After hearing about Indy Coffee from multiple friends, I finally had the chance to visit the brick and mortar! The staff was friendly and very open to getting to know their customers. The barista recommended the Coco Loco, which had a great balance of coconut and coffee taste. I also tried my friends' Dirty Brown and Cereal milk coffee, which tasted great too. My personal favorite was definitely the Coco Loco out of the three I tasted. You can't go wrong with any of them though! The interior has a relaxed atmosphere and good lighting, which made it a good place to meet up with friends or just to get some work done. On top of that, there's a parking garage right near the coffee shop. Looking forward to coming back next time I want a getaway from Austin to meet up with friends or for a place to study! read more

I had some time to spend before morning church. Instead of planting myself on the couch in my den to watch TV, I wanted an experience. Now my coffee experience to date has to a great extent been limited to gas station coffee. I mean is there really a difference in taste between convenience store coffee and a coffee shop? In trying Indy Coffee this morning I can give a resounding yes! I walked in to the shop and before even sipping the coffee my eyes were feasting on the decor. I learned the wood from their tables are reclaimed from an old Texas schoolhouse. From the wall baseboards to the tables and more, the owners with help put it all together. This mom and pop place borrows its look from no one. It stands as an original in decor and I mean that in the best way possible. Love the vibe!!! Okay, back to the coffee. I didn't know what to order so I asked one of the owners to make me something I'd enjoy and boy did I ever enjoy that cup of coffee. A perfect balance of sweetness to coffee flavor without a bitter or burnt follow that I just presumed is a trait of all coffees made. I never felt the need to add anything to it. I now get why people go to coffee shops. It's a smooth taste and I felt so grown up and refined drinking from a cup with saucer. Who did I see? It's the locals and when I arrived around 9:30am (today is a Sunday), the place was already near full. It's clear to me people here know a good thing and I just learned too. Yes, I'll be willing to drive across town just for another experience here. I had a chance to have a chat with one of the owners, bask in a place I felt much cooler by thanks to being in it and learned what a really great cup of coffee can really be. This is one of those coffee shops you'll definitely want to make a regular stop at. Sometimes hole in the wall coffee shops have the best feel, but the coffee is only OK. That is NOT this place. Their coffee is ridiculously good and the baristas are friendly and knowledgable about the drinks. I got their cereal milk latte, which I actually heard about in another Yelp review. It was AMAZING! And yet another loud, over-priced, arrogant place with a very limited breakfast/brunch menu. Two menu items have eggs (cooked only sous vide so don't ask for them cooked another way, as the menu haughtily states.) Well, OK, but the whites were runny (gross) and plates are metal, which made the food go cold very quickly. I ordered the steak and eggs "hash", which amounted to several pieces of over cooked beef, 2-3 tiny boiled potatoes, and about 5 tiny cheery tomatoes. The under cooked egg sat in the middle. It was covered in a rich, over salted beef au jus, which really is too much for brunch. I asked for salt and pepper (when did restaurants stop putting salt and pepper on the table?) and it seemed to be almost beyond their grasp. Another person in our party ordered blueberry pancakes, which were two small pancakes with about 8 tiny blueberries thrown in. No fruit adorning the plate to make it a little more pleasing. We had to order toast at the end since we were all left still hungry. Selection of bread please? White. Our friend asked for a second cup of chai latte from the rather grim, too-serious hipster barrista, but after almost ten minutes of waiting we were told "he forgot". I am from the South and these are some of the best biscuits I've had since moving to San Antonio. Paula Deen better watch out! I had the pepper and egg biscuit with the red salsa and avocado toast. The food was hot, fresh, & insanely good. The egg on top of the toast was cooked perfectly. Reviewing Yelp I noticed they had cereal themed lattes. Come to find out they were from a testing stage but some made the cut including the fruity pebble iced latte I was able to enjoy. Mmm Mmm Good! Coffee was not left behind in the taste of a freshly finished off Bowl of fruity pebbles. Restaurant is small and was there during the week but I hear their weekend breakfast options are much larger. This used to be a truck and my husband was raving about their coffee. Indy coffee just celebrated a year in this location. Today i went there for myself and tried their cappuccino. It was perfectly made, the foam, the roast itself. It wad mild yet flavorful. I enjoy a good cappuccino and this place definitely knows their coffee. Great coffee spot right next to UTSA. You can park on the first floor of the parking garage in the retail spots if you can't find street parking or spots right in front of the storefront. The ambience of this coffee shop is very relaxed! The perfect place to chill first thing in the morning and grab some coffee. The service here was really good and I liked that the staff took the time to go over their menu with me and help me decide what to order. My boyfriend ordered the Mach (like a traditional Americano) and I ordered the Gibraltar, which basically is the same but with more milk. We received our drinks quickly which was nice. As an extra bonus, one of the barista's accidentally made a cappucino by accident and gave it to me and my boyfriend to try. It was delicious! This place was small and comfortable in a still developing complex of a student oriented apt complex right across from UTSA. Used the parking garage behind the place at no charge. Friendly and informative staff described the different types of tea very well, 2 non-caffeinated and one green tea. Had the green tea & toasted rice, which they served in a nice teapot and a separate mug & saucer. The teapot gave me 3 cups of the tea. Seating was backless metal stools that didn't get uncomfortable even after a couple of hours of studying. On Saturday morning a friend and I meet at 8AM to try Indy Coffee and I have to say this one has been on my bookmark list for quite sometime so I was glad Saturday I finally got to try them out. Indy Coffee is located in a small strip center off of UTSA Blvd where in the same center as condo's placed above it. The entry is not well laid out however it's not fault to the business but I blame the designer of the building. As far as parking you can either park on the side of the street (the first right once you turn onto UTSA blvd or the parking garage located right behind the building which I believe is free but I'm not sure as I parked on the side street. Once we entered the establishment we were immediately greeted by a young lady who was very helpful with drink orders and food. The regular food menu is located right in front of the register but the drink menu is on the wall to your right. You can also enter the building from the back where the parking garage is located and then walk up to the front of the register should you like. Now on to the order. I ended up ordering the green tea latte and the avocado on toast and let me tell you people I am so obsessed with the green tea latte that I took my husband with me the next day to get another one and he really enjoyed his vanilla soy latte. The avocado toast was extremely tasty with the tomatoes and cheese also topped on there and let me tell you they do no skimp on the avocado. Overall the people that work in the establishment are very friendly and kind. The music in there is awesome however because the establishment is slightly small when my husband and I went in at 11AM on Sunday they were busy! and it was a little loud with the college student crowd however we were getting our drinks to go so it didnt bother us at the time and I've bragged to some of my friends already about Indy that they insisted I take them which isnt a problem for me as I can try something else to eat on there menu and get my new addiction! read more

This place was the worst coffee shop to go to. The coffee was luke warm and it got cold while we waited 20 minutes for avocado toast. The avocado toast and egg were also all cold. The egg was overcooked to top it off. The staff was extremely rude, when I asked for an egg in between the cheddar chorizo buiscut, he said "we have an egg patty so I think that wouldn't be good no", I saw it on someone else's half eaten plate and it looked super dry too. I know it's trying to be a cool hipster coffee shop, but the basics of paying overpriced avocado toast is that at least is at decent temperature, and tastes decent. I just left this place and have never felt more compelled to write a Yelp review. Let me start by saying I'm all for hipster coffee establishments. I get it. But when it takes 15 minutes and $13 to get two iced coffees and one hot, that's a problem. Service was rude and slow. They did not have hot coffee made. My iced coffee is half milk. Tried this place because of some good reviews but we were disappointed with their coffee. Their coffee beans are roasted in Brooklyn, NY then is shipped here for sale, so not really fresh. When I say fresh, they need to be roasted that past week in the back. However it is a great place to study or catch up with some friends, there are plenty of seating and outlets. I did try their green tea matcha latte according to other reviewers but I'm not impressed. It was too milky for me and lacked any distinct taste. Would I come back? After driving by on UTSA BLVD one day, I saw this place and decided to check it out. I'm glad I did because now I've become a regular. This place has great workers who are helpful and know what they are doing. The decor inside is very aesthetic and has a laid-back vibe to it. My go-to drink is the matcha latte on ice and it never disappoints. The matcha here tastes unsweetened and more earthy than other ones I've had and that is how it should be! Perfection. Indy is the only place I buy coffee beans. My most recent bag was roasted less than a week ago. The espresso is on point. The owner is always around and works hard. They support local artists, which I am all about. The branding and aesthetic is freakin cool. I wish they opened earlier than 8am- if I could get a Dirty Brown before my 8am meetings, I would be so happy Not recommended as a study joint. Too many people mooch on the wifi and it gets loud when student groups come in. Very cool place to chat with a friend or spend a slow morning reading. 100% recommended to everyone always forever. Visited this coffee shop located near the UTSA campus. The coffee shop is located in an apartment building were there are other shop nestled in the same area. The parking is bit strange because the parking is located in the apartment parking garage. There a slots for retail and others for the resident clearly marked. Then you walk to the coffee. The back door isn't clearly mark with a sign saying enter but there is clear writing of some sort. Walking to the front there is sitting available outside with a laptop appropriately size table that seats aboout 4 people with laptops comfortable. As you enter the inside is very nice and their merchandise is simple but useable. The initial customer service wasn't the best as it was my first time there and I mentioned I've never visited this location before. The male cashier looked confused. Once I ordered and sat out side the barista that brought my coffee which was amazing was very friendly. If you are looking for a coffee shop to chill with young friends this is the place. Atmosphere is full of youth and a delightful vibe of college students. If you are older I'm no so sure if this is the place. If you need to get work done this place could work for you. However, I consider this place a meeting place more than a study spot! read more

(Clerical thing cause it bothers me. In case this shows up as a food truck still, 10/10/15 was opening day of brick and mortar. Any previous reviews are for truck. Address is correct and permanent.) Don't get me wrong. Austin or my H-town... Spots like this galore. But keeping SA lame doesn't include this gorgeous, hip set up of an interior. I mean, did we spy a succulent with with a crystal in it? It just weirds me out San Antonio to see you growing up into big boy coffee digs. The coffee is pretty decent. I had a cold brew with whole non-dairy milk, (yes. That's a thing) slightly sweetened. Flavor was full and robust and acidity level just right. No complaints. Except... If I were to drink this (easily brewed at home drank) at just under $5 and tip each time... Five days a week for 52 weeks... I would spend around $1500 a year in coffee. Just mathin' you since some of the other folks here seemed to be UTSA aged kids. And back when I was in school, this type of habit would require I work behind the counter to afford it. 4 stars for non dairy coffee agreeing with my tum 2 stars for i10Too-West location and parking 2 stars for not keeping SA lame ;) read more

Came here for the first time last Sunday. I got a chocolate latte- it was pretty good, cost almost $5 (and then when you add a tip it gets pretty pricey). It wasn't too sweet or too bitter. I forgot to ask about the cereal milk drinks so I will try that out next time. There's a couch and a few tables at this place. The tables have high stools but I wish they weren't backless- after a few hours of studying it gets quite exhausting on the bac. There are quite a few outlets near the tables which is a huge plus! When I first came in the music was really loud and distracting even with headphones on but one of the girls working was able to turn it down for me- after she left however, someone turned it back up. I don't mind the music but I also don't want it blaring in my ears. I liked the ambiance at this place- will be back again! read more

I'm happy to report that the brick and mortar Indy Coffee doesn't disappoint! I had visited Indy once back when it was a truck out at the Rim's farmer's market. I tried the Ole Prospector, which was perfect for a summer's day. They used local Fredericksburg peaches to make a syrup, and although mine was missing the fresh peach garnish, it was still topped with the delicious cinnamon and sugar dusting. It was a treat. I had some time before work one morning, so I thought I'd check out the new location on UTSA. It was a little tricky to park, as it's included in an apartment type building with no front lot. Once inside, I was impressed with the decor. It's true to the Indy Coffee "branding" that they've created, and although it may not be the most welcoming place to chill out for days on end, it's put together flawlessly. I was greeted quickly and with a smile. I asked about the "off menu" drinks I had heard so much about, but the cereal milk lattes were not available. (I usually get almond or soy in my drinks, though, so I'm not sure if their cereal milk lattes are even available with something other than cow milk. Worth asking if you're worried about it.) The barista told me about their Coco Loco which includes coconut oil, and it sounded delicious! I asked for an extra shot, and the barista said that the oil "brings out the caffeine" in the coffee (or something) and that I wouldn't necessarily need it. (I went for the extra shot anyway.) This was some seriously good coffee, y'all. The flavors were intense and beautiful and everything I wanted in a morning cup. I was definitely pleased with my purchase, and I didn't regret the extra shot. The only downside is it's a bit pricey. I ended up paying about twice the price as I would at the 'Bucks, but I will also say the quality was on par with what I paid (and I feel much much better drinking local). Indy coffee is the definition of a hipster coffee joint, complete with terriums and Edison bulbs in every corner, $5 coffee (but no prices listed), and scruffy (and friendly) baristas punching your order into an iPad. In north Texas these coffee joints are (quite literally) on every corner, with their reclaimed wood seating and heavily tattooed employees and artisan vegan food, but I think this is the first one I've been to here in San Antonio. Don't get me wrong, I like the hipster vibe! I'm just trying to describe the atmosphere and clientele you are likely to encounter. So, first off, the employees were really nice and friendly. They greeted us, engaged us in conversation, answered questions, and made excellent recommendations. The service wasn't fast, at all, I think we waited 90 seconds for my iced green tea latte but about 6 minutes for our vanilla latte. I don't mind but if they had called out names instead of orders it probably would have kept another customer from trying to take the drink from us. The drinks were fantastic! Absolutely no complaints, the drinks tasted very good. I wish the menu was more traditional (why are standard coffee drinks renamed?), and I would like to see maybe a specialty drink too. I also tried a cinnamon crumble donut which was extremely tasty! (Side note, you guys should get in on that 'specialty donut' craze, you'd make a killing) All in all my visit was a very pleasant experience and I look forward to coming back. read more
