The restaurant is rather inconspicuous because it's tucked away in an office park, but it's a hidden gem of authentic Peruvian food in the Irvine area! The service is always amazing, food comes out pretty fast, and waiters check on you often. I really feel welcomed and valued by their staff and I truly appreciate the energy I receive each time. As a lover of seafood, I am in love with their Peruvian paella! It's just so refreshing and flavorful; one of the best paellas I've had to date! It's one of their house specialties with a delicious combo of calamari, mussels, shrimp, and fish with their fire cilantro rice and marinated red onions. Super generous portions and it can probably be shared between 2-3 people because I usually take leftovers home. I also tried their arroz con pollo which was yummy and tender, but very similar to the paella. Their crispy handmade empanadas are also a must-have for an appetizer and I loved dipping them in their tangy sauce. Also, you can pick and choose between 3 flavors: beef, chicken, or mozzarella and spinach. If you're craving something sweet, don't forget to order a box of their Peruvian cookies to-go! It kind of reminds me of French macaron but with shortbread and not overly sweet. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but I l prefer to sit outside because it's shaded and dog-friendly. I got Parihuela (spice level options) (Peruvian Bouillabaisse) A combination of seafood including shrimp, calamari, fish, mussel, cilantro & garlic, low simmered with bite size potatoes in a red onion & tomato broth. I asked for it to be spicy but it wasn't very spicy at all. The bread and green sauce was amazing! We had to ask for more since we only got a little container of it being covid times. I did feel like we were putting the waitress out but she did bring us more bread and green sauce after we asked. I think I'll have to give it another try next time I'm near here after covid. Mildly disappointing starting with the fact that their food does not deliver great Peruvian fare, or for that matter, sizable amounts. The items ordered: Parihuela (Seafood soup), $20+? This one had an acceptable broth, but the other ingredients barely made the cut. Diced potatoes in this dish discredit the whole concept of the dish, an addition apparently intended to give more substance to an otherwise modest selection of ingredients. Calamari rings, which arrive prepackaged and are used just about in every Peruvian restaurant, were tasteless and chewy. As a whole this Parihuela was plain average. 3 Stars. Peruvian Paella, $20? First Paella is from Spain, a very delicate and long cooking process where saffron is basically mandatory, and the many traditional ingredients make it a monumental plate, sort of speak, if done right very delicious. This green version would be the laughing stock of Paella enthusiasts everywhere, where rice occupied 85% of the plate, and the ingredients and peas and carrots the rest. This variation lacked across the board. 2.5 Stars. Ceviche, $18.50? When asked what kind of fish, the response was Sea Bass, and one of my lovely companions disagreed entirely, but still was the best of the Trio. 3.5 Stars. Lucuma Ice Cream, $6 each? Sold everywhere and not top of the line, but certainly refreshing. 3 Stars. Chicha Morada, $3.50? Peruvian drink made from purple corn. Water was clean tasting, restrooms clean. Service was nice, turns out the staff lacked a single citizen from Peru at the time. Many seem to enjoy this place a little of the grid. 3 Stars. read more

This is some of the best Peruvian food we've ever had! My bf is Colombian and Peruvian food is his favorite! The location is a bit hidden in a shopping center amongst office/industrial buildings, but any map app will lead you to this (slightly) hidden gem. There is a patio outside, as well as beautiful indoor seating. It was very clean and nicely decorated. We had the ceviche, aguadito de pollo soup, maracuya juice, chicha morada juice & lucuma ice cream. They brought a basket of bread to begin with butter and aji verde (spicy green sauce). Everything was so delicious and the portions were great! I have no doubt everything on their menu is tasty and made with love! The waiter was super kind and explained everything well. But the fried plantains, the arroz con pollo, and the chicken saltada were all very good. Props to our postmates driver as well because this place is a little far from me and the food came hot!! That is a rarity. I mention the cilantro thing because some people have (I guess it's like an allergy or condition) that makes cilantro taste offensive. But again, I love cilantro. Outdoor dining is currently available!! The one thing that exceeded my taste expectations was the Peruvian paella. The assortment of different types of seafood which varies with shrimp, calamari, mussels, etc was so complimenting with the rice as well as the onions that gave it a good balance. The rice itself had much flavor from the seafood and the smoky aroma from how this dish was prepared. However, the lomo saltado was disappointing. The sirloin meat was too dry and the marination was too weak, I was unable to get much flavor from it. The fries itself were very starchy and soggy so I recommend ordering other dishes besides this. There is an unlimited service of bread and spicy green dipping sauce if you are looking forward to dining in. read more

Reasonably priced food with good portion sizes. Visited this spot for lunch, showed up at 11:30 and just beat the crowd. It quickly filled up with people from all the surrounding businesses. The atmosphere is pretty casual , if the weather is right I recommend eating in their patio area. We started with the empanadas , tried one of each ( chicken, beef , veggie) the chicken was the most flavorful but all where very good. For the entree's we ordered the arroz con pollo and the pollo picante . The arroz con pollo was very very good , the chicken was seasoned nicely . The pollo picante was good , but they allow you to choose the level of heat and I went medium, big mistake as it wasn't nearly hot enough or flavorful enough for my taste. So that was more my fault, but it was still good. Overall good experience would recommend this spot. read more

I ate here for a lunch celebration with some colleagues from work. This was my first visit here but am familiar with Peruvian food since I have been to two other local Peruvian restaurants. The place was nice, air conditioned, reasonably priced with friendly service. I was not a fan of the parking lot here. I ordered the Tallarin Verde Steak which is lightly breaded steak served with pasta coated with spinach-basil sauce. The steak was good but I was really impressed with the spinach-basil sauce. Many places screw this up by not serving enough or having a very runny consistency. This was served perfectly with plenty of sauce and the sauce was consistent and was not runny at all. My colleagues all enjoyed their food and I will be back. 4 stars! read more

Why do Peruvian places always have "Inka" in their name? This restaurant is hidden within a business park and you'd never find it if you were driving down the street. I understand it gets crazy-busy at lunch time on the weekdays. I came for dinner on a Saturday night and was surprised to see the place was full - we got the last open table. It's not a fancy place but it's comfortable, tastefully decorated and good for having conversation. The owners are Peruvian as is the food. Specifically the food is northern Peruvian. The owners acted as our servers and couldn't have been more friendly and efficient. Top notch service was provided all night. We got empanadas as appetizers. The shell was different from what I've had anywhere else - flakey, light and buttery-delicious. The beef filling and chicken filling were both excellent. They also served a big basket of fresh bread at our table with a squirt bottle full of spicy green sauce to dip it in. I ordered Bisteck a lo Pobre (Steak & Eggs). Our entrees came out quickly - less than ten minutes after ordering. The steak was prepared medium well and was topped with deliciously yolk-runny eggs. The fries were cooked perfectly (not greasy at all while slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and hot on the inside) as was the white rice and the ever-so-slightly-sweet sliced plantains. I washed it all down with Peru's #1 soft drink, Inca Kola. A bit of worthless trivia: since Coke was unable to displace Inca Kola from their #1 spot even after years and years of heavy marketing, they bought the company a few years ago! My Peruvian wife gave this place a huge thumbs-up and I personally enjoyed the food here as much as, if not more than, any Peruvian restaurant I've eaten at. read more

WARNING - CATERING - FOOD ROBBERY!!!! I try very hard to not write or give horrible reviews but in this case I felt if I didn't let others know, I would not be doing my Yelp job of sharing the truth. First off, Peruvian food is one of my FAVE cuisines. Finding one to cater the large size I do daily is challenging. When this restaurant came up on the catering radar, I jumped at it to give them a try. I think I cater enough dinners everyday to know what others are charging and providing for what you pay for. All in all, most restaurants come up pretty fair on pricing/quantity. For this catering with Inka....I paid $950.00. Since it was a catering job, I won't even review on service since I didn't get any. This review is solely on their pricing and what you REALLY get for your money. Having dealt with hundreds of restaurants, I have to say I've never ever been so disappointed and angry that it felt like FOOD ROBBERY! As you can see from my photos, I've captured 3 dishes that I felt really was a HUGE FOOD RIP OFF!!! 01. Sweet Potato Fries (Full Tray) $39.50 - 1 STAR - Looking at the photos, you can clearly see that this will NOT feed 10 ppl. I'm not sure what they were thinking. When the lids were pulled back, the 2 delivery drivers were embarrassed that they were charging this much money for that LITTLE food. As much as I eat, I also cook a lot as well and I KNOW for a fact that Sweet Potatoes are cheap to buy. But for the food sake, the fries were soggy and flavorless. FOOD ROBBERY!!!!!!!!!!! 02. Chicken Porteno (Full Tray) $140 - 0 STAR Chicken Breast With Minced Onions, Tomatoes, And Imported Chili Peppers, Simmered In A Zesty Tangy Sauce. - There was exactly 10 THINLY sliced Chicken Breasts. We didn't see any tomatoes but tons of minced Onions. I think when you pay $140 for a full tray, you would expect to get a full tray of food RIGHT!!! When the staff came to eat, only 6 ppl were able to get a piece of the chicken before it was completely gone. I catered for 50 ppl and this just doesn't cut it...ESPECIALLY when you pay $140. 03. Beef Saltado (Half Tray) - $70 - 1 STAR French Fries And Beef Sauteed With Onions And Tomatoes - Well, what more can I say. The same pattern went for this item as well. A very thin layer of beef at the bottom of the tray and LOADS of Onions and Potatoes. Is this a Food Nightmare? Is this a bad bad food dream? I wished it was. But with 50 employees to witness this embarrassment for the restaurant, this was indeed REAL. Needless to say, this would've been an easy weekly $1000 catering order had they not ripped us off. That's an easy easy $4000+ a month in INCOME! These people are truly nuts to mess this order up. Perhaps dining in at the restaurant would be a better option. If this is what they are doing to big catering orders, I can't imagine how they are charging folks who dine in. The other items we ordered were 3 Rice dishes, 1 Salad, 2 Vegetarian dishes and bread which I didn't have any issues with, but then again, those were cheaper dishes. VERDICT - I will never order food from this restaurant ever again! Not only did they just lose out on a huge catering deal but 50 employees will NEVER go to dine at their restaurant either. BTW - Food was not that great anyways! Inka Grill's food is way better and service is consistent and they would never rip their customers off in prices/portions. Please don't waste your money here if you are looking to feed people. There are way more better Peruvian Restaurants than this... THANKS BUT NO THANK YOU INKA!!! read more

I tried Melissa's parihuela -- really really good! I might have to order that next time! I had the arroz con mariscos which had great flavor with calamari, shrimp, fish and mussel (just one) in it.
