Cal Guns Represent. I do not live anywhere near Artesia, so my review is based on two experiences with Insight as a result of a private party transfer...signing the paperwork and then picking up the firearm after the 10 day wait. I recently entered into a transaction for a long rifle on a firearm message board and the seller wanted to do the transaction as well as the PPT paperwork at this location. Since the rifle purchased was one hell of a deal, I agreed. As stated, Insight is not close to where I live but the seller spoke highly of the guys that work at Insight and his experiences with them. The day of the transaction I was a little early but decided to go in an see if I could start filling out the PPT paperwork while I waited for the seller to show up. The gentleman I encountered at the counter could not have been more helpful. He had me move down the counter and start filling out the form. Any questions that I had were met with clear and concise answers and absolutely no attitude. Once the seller showed up, we were able to finalize the paperowrk and I was able to pay the fee. The transaction was as easy as one could hope for. While I was waiting for the seller, I did get a chance to check out their selection of firearms both for rental and sale. They have a more than decent selection of handguns as well as a few long rifles. Ammunition, targets, accessories were also in good supply. While I don't remember their rental prices specifically, I do remeber thinking that all of their rates were more than reasonable and if Insight was closer to where I lived, I'd have no issues giving them my business. The gun range itself was the length of the store and was viewable through windows located between the range and the store itself. There is an empoyee who regulalry checks on the range and sweeps spent casings back into the shooting area and away from the walk way. All in all, a very proessional set up with proper supervision and regular/ timely clean up. As previously mentioned, I had to wait my state mandated 10 days in order to pickup my recently purchased long rifle. My initial experience at Inisght was met with an almost empty retail area but an almost full gun range. This time around it was quite different on the retail end. The retail area of Insight was a complete mad house. Maybe they were having some sort of sale or event since this was a day after Christmas, but there were at least a good 30-40 folks looking to rent firearms and/ or make a purchase. Needless to say, I was a little surprised and a little hesitant to stick around since I had work in an hour and I was not close. I'm glad I did stick around. After approaching the counter and waiting for about 5 minutes, I was engaged by one of the guys that worked there and asked if I needed help. I referenced my long rifle pickup and within a few minutes, I was walking out of the store with my new rifle. I waited to write this review because I wanted to make sure that my experienced on both ends of the PPT were a positive one. They were. Came here for my first time shooting this morning! My boyfriend and I got there a few minutes before opening (11am), and they were already open. The guy at the front was helpful. He asked if it was my first time explained how to load the gun and all of that. We went with the smallest gun first, but switched to two different other bigger guns later on. It got crowded fast. My boyfriend went to switch the guns for us and said the guy explained the gun each time. They had someone cleaning up the shell casings and also a guy making sure people weren't shooting too fast (one shot per second) which made me feel a little better. I was pretty anxious going in to all of this. We used three guns, two targets, and three packs of bullets and it came out to about $64. I would def recommend this place bc they are first timer friendly, but would def suggest early arrival! read more

only shooting range i've been to.. So I don't have anywhere else to compare to. But I've been an on & off customer for the past 5 years and find it always a great experience. Friendly and helpful workers, clean & well kept, quiet a selection of target papers. I find the price fair for the experience, might get a bit hefty if you're a true regular. I recently took friend of mine here. His "custom" Glock-17 ended up misfiring EVERYTIME. One trigger pull sent two rounds flying down range in immediate succession. This gentlemen (a younger, brown haired fella, with a beard) from behind the counter came onto the range and very politely requested that my friend didn't fire "double taps." After my friend explained the problem he was having with his trigger, the gentlemen took the pistol back into the gun shop area, they took a look at it, brought it back out, and shrugged. "Nothing we can figure out. I'll tell ya what, though... Feel free to keep firing, but only this time. It's really against our policy." The guy was totally cool about it, and my friend thanked him. I had a jam on the line, and the same guy came out with a smile, and helped me clear a jammed casing that my extractor pin just couldn't get out. No deep breathing or sighing... Just smiles and polite, respectful service. I will continue to come here from West LA, purely because this range is just plain awesome. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a great selection of rentals... Insight is truly the way to go. read more

DUDE.... Still coming down from the adrenaline rush. This place is awesome... This was our first time shooting a gun and they taught us right there on the spot. First we got a .22 because we never shot a gun before... Decent price on the box of bullets... (we lasted about 90 minutes on 3 boxes). Then we got the .44 Magnum Revolver... Let me just say this... You don't need a big dick when you got one of these bad boys... hahahaha That is how we finished the day... shooting .44 Magnum Bullets from a SMITH AND WESSON REVOLVER.... Oh man,.... Shooting guns was awesome. 3 people, 1 lane (unlimited range time), 3 boxes of 22s and 1 box of 44 Mags, Unlimited gun swapping, safety glasses, ear protection, and targets.... 3 hours of fun, 95 dollars.... YEAH, awesome time... BE warned though, you can't do rapid fire.... I was caught by the range master.... because I was shooting 3 shots in 2 seconds.... Nothing says "Happy Birthday" like having your friend take you to a shooting range! My friend M. wanted to go shooting, as it's been a few years since either of us has shot last. We pack up our .22s and our bricks of ammo and head out here. Place is located by some sort of truck depot, which can make it tricky to find if you haven't been here before. Fortunately, M. has...but didn't know if we needed to turn left or right on Artesia...good thing I had my new DROID and a quick visit to Google Maps fixed that. I used to shoot at the Harbor Range in San Pedro, when my dad was working. Waive the range fee and all that. But that was an outdoor-ish range...this is indoor and just plain nice! Nice stalls, nice fans (although I'd recommend that the ladies bring a jacket or sweater) and just a no-nonsense shop. Small selection of firearms. Staff is friendly; M. had a jam I couldn't clear, so just turned around, waved at the attendant and he sorted out the problem. He also commented that he'd never seen a Ruger MkI before; I have the MkII and I think they sell the MkIII, with a shorter barrel. You have to shoot paper targets only; either buy 'em here for about a buck or stop by somewhere else to get targets/ammo/ear and eye protection. You can shoot pistols and shotguns here...IIRC up to .45 but not sure if you can shoot magnum loads. Guy in a stall next to us was shooting a Glock, with a laser sight, at a silhouette target at 7 yards and shooting all over the place. M. and I have our pewh-pewh .22s, shooting at .22 match targets at 30yards...with better groupings. She was 3-4" and I was 2-3" but dropping just a bit. Go figure...either need more practice or need to re-zero my sight. MkII, lovely adjustable sights! Only gripe is the lane fee, but I was either paying $10 or shooting for free. Nice thing is hours; Mon-Fri 1pm to 10pm, Sat 10am to10pm and Sun 1pm to 9pm. Nice place for a date...just as long as she not psycho! read more

Can get packed on the weekends, I think I waited around... 40 minutes or so for one lane to open up. Prices are extremely reasonable and for a low price you can try out as many of their rental guns as you want. It seems the place is run by a Korean family, which is fine, just an observations. I've always had a good time here shooting with friends. Can't shoot rifles here, only pistol calibers. Great for experienced or new shooters, they are very accomodating and the target prcies aren't overpriced like other ranges. Can't wait to go again! read more

So I wrote a nice review 10 days ago. Then I go to pick up my gun that I spent a lot of money on for my new sig and 1) they weren't even nice enough to let me use the range for free. I drove 30 miles for a gun that I bought there and they couldn't even let me use the range. 2) the guy tried to charge me and my girlfriend for the range when she shot literally 1 shot just to see if she liked it. Buying a gun great. Using the range and being treated like crap after buying a new gun terrible. read more

I'm a shooter for more than 20years and this is closest indoor range from my location. I will list pros and cons for this range. Pros: - Clean - Well Ventilated - Good location near Freeway. Cons: - ridiculously high price for range and year membership fee (almost twice as much as renewal fee at firing-line range which offer multiple range location) - Not allow to shoot lead bullet (Not reloader friendly) - Allow to shoot 12ga Shotgun but need to use their own ammo which cost $6for 10 Rds while you can get the same ammo from walmart for $22 for 100rds. - Opens at 1pm during the weekdays since most of other place opens at 10am. so less range time for membership. I have no choice since closest firing-line is about 20mi away from my location. I wish they check other indoor ranges membership fee and adjust their range fee. Other than those cons it is nice place to go for shooting. read more

I like insight range for a few reasons. 1. Price. It's 11 or 12 bucks to rent a lane, and 8 bucks for the next person on the same lane. Compare that to places like the huntington beach gun range where's it's 18 bucks and 8 bucks for the next person. A considerable difference. 2. The people. The staff are all fairly nice, well, as nice as a bunch of guys who work on guns all day can be expected to be. Plus, it's a very diverse range. Most gun ranges you go to have two types of people that go there, the cops, and the fatass redneck militia gun freaks. At insight, i've found people going there on dates, guys with thier wives, regular joes going to see what shooting a gun is like, to this super-nerdy guy I saw shooting a S&W 500 that was probably his own body weight. (they banned the S&W 500, probably because of that guy. So yeah, it's a pretty good range. things to note, 11 or 12 bucks for a lane, 8 bucks for a 2nd person on the same lane. If you choose to rent a gun, you can swap it out for a different gun as much as you like, but you have to purchase their ammo and of course you need different ammo for different caliber weapons. Also, they don't allow centerfire rifles, so leave your SKS at home. however, you're more than welcome to bring your ruger 10/22 along. read more

Very disappointed that they no longer allow aluminum case ammo. There is no safety issue here, it's pure greed. Aluminum casings can not be collected and reloaded, and since this place sells reloads from collected casings they don't like it. Plus aluminum case ammo is high quality and cheap so its unlikely you would buy their overprice reloads. We walked out so instead of making $30-$35 bucks they made ZERO. 3/4 of their lanes were empty so it's their loss. It's a nice facility but I'm annoyed as all hell right now. If you've been to the LA Gun Club on 6th in Los Angeles, you'll know that this place is definitely a lot better. There are plenty of lanes which are very spacious which is super helpful if you're shooting with more than one person. They also have a lot more space to hang around your lane. You can bring your own ammo. Since you're not going to the LA area which doesn't allow certain guns under their jurisdiction, you might have better luck shooting one of your "illegal" guns. Clean space with plenty to choose from. I've never had issues with parking. Sunday late afternoon- evenings work in terms of parking space. read more

The owner's little son who is half my height was shooting dead center at the target repeatedly until his target had a hole roughly the size of a quarter by the time he was done. And I reel my target back and I'm ecstatic that I even hit the piece of paper! Very cool place. If it wasn't for my experienced friend though, I wouldn't come here alone. The vicinity looks a bit intimidating for beginners, it being a sort of hub for regulars. But, I do feel that this adds to the experience and sets the right tone. The people who run this place are very good at enforcing rules so it's very safe. There has never been a time I felt unsafe there by anything the staff had done. There will be the occasional thoughtless idiot who forgets they have a loaded gun and begin to point it carelessly, but the staff closely monitor this and are quick to jump on it. The people who frequent this place are people who appreciate guns and understand and respect its capabilities and the level of responsibility it entails. Happy shooting. You can stay for as long as you want to keep buying ammo and going trigger happy. -I'm so glad I didn't wear heels that night! I kept jumping from the loud firing noises and the recoil was stronger than I had expected. -Remember to never point the gun, loaded or unloaded, at anyone. Always face it down! All in all, I'm not sure if the prices I listed above are correct but we ended up spending $60 for two shooters and one lane! I have recently got into shooting the last few months. Within that time I have visited several different shoot ranges. Insight is probably one of the better ranges. Sometimes the wait can be long when they are busy. Therefore, it might be better to go during off hours. Especially if you plan on shooting for a long time. They have a 1 hour range limit if others are waiting. The lot can also get full during rush hour. However, you can easily find parking on the street. With respect to prices I'd say they are on par with most of the other ranges. It is $18 without ammo purchase and $15 with. The benefit of this range is that you are allowed to shoot rifles and shotguns, while at other ranges these are not allowed. Overall this is a decent range to check out. They have a large selection or firearms to rent as well. It's a good place to go for beginners, because of the variety of rentals and because it feels safer than some other ranges I've been to. read more

Insight is my go to for a quick gun fix, to sharpen my skills, try out new guns, or to just pick up some cheap reloaded ammunition. This range has pretty much everything you need for a great time. They sell guns, ammo, eye and ear protection, and targets. They also do FFL service and out of state transfers for $85 total (FFL, DROS). They rent all sorts of handguns, shotguns, and small caliber rifles. All caliber handguns, shotguns, and small caliber rifles are allowed. They don't allow .223 (5.56mm) rifles. Last I checked you have to use their own shotgun shells that you can purchase. Service is spot on here. They are willing to entertain any questions I had while there. They are also very thorough with what you need and knowledgeable about guns. Prices here are comparably cheap especially the reloaded ammunition. Pistol rental is $10 and you can try any you want one at a time. read more

I have gone to many shooting ranges that include indoor and outdoor all around Los Angeles and Riverside county and by far this is one of the best indoor shooting range that I have gone to. The staff is friendly, range is clean, 20 lanes and the best part of all is you pay for the whole day not by hour unlike most indoor ranges. I brought my own guns and ammo so I just pay for range time and targets. Max distance is about 20-25 yards, target hangers are wire at down range their isn't much movement from the air vents. The parking lot is kind of small but their is additional parking on the street. read more

It was my first time shooting and it was such a great experience! If I hadn't gotten hungry, I probably never would've left! My friend and I were here for 2.5 hours. The shooting community is super nice. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help out. We had a couple people recommend guns that we should try and even let us try their guns! I loved it! Also, everyone is all about safety! The employees are always around to assist and they know what they're talking about when they are explaining safety and how to use the guns, etc. My arms and fingers are super sore from carrying the heavier guns and loading the ammo, but it was totally worth it. I got to try out the 22mm revolver, 9mm smith?, 9mm rifle, and people let us try their 40mm glock?, 38mm glock?, and shotgun (beware of bruising HAHA)! I highly recommend coming here! It's an excellent choice. After all that, my friend and I spent about $106 for the both of us, so only $53 each! I think that's a good deal..but I don't have much to base off of haha! read more

I've been here multiple times and had great experiences for every visit. I suggest bringing your own gun, goggles, ear protection if you have them to save those extra bucks to buy more ammo or try a different gun. Customer service was great and very helpful. There's windows to the shooting area from the register/store so you can watch people as you wait for your turn. Make sure to put on your ear and eye protection prior to going to the actual shooting area. Bullet shells fly like crazy and can hurt you if you don't have protection. People have gotten hurt from being hit with bullet shells/cartridges. Parking spaces in their lot can be filled up fast on weekends and lines can get long, so come early if you don't like waiting. read more

I've been coming to this range for a long time... This range is pretty safe. The range staff does a pretty good job regulating the shooters. The range is well maintained. Very rarely do you see a lane that's down for repairs. Also very clean. I wish it was cooler inside. It can get pretty uncomfortable during hot scorching weather. I've been here several times, alone and with my girlfriend and this is the best shooting range I've been so far. The first impression is good, staff is patient and friendly, the overall environment is friendly (unlike some other hardcore places in which since the moment you step into and see the other customers you feel intimidated, specially if you are novice). Novices here are always welcome and treated with respect. I'm not a novice, but I always overheard some range officer explaining gun functions to first time shooters and I can tell the staff is pretty knowledgeable. This shooting range is pretty big. The waiting area is spacious and with plenty of seats. Inside the shooting area they have 20 lanes with enough space to put your stuff, even a clip on the side to hang your unused targets. I've never seen a target retrieval system broken here (unlike some other places in which you have to pull the cable manually), there's always somebody sweeping the brass behind the shooters, trash bins are constantly emptied, all the rules are strictly enforced, if somebody is rapid firing, they will tell them to slow down. There's always a range officer around willing to help. Prices here are reasonable (unlike LAX firing) and once you paid, you can shoot in your line as long as you want. They don't charge you per hour. Last weekend, my girlfriend and me spent 2 hours shooting and I paid $35.00. Of coarse, we used our guns, our ammo and our ear/eye protection, but we have rented guns before and I paid $50-$70. Still affordable. I've never user their gun cleaning service, but for $10 pistol/$15 rifle, I'll give them a try next time. The only con is that the parking lot is small. But even if it's full, there's plenty of parking in the street. Long story short, going to Insight shooting is always a good experience. read more

My first time here was actually a breeze unlike the other shooting range my friends and I went to on the same day. The service was great and the employees were helpful and nice. Some of the other places I went to treated first timers horribly. I came here as a recommendation from a friend who came here her first time and had a blast. The employees there were very courteous and when asked to rent a firing lane + gun rental they asked us if we knew how to load guns and fire them. Like most people we just wanted to try it out for once. They taught us how to disarm and arm the handgun. They were very helpful when it came to us asking questions. We fired our rounds. The three of us shared a lane and bought two rounds of ammo + gun rental + shooting target which lasted us about 2 hours for a total of $70. We took turns shooting a 9mm handgun. It wasn't a bad deal, but I may just end up bringing my own ammunition next time since my friend has a couple boxes at home which may save us some money. The $10 gun rental fee is a one time fee that allows you to switch to any gun at any time. This firing line had about...I counted approximately 20 or so firing lanes. It's very well ventilated and cool. Keep in mind that when we came to the shooting range it was about 103 degrees in Norwalk. There's always a rangemaster that patrols and oversees each firing line in case you have questions and etc. I can see why more and more people flock over here because the owners interact with the customers. I'm pretty sure you won't find any other place that is friendlier than this place. Although this place is pretty far from my house, I'd still come here. There is a shooting range near my house called Firing-Line Indoor Shooting Range, but based off my first impressions there I won't be going back there again. All in all this place is great if you are a beginner and want to try shooting targets for the first time. I had a blast and so did my friends. read more

Happiness is a warm gun. ... And a good place to shoot. This is a nice place. I'm not a big fan of indoor ranges, but I liked this one a lot. The place is clean, the rates are decent and the staff is friendly. They charge a flat rate per lane, not per hour. They had ammo in stock. .22 is hard to come by so its cool to call ahead and make sure they have some. $7 for 50 is pricy, but... It's tough all over rite now. 9mm was $16 for 50, pretty much the going rate rite now. I appreciate not having to pay by the hour, that way you can hang out and watch folks miss the zombie targets that are 10 feet in front of them. On a side note, if you plan on teaching your girlfriend how to shoot, get a .22 and keep the 45 at home, and... learn how to hit the zombie target that's 10 feet in front of you. Seriously, the safest place for a zombie should not be rite in front of you looking down the barrel of your 45. They have a big selection of rental guns. There are a lot of first time shooters there and sometimes That can be a little frustrating because I feel that people need to act a little more responsibly while shooting a gun. I literally watched a girl in the lane next to me shoot the ceiling like three times before the range master came over and told her to chill out.also I just found out you can shoot Ar,s there but there is one Rule you have to buy their ammo and for 20 rounds it's $14 ,i'm cool with that price I'll save my money and go shoot outdoors with my own ammo. This was my FIRST TIME ever shooting a gun and it is so much fun! I've always wanted to go to a shooting range and I ended up here for a surprise date night :) We came on a Friday around 5pm and it was not crowded at all. My date has been here before with his dad so he knew what to do for the most part. They have so many different guns you can shoot with. After you choose, they tell you everything about the gun: how to hold it, put in ammo, take the magazine in/out. If you have any issues while in the gun range, you can call an employee anytime. BE PREPARED once you get in the shooting range. It's very, very loud. I literally jumped every single time someone was shooting. You do get use it though! It also gets kind of cold in there, at least for a little 5'1 girl like me. I was a bit nervous before I walked in since I've never even held a gun before, but after taking a few shots, I got really comfortable. After my first shot, I think I put the gun down and took a step back to breathe for a second lol. Overall, my experience was great and I'll definitely be back again! The staff there are professional and courteous. The price for the range fee only is a little pricy. But the gun rental fee is nice, which is $10 (+ the cost of their ammo) will allow you to try as many guns as you want. I think that's awesome. The lanes are clean, have decent air circulation and nicely lited. Its a good indoor range for pistol (that's what I shoot) target practice. Its a little further drive for me than another indoor range, but I rather go to Insight than the other place. I would go there more often if they have a package/multiple pass deal to bring the range fee a little down a little instead of an annual membership (or one time) only pass. read more

I went here a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon with a coworker and my fiancée. I've only been to one shooting range before, and this was the first time for the others. This place is intimidating - most people brought their own equipment. The service was great and they were extremely helpful. Suggested that we start with a .22 since we were beginners. We went against their advice and started with the 9mm glock (cause it looked so much cooler!) which ended up being a bad idea - the gun kept jamming for my coworker from the kick back. But they helped us quickly every time. We learned our lesson, got a .22 rifle and revolver as our next 2 guns. Much easier to shoot, no problems. We ended up spending about $83 for 2 hours of entertainment, 3 guns, 150 rounds, 9 target sheets. Great experience with Insight. Plan on coming back few times a year to practice. read more

Insight Indoor Shooting Range is awesome! Being of cheap price, and friendly and knowledgeable staff, you cant really go wrong. You know, as long as you follow the rules! Second time coming here and I took my brother here this time. It was his first time shooting a gun and our experience definitely was a good and fun one! our bill came out to be $69.74 for: 1 lane + additional shooter 1 box of 9mm 1 box of .40 gun rental not too bad considering how expensive ammo is getting nowadays. It's a nice range and the staff is very professional. When it gets busy it'll get hectic and the staff may get overwhelmed. They usually catch mistakes on the tabs, but make sure you double check your order during and after check out. Overall they keep a close eye on the line and there's always someone to speak to if something arises. It's also a great place to bring friends who are first time shooters due to the guidance of the staff. Good range, staff, and service. The only people who have beef with the joint tends to be the ones who don't know what they're doing. Saw one guy order 40 sw for his pistol chambered in 45 and got mad about it.
