The core issue: my saltwater system wasn't producing chlorine. Rather than properly diagnosing the problem, the team repeatedly added stabilized chlorine -- driving my cyanuric acid level above 100 ppm, which now requires a partial drain to correct. When I pushed for answers, they dismissed a simple fix and instead recommended a full system replacement and conversion to Pentair for over $2,800. I replaced the salt cell myself for $400. The system worked perfectly within minutes. A basic 15-minute diagnostic would have identified a worn-out cell. Instead, I was steered toward an unnecessary $2,800 replacement. During this same period, algae developed, my pool crawler was left offline despite my requests to address it, and no one flagged that the system had stopped producing chlorine entirely. I had to catch every failure point myself -- which is exactly what I was paying them to prevent. Eight months later, it got worse. We discovered their technician had put DE (diatomaceous earth) into our filter -- a filter that is not compatible with DE. This caused damage that we are now paying to have cleared and repaired. This was not a series of honest mistakes. This was a pattern of negligence, misdiagnosis, and upselling at the customer's expense. The round spa is built next to the pool and would have been lovely except only half of the outside of the spa was tiled. Unfortunately the tiled side was the side facing the house behind us and the solid cement side was facing the house. It looked really ugly. When I asked the owner why he made that choice he said to save money. Of course, why did he choose to tile the side facing AWAY from the house? Initially I thought that wasn't too smart but then I realized maybe it was very smart because of course we had to pay them to tile the ugly cement side facing the house. Of course he didn't communicate any of this to us. 2. The steps into the pool and spa are very narrow and steep. I'm only in my 60s but it's already very difficult for me to get in and out of the spa and pool. At some point I am going to have to drain the pool and redo the steps. Will be very expensive. He provided me with specific instructions and he was able to get everything working again all via FaceTime. HE DIDNT CHARGE ME ANYTHING! He was sympathetic to my time critical situation, and he genuinely wanted to be helpful. He would not accept any money despite my insistence. You just don't see this type of authentic integrity anymore. Excellent work ethic, extremely knowledgeable, quick response, and he didn't feel right charging me simply because he wasn't there in person. The FaceTime instruction was extremely educational and his thorough step-by-step guidance was spot on. He was very patient with me. Other companies said it would be $475 just to come out and take a look. This is the only company I will use for all my future pool service needs. Hard to find people like Rod these days. The pump had failed two weeks prior, and my replacement was still out on a scenic tour of Route 66. Austin notified the scheduling dept of the en route pump and they were ready to install it when it arrived. The pump arrived at 7pm last night and by 7 am today, Raymond had it installed, he replaced the water leveler and within 30 minutes the pool was up and running. Thank you Raymond !!! And Thank you Austin!!! My pool is looking good once again. So incredibly glad that I called. Two weeks into my contract and my pool has received professional care. Do I recommend Brilliant Pools???? Here are the facts:…read more I have attached pictures from my weekly pool report below, showing no damage to the top step through the month of May, and damage appearing June 5 and June 12 because the tech damaged the pool while we were out of town. This is not "pitted" that you alerted me of before you started working on my pool. Also you didn't tell me about the pump, I told you about it, because your tech literally left the lid off of it last week, causing it to overheat. The issues with the vacuum are wholly unrelated to the damaged pump that I posted a video of. You did $500 of damage to my pump. I have attached a screenshot of my text exchange with Barry when he reached out after my phone call. It's dated September 27th. I understand my pool equipment isn't all in great shape. They were horrible...Nothing worked correctly and they refused to fix anything. Pentair even sent 2 repair techs to help with the gas heater and they did nothing/ said nothing was wrong. 3 years later....my gas heater is (still) having issues.... called Pelican Bay...they sent Doug out....WOW..... he heard and smelled the gas and KNEW what the problem was....and adjusted the gas/air ratio. WOW...so for 3 years my heater did not work / did not work correctly..... the installers (the company from Carefee, and the Pentair warranty folks), did not know or do anything....but Doug from Pelican Bay figured it out in ONE MINUTE and fixed it. Doug also pointed out other improper installation issues that needed to be adressed and he was RIGHT.
