I had very high expectations but only because the outside looked very cute. I also drive past this place on my way to church and I LOVE Indian food so I figured I should try it. I walked in and was greeted by a woman holding a baby. I informed her there will be only 2 of us, she said okay one moment and then never came back... After waiting about 10 minutes a guy came out to bring food to a table and then greeted me. I informed him of what happened and his response was "oh we had a team meeting" no apology, nothing. At this point I'm annoyed but very hungry so we stayed. I saw about 5 people and only 1 guy was actually working . There were only 4 tables so it wasn't busy yet the service felt anxious. The chef literally banged on the bell to inform the one guy working that the food was ready. Mind you, it's a tiny place so things echo. Food came out cold but we were never asked how everything was so I didn't make an effort to inform them. Aside from the food being cold it just wasn't good. I go to a lot of Indian restaurants, this definitely isn't one I'll be frequenting. This place is amazing. My husband & I got the butter chicken and chana masala and it's the BEST chana masala I've ever had! So happy we decided to give this place a try. We used to be regulars at Bombay Coast across the street & decided to give this place a try... really glad we did. The staff was also super kind and the food was ready really fast. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood. I tried their dinner (Chicken Tikka - yum) and three brunches. I really love Avocado Naan (had to order again in my next visit) and Indya Scramble. So delicious and flavorful with Indian spices - see the pictures. Highly recommended and I plan to frequent this place. Plenty of room at the restaurant and the ambiance is very relaxing. The exterior is colorful and decorated wonderfully. Upon entering the dining area that quickly changed. Incredibly stark and totally bare white walls. NO decor at all killed the ambiance leading in. The service was good. The baked wings were quite yummy. After that so-so. Soba noodles an odd menu item for Indian food. After dinner we went upstairs where a live jazz band was playing. (BTW no food at all served upstairs). There was no furniture in an oddly layed out space. We didn't stay as it was a very poor ambiance. Maybe they opened too soon before being ready? We were excited at the prospect of having a "bar" in the hood that is sorely lacking one. I'm afraid we won't be going back unless something changes. read more

The dishes were bland and lacked flavor, and the service was very poor--we waited a long time for someone to take our order and no one checked on us. Really disappointing. read more

I tried Indya last might and the food was great! We tried the Masala fries and naan bruschetta for apps and they were delicious. We had the soba noodles and shrimp, butter chicken and lamb vindaloo as entrees and it was all great. It was a quiet Tuesday, so I hope to see more guests! I highly recommend!! read more

A really lovely meal! The decor was gorgeous (although some parts were unfinished, the restaurant is rather new). The people were very kind. There were not that many people for brunch early on, which is a shame for how good the food was. Speaking of the food - it came out hot and delicious. My partner got the butter chicken quesadilla and I got the shrimp naan tacos. Both were delicious! (at least, my partner told me so about the quesadilla). The shrimp were large (the tacos themselves too were large) and well cooked. The cilantro chutney was fresh and perfectly balanced with the taco. The naan was soft and the toppings were perfect. Only thing is that I would love some more vegetarian options. Otherwise, I had an amazing experience and am looking to go back for dinner sometime. My friend and I went in for brunch since we saw they had vegan options. The space was very nice and open, but we were the only guests inside. It was still early and quiet, so there were only the owners on staff it seemed, which did slow down the food to come out (I got the regular scramble, my friend got a vegan version). However, once it hit the table, I almost melted. It was so delicious, and the sauces the food came with were out of this world. While we were eating brunch, we were discussing when we would come back another day for dinner to try their Chana Masala and their cocktails! As someone who frequents the neighboring sushi restaurant, I am very pleased to have this new Indian option so close by. :) read more

I was really excited to try Indya-the concept sounded amazing. The restaurant is so cute/ great outdoor spaces and the decor is nice- not gorgeous but pretty typical for an Indian restaurant. Our server was so sweet and despite being really busy was able to be attentive. I loved that it wasn't loud, no bumping music that makes it difficult to have a conversation. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the food- the pani puri was average. The chai martini was pretty meh and my masala martini had a bitter after taste. The food was fine, nothing special. There are much better Indian restaurants near by. We ordered the sizzling tandoori shrimp and the shrimp was super overcooked,the sag paneer was really good, the noodles were pretty flavorless and the jazz curry was good but nothing special. I think they could do a lot better with the food and this place would be really fun. I won't go back any time soon but would be willing to try again if the food is revamped. If you know Indian food you may be disappointed. read more

I have been to this restaurant 3 times service is slow, and the food is mediocre. yes the place has a nice outside area to eat. but I noticed that they are short staffed and it takes longer so i called to see if they are hiring and the owner hangs up on me twice saying that being a hostess is not what they're looking for yes that's fine but he was yelling lady we need people working not a silly cute hostess and then hung up on me again. read more

Wanted to like this spot soo badly bc it's so close to our house but simply would recommend. The service was probably the worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant - food was so slow to come out, they did not check up on tables, every table in there had to get up and ask for their check and/or to go boxes. The other 5 tables in there were all looking at each other like "have you been helped?", "did you get your drinks?", "how long have you been waiting?" Meanwhile the servers just sort of lingered behind the counter. The rice for an Indian spot was so dry and disappointing. It tasted like cheap minute rice from the microwave. We ordered the chicken nirvana which says it comes with onions and peppers and there was not a single of either. It was just chicken. The ambiance was tense because everyone seemed frustrated, the cheese naan was way too salty, the butter chicken was decent but not the best I've had. Would not recommend. We have been looking forward to visiting this family owned restaurant. The food was delicious, and we loved the vibe of seeing three generations; father, son and grandson in the same space. The menu is a fusion of traditional Indian food and creative dishes like nan tacos. We especially enjoyed the butter chicken and noodle dishes. They did a great job of remodeling the outdoor patio, with a blue elephant water fountain and colorful stenciled walls. The owner came to our table to check on us, and he was very kind. read more
