's going and you can't hear anything anyway. Indo itself is very zen and serene which was a great surprise. It was like being at home...only a way nicer, more peaceful home. And believe me, your results will be worth every penny! Quinn did an amazing job with my hair! It's straight & relatively coarse (as opposed to fine) Asian hair. It generally falls pretty flat when longer & sticks straight up when shorter. She was able to layer & cut it in a fashion where with a quick application of a bit of pomade it looks awesome. It's one week out, so she took growth into account which is stellar foresight. Aside from the actual cut, the professionalism was clearly apparent during the whole session. She was engaging to talk to, attentive, friendly, while all the time giving my hair her all! I fully recommend going to Quinn & shall myself return for my next cut! read more

I came here because I got a great deal on Lifebooker. This place is so charming and cozy.... It's tucked away off the main road. It feels like it used to be a big house that someone converted into a salon. My hair stylist was Kina. I got a wash, deep condition, trim and blow dry. Kina did a fantastic job! She does dry cutting, which I always thought made more sense anyway. I was so happy with the way it turned out! Kina is so sweet and has a very calming energy about her. Love Indo Salon and Janet!!! My first introduction to Indo Salon was from the Living Social deal. The salon had just relocated to a new location in March (the staff gave great directions) everyone was friendly the place is cool bright airy with great natural sunlight. Wow, the deal was awesome, I had several services done, root coloring, deep conditioning, blow dry, and Janet the owner gave me the haircut. She's great, she listened to my ideas and collaborated and gave me the best haircut I've had in along time. I'm so glad I found Indo Salon and Janet, because finally after living in LA for 10 years, I've found a stylist that listens to my concerns and follows through with an amazing haircut. Janet's cut is so good, that it just falls in place and that's what I love about her. I'm a busy mom on the run and I love having a haircut that I can blow dry or not and it still looks great.
