This was an interesting place to find. For me, it was kind of hidden. But that makes its discovery all the more precious. Right when you first enter, you notice the modern industrial look that a lot of places are adopting, while still feeling very cozy and intimate. Now, the coffee. They use flavored CEREAL milk, which lends a whole new attitude to coffee that I never imagined. I can't even remember what I had, but it was glorious. And the avocado toast! Very flavor-full, and the runny egg on top was the perfect touch. Tiny grape tomato halves lay on top with some crumbled cheese. Everything about it was perfection. Well worth the price, which I thought was slightly overpriced. As an afterthought, I grabbed a blueberry lime scone and I'm very glad I did. It was rich and delicious and flaky and soft and all the other good words you want in a scone. They also have a variety of knick-knacks for sale, from coffee mugs to clothing. I definitely will be revisiting this place in the near future, far future, and even alternate dimensional futures. read more

Tried out this place on the way out of town. It has a cool, relaxed vibe and is full of that college energy. I ordered the "dirty brown" which is a cold brew with vanilla and cream. It was delicious. Indy is definitely my go-to coffee spot, especially because I'm a student at UTSA and it's right across the street. It's a great place for classic drinks, but they also have drinks that are unique to them (such as the Dirty Brown, which is amazeballs) and seasonal drinks (my fav is the Sean Pecannery). There truly is something for everybody. Their food menu has been more limited since the opening of their sister restaurant, Scorpion, but the options that they do have are all delicious (I love their avocado toast and the Japanese omelette sando). Overall, their food and drinks are all extremely high quality, consistent, and delicious. The space itself is a little small, but it's a really awesome place to study and chill with great decor and great vibes. The staff are all really nice as well as knowledgable about the products they serve, which I love in a coffee shop. read more

Firstly, this place is in the building with a dorm, so it's going to be tough to see when you are driving by. As the address states, it's filled with college kids. A cute study space but sadly the short hours just don't work for me. I've been hunting for a good study space in San Antonio that isn't too loud and has a perfect space to lay out my journals and books. This place was great but sadly closed early. I'm not the earliest morning person so just finding a cafe that stays open at least by 8 pm is hard to come by. The moment I walked in I was immediately told I needed a mask in kind of a stern way, which I get and understand, I did end up putting one on but I felt a little off guard by how it was told to me. I came back in with my mask and ended up trying one of their specialty chai lattes and it was good, not as sweet as I was hoping for but it was good. It was cool, quiet, and spacious which I love but just wish they would extend their hours a bit longer especially being in a college zone I feel like a lot of student would appreciate that time. I also wish I could've tried their pastries. I noticed a woman order a muffin and had no idea they had that there since the menu only had drinks. Will have to try next time! I had been wanting to check this place out for quite some time and was happy to finally have that excuse to head out to this side of town. This place is quite eclectic and has a very quaint feel to it. The staff here is really laid back and very knowledgable about their craft. On my visit I tried their version of a cold brew and was quite pleased with it. They offer lactose-free milk so that was a plus for me. They offer free wifi so I'm certain they're a huge hit being in such close proximity to UTSA. Situated within a living complex they're adjacent to a Pita Sandwich shop. I really enjoyed the iced matcha latte made with oat milk. You can taste the authenticity of the matcha, not the typical sugary version that Starbucks and Dunkin' serve. And the avocado toast was bomb! Perfectly seasoned, nicely filling, high quality. It was very delicious. The reason for my 3 stars is because of a couple of things. One, there is no designated parking for the coffee shop, so you'll need to cross your fingers or pray that you'll be able to find street parking near by. Two, none of the chairs have backs to them. They're stools, and I never understand this. Usually people come to coffee shops for work or reading or just to relax, and how can you relax for an hour on a stool? Three, the customer service was just okay. Usually local coffee shops have a really nice "welcome! Have you been here before?" vibes, and have a pretty chill demeanor. The girl who helped me literally stared at me as I looked at the menu, which kind of made me rush to make a decision (there was no line, I was the only one ordering.) Then I went to find a seat (I had to use a table that was two businesses down because there was a chair with a back.) and I came back in and got my drink, and then I was waiting for the food and she looked at me, closed the back curtain and then a second later popped out and handed me silverware and told me she would bring the food out....just really awkward. Great coffee shop in the SA area. The space is small and there tends to be people at Indy at all times of day, so seating may get difficult. However, it is a great place to get some coffee, especially if you're in the area. I think that their latte mixes are particularly unique; they usually have seasonal flavors as well as year-long flavors like their cereal milk latte, which I've found to be particularly delightful (because I love cereal). Their base coffee beans are on the medium-roast side without too much acidity, which I also appreciate. Overall, this is a great place to get some work done/read a book if you can find seating! Girlfriend and I came here before heading out to Jacobs Well, needed some caffeine and a little grub before we made our trip. Found this place on Yelp, wanted to go somewhere new instead of the normal coffee shops. I had the conquistador drink (very tasty) and my girlfriend had some herbal tea. She ordered the pork belly breakfast sandwich and I had the blueberry scone. We enjoyed our drinks, the scone but the pork belly sandwich wasn't a favorite at all. Indy is now located behind the UTSA campus in a new building attached to student housing. The service is young, genuine, and kind...they make you feel like you're one of their long lost friends. They serve Parlor coffee out of Brooklyn, NY. I dig it, it's on the sweet/citrus-y side and the baristas are experts in the milk pouring department! Indy sells custom t-shirts, hats, mugs, beard serum, coffee scrub, and lighters. A cool and hipster coffee shop that is close to me, thank goodness!!! The interior decoration is pretty unique, I would say. From their large wooden thingy that sits above the baristas to the giant Texas flag (bc Texas) to their cool plant holder thingies and their vibe. The place is quite small so it can be difficult to find seating but the whole area/complex is new so maybe more seating outside to come? They have wonderful drinks, some seasonal or secret but they are happy to assist you in your selection of drinks. As a student from UT Austin, I've been waiting for my chance to try Indy coffee for a long long time... And let me tell ya, it did not disappoint. Love that you can park in a parking garage--some people may not like walking (it's still close, just across the street), but I love the upside of getting free covered parking. The interior has great vibes. It's clean, inviting, and cool. My favorite part is definitely the great woodwork at the counter, but the Texas art and cute succulents are a close second. There's also a lot of great natural light in the shop, which makes it ideal for studying, having a meeting, or just hanging out. Staff is super friendly and are very willing to help you choose a drink. Some drink names aren't standard, but they'll break any drink down for you. It was also cool to see how they appreciated old customers and got to know new customers who wanted to chat. FINALLY, the coffee. I was recommended the coco loco (coconut coffee), and I loved it. The coffee was smooth, the foam was thick, and the flavor was great. Tldr; 10/10 would come again, even if it's an hour and a half drive away. read more

AHH! SO glad that Indy was finally able to open up their B&M location after so many delays from the apartment developer. Indy has a great Texan ambiance with natural colors and light making the space feel very welcoming, warm, and easy to stay in. There is ample couch space for hanging out, as well as wood tables with metal chairs for those that need to study (and power outlets to boot!). There is also a short bar area that the staff crafted, stained, and installed themselves. Basically everything at Indy was done by hand by the staff, from installing the bar counter to putting up the lights to decorating the space. It's got a really cool vibe! As far as the drinks go, Indy is definitely on par with some Austin establishments like Figure 8 and Vintage Heart. They source their beans from Flat Track and have pulled some of the baristas from Local Coffee to hang out at Indy. Their menu is simple with no prices (one of the small detractors for me, but I get the marketing) and some standard drinks have been renamed. Gibraltar is a cortado, and Eagle Scout is an Americano! they also have off-menu drinks, so be sure to ask about it before you order. LOVE the coffee and environment here. Definitely stop by if you're in the UTSA area. Also, there's a parking garage BEHIND Indy that's free! Go park there instead of on the street. This is the brick and mortar location of the people formerly in a food truck and what a nice iteration it is. A beautiful long wood bar greets you when you walk into the store with the bar crowned by a they espresso machine. The entire vibe pays homage to minimalism with whimsical touches like a coffee altar that reminds one of the little altars to saints in old mexican restaurants. A bookshelf with books and games finishes off the decor. The coffee is of course excellent. Well pulled espressos, nicely constructed macchiatos and cortados are a lovely treat. Great vibe, awesome decor, and top notch service. The baristas here are truly skilled, work fast, but always deliver quality coffee. Price is on point, never paid more than $5 for any of the lattes. The menu always has a few unique options in addition to the traditional stuff, and they're always taking the next step to create something different for their customers. I have been to Rosella, Press, halcyon, local, olmos perk, aspen, candlelight, brown coffee co and a few others in San Antonio. I can safely say I have never enjoyed any of their drinks as much as the Green tea latte and the Cereal milk latte at Indy. They're both so unique, so delicious, and downright addicting. Keep on experimenting Indy, y'all are killing it. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of outlets, and a great wifi connection. Perfect spot to study, catch up with friends, bring a date, or even just stop by to pick up a drink to go. There's also a lot of parking both on the side of the road and there is an entire parking garage right next to the coffee shop. This place is tucked into a development right by a new apartment complex and other housing. Moving inside, it's not large, but it has a nice feel to it and great smells! The menu is simple, and it's good coffee shop standards. I asked if they had any sugar free syrups, but alas. They do make their own syrups in house, and I'm sure they're great, but I wanted to steer clear of the sugar. I requested a latte breve, extra shot, no syrup, two Splendas. I notices as they were making it that they used whole milk; I don't know if something was lost between order taker and barista, but when the finished drink came out, it was delicious. Rich but smooth coffee flavor from the expertly hand drawn espresso shots and perfectly foamed milk. A thoroughly enjoyable drink. A friend had a doppio which I didn't sample. However, it had a great crema and smelled fantastic. He reported that the flavor, temperature and texture was perfect. Overall, this is a great place for a cuppa. read more

One of my favorite coffeeshops in SA hands down. I've been to pretty much every single shop in SA and this ranks in my top - a different decor from most and a more chill vibe I would say. It's located near UTSA so you'll see a lot of UTSA students coming in and out. OUTLETS/TABLES: All of this is super important to me since every time I get to a coffeeshop, I'm there to study! It's a rare day (never) when I'm not studying haha. So this place has about 4-5 tables with plenty of outlets next to each table. Each table holds 4 stools and then there's a nice couch seating area in the back as well! There's also plenty of outside seating if the weather is nice. The music is low key and the whole atmosphere is perfect for getting stuff done! WiFi connection is always strong. COFFEE/FOOD: So I am in love with the lattes here. They are quite different from most coffeeshops because they have a secret menu which is available on certain days and runs out pretty fast as the day goes on so get there early to grab a cup of it! Their specials can be seen on their instagram and they're usually - cereal milk, maple syrup, cinnamon toast crunch, fruit loop, fruity pebbles - really unique stuff they're doing with the coffee. I've only had their CEREAL MILK LATTE and it's divine! Also if you're a sucker for green tea, the GREEN TEA LATTE is fantastic here - one of the best I've had. As for FOOD, they have an assortment of donuts and I heard their breakfast tacos are pretty good but they run out early in the morning so you'll have to get there early to try it. PARKING: Plenty of street parking around the shop and also apparently the parking garage behind the shop is free (which I didn't know!) HOURS: And unlike a lot of shops in SA, this one is actually OPEN LATE! Woo! Great for students. CONS: I think the secret menu of different coffee flavors is a genius idea but I do wish all the options for the day were on a chalkboard near the actual menu. I think it would be great for them to have a daily menu and then just cross out what flavors have already run out. Because now, you just have to ask the front what their specials are for the day. After hearing about Indy Coffee from multiple friends, I finally had the chance to visit the brick and mortar! The staff was friendly and very open to getting to know their customers. The barista recommended the Coco Loco, which had a great balance of coconut and coffee taste. I also tried my friends' Dirty Brown and Cereal milk coffee, which tasted great too. My personal favorite was definitely the Coco Loco out of the three I tasted. You can't go wrong with any of them though! The interior has a relaxed atmosphere and good lighting, which made it a good place to meet up with friends or just to get some work done.
